The only region I didn't "finish" the game (E4 and National dex) was 3rd gen. I got discouraged when I realized I had to buy Coliseum and XD for things like Umbreon/Espeon, Lugia and Ho-oh. I had the money for them, sure, but it irked me so bad I refused to pay up. Then again, this is the same person who owns every version of the traditional pokemon games, so it's not like I'm not gullible. :D

On the subject of E4, I don't use legends unless I'm in a hurry. For example, I'm one of the poor souls who played through FR/LG 3 times in a row to get Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, so I used everything available to beat the E4 quickly and move on.

When fighting the Elite Four, I use every method available at my disposal, even deploying legendaries in combat if I have them and they're suitably up to fighting standard. Victory is better than the "honour" you may perceive in not exploiting every opportunity given to you.

To me, it isn't about honor. Just like in the original Final Fantasy, you limit yourself on purpose to make the game more challenging.

'Kay, to be entirely honest (I just remembered this, btw), I used a couple of Pokemon on my Platinum E4 challenge that I ported over from my Diamond. Specifically a level 80~ Blastoise, 60~ Absol and 50~ Lucario. Ehehehe.

D/P/P had the easiest E4 I've ever seen.

Hoenn's was hard, I agree. Wallace was a jerk. ;o;

It toke me about 6 tries to beat the Elite. But that was probally because most of my guys were only 50 something, and I tink the Elite's were 70? I don't remeber right now.

What?! Hoenn was easy, I beat them with an actual team, easily, and under-leveled.
3rd and 4th gen were both easy if you ask me. Of course, most of us older players have high standards for what's "hard", since we've been playing this for 10 years.

Personally, I still think that Lance and his multiple Dragonite barrage was the hardest. It was a little easier in second gen, but he's still quite challenging, moreso than the others.

Hey, I have been playing the game for ten years also, so I have standards for what's hard, too. :< I agree fourth generation elite is easy, though I'm able to get a good team. I already mentioned why I thought the third generation is hard: I remember them using attacks that are more status changing attacks and not Physical attacks. True, many times I'm able to beat the Pokemon easily, but once the Elite makes the command, sometimes it's an annoyance when you get hit with Confuse Ray a thousand times. :x

Actually, I'm able to beat Lance very easily when I"m able to train at least my Dewgong, so I'm able to get through his multiple Dragonite very fast. :P

It's really only two 4th generation Elite Four Pokemon that give me trouble - Garchomp and Bronzong. The rest are cake.

In 3rd gen, all I recall was Emerald's Wallace abusing Double Team and stretching the battle out for 10+ minutes. I actually found Steven easier 'cause Blaziken could just pwn him.

2nd gen's Elite Four was cake. Last time I played Crystal, Lapras + Ice Beam = Smell ya later, Lance!

This is the same for me. In D/P/Pt, I always had trouble with the E4 until I gave up and traded my Lv. 100 Swampert.

In emerald I had no trouble at all, especially if I chose Torchic. It seemed quite easy.

Haha, Ice types really bite Lance, don't they? My Sneasel's Ice Punch was great against him.

Sneasel has bad SpAtk...
I used Tail Glow Volbeat + Shock Wave against Wallace.

For gen 2 I used an Alakazam with Goldenrod Punches.

I love how the e4 in Platinum are easier than in DP.
Just lead with a Stealth Rock and hit for the super effective. Bibarel used Rollout...

I don't ever remembering Ice Punch being a Special Attack.

Anyway, i'm getting psyched for Christmas time. Anyone else?
