Ooooo boy, you've just scratched the surface (even if you are purposely generalizing). Even in college, they'll reteach you grammar, and you'd be surprised on how many people forget and have to relearn a lot of it (among other things).
That I know of, which is why I buy English books that specifically help with grammar and all that jazz. *Owns this book.* Because when teachers don't help laying down the foundation again (because it must be done, in my opinion), I go out and get it myself. :D

I still find myself questioning my punctuation from time-to-time. I often wonder if a hyphen or a comma really needs to be there, or I'm just sticking it in because it looks all purty...

Hope you're right, Feign. I would love to go back over grammar in college. XD;

That's the way. ;) I mean this stuff shouldn't be taught just once in elementary school, but more often. Not to mention that teachers suck at giving good instruction on a well written essay. It get's worse in post secondary when each new professor encountered wants a new or different writing style.

Correction. MOST teachers. I actually had one that helped me a lot with my essays. The rest were awful though, they helped little to none in stuff like that.

Yeah, whenever I notice my teachers aren't up to my standards, I take teaching into my own hands. Throughout school, many people will encounter wonderful teachers and others that make you question whether they even earned it. When it happens, I make sure I do proper backup and get more research into things I should be learning and even relearning.

I learned this the hand way through band class, actually. My teacher every year (from beginner to intermediate to advanced) taught us much less and expected us to be at perfect standard every time, without touching base again on some fundamentals. With such a large percussion group, I was losing ground, not gaining. Eventually I had to drop band when I started high school, because I knew I wasn't going to be the same way and probably wouldn't enjoy it.

I've already taken my English classes for highschool - During my junior year I took English 1301, and during the summer I took English 1302 which allowed me to use them to count for both college and highschool credit :cool:

I'm taking two math classes next year, though [College Algebra/Trig & PreCalculus] 8D

Am I the only one who prefers Math to Science? Then again, I probably would like Science more if the teacher wasn't a creeper. >>;

I'm more of a science guy myself, but math is much more important in everyday life.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel strange whenever I post in this thread.

But you got luck on your side, what's there to feel strange about? D:

Also, I prefer science as well. Marine biology for the win! /o/

You are full of win just for that comment.
I like biology overall, but marine species are very unique. I was always interested in the study of life.

The physical sciences do intrigue me (in particular toxicology), but I must say I prefer the social sciences. They're a bit more wishy-washy, but to see the way that humans interact and the consequences of these actions fascinate me. :3

Same here. :D I've also always found it fascinating.

Indeed. :3 There's certainly a thrill in watching theory unfold into practice so often, every day on the news, with this recession, with the way two people talk to each other, et cetera. ^^

I was never a fan of something as subjective as social science. From what it sounds like, it involves human interaction(duh), which always reminds me of neuroscience.

You just passed the cool test.

Anyways, I need to go to sleep soon(1:30 AM), since I have school in 2 days and I have to change my sleeping schedule 7 hours(from sleeping at 6 AM to waking up at 6 AM). Hopefully there aren't any of those irritating jocks at my school like they have in the movies.

I remember when I first entered high school; I thought it would be exactly like all the movies. Four years later, I have come to realize the movies aren't accurate sources of information xD; Although my high school isn't as lively as the ones depicted in the films, it's still pretty enjoyable.

Are you starting a new school or something?

And yeah, stereotypes exist everywhere. :( Try not to buy too much into what you see in the movies and you'll be fine.
Yep, freshman year at my first non public school.
I'll try to not to use movies as a as reliable sources, but sometimes stuff are so stupid, it can't be just made up.

Hopefully my school is like that. It pains me to say this, but not all stereotypes are completely false. There will always be a guy who is famous because he is the star quarterback, yet have no common knowledge whatsoever, and there will always be the preppy, pretty, cheerleader who is as shallow as a puddle.

Oh god I hope that made sense. I'm basically OCD about every minor detail in my 2 cents.
