The Crystal [pg-16]

OOC: I wish we could make larger posts :\

"No, I'm done. Be at the ridge by dusk, or we very well might leave without you." Leon looked back at the pond. The cave filled his mind now. He was absorbed into some what of a trance. The water of the pond was unmoving, but it still hypnotized Leon.

((OOC: It just slowing down since only two or three people are talking. Once everyone's problems are fixed, I'm pretty sure things will pick up.))
"Okay, I'll see you at dusk." Blade said his temporary goodbye to Leon.
Blade made his way back through the forest, which felt so new, yet so familiar to him.
When Blade made it back to the castle, he tried to remember his way to the armory.
Hmm... it doesn't seem much different from before...
Blade started to think, then realized how tired he was.
Maybe I should head back to the guest rooms... There I can meet the other team members... or at least get some rest...
Blade made his way back to the guest rooms. Not far from there, Blade saw two women. One had a Spoink, and seemed to be about his age, maybe younger, but definitely shorter. The other had a Prinplup, and looked to be a few years older.
Another thing Blade noticed was the sudden drop in temperature. Almost collapsing from exhaustion, he dismissed it and went inside.
It's still early, I'll take a quick nap, then head to the armory... but before then...
Blade took the crystal out of his pack.
"Lametto!" Blade yelled for his Ralts, who appeared moments later holding a stash of discarded shiny objects, mostly small coins.
Blade explained the purpose of the crystal to Lametto.
"You have a choice. You can either get this over with, and bind our souls be touching this crystal, or you can wait until the last possible moment.
About ten minutes passed before Lametto decided on something. Startling Blade, Lametto dashed towards the crystal, and grabbed it. There was a blinding green-white light as the crystal changed colors. When it all subsided, Lametto had passed out. Blade felt odd, but dismissed it and, shortly afterwards, passed out as well.

"I have heard of you myself, and a sparring match sounds great, I haven't had a good battle in what feels like year.....in fact the last one I had was....was...." When Shen remembered the time he was thinking of he cast his head downward for a moment. Before I had this armor.....it was a few months after that that I gave up my identity. Ever since this armor has been my life line, I wear it always, it has saved my life almost as many times as my own skill, I think we will make a good team but I must warn you I have never served under anyone before, I was always a hmm...a loner."

"Oh...but that's ok with me. As long as we get the job done, right?" Adric joked, but he had a sense of sympathy for the Lieutenant.

By now the sun had changed its position and was resting on the mountains.

Hmm...Marc has been silent this whole time...

"Yes of course, finishing our missions comes first above all else, there is a story behind everything that I am now...I may tell you one day, but today is not that day.

"I don't know sir. the best thing I can think to do is put up a defensive perimeter and have scouts patrol the area." Shen said after a moment of thinking.

Marc had been silently hating the White Knight for interrupting him and said,"I think we need to set an ambush for this Witherian force. Send out some scouts to locate their position, then have them see a false unit of our army as bait who then flee into the area where our main force is to ambush. That said, I'm not used to fighting in large armies, with other people on my team or against me."

"Of course!" Talulah replied in a bubbly voice. She almost hopped up and down like Lise had, but stopped herself. She was already talking like a 5 year old-- no need to start hopping around like a silly bird.

"How can I help you?" she tried, glad this voice wasn't quite as high-pitched and happy.

"Well, what I really wanted to know is, have you... changed?" Jen began, and then realised she wasn't being clear. "You know, in... um... never mind."

Spoink rubbed reassuringly against her leg and she smiled down at him.

"You know, we have to get to the ridge soon. Do you want to go together?" She asked.

"Sure," Talulah said.

Lise shuffled back over to her side, obviously dejected by the Spoink's lack of handshake. Talulah smiled, reaching down to pat Lise on the head, before walking and falling in line next to Jen.

Jen and her Spoink seemed really nice. Talulah felt for the second time since she'd been dragged back home off the battlefront that maybe being here wasn't going to be so bad.

[[OOC: TIMESKIP!!!]]

----

By the time the ridge was in sight, Jen was growing uncomfortable from the extended silence she had left hanging between herself and Talulah, but she could not for the life of her think of anything that would break it suitably. Spoink had taken to skipping happily by Lise's side, still having not returned the handshake but oblivious to Lise's disappointment, and his cheer was going some way to aleviating Jen's mood.

