My vacations have always sucked... Honestly, the car trip down/back is usually the best part because I see QUALITY INNS along the way :p

If I'm lucky and the family is tired, sometimes we even stay at one :3

I am fairly certain I've asked you this before (and you're probably sick of explaining anyway) but what's with the Quality Inn obsession? XD

I've always had a fascination with staying at hotels. At about the time my obsession started, the family had actually stayed at a sister chain, Comfort Inn, and I had a chance to pick up a copy of the chain's directory of locations. I immediately fell in love with Quality's logo at the time, which was a gold "sphere" whit the words "Quality Inn" beneath it in gold, all set on a black background. I thought it was a very classy-looking logo and so an obsession began. The logo's changed since then but I still think it's quite stylish.

And there's the fact that of all the Quality Inns I've stayed at, only one's been bad and some of them have been extremely nice.

I've only been to Florida twice (not counting a trip to Disney World when I wasn't even 2 yet - I don't remember that!), both times to Tampa with my whole family, and both times my dad was on a business trip. I stayed at a beachside hotel the first time around in 1998, and I remember going to Busch Gardens there before it had any amusement park rides (I remember they were building some while we were there visiting back in 1998). The second time around, we stayed at a golf resort in one of the suburbs, and Dick Cheney was speaking in one of the halls there on one of the days during our stay, as it was that year's campaign season (October 2004). We did a day-trip to Kissimmee to see my great-grandmother during that second stay, though. She's one of those "snowbirds" who live in Minnesota in the summer and move to Florida/Arizona at the first sign of cold.

Most of my other trips are to visit family, though, or meet with relatives at our lakehome cabin. I don't count Western Wisconsin as a vacation since I go there so often to see family.

And the only bad hotel experience I've had was when we found a used condom between one of the beds and the nightstand at a hotel in the Lake of the Ozarks area in Missouri. Ew. I can't remember the chain's name, though. D;

That is... strange. Though maybe you'll be happy to know that I don't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that wasn't a Quality Inn? XD

We have Quality Inn's over here. Except they're not called "Quality Inn" but "Premier Inn". Also, there's nothing "premier" about the services or food (no matter what Lenny Henry says in the adverts). :/

They're pretty good hotels. I've stayed in good ones (one in the US was great) and decent ones (the one I'm at every year for Anime North) and... idk, they're good quality for their price. (Seriously, a room for 4-5 people was like $300 for two nights in early-summer. Amazing. n_n)

I don't really remember ever staying in a bad hotel though. :/ Plenty of bad motels, sure, but the hotels I've stayed at are usually pretty nice.

Our family actually stays at those places that are halfway between hotel and motel- they don't offer the restaurants and room service and all that, but most of them have been clean and inexpensive enough so we can actually afford them, lol

I prefer the type where you enter your room from inside the building as opposed to those where you enter your room directly from the parking lot.

And from what I hear, most of the major chains really vary in how clean they are. For all my obsession with Quality Inn there was that horrendous one in Rock Hill, South Carolina...
The comforter was falling apart, the ice/vending machine area was filthy, the tub was filthy, the tub didn't drain, you could see where they had done a bad job of patching up the wall... If it's any indication, I couldn't pronounce the name of the "Manager on Duty" listed at the front desk. And if it's another indication, the lobby phone of this QUALITY INN had the old-style HOWARD JOHNSON logo on it xD

It's still listed as a Quality, for reasons that are completely beyond me... doesn't live up to the standards of any other Quality Inn I've ever been to.

Ever since I watched the movie Vacancy, I avoid staying in a motel xD
Why? Whats it about? :O

I've stayed at a lot of hotels and motels. Once when I went to India to visit my relatives, we went to a motel and there was a monkey on my bed. Then I yelled in astonishment and ran out the door. The owner chased it out.

You people are talking about hotels, and just yesterday I saw a report on the filthiest hotels in america. Uncanny.

Well, then. I think I would wanna get a security system installed if I were to move to India, then. I ain't gettin' robbed by no stinkin' monkeys and their monkey business. (b'-')b

Haha. Thats why some people are called the "Monkey Force", they go around town with long sticks and when someone says they got their belonging taken by a monkey they find it and hit it until it drops the item.

They don't hit them hard, they just tap them to scare them, although some people have gotten attacked by doing that. I saw a full grown man run away and yell like a little girl when 5 were chasing him. Luckily I only got my Cheetos taken away lol.
