The Vegas Chapel... Sounds kind of.. Corny.

Plus.. People aren't married to their pairs on PC.
I was more thinking that pairs ups are usually a quick decision, like I have gotten requests to pair up even after I paired up with mew, it's mostly new members lol, sometimes older ones:)

My intention had nothing to do with marriages lol, if it had I also would have suggested the thread being called, "The Vegas Chapel/The Divorce Lawyers Office"

Most people don't understand the concept of having a pair. I've seen a lot of people who've wanted a pair just so they don't feel left out, or they're lonely, or they think it's cool. Though pairing could mean different things to other people, like the bond between friendship, or having an actual relationship in real life with your pair.

I find it stupid that people pair with others who they know nothing about, and that they just wanted a pair to be "cool".

That's why I'm paired :D

Me an my pair were good friends before we paired.

Hay I know nothing about Siggy and yet I still paired with her alt :[ ARE YOU SAYING WE DID THAT TO BE "COOL"?! ... which ttly isn't true, dars a bond... somewhere. :D

I think if my own pairing decisions were made quickly, I'd have had a lot more pairs than just the two I've had so far. :}

I never got why (or rather, how) people could just pair up with someone they don't know at all. That's probably why I refused pairs up until a few years after I joined (even though I'd gotten an offer or two before then), because I simply didn't know anybody well enough to even consider them as a pair.

(Then again, I probably also stopped refusing them at the, ah, persuasion of someone a few years back. Hmm.)

On the contrary, you practically talk to SAE everyday. It's different. Other people are like, "Hi, I'm looking for a pair, wanna pair?" That's just.. lol. And I mean like only a day after talking to them, or only a couple of hours. At least, it would be good to know some sort of personal information about your pair.

Hello pedos.

Don't you mean "paedos"? :O

I'm good friend with my pair:), but thats about it, we both agreed we wouldn't become like "Honeybunnysnuggum" lol

I knew my pair for like months lol, not years XD.

Mewthree is the only pair I have ever had on PC, tho on PE2K I did say yes too two people because I didn't know what it was lol, that was last year. I'll always remember the date I paired up with mew:), it was on Christmas day:). But today he's the only pair I have on forums :).
Before Mew I hadn't been paired up for some time, and that was to someone I thought was my friend, but then it turned out he was a complete arsehole to other people, so I broke it off, then he started being mean to me:(. Then he got jealous when I paired up with mew and started calling my names on MSN, I blocked him, that pissed him off some more, and now he's demanding I forgive him, I'm not gonna, I'm gonna destroy him, no one calls me a W**** and gets away with it.

PS. At first he didn't care that I broke the pairing off with him, but then I posted a picture on the forum, that now has been shut down, then he really started harassing me.

So people what negative forum experience have you guys had?

Edit: Theres more, the pair I had on PE2K February 2008, well I ended things really mad at him, for getting him self banned and calling me a stupid n00b (Really wouldn't affect me today), well he created a new clone account on PE2K like every other month and starting hassling me, and last January he made a new MSN account, I thought he was someone else, I accepted he asked for forgiveness, and since I hate stalkers I said no, and he said he loved me, which made me lulz, since I don't believe in love online.

Lol, I know I have had some experience, that's why I picked someone mature for my next pair, someone I know wont disappoint me, and even if he did I know he can handle it if we broke things up lol.

I have never had a pair, XD. I don't know if I ever will, either. ^_^

But that's terrible to hear, Angela. I hope he gets what's coming to him(including, but definitely not limited to, no more pairs for him =D).

Hmmm...negative experiences, eh? Well, besides those darn database errors from time to time, I've come across just three people who I have added to my Ignore List, for being insulting and the like. One of them has since been banned, so really it's only two now.

That's 2 people out of 106,622 members, or 1/53,511 of the community as a whole. Point being this is a great place to be at most of the time. ^_^

I always just looked at having a pair as a close [online] friend, but never anything more than that. I mean, I have nothing against "online relationships," but I just don't see how it could work out between two people who met each other online...at a pokemon forum XD;

I was paired with one girl here who took the concept of "pairing" to an undesired level for me (I'd rather not use names, but if you look at my past pairing history, I'm pretty sure you can guess who it was pretty easily XD;), but I made sure I cleared up the fact that I was already in a real-life relationship, and had no interest in her. That being said, she unpaired me within about 3 days. lol.

I don't think I'll ever get paired with anyone...I've just never felt the need to, and I don't see something like that going anywhere beyond being good friends, in which case you don't really need to get paired. At least that's what I think =/

The exception being Lumine and Lady Nicole of course. They were on opposite sides of the world, and then they met here on PC, and even won the WiFi Tournament together, XD. Now they're together, on the same side of the world. =P

Dude, I totally forgot about them XD

How are they both doing? I still see them on msn sometimes, but due to timezone differences, I never actually get to have a conversation with either of them x_x

I don't consider pairing as anything romantic. I originally paired up with someone because we at least had long conversations for a while and it got people off my back since I would get so many requests and they finally dropped off (mostly) once I paired with someone. HAHA now I regret having paired with him but oh well. XD I'm currently paired with Mork mainly because when it happened all our friends pretty much shipped us so we pretty much went, "Haha, I wonder what they'd think if we paired." / "Let's find out. 8D" / "Okay. 8D" And we've been paired ever since and now everyone ships me with someone else. :|

I've seen relationships that started here both work out and go down spectacularly in flames. 8( Meeting IRL had nothing to do with it because those relationships have both worked out and, well, not.

Lol, before I paired I got so many pair requests (it's so annoying,) I still do on Pe2K, I ignore them since I have a pair on here, I think I even showed you one that I got on here and I felt it offended me lol.

I didn't get to know either of them that much, but she has credit for the hearts in my sig;)

Pairing? I don't really see anything wrong with it, although it does tick me off when I see people pairing with people they don't know to look cool, or when someone is in a proper relationship with his/her pair and keeps giving out to people that friendly pairs shouldn't exist. I've seen both things a lot and it's pretty irritating.

I've known a few people who've found their current love due to pairing with people online and I'm happy for them, but those types of relationships are hard to come by and most end up destroyed. Like mine. A pair made up by two friends, however, is normally pretty cool because in most cases, no horrible arguments can erupt from them.

But yeah, pairing's cool whichever way you look at it, but that's not to say it isn't overhyped and overrated.

Lumine and Lady Nicole would be a special case...That's still such a great story though

"Hey, how did you meet your girlfriend?"

"On a....pokemon....forum..."

"No seriously...."

I bet he's had that conversation once before XD

I'd say that a pokemon forum isn't the best place to find a significant other...but ah ha, I found my own boyfriend through a pokemon roleplaying group we were both part of, years ago, so I'd feel like a hypocrite. :X It all depends on the people involved, I guess.

Of all the online relationships I've seen among friends of mine (nearly all of them having found each other at some pokemon-related place), I've seen more of them fail than succeed...but eh. I dunno.
