I'll change it when I get on the computer (on iPhone)

I'm not saying you can't save of course you can. I just don't want you to save, go after the legendary, and then reset if you mess up. For the legendaries you only get one shot. Idc if you reset during e4 battles or anything since it isn't point related and it's up to you how you use your 30 minutes. Just do what you need to do in one sitting. (that's the nice thing about 30 minutes I guess).
 
Technically if you reset your gameboy, you have turned it off and according to the rules that is the end of your sitting ;). Laure, that rule is fine, in fact I quite like it :)

Anyway, how are the time differences going to work as your Sunday evening in America is Monday 3am ish for me in the UK. I think everyone should start after Laure's first update.

I am quite excited for this to start now!!
 
This is how I define 1 sitting. You turn on your TV, get a nice beverage, a baybreeze if you're over 21, and you play til the half hour is over.

I don't want someone to do 5 minutes when they wake up 20 on the bus and another 5 before bed.
 
30 minutes is about how much I can sit still for anyways, especially without my buddy the speed button. Oh how I'll miss him.
 
Some of the things I've been stressing in the thread, rule clarifications and what nots, I put under the notes section in the current challenge to remind people

I also up'd the prices of some of the items in the store, because a lot of them are cruel and you should have to work for those points, but other than your in game progress someone will be awarded lottery points every other day (the day someone isn't getting an item)
 
Can I change Grass type for Water?? Grass types all suck in this game!

Anyway to answer some other questions I remember really quickly:

Will we continue after there is a winner? If you don't want to I don't blame you, maybe I'd do it like if I had little badges or emblems or something for like 1st - 3rd place, I mean this is a really hard challenge It'd be awesome to get something for it

(No I don't have any shiny or event Pokemon for y'all bugger off)

As for time difference, I'll make a post sometime on Sunday, once you see that post (and it says 'sign ups are closed' on the first the page) you may begin

Also you crazy alpha people like I said I won't be super nit picky if you are off by 3 or 2 minutes w/e, finish your battle or whatever you need to do when the clock runs out, and I'd prefer it that you guys take notes so we can easily get your points organized and added up.

Aww, that's not even nice. You know what this means, though. Neither of us will win because I'll be doing the same things right back at ya!

Edit: Jd, are you doing that on purpose? Or do two great minds just think alike?
 
DAY 1 OF CHALLENGE
Notes: I know I said Sunday night but due to time differences and allowing you guys to have the whole day to play I'll start the day off pretty early.
THE NEXT DAY OF THE CHALLENGE DOESN'T START TIL I WRITE 'DAY 2 OF CHALLENGE' I will probably post early in the morning or sometime around noon. So no one gets a midnight start.

Events
Daily Lottery (points lottery) went to Bowsinator in the amount of 10 points
Bowsinator finished his daily task with 21 points
Laure finished her daily task with 10 points
JD finished his daily task with 25 points
Myhrrman finished his daily task with 25 points
JD bought a stop watch

Well, than if i have to play non-stop, which seems strange since i might want to use an item midway, but i wont know what anyone else posted...and dang it since im updating first, i'll be an easy target, but its all part of the challenge *insert random chuckle here*

There is no using items midway, you may buy the item after you've done your day of work, let's say for example it's Day 2, you can't buy the item until you've used up your Day 2 30 minutes

I don't see why you would have to restart you did fine, and I'm a lot slower. If you don't have a stop watch or a cell phone that has a timer you could also just put on a TV show in the background while you play

Anyway I used up my half an hour and I only just beat Gary a second time and then grinded a little so I can take on Virdian Forest

Maybe slow and steady can win the race

I have 5 Pokemon in my Pokedex (Pikachu, Ratatta, Nidoran male, Nidoran female, and Mankey)

so basically I have 10 points ;_;

Oh and also Bowsinator reminded me to add something to the point table, the TM's you receive from Gym Leaders don't count

Started on Red. My types are Ground and Water.

Day 1:
  • Got squirtle, did oaks parcel.
  • Caught Rattata and Nidoran♂.
  • Found hidden Potion (Vermilion City).
  • Entered forest, training Nidoran♂ and Squirtle.
  • Found hidden Potion there too.
  • Entered Pewter City and went to the gym.
  • Beat the gym trainer and Brock with Squirtle.
End Day 1.

Points: Pokedex (2x5=10), gym trainers (5), hidden items (5x2=10) = 25.
 
GAh I don't even think I'm going to try and locate the damn mystery items even though I'm going slow to get points D:< and then I always have this weird OCD where I feel the need to battle every single trainer in the game

Also does anyone else turn shift off when it comes to switching Pokemon?
I feel like 'trainer so and so is going to send out blahblahblah do you want to switch Pokemon?' takes up too much time and if I need to switch I'll just do it and split the exp
 
by the way, I was looking at the items list, and I think that the Black Out one should be 250 points or more. 100 seems pretty easy to get even if you don't actively try to get points, and I think that that item should be something that is used only as a kind of last resort, especially since you basically will lose if it's used on you (unless you have a Counter item). That way it will have a much larger cost to your points balance. Maybe even get rid of it together. I also think the Sudden Change one should also be increased, much for the same reason - it's a complete game changer. That way we won't be starting new games every time we reach the Elite Four. Thoughts, anyone?

Also, can I buy a Pocket Watch item for tomorrow, Laure? and I'm using a Nidoran M, not F.
 
I'll write you up for a Pocket Watch next time I get on the computer. I told myself no more prince changes or major rule changes after the tournament started and I'm going to have to stick by it and learn from it so I can make changes next time. Think of the low price as a strategy will you exhaust your points on reviving your boxed pokes and more time to get to the finish, or will you screw over your opponets?