Up on the ridge, the shadows cast by the rapidly sinking sun greeted the lonely group.

Adric paused and pondered his fellow knights' suggestions.

Hmm...they both seem like good ideas, but Marc's is a little bit...rushed. They probably won't fall for it, and we'll leave the city vulnerable. The lieutenant's is also good, but we'll be spreading our troops out really far...

Adric turned to Marc.

"That's a good idea Marc, but I don't want to rush an attack on the Witherians. They might have something up their sleeve, and if we leave the city vulerable, bad things are going to happen."

"However, the Lieutenant's seems like a formidable plan. That way, we can find out about the enemy, but protect Arleon as well."

Shen nodded, the whole time he had spoken and the whole time Adric has spoken he could feel Marc's stare of pure hatred without even turning, but when he did turn to marc he still politely said. "I meant it when I said I was sorry for interrupting, but a soul bond is something Scizor and I have been looking forward to for a long time.....You'll have to excuse me, please continue your conversation and feel free to meet me at the cave whenever you both feel like it...I remember the way" And with that Shen walked off in the direction of the crystal cave and Scizor reluctantly ended his glaring at Houndoom, Shen hadn't noticed but apparently they were intimidatingly staring at each other throughout the conversation.

Just as the Knight turned away and left a messenger came up, trembling at the sight of Houndoom and said,"We've just received news from one of our scouts that the Witherian attack was a false alarm." Marc nodded and dismissed the messenger before turning back to Adric and saying,"What were we saying again?"

"Nevermind that, Marc, we have to get this mission started."

Adric turned and began to go into the direction of the White Knight.

"If you don't know your way around, then follow me. If you do, feel free to get what you need - just meet up at the cave by sunset."

Marc didn't feel like dawdling and decided to follow Adric. Marc had to drag Houndoom away from mauling an old man to death. Stupid dog!

The inside of the cave should have been dark, but something was glowing from inside of it. The cave started off strait, but is now winding downwards, and the glow intensifies. You come up to a corner, and now that your eyes have adjusted to the lower light, and the glowing has only gotten worse, it is almost as bright as day. Rounding the corner is a small pool of water. In the pool is a tunnel that light is springing out of. Through the tunnel, the water level drops off quickly so that you only spent 30 sec under, and you are now in a circular room. In the middle is a blinding Crystal that is slightly larger than you. The walls and ceiling are also aglow with smaller crystals. Your eyes try to readjust to the light.

Marc was blinded by the light in the room, and Houndoom's a Dark type so think about him and he'd already been severely hurt by going underwater. The light and the water hurt Houndoom so much, he decided to howl. The problem was that Houndoom howls very loudly and tends to disturb everyone in the vaguely near vicinity. Marc wasn't even sure if he wanted to bond with Houndoom yet. Possibly he could take more than one crystal and sell any spare crystals for lots of money. Marc decided against it, it was too risky in front of Adric and the White Knight, who would murder him about it. Why didn't he get this mission on his own? He would have been far more successful without those two fools getting in the way. At last Marc's eyes adjusted to the light. Marc was busy thinking about why he didn't buy any sunglasses at the market. Marc reached and grabbed a crystal. He then took the crystal and put it on Houndoom's forehead. The crystal turned black, Marc and Houndoom were now one. The bond had been made.

From the peak of the ridge, Jen could just see the edge of a forest close to them, and without warning, Spoink took off towards it.

"Hey! Wait!" Jen called, jogging after it without looking back at Talulah or Lise. She knew that the forest probably held strong, wild, untamed Pokémon, and Spoink wasn't that strong. Heck, she didn't even know what power he had; she had seen Lise's ice, but Spoink had shown no such display thus far. The trees loomed above her the closer she got, and she gritted her teeth as she drew her kukri from her belt, ready for anything; she knew already that any unprovoked attack from a Pokémon deserved a definitely provoked response, no matter how violent she needed to be.

"Spoink! Where are you?" Jen hissed. There was a movement in the bushes, and she dropped her guard, expecting her little Pokémon, but instead the leaves parted and she was met with the angry face of a huge, ferocious Heracross.
