Well as for me Here in California (or LAUSD) my path In Math is: (I'm in 10th Grade right now. =P)
(Grade)

Pre-Algebra (7) > Algebra 1 (8) > Geometry (9) > Algebra 2 (10)

Future stuff, I hope:

Pre-Calculus (11) > AP Calculus AB (12) or I could also take Statistics in Community College. =/ But too much school time! XD

Well thats it?
Wow... That's lucky XD
Here's my information on the math path:

7th, 8th, - Algebra 1 (I was in GT math in 7th, then went to Private School where Algebra 1 was the highest, I basically learned the same things in 8th).

9th - Later Algebra 1/Algebra2
9th - Algebra 1 (I switched schools during Christmas break, so guess who's learning the same stuff AGAIN? D=)

Yay for private school XD

Heh, I took the same Math class twice for 5th and 6th Grade. (I was in a private school then moved to another one. Same book. D=) Then Pre-Algebra for the 7th Grade here in Cali.

Some of my former classmates were in the Advanced Honors classes and took Geometry for 8th Grade. =O Lucky them, free period in 12th Grade. T_T

Also..."Bringing Sexy Back" O_o

... My schools all just went "maths > maths > maths > maths" and you get the idea.

The United States has a considerably higher standard of education than England... I'm thinking it'd be worthwhile of me to attend a college over there.
I should get me a maths qualification sometime since I want to take a computing course. I was so lame until the very end of year 11, which of course meant no more school for me.

At least I get to use chainsaws in what I'm doing right now.
Teacher: "Chaensorz r srs biznis."
Students: "lol k"

How do they trust us... :D

Speaking of Algebra, can anyone help me on something?

What the hell is a Cosine? And what in the world is that Σ sumation symbol thingy?

I know it's probably Calculus stuff but... seriously, I'm barely learning Inequalities this semester @~@.

Actually, "cosine" is more trigonometry, and the summation symbol is used more for Algebra, XD. Though yes, both show up in calculus.

Picture a right angle triangle, with sides A, B, and C, with C being the side with the longest length(hypotenuse), and angles θ between A & C, α between A & B, and β between B & C. Then say you want to find the "cosine" of angle θ. To do that, you use the "SohCahToa" rule, in which we only care about the "Cah," or "cosine-adjacent-hypotenuse" part. Thus, the cosine of θ is the length of the adjacent side(that isn't the hypotenuse) over that of the hypotenuse, or: cos(θ) = A/C. :D

As for the summation, it is used for repetitive calculations. Usually you'll find numbers above and/or below it, saying the starting value of whichever variable you're using, and the number of times the proceeding equation will be added to itself. ^^

EDIT: Wow, that sounded so nerdy. =P

I'm cool with all this Mathematics crap, just the odd figures such as ∑ and such confuse me.

I've been using the all-capital titles all the time here.

How about a very new topic...

Guitar Hero :D.

So what difficulty can any of y'all master Through the Fire and Flames?

I can only do hard.

I can NEARLY beat TtFaF on Hard.
I can smoke it on Medium.
Eckspert is insane.
I can't believe that that one dude got 100% on that.

My roommate now has World Tour, so we've been playing that for the past few days. As for Through the Fire and Flames, I'm incredibly close to beating it on expert. I fail halfway through the solo though D: (I can get 83% notes hit in practice O.O)...I've wasted much of my life on Guitar Hero XD

Aiyh, can we pweeze go back to le maths? Guitar Hero sucks. :P

Well I guess I don't really know, as I've never played it, XD. But it doesn't look appealing to me, heh.

No, the reason why I haven't posted here today is because you keep talking about math, and math puts me in despair...

However, is the topic only open to Guitar Hero? 'Cause I'm not really a fan.

Well,

then do you play a REAL Guitar?

Hellyesh I do, am I'm awesome at it.

Some songs are actually easier with the guitar than on Guitar Hero.

I play a real mean air guitar... Don't come near me when I'm in the middle of a crazy air solo. I can't even play Guitar Hero (fail on beginner! Alright!)... and I generally make fun of people who do, but don't actually apply themselves to learning a real instrument.

Is that socially acceptable, or am I a terrible person?

As long as no one finds out, you'll be alright.

If you ever say you can't even do beginner, that would be S.S. (Social Suicide)
