That mask in Nacrene Museum...

I am currently re-playing Pokémon Black (to celebrate five years of owning it) and when I was in Nacrene Museum, that mask got me thinking... I do not have a picture of it, but the text says it was "used in festivals" and going by the looks of it, it looks similar to the strange souvenir, which has been speculated to be from Sun and Moon's region... Could it be from Sun and Moon's region to or could it just be a stand alone mask with no purpose.

I'm pretty sure it was just stand-alone. I mean, Black and White were released in Gen 5, and this is Gen 7. I really doubt that they would think to put it in two gens later.

I've attached a photo of it. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to look like the strange souvenir when you compare them side by side. It's not impossible that it'll have fifth generation references if it's based in Hawaii (and due to being American states), however I do think this might be too much of a stretch this time.

Well, looking at red and blue, where that girl in front of rock tunnel is talking about a pokemon with a floral pattern. This does sound a lot like munna, and people have been speculating on gen 5 already planned way back then.

We've always had an occasional NPC tease stuff from a future generation, like what you said about that one NPC in 1st Gen who somehow predicted Munna. I could see that mask that this thread is talking about being from the new region, and likely the Strange Souvenir as well. I know the Strange Souvenir has a bit of a Hawaiian design inspiration, furthering the theory that the region was based on Hawaii.

I don't think that Munna was planned. I think they were just like "Hey, let's make a pink pokemon with a floral pattern as a callback to gen 1."

Actually Munna was planned concept/design wise back in gen 1, they decided to actually do it in Gen 5, or so I've heard.

Yeah, but the mask doesn't even resemble Yamask...
