If we really need a whole separate forum to make PC feel "fun" and "laid back" then there's something inherently wrong with the way things currently operate. I think if we address that first and on a forum-wide scale, there really wouldn't be a thirst for somewhere to kick back in without fear of getting slapped with an infraction, flamed etc.

If you want my 2 cents on this not like anyone does.....

I'm not against the idea of having a spam pit/staff hangout-esque section for the rest of the member-base. I agree with Alex that PC sometimes needs to chill the **** out and that some people have some bizarre mentalities about certain things on here.

However....I agree with Anna and Nathan that a) staff is pretty laid-back as is b) a new "lawless" section isn't going to magically makes things better, and c) we should be making the whole forum be a more chill place, that's better in the long run.

And honestly, I feel that this new section would be more likely to turn into a hellhole than not. It's really just giving trolls/flamers/*******s a field day imo, and a lack of rules would just make it harder to deal with them. While Thunderdome was before my time, if this thing being proposed is going to be anything like that, what's stopping it from turning into Thunderdome 2.0?

my interpretation of the OP's idea is akin to LTT's Off-Topic section. Even some of the most lax staff I've seen (not here) do have some thoughts, but it does have it's benefits. In that section you can literally post anything and everything provided it is coherent and non-explicit. (From my understanding personal attacks/trolling are barred at least there as well, though their mods are a little lenient with this asking for it.)

This kind of place I would really appreciate. :)

Could you give examples of what topics you are thinking of that would not fit in our existing off-topic forums? I'm curious actually.

What a bold way to make an entrance, DRCM. I tip my hat off to you.

Actually STRONGLY for this though given the swear censors case we're gonna be looking at 2016 when this actually happens.

D&D for the serious conversation which can sometimes fly on interesting tangents, General Chat for modest topics which may be a little more mundane/simple (usually mundane), THE CISTERN maybe? (don't forget to credit me if you like that name ;D) I would love it to bits if you had an area where the conversation could be EVEN MORE lax, to the point where staying to a SET topic wasn't even required, and the conversation flowed freely in each topic, to wherever it naturally went.

"BUT CHAOS!? MADNESS!??? DEMONS WILL RISE FROM HELL AND DESTORY POKECOMMUNITY!!!" you may say.

"Nah ah ah." I retort, wagging my finger and shaking my head.

I believe that quite ironically, the place should be HEAVILY covered, like the scene of an unjust murder by the state. However, unlike that scenario, neither side should be looking for trouble. Instead, the heavy moderation coverage is merely to stop it devolving into personal attacks or inappropriate posting in the first place. Aside from that, anything goes. If any personal attacks etc. are snuffed swiftly, the place will keep order. Chaotic order perhaps, but it certainly won't be a bad thing for Pokécommunity to have that forum livening the place up. The artificial attempts to make Gen Chat more appealing have been like using aspartame as a substitute for natural sugar. The natural stuff can be healthier. And damn, it tastes nicer.

You'll also see a lot more of me around here. What's not to like?
