I'd say there's nothing inherently devilish about socialism, but then again I live in a traditionally socialist country. :P
The American dislike for socialism is, if one were to simplify, really just a remnant of the cold war. Then again Soviet was a really good example of socialism gone wrong, so who can blame them.

I seem to have a thing for giant headlines about "Government in chaos", "Nobody knows what will happen on Monday", "Shops closed and refusing to sell anything until a value for the dollar is actually stablished", "European stock markets plummeting" and "Central Bank bleeding millions of dollars every day".
