That's something. And I agree if the so-called "n00bs" can be "kept" out, things would go rather smoothly.

But then again we could start talking about "disenfranchisement" XDDD

Lol....You and your love of crazy new ideas. I think in the actual thread you started that got moved to Q&F, one of your posts took up my whole browser XD
Ohman.
That is a lot of writing.
I don't think i could manage that in a day of writing.
At least not without rambling, and going off into twenty different subjects.

I am not whining over this, Volkner.

Actually, I really like this idea, and I'm interested in what the guildlines are to vote for a 'PC President'.

Second, the whole tallying up the votes, I know Erica doesn't wanna do it. XD So why is it that regular members couldn't be trusted counting the votes? I mean, we're all very much trusted when we request to host MotM and it's not like you've seen any swayed votes during those contests (BB doesn't crush me 2,000 to 3 in Favorite Male, lolz.) So my best idea would be first, who on the staff would be willing to tally and second, that/those staff members could pick a council of trusted regular members who'd be interested in counting. I for one probably wouldn't run, but I'd love to count up the votes and help announce the winner.
We used IP addresses to make sure the votes were unique. We didn't allow people using the same computer to both vote (ie, one vote per "household" if need be). IPs are only available to mods and it's bad to give 'em out so... XD;

I think the people who did the counting for the last one just ignored IP addresses though. x_o

And I really love Lightning's semi-annual idea. It'd give the winner enough time to say "yay, I'm PC President! :3" and bask in it until July where a superspecialawesometime would come back, everyone would get excited, and elections would resume.
Thinking about it, annually might make more sense. :[ A lot of time was taken up for "campaigning" and that would get annoying really fast if it were a semi-annual thing.
I also understand that staff are members too, yet I believe it was brought up in the discussion thread about this that just to be fair, staff wouldn't be allowed to run (given they're already well known commodities with a permanent position.) Of course I wouldn't mind if everyone was allowed to run, as long as we had it!
Staff were never allowed to run and they wouldn't be again. :B
And again, to stop n00bs from voting, you have certain guidelines for voters, maybe an Approval to Vote system could be set up where staff screens the eligible voters (as well as whose eligible to run for President, obviously there'd be a few pre-qualifications.)
Last time(s), I'm pretty sure you had to have at least 50 posts to vote and your join date had to be 3 months back or something to be sure the account wasn't just created and kept up with for the sake of rigging votes.
..Sorry I just really love new ideas and functions. XD I'm not really this gun-ho about it, it's just a really unique and fun concept that would be easy to implement if managed correctly.

and to those who are all emo and say 'ugh..it's just a popularity contest/it'll ruin the community..' what kind of an attitude is that? :P
I know, I love discussing stuff even if it never goes anywhere. So much fun. 8D;

It's a v. important attitude! 'Cause I mean omg omg popularity contest? :( On a Pokemon forum? IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD.

^_^ haha, yeah, I mean if there's never any discussion of ideas, they're never implemented.

Well actually, I know this was brought up in the other thread too, but what about the voters PM their choice? That way there wouldn't be as much worry about double-voting. I know you might say, 'but it'd be so cluttered with someone's actual PMs', well then have a staff member make an alternate account/use one they already have for people to send votes to. Then it can just be counted up there! (Again, yeah, a staff member would have to do it but I'm sure one of the mods wouldn't mind! XD)

And yes, annually seems just peachy too, gives the President more time to bask in their glory. :P Not to mentioning campaigning in different areas of the forum might actually take quite some time. If PC elections were held, say, every June (good month, considering it's the start of 'school's out!' for pretty much everyone) you could start the campaign stuff in February. And technically it becomes much less of a 'popularity contest' when all of the already popular staff members aren't allowed to run.

Also in favor of the 50 posts/3 months thing. ^_^ That seems fair for voters. I think in order to run, it'd be a bit higher.

It sounded like an idea a cool cat would come up with, but after seeing the protocol spelled out by Lightning I can understand why some people are reluctant to take part in it. Meh, it sounds cool. It'd be great if it did happen, but if it doesn't, are any of us going to lose our lives over it?

Certainly not haha, but again, when I brought up the topic up, I was just wondering why no one had 'put the nail in the coffin' with legit reasons as to why it can't be implemented. (Laziness is no excuse XD)

I'm fine if we don't, I just think it'd go pretty smoothly with the current status of the forum.

*plans to ask for temporary demotion to participate*

[/joking]

..Didn't see that coming. Alright, so..PC Presidency, bad idea..(rofl, jk Ry-1.)

PC Elections, huh?
The first one was fun-fun. I remember it making this place much more lively.

And who doth not love teh livelyhood? *shot*

But seriously yeah, I can't see how it wouldn't be fun. And again, I'd definitely help count votes. XDD

BB would be Beach colored. It doesn't exist, but when he wins President, it would suddenly appear in color pallets everywhere.

I don't know. I'm already satisfied with Poké Link 4 Pink default color scheme, since it makes normal members pink colored already~

Which means I don't even need to run for President to be pretty-colored. <3

It is all fun and games until a grouch comes around.

Of course, when I say "grouch", I mean "completely new and naive user who takes competitions far too seriously."

PC Presidential election? Sounds like fun if you ask me. XD

For colors, this one: color
