Not necessarily. Pokemon Red could arguably be more complicated since it had its own EVs. Every pokemon gave you EVs in every stat, although they would clearly be imbalanced. I think you could max out all stats on Alakazam because of it. And psychics dominated the whole metagame back in generation 1 :</devils advocate

I love how D/P/Pt changed the whole metagame. Sand veil gave the pokemon 1.5x special defense in sandstorm, pursuit became popular(as well as entry hazards), and the physical/special split changed entire pokemon. Hidden power is now special, which means pokemon like Sandslash are left out because of their nonexistent special attack stat.

I have to admit, I disliked how you could beat the entire game in RBY with an Alakazam, Starmie or even Hypno. GSC re-addressed the whole Psychic thing by introducing Dark and adding a couple of other features to downgrade it a tad (Such as converting Bite to a Dark-type move).

I did like the EV thing though. I would (And still do) spend hours/days on Gold EV training and trying to max out a Pokémon's stats.

People have different opinions on each of the generations and like/dislike them for different reasons. Like I said earlier, each to their own ^^

Earthquakes normally don't freak me out because I'm used to em but this one started out all soft and then got all violent and I dove under our kitchen table.

Everyone's thinking that the San Andreas fault is getting ready to have the big one with all the 8.0 earthquakes popping up x_x;
That's what people get for not making earthquake resistant houses. It's stupider than continually relying on nonrenewable resources *cough*carsthatrunongas*cough*

You could also beat the game with just your starter, but that's how it was until gen 4 personally.
They also added steel, which is basically the new psychic :<

Yeah but Steel has common weaknesses, something Psychic didn't have. There were only 3 Ghost-types in the first gen and they were all half-Poison (As were most Bug-types), added to the fact that there were very few decent damaging Ghost and Bug moves.

I cleared my Platinum with a Medicham... Psychics are not totally awful...
-Fake Out, Psycho Cut, Fire Punch, Brick Break. Beat most every Pokemon sent my way within two hits. If not, I just sent out my Raichu.

I think the only ghost type move that wasn't set damage was lick in generation one D:
Fighting is the worst type for moves though.

That's what I mean. Dragon was a missed opportunity as well as the only Dragon-type move in Gen I was the woefully weak set-damage Dragon Rage. It wouldn't have been as bad had the damage been 1.5x when used by Dragon types but bleh. Outrage is awesome ^^

Indeed, but you can stick Fire Blast on pretty much any Pokémon and it'll put a dent in a Steel-type (No pun intended), and Ground isn't exactly uncommon either.

Agreed.
Flinch or confusion as the only side effects.

Detect, Seismic Toss, Mach Punch, Aura Sphere, Vacuum Wave, Low Kick, Cross Chop, Close Combat, Brick Break.

^ only good moves.

Wake-Up Slap is still a fun move.

You are definitely over-grinding that team...
But i don't want to pass up this wicked grind opportunity. Where your in iron cave and that guy follows you around. Wild pokemon are 2 on 2 battles which end in 2 turns, and earn you 1200 exp per battle. Plus the guy that follows you heals your pokemon giving you unlimited PP and you don't have to use potions.

So ace....

Frankly, I got sick of running into Pokemon in that place pretty quickly.

Aye, but my gardevoir has pshycic which one hits golbats and steelix. and maical leaf.

My rampardos has surf and zen headbutt
My joy has blizzard (The pp never runs out because of the partner.)
And roselia has petal dance and mega drain.

So wild pokemon all get 1 shot and i never run out of pp, best time to level.

But enough about grinding.

^That bleach amv is the best one i've seen^

I hate running into wild pokemon all the time. It gets my teams HP down fast.
