Well i know a bit of the generic French, Spanish and German mainly from me studying them at school. I was never as good at Spanish and French as i was with German.

So does that mean you had to study them all? I used to have to study both spanish and french, but now it's only spanish. I know portuguese because i visit the country very often, and know portuguese peeps there. The only spanish phrase that pops into my head at random intervals is "Sacad el boli verde!" which translates as "get your green pens out!"

I blame my teacher.

Oh, languages! Here is my extensive list of languages I understand:

English

Yep, my secondary school was great at teaching me French. I know as much as the day before I ever entered a class. The only other language I know is Japanese, but I only know a word or phrase or two which I've picked up from watching subs. But still, the fact that I've learnt even a few words or phrases is amazing for me.

Foreign languages... German is my best. It's easier to learn than what people at my school have made it out to be, but then again, more than half of my class hardly pays attention to what the teacher is saying anyway. I also know enough Japanese to get by a day in Japan, and progress continues smoothly in terms of learning. American Sign Language was my first language other than my mother tongue, which was kind of necessary considering the fact that my mom is deaf.

The only Spanish phrase I've ever felt the need to know is "¿Dónde está el baño?"

That's funny...we talked about learning foreign languages in my Psychology class today. I only know some Spanish (but I've almost forgot what I've learned from high school). I really should consider trying to actually learn a language (and maintain what I've learned).

I would say we've done languages already, but that was the '08 Daily Chit Chat. XD

English, of course, followed by a few phrases and possibly being able to carry on a short conversation in French. I dislike Spanish (just the language XD), and I always wanted to take German but our high school only offered French and Spanish. They offered Latin later, but it was too much work to attempt to catch up.

I'm looking forward to taking at the very least Japanese I-II when I transfer schools in the fall.

Well if that's what is only what is needed in Spanish...This song's for you. XD Our Spanish 2 teacher kept on playing it over and over again during the first few weeks of class...

XD

Eh...Finals start tomorrow until Friday for me. ;_; Oh well free time for Algebra 2...^_^

Bye for now. =P

And a bit of Spanish [just enough to survive].
Only, Brazil's language is Portuguese... good luck surviving.

Or are the languages extremely similar to the point of being somewhat interchangeable?

But I believe all of Brazil's neighbours(ie Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia) are all Spanish-speaking countries. Similarly to why I know a little French, given the fact that Quebec is just down the road from here. XD
Oh. God damn, this is why I hate living on a group of islands. There are no alternative languages to grow up with.
Though really there should be English, Cornish, Welsh, Gaelic, Scots Gaelic and Manx. Shame everyone speaks English now. ):

Well back in the Philippines (Also a group of 2100+ inhabited Islands) there's 7 Native Languages I think plus Hundreds of Dialects. (Well can be considered other languages due to the fact you can't understand them even if you know one variation. XD)

Foreign languages? I know a bit of French, but my better subject would be Irish. I think that learning foreign languages is pointless, because whenever you go to France, Spain or somewhere else that doesn't speak English as the vernacular, everyone wants to try out their English on you and you don't get to speak with them in their language at all. That's the case in my experience, at least.
You know Irish? That's pretty cool :3 Even if you don't know it (as I might've misread your sentence), it's cool that you'd be learning it.

I took one year of French, German, and am forced to take my second year of Spanish (my new school doesn't have a German teacher, and everybody at my other school chose Spanish so I didn't want to be the only freshman in German >.>).

Still loving the theme, Rekhyt. Though I don't know if you know about Riviera at all... XD It's an awesome game, believe me peoples. I ish a gamer, ftw

They asked which foreign languages I know, and Portuguese is not a foreign language to me, you see.

edit; And yes, Riviera is win.
I used to have a Fiaa theme, actually.

OMG yall I am like so sick...is the flu going around or something. I know like 5 other people that got it recently.
Aw D= Well, I hope you feel better soon; it's not fun being sick D=

And do you still have the theme somewhere, Rikanai? I'd love to see it :3

Up until recently I was using a theme based on Serene (which I made myself; it was my first time using CSS).

I noticed (considering I am such a creeper on Twitter). :D
The same thing is going around here as well. Fortunately it has not gotten to me and hopefully it stays that way. I hope you feel better.
