Ouch, that must really suck. I tried Minecraft on my old laptop once and it wasn't a fun experience, especially since that alone was pretty much an old 1 GB computer.

But I guess Spoutcraft would have really helped with that, it had a range of video options that made it easier for people with difficult computers to play the game, but that needs to be optimised for the 1.8 release.

I don't really need it, personally. My computer has about 6 GB of RAM and runs smoother than anything I've ever experienced before.
