I think a lot of the time we (or at least I) never feel perfect about our themes is because we look at the themes of other people and judge ours by theirs.
For example, I got my new Yoko theme up. I worked on it for hours or whatever. A few days (or weeks or whatever) down the road Chika got a new Yoko theme and I was like "Hm... I could have done this to make mine just a little better." but I looked back over my banner, liked it and went on. And the same thing when others made Yoko banners and "Hey, look at this Andy" (Both David and Jorfe made Yoko themes and I went "Well... I could have done this better...). But if I step back and say "Well, this banner is awesome" not judging it by any other banners then I should be ok with my themes. Because no matter how good I make my banner I will always see someone else's banner and go "Wow... I wish mine was like that.".
Does this mean I won't "clean up" my Yoko banner... nah because part of me likes to work on themes (just to work on them).
Couldn't agree more, Arcanine. With this Roxas theme, I see other types of banners with different effects and such that bring me thinking, "hey, maybe if that was there."
I was even thinking about changing this theme to another. Though, when I step back from everything and look at it, this one is absolutely incredible. I really wouldn't change a pixel on it.

Sometimes I just wish I could plug my brain straight into a printer of flash drive and print what's in there because then I'll know it's perfect.
I've thought that so many times... heck I wish I had the skill (rather tools) to create such amazing banners like you all, I want that mind printer >8D. Back when I used to be an artist, I never really got out what I pictured in my head, rarely ever better. I was still content with my work , it's frustrating not to get it perfectly out of your head to what you want.
Though, since I'm a requester, not a graphic creator I get something a whole lot better then I expect. For example, back when DC made me a Beach-Roxas theme, I let him do whatever he wanted and it turned out a whole lot better then I expected. So when I request themes, I simply request with very few limits or "request fields" so I let the graphics maker do as they please, and the end result is a whole lot better then I expect. :D I think requesting is a whole lot more surprising then actually designing it.
Up to this point, I really have liked all the themes I've been able to use by such great graphic designers, of course I never got perfectly comfortable feeling with them judging by other banners. Though, I feel like I found "the one" with this current theme. Won't be changing anytime soon, that's for sure. (b'')b
