WHAT EXACTLY IS A POKEMON TABLE TOP BATTLE SUPREME?
Simple, it's a challenge, but unlike other challenges rather than meeting personal goals you're going against the other trainers who are competing.

Before I go further into how this game is played I must stress
Competitors MUST Update Frequently if I don't hear from you for 4 days you're out of the challenge (unless you are going on vacation or somewhere where you can play your game but no internet access then we'll work something out)

If your post count is low, or I haven't seen you around the challenge before I might not accept you serious competitors only.

If you cheat you will be black listed

    RULES
    1. I will post up the generation everyone in the competition has to play, I will also put up what exactly the challenge is.
    2. Every competitor may play their game no more than 2 hours a day (time limit may be different depending on challenge), and it has to be done in one sitting. If you play for 10 minutes than have to go somewhere, you are doing playing for the day. I'd prefer if afterwards you write everything down that you did in your journey this will be very important.
    3. It's important because I really need you to post after each block you play, so I can insure you aren't cheating and because I need constant information about your teams.
    4. NO SPEED BUTTON. If you have a hard copy of the game I'd prefer for you to play it. The speed button has tempted me way too many times.
    5. What you do with your 2 hours (time limit may be different depending on challenge) is up to you. Some will choose to speed through, while others will work on other task.
    6. The first one to complete the game, (terms for what the end of the game is will be revealed in the challenge description), wins.
    7. It is important to update often with everything you've done because for each task you receive points. (Point table is below) These points are very valuable because they can be used to buy yourself more time as well as slow your opponents down.
    8. ONCE AGAIN: Update Frequently! I need to keep track of your points

    CURRENT CHALLENGE
    Challenge Begins: Closed
Notes: For this tournament your daily time allotment will be no more than 30 minutes a day in one setting a quick save and reset is allowed for when you are battling the Elite 4 and what not (you still only have 30 minutes real time), however, resetting will not be allowed for catching legendary Pokemon, this includes Mewtwo you only get one shot, you screw up no legendary bird points for you, and if you mess up on Mewtwo you are just going to have to reset the game. Must have at least 4 pokemon in your party by the third gym
Game: Red, Blue, or Yellow Version (not GBA)
Rules: Duo-Challenge: You may only have 2 different types on your team. (Basically Monotype cept 3 pokes could be, for example, fire, and the other 3 water). You've finished the challenge once you capture Mewtwo

I'm not understanding the phoenix down item. Is this a nuzlocke? Also, I think you should give a bit more time for the sign up, that's just 5 days away. I'd go for like the 5th of August or something.

    Regardless:
Myrrhman, I'm going to do Red for this.
Types: Water/Ground (I get Nidoking AND Starmie? All right!)

I agree with Myrrh, you never really specified if it was.

    Anyhow, I'm in
    Karpman/Yellow/Cart
Electric/Fighting [Taking advantage of that traded Machamp]

I've got a few questions though.

If we don't pick a type such as Normal, will we not be able to gain points for catching normal types? Same goes for Mew, Dragonite, etc
Does the Pocket Watch add 30 minutes to a single daily allotment or each allotment following the time at which you bought the watch?
Is it considered cheating if the Lavender Town Glitch is used to catch a Pokemon other than Mew?

The challenge is duotype. Like said its monotype but you get 2 different types instead o one. It isn't Nuzelocke. Your Pokemon only get boxed if one of your opponents use their points to force you to. I might change the start date depends how sign ups go.

You are free to catch whatever Pokemon you want you just can't use them in battle if they don't apply to your team. Basically if you want to build up points work on your Pokedex like you normally would if it wasnt a challenge.

Watch only works for one day

And Lavender glitch can only be used to get Mew because I consider it the only legal way to obtain it.

sure, I'll try this on Yellow. I'll be using an emulator though.

I assume that we can only use dual types if we are using both of the types, right?

I'll go Ground/Poison. Nidoking here I come! If I can't solo, then let me know.

And how do we record our 2 hour times? We can save and restart, so game time isn't going to cut it...

If I have your game time everytime you update that would help me keep track. I'm not going to be a huge stickler when it comes to 1-4 minutes over to finish battles and what not. People just need to be honest. I'll probably set an iPhone timer when I start to play to know when time is

Once again this challenge plays like Ultimate Monotype except I'm letting you use two. If I were playing 5th Gen with this challenge and my chosen types were dark and water I could have Sandile and Lanturn. Even though first Gen there isn't many options.

I prefer everyone have a team of 4 by the 5th gym and it'd probably be wise to have 5 incase your opponent boxes one of your team members.

