The Crystal [pg-16]

[[OOC: In this post, Jen is an idiot. I am not such an idiot, so please forgive her. *bows* ]]

"I guess that's what Leon meant when he told me to go train with Lise..."

"Lise?" Jen repeated. "Is that your Pokémon's name?" She glanced down at Spoink. She had never before heard a name like Lise for a Pokémon, and wondered if it was the species or a nickname, as she was unfamiliar with the vast majority of Pokémon. She remembered a nicknamed Pokémon she had met before, a Taillow in the village she had lived in as a child whom locals referred to as Rager for its vicious temper and liability to attack all who ventured too close.

Spoink hopped up to the larger Pokémon and held out a stubby hand as way of greeting, chirping "Spoink!" over and over again in what Jen assumed was its way of introducing itself.

"Oh yeah! My name is Jen, it's good to meet you properly! And this is Spoink." Jen gestured at the grey pig, who was now turning circles around Lise. Spoink giggled, and almost as if by instinct, Jen felt a rush of happiness build up within her.
What's happening to me? Why am I so cheery? she thought, brushing her hair away from her face to mask the fact that she had to blink several times to clear the emotion. I've felt strange ever since...

"The soul bond..." she whispered to herself, completely forgetting her audience.

"You soul bonded too?" Talulah said with a smile.

Beside her, Lise hopped up and down happily, waving his fins. He waddled forward, and stuck out a flipper towards Spoink, offering a handshake.

Marc and Houndoom saw Adric approaching and, after the failure that his previous discussion with the White Knight had been, said to the person who would be leading him," Hello! I recognise you from the meeting. Dare I ask what tremendous feat you have done to earn a place on this squad?"

Wow. He's quick to speak...

"You may ask, but you will not recieve an answer." laughed Adric.

He looked the boy up and down. It seemed like he apperance changed somehow...

"Sorry if it took me so long to get out, I had an important matter to attend." he apologized.

"How is everything going?"

After coming back to reality after his flashback, Blade headed towards the castle, Lametto following diligently behind. Though the road wasn't very long, Blade was walking slowly, lost in his memories. When he finally reached the castle, he was approached by a man about the same height as him.
"Hello, I'm assuming that you are here for a mission? I'm the Lieutenant, and will be your commanding officer throughout our journey. Those two girls down the hall will also be with us. My name is Leon. May I ask yours?"
"Nice to meet you. You can call me Blade." Blade said rather coldly. Blade had only caught the last bit of what he said, since he was distracted by his memories.
"I need to go now though. I'm rather late for a meeting with the king and queen."

"Heh, that's what you think. I was the one who sent for you. You might be a bit confused right now, so I'll answer any questions you may have." Leon was amused by Blade's slight stupidity. "Oh, and also, there is no queen… The king hasn't met anyone yet." Leon could now only help but wonder why he thought that there was a queen.

"Well I apologize Lieutenant" Blade said sarcastically.
"I haven't been here in several years. It must've slipped my mind." Blade said.
"Shall we move to somewhere a bit more... private? I'd prefer not to speak of such things so openly." Blade asked as he remembered something from his training.
"Trust NOBODY. Anyone you don't know could be an enemy." these words were drilled into Blade's head constantly during training.

Leon was now getting slightly annoyed by the newcomer, but still had to at least try to be nice, even if he wanted to rip this guy's head off. "Well you've been here before, where do you suggest that we go?" Leon thought his way back to Kabutops, mentally pacing the distance out in his mind to see how long it would take his pokemon to reach him if this went ugly. If it did turn into a fight, it would most likely be Leon who threw the first punch, or worse.

Shen walked up to Adric and Marc. "Sorry to interrupt but some recent information I've heard gives me reason to believe we don't have a lot of time to prepare for Wither's attack, could we head off to this 'crystal cave' soon, soul bonding sounds like an amazing experience." For a moment Shen became lost in the reveling of battles fought and to come, he light banged his fist on his chest plate, making a resonating metal sound. "And the thought of fighting 2 bodies but one mind with Scizor by my side makes my blood roar."

"Where is that blasted pidgey? Has it reached Lucian yet? He must know my resolve is strong enough that he need not hold back if we battle because I won't either."

"You are correct that I have been here before, but not in many years, and much has changed. You lead the way." Blade said.
Blade noticed that Leon was showing a bit of anger.
He seems to be a bit short tempered...
Blade thought for a moment, and figured that Leon wouldn't be too much of a threat. Unless he pulled out that sword of his.
"Nice sword." Blade said aloud rather than in his head. Oops...

Adric nodded.

"Alright then, I will make a report of our departure. In the meantime, are you still preparing? Oh, and also..."

Adric extended his hand.

"Nice to meet you, I am Adric Griffin, and I will be your commanding officer on this mission."

Shen gladly took Adric's hand and shook it. "I am already wearing everything I own, and yes, I know, I've heard of you many times, one of these people being the Queen herself. I am Sh-Aherm, I mean, I am The White Knight, loyal Knight of Arleon at your service, it is an honor to serve under someone the queen apparently considers even worthier than myself. Although I can't help but think, if you are strong enough and intelligent enough to lead a team like this one, how good of a fighter are you?" After thinking about what he had just said for a moment Shen realised his mistake and bowed in apology for a second. "I am sorry, the clash of blades is a sound eternally in my mind."

