Why doesn't anyone just use the obviously superior SI unit system.

Because unlike the American flavor of the imperial system, the SI system doesn't cause an eagle screech in the distance each time you successfully measure something. So, basically, using the American imperial system is more audibly satisfying because eagle screeches are awesome.
