and you succeed, damn it. all the damn time. XD;

Yeah, I saw the release date gaps between the episodes on its wikipedia page. After a cliffhanger of the kind that episode 4 had, I'm glad I played it all in one go. That was just...too much, haha.

The bottles? heh, I gave up on the last one in episode 2(? or 3?). I googled it. XD;
Love how the devs ACTUALLY recognized that particular annoyance (felt by most fans) by including that line by max in the nightmare sequence where she went on to say "not those bottles AGAIN, UGH!" or something along those lines haha.

229483.

Well if that doesn't give me an ego boost, I don't know what does. :D

God I felt like they were just teasing us during the nightmare segment! That was just pure torture, oh and don't get me started on the part where she lands herself in that one room with a keypad and then numbers appeared everywhere. Horrendous haha.

229484

I-it t-totally isn't li-like I want you to feel happy a-ab-about it, you k-know. /fail tsundere imitation

the room with the numbers? felt like a silent hill reference to me tbh :p But I figured out the solution in under a minute. you had trouble with it or something? personally thought it was one of the easiest puzzles in the game lol. Or am I missing some significance behind the sequence? In that case, enlighten me! :3

229485.

I can sense that blush radiating from my screen, boy... XD

Nah it was pretty much me being clueless. I am so out of tune with Silent Hill that I never picked up the reference and thought that room was just a in-game reference to its own keypad puzzles. My eyes were pretty much "<_>" like this the entire time!

also lol @ I saved kate

229486

i uhh. /hides

It probably wasn't an intentional reference I guess. The room just reminded me a lot of Silent Hill what with the cramped toilet room and the sudden appearance of numbers on the walls (sudden change in your environment and cramped, dark, creepy rooms are a thing in Silent Hill) so yeah. XD; I never thought of it that way, though. Maybe that makes sense. Maybe the devs WERE pulling our legs. XD;

oh yeah I got tired of writing deletion messages. so I started coming up with more creative ones XD;

Yeah but everybody kept making reference to Silent Hill in that room and I just thought to myself "OH WOW PEOPLE. Way to make me feel like I've been living under a rock all this time!" XD

Or maybe you should use the advanced reply UI like every other person here...!

229489

Ah..? Then I wasn't the only one! HAH :p But it is nice how talking to you provided me of an alternate explanation of the sequence. See how discussions on series can lead to wonderful, informative talk? <3

I can but...I like quick reply too much. :( But okay, I guess.
you better fix this soon, PC. or i'm coming for the server's neck. i'm out for blood, i tell y'all

Yeah I tend to be the one who misses out on those omgsoobvious references that people like to pick up on. The game is so good at referencing itself that I just end up missing anything else that might relate to something outside of it. XD

Tch, the server on this forum has always been an odd ball. Granted it doesn't spit out error messages 2006-style anymore but it does still seem to have its quirks.

That's okay, we all have our own areas of interest and Silent Hill doesn't seem like it belonged to yours is all. n_n
We never talked about that sequence where there were those seemingly never-ending girls dorm hallways, yes? The one where you opened a door to end up with all those ****ed up versions of the halls depending on the character you were playing as - that one. Did you pick up on the omgsoobvious reference in that one, hmm? :3

At least this isn't a deal breaker. So that's good. :p

229492.

Yeah, I'm a real pansy when it comes to horror games. I remember Jake went out of his way to get me Left 4 Dead 2 and I don't think I ended up really playing it because while I didn't want to admit it at the time, you could have thrown me into a virtual reality version of Cooking Mama and I'd be much happier there hahaha.

Dear freaking Christ that sequence was a pain. The echoing of the voices that you could hear as you enter the doors and walk the corridors was interesting though. I also liked that you could control Victoria at some point, it made me wonder if DontNod wanted to do something more with her than make her playable for such a short segment.

229493

I am, too! But I've checked out some of the horror titles since they are, pretty much, universally acclaimed. Like Silent Hill 2 and the like. :3 I'd rather do what you'd do in that situation too rather than play something like, say, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. (gosh the name itself makes me shudder) XD;

Pretty sure that sequence was a very direct reference to P.T. - a playable teaser that has long since vanished like an urban legend from the internet and probably only exists as a scary memory in people's minds after it got cancelled. Was a game entirely composed of unending hallway connected end-to-end. :p

But that aside, did you notice the writing on the walls? And the rest of the details? It all changed according to the character you were playing as! When you played as Victoria, it highlighted the fact that other characters hold a certain amount of envy towards her and some text also, if i recall correctly, highlighted her insecure nature as a character. Of course, when you were max, it was all selfies. And when Rachel, it was full of those missing posters.

