The only thing I don't like about Square Enix games is their cuts scenes are really good, but the game graphics are really shabby. They could have made both the cut scenes and the game graphics the same...

I can't believe I just said that.. XD;

Now that can't apply to TWEWY. I actually love how it looks, and the music is nice too.

hmm, maybe I'm being too critical of the game.

FFXII had gorgeous ingame graphics and the FMVs literally made my jaw drop. Too bad the story and characters were sacrificed. =/

Yeah, FFXII's story line.. Was weak and lost me half the time.. o.o

I can't even remember what it was about.. >_>;

I don't suppose you've played, say, Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Outcast, Empire at War, the first two games in the Rogue Squadron series, the first two games in the Battlefront series, or the Lego Star Wars games, now have you?

The Star Wars franchise is obviously not immune to the problems inherent to licensed games, but there really are some good games based on it nonetheless.
I don't suppose you bothered to read my post more clearly did you? I said "movie games". Such as games BASED OFF the movie.
And to answer your question Jack.... Yes I have played Jedi Outcast, all three Rogue Squadron games, I own both Battlefront games, and I do own Lego Star Wars. Would you like me to name off other Star Wars games I have played? I can go all the way back to the SNES if need be...
Now next time you think you know it all you might want to check up on yourself. Because if you don't then you might just end up looking like a fool.... just like now.
Have I played every Star Wars game? No. Have I played every movie game? No. But at least I don't go off saying "You haven't played ... have you? I didn't think so." like you did just now.

One of the only problems I've heard is it's too hard at some points. (This is true)
One of the problems I FOUND was that the cutscenes before boss battles are waaaay too long. (I hope people agree or I'll feel dumb ;; )

...But that's not enough to make me even think it's not a fun game (b' ')b
Noooooooo cutscenes are good. XD
I personally love cutscenes and FMVs. And from what I've played in TWEWY I don't think they're too long.

I didn't say the were BAD, I like the a lot, I just hate how long they are before you get that one sticker that lets you retry a boss. TWEWY has the best dialogue I've seen in a while :/

...I'm just impatient XD;

For some reason, when it came to RPGs I always liked to watch something and not play it. I know it sounds strange, I mean I'm playing a game. But like in KH, or FF games I liked it better when a cutscene or FMV came up. XD
So you enjoyed having to watch that like...5 minute cutscene again every time you lost the second fight against Riku in KH? Or before the final boss of FFX? XD

I also really like them in Tales games. I don't know why, I just like them so much in them games.... I guess some might say I don't like the gameplay or whatever. But that's not it because I like the gameplay in Tales games better then FF games... blah. XD
Then again.... the FMVs in Final Fantasy X........pure awesome.

Games with good stories are always addicting, has anyone played the Golden Sun series for the GBA? Now that was a two part epic.

Personally, video games based on theatrical releases have usually sucked in my book. Some excepts to that have been Goldeneye, some of the Star Wars Saga games that aren't based on the movies itself but side stories like Shadow of the Empire or the up coming Star Wars the Force Unleashed, and ... well that was a short list...

An SNES game that was not good and based off of a movie: Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie: The Videogame...

Final thought: it's one thing to base videogames on a movie, but how about on a tv commercial? On my Player's Choice-10 machine (a Nintendo arcade machine from the NES era), it has a game on it called "Yo Noid" based off of a Dominos commercial character... that steals pizza... and wasn't a bad game..

I liked TWEWY. Quite a bit, actually. The art style, music, and brand system worked really well together, in my opinion, and brought something new to the table. The dialogue was actually witty, which is hard to come across in a game (five words: the pudding of their doom. Lol, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga reference FTW). It kinda had the whole "kingdom hearts" feel, in that it was a square enix game that wasn't final fantasy but had similar elements and was awesome.

What irked me, however, was the battle system. I swear that it is humanly impossible to fight with two characters at the same time. I mean, I mashed the d-pad for the character on the upper screen and only payed attention to the character on the lower screen, and that was still hard. If anyone has developed some ability to fight correctly with both characters at once, please tell me.

I didn't really have a prob with that. XD

I think any game not based off of a movie has room to expand outside of the movie. Take for example, Star Wars Rogue Squadron games. They aren't based "on" the movie, they're based "around" it. Meaning they're able to expand the series and are able to make the game better. Were lets say.... Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It was based off the movie thus having to stay within the realm of that movie. It didn't have any room to make the game better. And that's where most movie games fail, they have no breathing room.

I wouldn't say it's impossible. I get by fairly well with the battle system (I personally really love the battle system). Sure I don't pay as much mind to the top screen as I do the bottom (and nor do I let the computer play for me). But I get it to work out fairly good when I'm in battles..... I just don't really dodge much. XD

That is a good point, a great plot is what makes a video game good (or one of the things) like the Grand Theft Auto series (3 and up) had powerful story lines that tied me to the character and made me love the game more. Rogue Squadron III however was amusing to play some classic scenes from the original trilogy, but left me feeling like i was missing something. Since most movies are 3 hours long or less, you're left with a lot of filler for a game based on it.

I really don't care for the battle system in TWEWY. It's pretty awkward and hard to manage. I'm still E ranking a lot, though I have been getting more higher ranks lately, the more I play.

And you guys talking about movie based games sucking...which normally they do. I've played a few that were actually really, really good and could stand on their own as just games though. The Lord of the Rings games and the Star Wars Ep. III game (the GBA/DS one, not the console one) are really good.

After buying the Spiderman games and PoTC for my DS, I'm going to stray far from any games based off movies. To me, any game that comes out for EVERY console and handheld is a bad game, and movie games usually fit this category.

I rented Finding Nemo for the GameCube a few years back... that what when I first realized that movie based games weren't really worth it. I did, however, get the SpongeBob SquarePants: The Movie for PS2 a year or so ago, and as bad it that was, it was strangely addictive (and strangely similar to other SpongeBob video games out there).

Speaking of Finding Nemo, I played the GBA game a few years back. I got to level two and had no idea what I was supposed to do XDD;

Oh God Spongebob games XD;
I got one a few years ago on the PS2. The graphics were PS1, it was horrible ;;

The SpongeBob games made me laugh so hard, but I sat there for four hours once trying to beat one. It was either really hard or I'm just a crappy gamer. XD;

If anyone has developed some ability to fight correctly with both characters at once, please tell me.
So long as it isn't Beat, I can do it. :D Beat's requires a LOT more concentration and I haven't quite mastered controlling him AND Neku at the same time. However, for the other two, I don't really have a problem checking on Neku on the bottom screen, choosing a pin to use and using it--and then as I start that, glancing back up to the top screen to match the number/symbol if need be. Joshua's is the easiest since you don't have to remember anything and it's more straight-forward. But yeah, once you're on track to match the symbol, check back on Neku and select another pin to spam the enemies with and so on. It really helps to be able to link pins (ie: similar executions) to have longer to watch the top screen. |D

I stay away from movie games too. There are a few gems here and there, but for the most part, games directly ported from a movie are terrible excuses for video games. <_<

I've tried fighting with Shiki, but every time I so, something hits Neku, so I go back to using him. It's not that I can't use her, it's that I don't wanna die while I do it XD

XD It's really hard when there are a lot of enemies on both screens, and sometimes it's just easier to use the top screen and drag Neku constantly around the bottom to avoid getting hurt. I like using Joshua in battle because he can float up in the air and avoid enemies on the ground and his attacks do more damage. I find it more useful than his sidestep since he can't block. <_<