"Yes, I think... I was sort of unconcious when it happened though," Jen explained with a nervous laugh. "You are Lise are bonded, huh? Um... could I ask you a question about that? I mean, about you... now that you're bonded?"

Even Spoink seemed to be embarrassed for her stuttering.

Adric smiled.

"None taken. That sound has been ringing in my ears since I was admitted here. My fighting skills are up to par, maybe we can spar when we have the chance."

"I've heard of you too, erm..." Adric scratched his head, thinking of the White Knight's rank.

Gah! I've already forgotten...!?

"Right! Lieutenant, I've heard many stories about you while I trained in the castle walls."

"I want to thank you for briefing me on our current situation. We will begin the trek to the cave early tomorrow morning. I trust that we will make a good team, yes?" he laughed.

Leon quickly thought of places. A guest room would put them right past the two girls, so that was out. The war room might be used when they are trying to talk, so also out. There was a pond not too far in the forest though, and as nobody went there anymore it should do nicely. "Follow me." Leon started walking without even looking at Blade.

Leon strategically planed the path out, and walked right past Kubutops whistling to him. Kabutops looked up for a second, and then decided it was best to follow Leon, so the two kept walking towards the forest. As they neared the edge of the forest, Leon turned to see if Blade was following.

Blade followed Leon silently. As they reached the forest, Blade had a brief and jumbled flashback.
Link and Jennifer snuck away from the orphanage people and headed to the forest.
then they were sneaking past wild pokemon.
Finally they had made it to a pond.

Blade snapped back to reality, with a little help from Lametto.
Finally they made it to a pond. where Leon finally looked back. Probably making sure I had followed.
"I apologize for my attitude towards you earlier. It's been a long journey, and I've been distracted..."

The forest is consisted of close trees, and no light. The sun was blackout by the over head canopy. /the air hung think with fog, and is noticeable about 10 feet in. Small lights float around, probably pokemon. Farther in the trees grow closer together, and the start to rapidly disappears. The fog stops, and a crystal clear pound of water becomes visible. The fog is left behind, and light shines down on the pond through the hole in the trees. 7 feet of grass separate the forest for the secluded oasis.

"Just don't let it affect you in combat, and we should be ok. So what was it that you wanted to talk about?" Leon looked at the pound, remembering his last time here. Many people had come here, and many people had strong memories of it too. Kabutops proceeded to lay back down at the edge of the trees; the fog slightly covered him, giving him a ghastly appearance. Leon turned to Blade, try to read his face, but failing at it. One more thing for me to try and get better at then.

(OOC so as to not have thirty posts on one small part, I'mma ask my questions in one post, the "-----" is where you're answer goes)
"I have a few questions actually..." Blade said slowly, taking in the beauty of the forest.
"I'll start off with the basic questions," Blade started, "I haven't been here in about 7 years, how much has changed."

------

"Hmm... Okay, if you don't mind me asking, tell me a little bit about yourself, I'd like to know my Lieutenant." Blade remembered something else from his training.
If you must work with someone for an extended time, get to know them as well as you can...

--------

"Interesting. I have one final question." Blade said as he reached for the crystal in his bag.
"What is... This?" Blade said as he found and pulled out his treasured crystal. The sunlight glinted off the crystal, giving it a small glow.

"I have heard of you myself, and a sparring match sounds great, I haven't had a good battle in what feels like year.....in fact the last one I had was....was...." When Shen remembered the time he was thinking of he cast his head downward for a moment. Before I had this armor.....it was a few months after that that I gave up my identity. Ever since this armor has been my life line, I wear it always, it has saved my life almost as many times as my own skill, I think we will make a good team but I must warn you I have never served under anyone before, I was always a hmm...a loner."

"Seven years isn't that long for a castle to weather. The armory has been updated, and a war room was added to the opposite side of the armory. The biggest change is the view from the ridge, that's where we are meeting at dusk."

---------

"Not much to know about me. I've been with the king since the gathering of the tribes, and am still loyal to him. I'm soul bounded with that Kabutops, oh friendly note, don't piss him off. You may be one of my soldiers, but I can't stop him from cutting you to ribbons. "

---------

Finally on his last question, Blade pulled out a crystal. "That crystal can be used to soul bond with pokemon. It gives a certain link between you two. Right now, only the elite of both empires have them." Leon thought about the cave, but quickly thought better of it. He should keep what was left of Wither's secretes to himself. He was astounded that he was going to show the cave to this man he hardly knows, much less one who doesn't respect him much. Leon thought of all the people who did know of the cave's existence. A small handfull of people came to mind, but the king did not...

"Interesting, very interesting." Blade finally said after a few moments of thinking.
"Well, that's all I have to ask, and unless you have anything to ask me, I shall be on my to check out the armory." Blade paused for a moment, waiting for a reply from Leon.