Okay, that makes sense. By the way, I wanted to add that maybe just for the first gen, the limit should be an hour, since RBY can be finished easily in 3 hours with the right team members.

And I said that if we're using real time clock for the limit, in game time wouldn't be reliable, but I don't really see how else to record time... like you said, honesty would be a big part of it.

Without the speed button? Idk. Think of this as a beta run any mistakes will be corrected for the next game, and not everyone is skilled to play that way (I'm surely not) and it could be frustrating to make super grind process just to have your team boxed, meaning the next 1 or 2 hour blocks will be probably be used on training a new team. I think its all fine, but if it's a mistake hopefully I'll learn from it.

(that and because of the items, especially that scary new game item, it could go on for a long time. All the horror)

Like jd, I think the time limit should be lowered, at least for gen 1, as otherwise people could complete this in two updates. I think 30 minutes would work best for gen 1, it brings in the points system more.

Also, after the first person finishes, will the challenge finish or can we fight for 2nd etc.??

And as a request, can everyone be forced to have a full team of 6??

EDIT: Laure, if you look at the Project Alpha thread, they can consistently complete this game in 2-4 hours!

Plus, pocket watches just cost 20? That means that you can get one with the two moon stones found in mt. moon, another one for getting hidden items (potion, potion, pokeball, moon stone), another one for tms (bide, water gun, mega punch, seismic toss), that's an hour and a half of extra time right there. That would bring the total for the day to 3:30, which is easily doable in one day...

Ok, so sign ups are still open?

Than i'd like to sign up! it looks really cool and complex, i wonder how it will be managed :)

Okay Project Alpha freaks you only get a half hour, I wanted serious competitors and I got them, so I'll go ahead and change it. *mumbles* All I'll have in 30 minutes is Pokedex, a pidgey, and a Ratatta and I'll feel proud of myself

Changed the rules (It's Beta I can do that to prevent loop holes) you may only use one watch a day, and remember once you turn the game off to do something else you are done for the day. You need the watch in order to give yourself more time, but you have to get on PC to update, report your points, go to the store and spend your points, so you'd have to wait til the next day to actually use your item.

I've decided sign ups will only last til Sunday night and I think it will be fine.

    How will it be managed?

Let me tell you this is the Challenge version of The Hunger Games (I was way into that book at the time) a Wifi tournament I started where you earned points, and since the battles were fast most of the game was collecting items to screw everyone over

When I had the beta of that I cried a few times

    j/s

but this one will be more simple for me

This looks very entertaining... I won't sign up because I have to work and different time zone might make things tricky, but I'll definitely be watching your progress. Kudos on another very inventive challenge, LaureTheLoner.

Haha, I may be in that boat with you :P (I havn't played first gen since Ruby and Sapphire came out!)

Btw, where do you get all these creative challenges from??

Oh shoot I forgot to change one more thing I'll do it soon. Since it is duotypes I want everyone to have 4 pokes by the third gym (if this isn't possible select another 2 types. I'm sticking at a 4 minimum at all times but you all should have six. If you only have 4 and someone boxes your poke it will take up your precious time to raise another team member.

    My ideas?

Simple I'm so much cooler than Sydian at event planning and challenge brainstorming (even though you all doubt me *shakes fist*) and I just want everyone to know it.

    *puts on sunglasses*

Jk I don't know I just wanna make our favorite games more fun.

Well, since I have to have four pokes by the third gym, I'll change my signup.

    Types: Water/Ground
Game: I'll be using Red Version, not Yellow.

By the way, I would say that you have to have 4 members by the time you get three badges, so anybody who wants/needs to can skip Surge if necessary.

edit: also, can we use Mew or other legendaries?

Here is an idea I had and I don't know you you'd all feel about it because it is kinda cruel.

No saving and starting over if you mess up so let's say you accidentally killed Mewtwo trying to catch it you have to start the game over.

Idk yet but with you project alpha people thought it would make it a bit more challenging.

No saving? sure! im fine with that!

    *at the challenge*

All right! Time to false swipe mew...ok

    GO ultra balls!

    *none catch him*

    *he struggles*
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    *back to present*

    Im fine with that indeed

No saving...ugh. Well, maybe for certain parts of the game. so, like if you reach a certain point in the game (like after 3 badges, 7 badges, before the Elite Four, and that's it). so you would have to beat the Elite Four again if you kill Mewtwo. I think a checkpoint system like that would work.

We have to be able to save because of the time limit, that's not really an option.

Also, Laure, I changed my sign up in my previous post (Water/Ground, using Red), so if you could reflect that in the first post, that would be good.
