The Daily Chit-Chat [2008]

Well it's hard to modernize the origin story because the origin stories are usually simplistic with the same story arc.

I've never read the comic. Is Stark's portrayal in the comic dramatically different from that of the movie?
I don't read the comics that much, but Iron Man has always just rubbed me the wrong way. His "super" power is that iron suit, without it, he's just a rich guy... like the Marvel version of Bruce Wayne, except he's a jerk... Plus he goes corrupt after becoming the leader of the New Avengers and they had to get an new tony stark from and alternate universe to stop him... Finally in the Civil War, he was the founder of the Super Human Registration Act that split the Marvel Universe in half. Captain America took the opposite side as Stark, so that's probably the biggest reason I don't like him, he put Peter Parker in an awkward position too, getting him to reveal his identity to the world. Basically, my two favorite Marvel heroes were eventually hurt by Stark's actions, (Peter Parker sacrificed his marriage to Mary-Jane and his happiness to make a deal with the devil so that it never happened to revive his Aunt May, and Steve Rogers was killed after telling the opposition to the Registration Act to disarm and he was taken into custody.)

Even though Tony Stark is an alcoholic fascist bastard in the comics, he's still one of the few superheroes I actually like. He's one of the few who proves that people don't need to win the Superpower Lottery to be heroes. Same goes for Bruce Wayne and Frank Castle. Even though Bruce is a wimp beyond all imagining for refusing to give the Gotham City rogues gallery the deaths they so very much deserve and Frank is an murderous psycho, the fact that they can do what they do without the need for "superpowers" puts them a step above everyone else in my book.

Bruce is a psycho for not killing them… it's easy to kill someone. He loves to beat the crap out of them till near death. He is very sadistic xD Same with the punisher.
I thought Dick became Nightwing because of Batgirl… well that's what I thought from the 90's cartoon.

Now here I was under the impression that Grayson left to make a name for himself. I mean, he can't stay as Robin forever, can he? And the 90s cartoon is awesome, I love it. I just wish I could see more of it. Thankfully though, I have a whole stack of video tapes in my room that I've been meaning to transfer to my PC for a while now. I'd need to clear up some hard drive space first though, lawl.

And Batman has his morals that he decides to stick to, not because he wants to torture criminals. Sure, he does do so on occasion, and when he does I'm sure he gets a kick out of it, but it's a means to an end; how he works. He doesn't have the physical power other heroes yield, just intimidation. Has anyone seen the Superman episode Knight Time? It interestingly shows the differences in how Superman and Batman work, it's nice.

Gosh I love Batman ♥

omg I know, and Christian Bale is so superior. <33

I finally got round to seeing the new Superman movie last week, and, predictably, it was a bit disappointing imo. Sure, a lot of people got kicked in the face and Kevin Spacey made an excellent Lex Luther, but Superman himself (Brandon Routh) seemed wooden. From his dialogue to facial expressions. I couldn't tell if it was due to a bad script or sheer bad acting, (I'm inclining to the latter) but something just wasn't there.

=[

There's a new Superman movie? Haha I didn't even know :x

Speaking of movies, has anyone seen The Forbidden Kingdom? It was hilarious. XD

I wanted to go see it, but I never went. :<
Was it good? :o

*delurks and raises hand* Word. It's such an awesome movie, if only because of drunk!Jackie Chan. I wish I could kick that much tail when I'm that inebriated.

A new Superman movie? :o And drunk Jackie Chan? Wonder if he can do martial arts just as good when he's not drunk.

It hasn't come out in my country, but Jet Li pwns Jackie Chan at the moment, JC's getting on too much.

Though I was massively disappointed that their much awaited collab looks more of a westernised time travelling slapstick. T_T

Still looks good though.

I've only looked at trailers and stuff for that movie, but it looks pretty good. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of Jackie Chan as an actor, but I'd still watch the movie. :>

That movie looks incredible, it's been far too long since we've gotten a new Mummy movie, I hope the plan to make two more movies in the main series and two more in the Scorpion King series comes to fruition.

They're both the most overrated martial artists out there.

That said, I thought the movie was pretty funny, though not as a good as their lower budget works.

So wait...wait a minute, there's a new Superman movie????

I mean I know they are going to make anothe Hulk movie, but Superman too?? oO

Oh, my God, you do not know how happy I am that they're remaking that Hulk movie. I saw the first Hulk movie a couple years ago and it was terrible. The Hulk didn't even look that great. He looked kind of like Shrek. :x

This new Hulk movie looks much better, and I'm definitely going to see it.

They made him look like Eric Bana though o.o
I quite liked the Hulk movie… after I saw it a third time o.o;
I'm not looking forward to a remake… I mean I want a sequel.

But it is a sequel (isn't it?)... the one with Edward Norton. Because he's already the hulk, and he starts out in exile. They just chose a better actor to portray him (cause Norton is the bomb at any oddball/creepy guy) and they made the graphics look better because it's a few years later... I mean look at the difference between ep. II and III of Star Wars...

It isn't a sequel. It was planned as one, but Ed Norton wanted no ties to the one in 2003. XD; I wouldn't blame him either, that was a horrible movie.
