Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan - you speak French there, and people will beat you. Seriously o0 They HATE French people.

British Columbia is nice, but they make the least efforts French-wise. My fiance went to British Columbia once and they all admired him for the French and his awesome, naturally-tanned skin colour. There were some haters, but he said: "The people who speak French in British Columbia... are the Chinese immigrants."

Which was obvious at the Olympics as well; the narrator guy was Chinese rofl it was so obvious.

[Edit]

Quebec wants to separate to:

- Preserve their language, which the rest of Canada is suffocating
- Preserve certain laws that people of Quebec find correct, such as having to go to French schools if you live there, and banning certain television ads aimed at children

There are a lot of views that Quebecois share in self-defense of their culture, but Canada rejects because it favours "the anglophone part of Canada", even though Quebec is a French province. It's ridiculous; there may be limits on some things, but if you live in Quebec, you should be trying to learn French, instead of saying:

a) "Speak English idiot"

or

b) "Stupid Quebecois; you guys never speak English. Arrogant pieces of [blarp]"

I laughed at the irony of that quote. :] Tell your fiance I love him.

No, the reason I don't like Texas is because the majority is socially backwards. Economically, I love them.

And it is true when you say Texas is socially backwards, for the majority. Some aren't. Most are.

:[ Even people who live in Texas agree. Of course, those are the people who don't think like people did in the 1800's.
Very conservative, I agree, though pretty much 40% of the Congressional districts are represented by Democrats...though they're minority dominated districts, yes, but the votes cast by these representatives often lie on the left-side of the American spectrum. The conservatism is the result of most people being generally content with what their ancestors passed on to them. :/

@Yusshin: A fiance at this age? I must congratulate you. ^^

Yup, two peas in a pod we be. We've been together for three years, dated for two, lived together for one. We've only had slight misunderstandings and the highest respect and loyalty for each other. He's perfect o0 Imagine a funny, charming, dashingly sexy, tall-dark-&-handsome man who disapproves of showing his body, talking to other women, viewing pornography, and going to bars / clubs / see the strippers. Not to mention the excessively cute little accent he has when he speaks English <3

That's mah man lol :P

There are at least 2 or 3 French Communities in Alberta. While I don't live in them, my mom is part French, and no one disrespects her. In fact my first name is French, and no one obstenitnly makes fun of me or my French name.

XD :P

*dispells misconception*

It's sort of the accepted risk when you have two clashing cultures forming one country. The larger part would have more representation in government and cultural dissonance would arise. No provincial government favours one culture over the other, really, it's just that one culture is imminently larger than the other. I personally think that any part of the world should have the right to preserve their culture and be politically stable.

It must flatter him so that you would share your admiration of him to the world on the internet! :'D

My name means "Peace" in Greek :)

Irène Carol-Anne

^ Peace, Song, and Gracious

[Edit]

He gets shy lol :P I tell him I tell EVERYBODY though because I'm so proud of him <3
Mine means Crown. :o

I see nationalism prevailing in French-Canada and Quebec becoming a seperate country.

It's not like Texas. Quebec actually has resources to support itself as a country. Texas, when they were a separate country they failed. Massively. Yet for some reason the idea of secession from the US is still there. :/

I support an independent Quebec if the Canadian government wont allow them preservation of their culture.

Quebec produces the most electricity - in the world o_o I think we'd do fine, since electricity in itself is a huge factor of a country.

^ they be trollin' :|
Well, it doesn't matter how much it produces if it doesn't have enough income to keep doing it when it does break from Canada.

However, I do believe Quebec has necessary sources for the maintaining of an independent country.

I find it unfortunate that most of my fellow Asians don't keep the names of their heritage when they acquire citizenship in a foreign country. I'm perfectly happy with my name...though I have no idea what it means, and the internet doesn't help much with Vietnamese names. ;^;
Now that's just taking it too far.

o_o My fiance said the same thing LOL He hates when people, specifically Asians, change their name from their heritage-like one to "Erik" or "Jamie" or "Helen". He'd never do that lol he finds it disrespectful to the roots of which they came.

And yeah, see what I mean by them hating on Quebec :| I wanna smack'em.

The Asians in my math class last semester: Brian, David, Cody, Sydney, Anna, and....me, Thuy (as far as I know, all of them had a choice in the decisions of their names). Maybe I'm just conservative or socially-backwards, but I find that wrong to abandon your own heritage through identity. :/

You know what? Same here. :[

It is wrong. Changing your name doesn't change the fact you come from a certain country or a certain ethnicity. It's like denouncing your heritage lol

[Edit]

You going to Montreal, Feign? The Quebecois in Quebec City are mostly farmers and are really unpleasant. You'll wanna go to Montreal :P

Eh. People in Quebec should quit being so darn paranoid. Their culture won't be diluted, and they can pass laws that apply only in the province. If Canada just lets Quebec have the laws they insist on, it won't harm a fly. :3 (it's not like they're going to be better off as an independent country anyway)

Pachy, we are being diluted. French as a first language in Quebec is beginning to drop because of the anglophone influence. They're jeopardizing the culture there and it's only natural we become angry lol When we go to Alberta and demand service in French, we don't get it, because it's not an official language of Alberta; yet, English isn't an official language of Quebec, and if we deny service to anglophones, we get called names and have temporary lawsuits for "discrimination".

It's ridiculous o0 We just want people to speak French when they come from outside of Quebec INTO Quebec. It's just common courteousy and respect to do that. Even if it's mediocre, we like that you guys try. It's the fact you guys don't even try lol

[Edit]

Canada won't allow those laws we insist on, because it's "discriminatory towards the anglophones of Quebec".

Anglophones anglophones anglophones.

I'm an anglophone LOL from Ontario, and it's starting to tick me off the mentality of anglophone Canadians. So narrow-minded, unfortunately. They feel that since English is widely spoken, screw everyone else.

Why is English widely spoken? Because the English enslaved everyone and forced their language onto them. That's why. It's not spoken because it's the BEST language; it's spoken because they were forced to speak it lol!