Conversation AND Deroro?

229494

Where am I? This can't be TCTI. Is this A&M? Did the Treehouse fall into A&M?
it is all the siggu effect, macho. XD; I used to be a forum games regular back in the days siggu and maly and nica were active. and a heavy poster too. This is like a second home to me. :3 Seeing Christina here just reminded me of those fun times.

Haha yeah, either that or Vampire Bloodlines, I remember watching an LP of that and when the player lands himself in a certain haunted hotel I almost crapped myself a few times at some of the sequences that would occur. Oh god Amnesia, yeah I don't think I'd have the guts to really venture that direction ahaha.

Yeah, I noticed how everything changed in accordance to the character that was being highlighted at the time. It's interesting how they kept pushing the selfie factor with Max to the point it became a running patroniser. I found it corny at first until I remembered that the theme of this game is photography, and in the world of photography the whole concept of selfie expression in this generation defines sheer immaturity. I suppose that's why Jefferson and Victoria kept giving her such a hard time about it.

I've heard nothing but praises of Vampire Bloodlines. Should really look it up sometime. (not play. Nope. not a scaredy cat like me. if it is anything as scary as amnesia, nope).

That's true. The game is choke full of things like that. Satire and plain-in-sight mocking of things and whatnot. The "Everyday Heroes" event even had a character say "Heh, so now everybody these days is a photographer...?" which is exactly what the current situation is. I see all these people around me who think that just having a DSLR with em can make them photographers without actually being aware of the immense amount of work that goes into actually understanding what makes any photograph an actual piece of art. "Posers", in Jefferson's words, I tell you. :p

We should try to find a way to get all those old folks back, even if only for a day. Like a highschool reunion or something.

That game is glitchy as hell but it seemed hella fun. If you ever want to take a look at the segment I'm talking about...it's called the "Ocean House Hotel" and it spooked me when I first watched it. Didn't help it was late at night as well. Yup, I'm a real pansy.

I get the feeling people like Jefferson would immediately see me as an innate poser who would thrive on selfies. But in his words... "Who needs selfies when I could give you portraiture?" —oh GOD speaking of that, please tell me you remember that sequence before all the corridor roaming that involved him. I think that was one of the most intriguing parts of that episode to me because it did give me the impression that Max had suppressed feelings for Jefferson, even moreso knowing what happens to her in that episode.

doubt it'll be possible. would be fun though, i admit. <3;

Well, if that's the case, why not? I'll give it a go. I'll definitely watch that part first, though. And let you know what I thought of it via a VM. :3

I don't take "selfies" much so I guess Jefferson would approve of that quality of mine heh. :p He was one crazy mofo, though. XD;

And WOW. I never thought of it that way. It was just one of those super-distorted-for-some-reason-because-bad-dream sequences for me in my mind. But suppressed feelings for him? That's...wow. I really love how talking with you has made me think of all these possibilities that I never would've given even a second of thought to.

Although the sequence itself - well, it was sick. Feg just made me say words I hated to say. ;___;

Had to play through that part twice. The first time went well, did everything, beat the area. It was spooky and, hell, it's pretty infamous as far as horrific levels in otherwise non-scary games goes ('cause Bloodlines really isn't scary. It's a good time with unofficial patches).

The second time, though...something went wrong. Very wrong. Nothing spookier than a horror-themed area glitching so that you can't complete it. Or leave.

I agree with you, the game itself has a sort of dark theme to it but that part really did scare the crap out of me and wasn't anything I expected. It didn't help that the quest associated is given by one of the most unlikeable characters in the game (or so I felt.) After you play it a few times you kind of notice that there is a static sequence with all the troll poltergeist encounters and playing through it becomes less of a scarefest.

It glitched for you the second time? Oh dear, that definitely backs up the fact that the game needed some serious looking into.

He really was. Yet whilst twisted, I can see his obsession with the "loss of innocence" — it goes back to a sort of notion that mankind will always try to take something innocent and taint it. If there is an essence of purity then the very action of tampering would result in it never being the same again.

Yeah pretty much. A nightmare is supposed to represent thoughts and emotions felt by the subconscious, plus Max did mention one of the reasons why she was even at Blackwell was for Jefferson. Even in terms of admiration, I would imagine him to be her senpai that flatters her whenever she gets noticed by him. No wonder Victoria was so jealous.
