Can't recommend a Buick for that... GM stopped making minivans several years ago and their Venture-based ones weren't all that good.

Eh.... Go for a Honda Odyssey or one of the Chrysler/Dodge minivans.
 
Even liability's an expensive thing, and I'm paying on average about $40 a month with TWO discounts on just liability. XD;

I won't be getting something truly new. Just maybe something newer with less mileage on it. I'm looking at something in the range of $5000.

I've heard trucks as recommended for inexperienced drivers because of their size. I think anything elevated can help an inexperienced driver become more perceptive of their surroundings while they're driving.

That may be true... I took my driver's test in a Jeep Grand Cherokee and passed with flying colors... then not six months later we sold it xD

But, aren't trucks a lot more expensive and run on less miles per gallon? :/

For the most part they are, but they're easier to see out of in traffic. Especially when half the people on the road also have big trucks :/

I guess this depends on what kind of college you'd like to go to - private vs public, small vs large, but why do you want to take a car to college?

I'm going to be going to college all the way on the other side of the country, so I need a car so i can drive around. Its Penn State. xD

Probably one of the smaller Hondas or Hyundais. I'm reluctant to recommend a Toyota now because of all the safety recall drama they've been having.

EDIT; You can get a Hyundai Tuscon or Honda CR-V and it'll be easy to see out of, like a truck, but they're small SUV's and get pretty good mileage.

Are you going to college this coming year, or next year? I'm going to school in Pennsylvania, too! But my house is just across the river in New Jersey, so... I don't mind waiting on someone to come pick me up whenever I want to go back home. Not that I'd want to go back home much.

I'm a Sophomore right now, and I'm going to get my license this year. I live in the Midwest so its a pretty far drive.

Oh, damn.

I thought you were going to start school this fall and got excited because I Google mapped my school against Penn State and it's apparently only about a 30 minute drive. But isn't it a little random to have chosen Penn State when a) you live in the Midwest, and b) you're a sophomore in high school? Just wondering is all...
 
I go to school in a fairly large city (Charlotte, NC) so my parents take me down and pick me up, and I use public transportation to get around. I don't have a car on campus and from what I heard most college's campus parking enforcers are ruthless when it comes to handing out tickets:/

Well, I had it mapped out since last year.
My uncle lives there so I can get a discount if I put his name as my residency, it has some good classes that interest me and will help me with my major. XD

LOL, my family's from New York State but I've been attending college in North and South Carolina... my reason is because New York winters are brutal.
 
Oh and 1 of my cousins went there. All of my cousins went to a top ten college XD
2 even got into Harvard o.o

Well North Carolina gets hurricanes every couple of years..so..there. :P
