I find the anime forum in Gaia to be irritating, too many wannabe elitists. GD is a trash hole at night and decent by day. Haven't ever joined, I just browse there sometimes. I also think the staff are far too lenient. More permanent IP bans are required, and certain users who have been banned temporarily multiple times should be banned for good.
One of my hobbies on Gaia just happens to be fighting the wannabe elitists of the A/M/C. I spend the rest of my time on Gaia hanging out within the guilds, with only the occasional trip to the GCD, the art forums, and the aptly misnamed "Charities/Quests" forum; thus, I'm more or less safe from the abominations contained within the GD, which happens to be a trash hole at all times of the day.

Meh... PC is about the only forum I go to. If PC were to close, well I'd be resorting back to the bored old self I was before I found out PC existed.

Hopefully this won't be happening, PC's cool. xD

Doesn't that forum have perverted trolls around every night, too? I personally don't think anyone can really notice half of it until you have to mod it.

It's amazing how Gaia contains so many immature members. They often start trouble for absolutely no reason. They do a lot of inappropriate stuff, too, but I'm not going to mention it here. It's rare to find a decent discussion there, at least that's what I think. I do, however, take interest on how there's more of an adding on RPG elements, because the forums and chatting seem as if they get dull after a while. I've thought about joining for quite some time, but then I end up feeling reluctant of the idea, because I don't find as much positive points as I do for the negatives.

Well, the one time we used to get a ton of database errors like this, the errors also deleted posts and threads and such. That's the only reason we ever had a restart in the first place so...I doubt it'd be done again. And it won't just close, either. :| I'm pretty sure of that too, since it's never been even close to suggested before.

I'd probably just stick to LJ if it did close though. @_@; I'm not really into other Pokemon forums, though most of my friends share practically all my fandoms anyway. XD;

A lot of forums and chat boards have perverted pedophiles laying around them... It's so sad, and clueless, won-over people will just obey them when they say "Hey, I've really gotten to know you, I think I could get to know you better in person, want to meet at blah blah blah St. at blah blah blah o'clock?"
Next thing you know, someone got raped that night...

Then, there's cybersex. Which is absolutely pathetic...honestly... Your sex fantasies coming to life through what? The internet... on a chat board, typing up all your "sensations"...

I'm rambling.. I'll stop. Maybe I'm going to start another topic.. who knows.

You've got the A/M/C mixed up with the GD and the CB, Ryan. As mentioned before, I stay away from the GD and CB, so I'm safe from the perverted trolls and their ilk; all I have to deal with in Gaia are the Narutards and fansub elitists infesting the A/M/C.

That sounds pretty serious. But PC has a backup memory of posts I assume?
Closing would be pretty dramatic, I could see starting over, but someone will always be here to carry it on, and closure seems quite extreme.

EDIT: 4000th post

PC doesn't always have a back up.
I have a feeling that Lightning is referring to the June/July post deletings, they deleted the animals fanclub which May slaved over making. XD

I think I would feel indifferent, I haven't been online all that much anyways~ (Well recently, I haven't)~ And I guess I'll just stick to email, MSN, and snail mail when it comes to free time~
I emailed you!

And if PC closed, I'd simply move full time to MMC and keep PE2K as my back up.

Closing the forum isn't as farfetched as you may think. Afterall, it costs money to run a forum and get a server big enough to run PC smoothly and, from what I heard, it doesn't come cheap at all.

It only needs for Steve and Kwesi to decide it's no longer worth the time and money and close it down. And if they did, nobody would be around to take on the payments, so the forum would die.

Quite expensive, actually. When PC was starting and Kwesi and Steve didn't want any advertisements on the forum, I believe it was about $260 a month. Now they've got ads, as well as donations, which helps.

But, more on the subject to what Legacy said, if PC were to close for that reason, it wouldn't make much sense since PC has been up for quite a while, and for Kwesi and Steve to have gotten this thought now would be sort of odd. It's been costing them money for a long time now, since they've kept PC up and running, if one of them were to go bankrupt for one reason or another, I'd understand.
I doubt that the reason for shutting down PC by now would be financial.

I'm sure there's enough kind people here who would donate a bit if the situation arose.

I don't doubt it. There are many people I know here that would be crushed to see PC go down. In those circumstances, the donation rate would arise. It's a shame no one donates by free will, but hey, I can't really say anything bad about it since I haven't donated anything either.

I wouldn't donate to PC anyway, like..not everyone who owns a computer is nessacarily rich enough to give away precious money.

You can't forget, each time they move to a new, bigger server, the cost of running the forum increases too. And those ads only cover a fraction of the monthly fee. And with the donations, if you look at the donation page, very few people have really made that big of a contribution, save for Lightning ($40) and two or three people who have donated $20-25. And since the forum started accepting donations back at the end of 2004, they've only received roughly $260 in donations. That works out to roughly $9 a month when divided evenly.

Um, no, I was talking about the time we restarted EVERYTHING. Fresh. No members, no posts, no threads, nothing. That was back in September of 2003 so few people remember it anyway.

And yeah, donations barely bring in anything. ._.; The only way they would start brining a decent intake of cash is if the only way one could keep their Community Supporter status is to pay monthly, or in some other time increment. CSes could be offered more perks and then people might be willing to pay $3-10/month and the donation system might actually be useful. @_@;

'Cause like...paying $1 for a coloured name doesn't help PC at all. <_<;

Oh well, just another thing I'm wrong about, though the posts were deleted at the time I meantioned too.

I had to rejoin, that kind of sucked. I was totally a member before then. Quick Reply, amazingly, ruined PC for me...for like months. It was too 'new' and PC had seemingly changed, so I disappeared. Later I figured out what Quick Reply was, and that it made my life a breeze, and I came back. But seriously...QR threw me for a loop.

And Kwi, do you need to switch themes every 20 minutes? It's...distracting. The Gastly one was great, but the Homer one scared me.
