Kai censors plenty. I mean Blue Mr. Popo for heavens sake!

I believe cause Naruto was Toonami program, and Bleach was Adult Swim. So since Toonami dissolved Naruto was no longer apart of the programming. Not to mention they would also have to buy the rights to Shippuden as well.

I never said Kai didn't censor much. Two different paragraphs bro. -.-

I wish I could dub an anime here. It always looked so fun to me. o_o

I'd seriously do it for free if it meant something super-niche being able to release here that otherwise wouldn't, not to mention that it helps to build a resume.

Whaaaaaat? They had L'Arc-en-ciel, Bonnie Pink, and Judy and Mary do songs for that show. Awesomely awesome songs.

I'm not very big on J-Pop anyway, so we're probably judging the music by different standards.

Technically, it was Nelvana that was responsible for cutting up Cardcaptor Sakura, not 4Kids.

I see. They're a Canadian company, yeah?

I have no idea what you were watching, because I never really noticed that much censorship in the American broadcast of Bleach. Most, if not all, of the blood was actually kept in, as far as I know.

If anything, it's the Japanese version of Bleach that's become much more censored over the years. Most of the blood is black now, extra-violent scenes like

were toned down significantly, etc.

PreCure aimed at Japanese kids? I thought it was like most Mahou Shoujo series aimed at the Otaku market. Of course there is some overlap but it's probably more correct to say a series like Jewelpet or something.

Gotta love 4kids.

Precure is enormously popular among young Japanese girls. It consistently achieves near-top ratings among animated series (generally topped only by Sazae-san and Doraemon...if Doraemon is still even on) and is an enormous marketing machine. I don't think they'd shove the plastic goodies down everyone's throats so conspicuously if the show was being supported by a small adult otaku base.

Even worse than Sanji having a lollipop was making him sound like Joey Wheeler.

Precure ranks in the top ten most of the time at least, but there are usually things like Detective Conan, Pokemon, and One Piece ahead of it outside of other two mainstays.

I love following Japanese TV ratings for some reason. XD

Just got done watching the first two episodes of Agito, and I really liked them! XD

The anime I used to watch as a kid were Pokemon, Detective Conan and Yugioh. God, those bring back memories XD

BROOKLYN RAGE!!!

As for precure I may have been a bit mistaken, Its adult fanbase is not small though, wouldn't be surprised if more merch was shipped to older fans than the casual kids.

Ooh, you did? :D Awesome! Always glad when I lure another person into liking this stuff. XD

Its fanbase among adults is still pretty small, it's a kids thing through and through.

I've never actually seen Precure on TV, I might have skipped it, not sure.

@Jorge, I don't know whether to be happy you introduced me to it, or mad because I'm going to spend all my time watching it XD Oh and I sent you a PM with the summaries of them :0

Its ratings seriously aren't as high as Detective Conan or Pokemon? Huh. One Piece I can understand, its popularity is truly and thoroughly deserved.

I've heard It's gets more of Toei's budget than One Piece. It is a fun series if you can handle the monster of the week format.

I think it initially started out as a Kids show but they've introduced more stuff as it's gone along to appeal to a wider audience. Heartcatch Precure! was really popular with the older audience, i'm pretty sure Suite will be the same.

Well, it can beat Pokemon at times since the anime has points where it'll really pick up in viewership if there's a real world event going on related to game news or something big is happening in the anime, but that is pretty rare.

Sazae-san ~ 20.3%
Maruko ~ 15.0
Shin-chan ~ 10.9%
Doraemon ~ 9.4%
One Piece ~ 9.3%
Detective Conan ~ 7.2%
Toriko ~ 6.8%
Pokemon BW ~ 6.0%
Suite Precure ~ 5.7%
Tanagochi ~ 4.6%

That was last week's top ten. The top six or so are usually always going to be the same, it's the others that can be variable. This week's ratings were actually kind of low for Conan, I think it usually scores around 8% or so.

Precure tends to have these really amazing looking early and final episodes and everything in between depends on the animation directors of those episodes. One Piece is usually pretty high budget.

Eh, it's still a kids show through and through. XD Yeah, there is an older fanbase and that's cool for Toei, extra money, yay, but it's still a show that airs at 9 AM on Sundays aimed a 10 year old girls. They don't produce any sort of merchandise for older fans outside of the Figuarts. Heartcatch was popular for two reasons I think, the two lead actresses and the character designer, no one really talked about Precure before that.

I haven't watched Conan but /a/ seems to think it's been stagnant in the past year or so (they hate everything though if you don't visit). It's pretty amazing for a series to still be popular after so ling, I might actually give a couple of volumes a read soon.

Pokemons that low? I honestly thought it would be higher since it's somewhat of an original and all. I've never heard of some of them, but I'm guessing they come on the same channel? (ABC?) I think I'll go record those series and check them out. Conan's pretty old, it's still coming out with new episodes right?

Have you ever seen Law and Order or any of those procedural shows? Yeah, it's basically an anime version of that. There is a plot going on, but it will always crawl along really slowly. Junichi's been a kid for like 15 years now. XD

These are actually Japanese TV ratings. :P They air on different channels, Precure is on TV Asahi and I think Pokemon is TV Tokyo. And yeah, Conan still gets new episodes and movies, I don't think it's going to end any time soon.

Wow, well that was a fail :x

Doesn't Precure come on an American channel? And Case Closed came on CN before, but it got taken off, so I'm not really sure which channel it comes on either. Anyone know? Sorry for asking so many questions x.x

I'm pretty sure it's currently being aired on some crappy sky channel over here, not sure about the US though.

There's too much Imouto in Oremo's latest special. :(

It definitely must get more budget than One Piece, which has had pretty average to sub-par animation since the Impel Down arc (barring the important episodes when they splurge on better animation directors and whatnot.)

I tried to watch a few episodes of the original Pretty Cure after enjoying the more recent ones and I'm finding it a bit difficult. I'll probably still make it through the rest eventually because it's not bad by any means, but back then they were just creating the formula and understandably future series have been able to expand on it.

Precure didn't even hit 6%? Wow, I suppose I overestimated its popularity. In the world of anime a 6% still makes a show a juggernaut, though. I'm also surprised that Toriko is doing so well so early, though as I understand it, the manga is incredibly popular and it's even dethroned Bleach in the "big three" of Shounen Jump alongside One Piece and Naruto. I'm saving up a few months' worth of episodes before I watch any because the first 20+ episodes of any shounen series are always dull exposition and world-building, no matter how great the show ends up being.

I'm waiting until they're all out before I watch any, but if Kuroneko isn't the star of the specials I'll rage.

I'd better get on watching those, then. I know who you're talking about, I've seen pics of her on Danbooru, but I can't remember her name either.

On another note, I'm planning to download Madoka after I finish downloading Agito. From what I heard about form all of you, it's worth downloading. Just wondering, do you guys watch anime online or download it?
