Is it even that hard too get an A in year 11 and 12? I mean, you should have gained the knowledge since other grades and be working at year 11 standard anyway, so if you are in year 11 and you get an A it is like being in year 5 and getting an A.

I love it when I get an A, I feel like I have worked hard and achieved something. Pity I don't get many A's in my schooling life. I got 5 last term though, so I was very proud of myself then. My mum even bought me SSBB since I got 5 A's:)

yeah it's hard to get an A in year 11 and 12, since they expect you to know what you're doing and such

Well if you listen, you should know what you are doing. Besides don't they teach you about everything before exams and stuff?

That is a bit unfair, I don't think it would work that way, man I can't wait until Senior School:)

life is unfair, you just gotta learn stuff ahead of the class and keep studying the same stuff over and over again to get those A's, though I really never did that and just got C's for putting no effort into assignments

A's are obviously only easy to get in classes that you're good at...

Which is why I got an A last semester for Accounting. :D

And the fun thing is, I failed three out of five exams last semester and only failed one class!

ohgod I love that. ♥ I hate graphing or drawing things because it takes SO LONG unless you're just supposed to sketch (in which case it still takes a while, bah), but I just adored the deductive, inductive proofs and whatnot. 8D Cryptography is really, really interesting too.
Anything with sketching is a pain, and since we weren't allowed graphics calculators, we had to do it all. But yeah, though deductive geometry required a whole lot of writing, it was nice setting it all out and showing all your working and what you did on each line and omg I'm so lame ;o;

Oh gosh, there was this one assignment we had to do on parabola's, and it all had to be done on the computers at school. The problems were though that 1. It was only on the iMacs in one room, 2. there weren't enough for all the students in the subject to be on them at once and 3. they were Macs, haha. I hated parabola's anyway.

Probably only to see if you're reading the book. 8/ I mean, if you're reading and you don't know the names of the characters and who they are, you're going to fail and not understand any of the book... which defeats the whole point of reading it. But a lot of people won't read it if they aren't going to be tested on it.
That's all and good, but they should be testing you on something more important like the meaning of the actual text or asking you to reflect on it or examine it. Such low level requirements do nothing to help progress the development of thinking in students. Plus, as well as showing that they've read the text, it shows that they understand it.

Also, *high fives Zet*

We were allowed to use graphing calculators for everything in high school except quizzes, tests, and exams. So basically it was pointless to use one unless you were checking your work or else you'll get dependent on it. I got dependent on my other calculator anyway. XD It had built-in functions for finding roots, unknowns, etc. :( When I got to uni and they banned us from all but 3 basic calculators, I was sad. Everything seemed to take longer. XD But yeah, I liked proofs and stuff because you don't need a calculator and they're just so much fun to work out. 8D I hate memorizing proofs though. I suck at memorization. ;_;'

Also lol that sounds terrible. :( I hated parabolas when I first learnt them too, sorta. Now I wonder why the hell I'd whine about them when I'm looking at graphs to the power of 7 with secants and... augh. XD

Well, when we had Shakespeare quizzes, we'd have one every week or something and a few easy marks would be like matching with the characters' names and roles or important actions. :| And sadly, that is important because if people can't even get THAT right (and they couldn't), then they can't be expected to understand what the passage is supposed to mean.

I didn't like studying Shakespeare in school only because everyone was so stupid. >8/ We read versions with "translations" in the margin or whatever, so any weird phrases were given in modern English to help with understanding, but they couldn't even get through the basic parts of the book. I know most people just read the few translations and based their understanding of the book off of that. :| Whereas I... actually kinda liked reading it. *dork*

Hopefully you'll be reading Hamlet in grade 12. I actually really liked it, compared to the other Shakespeare they had us reading. (I didn't mind Macbeth though. At least you probably won't have to read King Lear. I didn't like that one at all. XD)

Actually, I do have to read Hamlet next year. From what I've heard of it though, I don't think I'll actually hate this one. XD I just hope I get a teacher who makes things... somewhat interesting.

Oh God, I had to read Hamlet last year, and my english teacher assigned the most ridiculous project to it. We had to act out and film an entire act (not just a scene), edit it and burn it to a DVD to be seen on a television. The problem was that a lot of the people in my grade didn't have a videocamera, and if they did, they knew balls about video editing.

Gladly, I have a videocamera and I'm skilled in editing XD;;

Haha, that reminds me: I went to see Hamlet 2 the other day. Such a bad movie. :x

That's just ridiculous. o_O I thought acting out scenes was a stupid assignment--and I mean just in class. (I only had to do that in grade 9 and none of my other teachers bothered with crap like that afterwards.)

Haha, yeah I don't see movies like Hamlet 2 in theatres. :| I just wait for them to come on the Movie Network or something. I'm not spending my money on things like that. XD

The worst possible assignment I have done was going outside and catching snails. I am pretty sure we did it to examine them, like their eyes and the slime they leave behind and stuff. Most of my friends spent the 45 minutes in a lesson killing snails instead of catching them. It was quite annoying.

The only movies I actually watch in the cinema are ones with action and horror:)

with regards to the school work and such, I'd say go do drama, it's heaps of fun trying out new things and meeting different people, it was pretty much the only class I actually loved. Plus it helps when it comes to some english assignments if you have to act or talk about Shakespeare stuff

I did Drama last term as an elective. It was great fun I admit, since we got to act and had a very nice teacher. He let us swear haha. I am definitely going to do Tech next year as an elective. I just love messing with wooden work and electronics:)

I love doing drama. Well, writing it to be honest. I can't seem to play anything other than an old lady. :/

Mind you, when I do play a grandma you'd better get out of my way.

"MAKE TEA NOT LOVE!!"

;D

No on drama for me; my school has the creepiest teacher for it. He's really gross and like.. a pedophile D:
