Viz's version of the chapter is pretty much just a cleaned up version of the one on MS.
The only notable difference is that Sajin refers to the giant dog as "Great Elder" rather than his grandfather.
Maybe the giant dog is not actually directly related to Sajin.

I'm really ticked off at Kenpachi at the moment, and also scared of him even more. I'm ticked off because he killed Unohana (albeit unintentionally), and scared because he's going to truly gain Shikai, possibly even Bankai.

Hahah oh wow, I actually predicted that last page a while ago. I guess that 'a bankai so small can not be a bankai' stuff in the SS arc was true.

I also predicted that his powers were only pretending to be shinigami powers as well a long time ago.

Here's a gif to sum up my reaction to this chapter...

I know people have said there is a resemblance between Old Man Zangetsu and Yhwach, But I didn't think this was actually something serious...
I wrote it off as another case of Kubo drawing characters in a similar manner.

Now I want to know just how long Kubo was planning this.
Did he plan this from the very beginning, or was it something he developed later on in the series?
If Kubo keeps this up, I'll consider him in the magnificent bastard tier of mangaka.

Isshin and Ichigo have had similar abilities so far so it wouldn't surprise me if Ichigo had fire in his true Shinigami powers. Ichigo will need a strong sword to channel that power after all

Also the shape Ichigo's reatsu took vs back in the SS arc vs Kenpachi looks familiar.

I wonder how this all relates to Tensa Zangetsu's more young-looking form, and the whole him being fused with the hollow thing.

As for the younger forms that could be the result of that internal tug of war, between the Quincy ans Shinigami/Hollow powers. The more in favour of Hichigo/Whitey the more it would take on a younger form, perhaps.

I still like my old theory that Tensa Zangetsu spirit is some sort of reflection of "The Heart" though, and that is why he looks like Rukia.

Iirc, Kubo had once said on a interview that his plot forwarding is rather spontaneous, so he might just pull these tricks frivolously. And they work just fine, too.

A lot of the stuff seems to have been set up quite early on. The relationship between Ichi and Ishidadads for instance. Also a lot of the stuff Hichigo has said now makes more sense.

Then there's stuff which you can say he planned or is just coincidental.

So this is how I see it so far...

Old Man Zangetsu was actually the manifestation of Ichigo's Quincy powers, pretending to be his Soul Reaper powers.

Hichigo is the manifestation of Ichigo's Hollow powers he inherited from his mother.

Tensa Zangetsu is still a bit of an enigma though.
I'm guessing that it could be the original form of his Soul Reaper powers.
Its appearance maybe influenced by Ichigo's Quincy powers.

But I'm fairly sure that Kubo will explain it all in the chapters to come.

I think Hichigo could be more than just the hollow powers.

Remember the hollow that Ichimum absorbed was made from the soul of a Shinigami.

As for Old Man Zangetsu

it seems as if he's used the hollow as an Asauchi and is channelling his power through that. Getsuga Tenshou and the Final Getsuga Tenshou have always seemed more Quincy than Shinigami so I guess that would explain that.
