Wikipedia says: "Improvisational theatre (also known as improv or impro) is a form of theatre in which the actors use improvisational acting techniques to perform spontaneously. Actors typically use audience suggestions to guide the performance as they create dialogue, setting, and plot extemporaneously. Improvisational theatre performances tend to be comedic, although some forms, including Playback Theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed, are not necessarily intended to be comedic."

So basically to answer you're question, when we say improv we mean improvisational theater, or acting. Nothing to do with (improving?), or reality television.

I'm still very much convinced that most, if not all, of reality TV is scripted anyway.

Yeah, I have to agree :x Most of reality TV seems way too interesting to be real. I mean honestly, how many people have lives that are that interesting? And I know you could argue "That's why they're on TV D:", but still, lots of the things that are said seem way to... corny, to be real XD

I know exactly what you mean. I was in the room when my big sister was (excesively) watching the Hills, and I couldn't help think, this is so fake! I mean, every single argument and relationship in the show seems like it came out of the mind of like "The One Tree Hill"'s top writer.

I also wondered if they could do a better job writing xD

Actually reality TV is real. You try spending time on an island with little food and no technology and you're be like the people on survivor too.

And how would you know this? Do you personally know and trust someone who's been on reality TV? I've always assumed these people would just be paid extra to keep quiet and continue acting like it was real even afterward (not that I EVER hear about people from reality TV shows after they're kicked off, ahaha).

Personally, I don't care if it's real or fake. XD;
If I find it to be interesting, I'll just go ahead and watch it. ._.;

well I believe it, but then again on their breaks they could be given food but I don't get how they eat the gross stuff on it.

My best freind's old nanny was a competitor for survivor, her name was Jennifer Lyon and I really hope she wasn't a lier. After the competition, she came all the way over to Japan to visit my freinds family. Once there, naturaly she was bombarded with questions, and of course the question of if it is scripted popped up. She said: "At some points they kind of nudge you to act a certain way, but you can make you're own decisions".

I would like to think that is the truth, but you never know. As for shows like "The Hills", and "Laguna Beach" on the other hand....... I am not sure xD

I know someone who was on survivor. They are honestly treated the way it is shown on. the crew are not allowed to interact with the contestants and jeff probst does not remain in contact with the tribes.

After they are voted off, the contestants are sent to a nice section of an island where they have feasts and very nice amenities.

Also, when the contestant is voted off, when they walk out of the cameraman's view, a crew member hands them a plate of choclate chip cookies. No joke.

By the way, the guy I know is Gabriel Cade.

'Kay, no matter what my Hills-obsessed friend might argue with me, I firmly believe that The Hills is scripted. I can't see anything about that show being at all realistic.

I'd also like to know why people give a damn about these peoples' lives. >:

EDIT// The bassist of the band, The Academy Is... (Adam Siska), his brother was on the Fans vs. Favourites season of Survivor - Jason Siska. I never tuned in because I'm not a Survivor fan, but it was awesome that Sisky Business' brother was on. :>

You know what I hate, when there's a reality TV show then a sequel to that show..and so on. :<
It's like GOD how many shows are you going to have?!

Honestly, I think most of the Reality TV is real. You can see the laughable acting on some shows and realise that the Reality must be real. Sorry, that sounded broken.

Do you even know what Reality TV is? XD Reality TV is like The OC, or The Hills. It's all planned out to make it look like the teenager's life in [wherever the show is set]. But they're stretching it out way too much. Although it may have a realistic base, it gets stretched into something completely fake and acted. Hardly any "Reality TV" is real.

Another reason why I hate The Hills' existence. As if we didn't get enough of Lauren what's-her-face the first time. :<

Huh? I always had the impression that it was the unscripted filming of real people put into situations. Such as Survivor or Big Brother.

Am I allowed to change the subject since it's been over 6 hours since the last post?

I'd just like to mention what a sorry state the DCC is in after all these years of using it as an active chatroom. Any ideas for restoring it to such a state?

I actually quite prefer it as is--keeping the same topic for quite a while and moving much slower. 8] I was never really able to participate years and years ago when it moved really quickly and DID act just like a chatroom simply because I'm not that good at speed posting. :[

That's not reality TV. Reality TV is like Big Brother or Beauty and the Geek, like Archer kinda says.

OC and The Hills are like movies, acted on purpose.
