i really like The Herd, man aussies can make a good political rap group

My school has only one extra-curricular period a day, so I will have to.

Most of my music is from the early-mid naughties, because that's when my taste developed. Prior to that i'd listen to pretty much anything.

I also hate pretty much anything mainstream.

I don't listen to much Western produced music in the first place. Ironically, I listen to what could be considered "mainstream" in the Japanese doujin/indie music scene. IOSYS, ALiCE'S EMOTiON, Alstroemeria Records, SOUND HOLIC, and others. I'm such a sheep. :V

Starting to move away from mainstream artists and delve into the world of underground indie rock and roll music groups. It's a pretty weird transition but I'm feeling experimental these days.

What've you been listening to? Maybe some of us can give you some recommendations?

Currently listening to The Great Northern. Pretty good band with a good catalog of songs. Judging by everyone I've mentioned them to, they're not as well known as they should be.

I've only heard a couple songs by them actually, I think I remember hear Houses a little while ago.

You should listen to Arcade Fire if you haven't. They're not super underground obviously, they're pretty well known, so you might've already gave them a listen.

The Suburbs dropped this year, and its a great album. No to mention Neon Bible and The Funeral are amazing as well.

Haha, wow, I was just listening to Houses when I typed the post prior to this.

And yeah, The Arcade Fire are probably up there in my favourite three artists ever (beaten by The Beautiful South and The Beatles). I've listened to The Suburbs (see: location) and really like the tone they've got going with it. It's sorta bittersweet as opposed to overly dark and mind-numbing, which can pretty much define Neon Bible as a whole. Some great songs from their latest album, but I don't know if they've met the quality they had with Funeral. There were some songs on that album - Crown of Love, Tunnels, Wake Up - that are god tier. I don't know if my Canadian pals will ever be able to live up to them again.

Oh man, thats exactly why I love The Suburbs. So many considered a step down compared to their other work, but the positive feel was just so nice throughout the album. Feels good man.

Funeral is still better, It was epic the first time I heard it. Made me an instant Arcade Fire fan back when I wasn't even really that much into rock music.

Yeah, Funeral's up there with The Script's debut album as just... mind blowing. They've got some really good songs on The Suburbs though - Half Light II (No Celebration), The Suburbs and Suburban War all have really good sounds coming from them, as well as meaningful lyrics.

Annnnnd I just realised The Script's second album was released yesterday. Off to Demonoid I go!

Demonoid member here too, haha.

I haven't really listened to The Scripts actually, maybe I'll check them out later today.

Lolk. Try not to focus on their mainstream singles and go for their lesser known songs... They've only got twelve released but still, it gets a bit redundant when you get addicted to The Man Who Can't Be Moved or Breakeven.

AN ARCADE FIRE CONVERSATION? I'M IN.

The Suburbs is awesome, but I am in agreement with whoever said Funeral is better.
