Ouch D:
That was a little while back in thread, don't you think?

I should do some exercise today before work, though...
I blame the system that redirects me to other pages, except the latest one. o3o;

The minivan my parents had may or may not have saved my mom's life in her accident, and mine and my brother's lives in our accident. >__> At the very least, the Honda Odyssey seems to be very well built. xD

Minivans are tough because of they way they're built (larger, taller, heavy wagon-style vehicles). They just don't have much power in their engines for a vehicle of that size and the bottom of the vehicle is pretty low to the ground (and most are only two wheel drive, making for some fun fishtailing on slushy/snowy roads in the winter). Most have enough spare power to be able to tow something behind them, though.

Yeah it sure isn't worth the price of the engine. Glad I got a back up truck, only thing is Diesel is so expensive these days.

Exercise is great, but when it gets cold and your house is several miles from work and school its kind of a pain to ride a bike.

Could be worse, you could be in my situation with $2800 for a reconstructed engine.

Does that include the transmission? Or everything but the transmission?

Replaced the transmission for that minivan I mentioned back in February out of my own pocket. The whole deal cost about $2900 in total for a lot of other work we had them do since we had already sunk money into replacing the battery just before that winter (for safety reasons, of course). Probably got another 5 or 6 years out of that engine by doing that. Cheaper than buying something that would actually outlive the repair work, since we know the vehicle history and we wouldn't be able to tell if a car was near the end of its engine's lifespan if we were to buy something in that price range.

My mom's car is worth like 2k, lol. Yay for poor people cars.

Oh well. I was just trying to promote the...uhh, health of the Earth? xD
Does working my figures typing on the key board count? I feel like I do more exercise working by picking up boxes off the truck then I actually do in my free time. The most I do is walk when it's actually bearable outside.

From what they have on it only says engine only. Yeah winter is pretty rough on batteries for sure. I'd go with whatever gives me more of a guarantee for the long run. Although if you are in the situation where you need something here and now I suppose you gotta do what you gotta due. Funny thing with my car is we got a new battery after my battery from 05 died in June/July.

Mom just had to get new tires, bearings, and ball joints on her car...cost over $2,000. I'm lucky, the highest bill I've ever had on a car (other than tires and brakes) was like $100. My cars have been really reliable, though my old car that I totaled in March was probably going to need some work soon with timing belt and stuff.

Was the one with tires and brakes cause someone else chipped in? Cause for me that would probably total $400+ for just a new set not even including the brakes.

I meant not counting tires and brakes. Obviously they're expensive...although when I had brakes put on we had a family friend do it so it cost a lot less than going to the mechanic's shop. But yeah, tires are awful, and my car now has 16" tires (the old one had 15") so they're going to be more expensive.

I was more of a horrible parker and still am, then a leadfoot. Although I have intentionally went over the speed limit on several occasions(luckily no cops where around)

If I had siblings and they wanted to learn, I'd definitely charge them, cause I figure they would probably stress me out to no end having me think that it would get crashed. I don't know how those Drivers ED people do it on a daily basis riding with a bunch of noobs, outside of having the brake on the passengers side of course.

I have had ridiculous luck not getting pulled over for speeding at times. My brother on the other hand, who isn't as attentive as I am in general, not so much (he didn't see the speed limit change and he hasn't figured out where the cops like to sit for their speed traps).

The car we share is actually one my parents bought 13/14 years ago as a primary family vehicle (new at that!). The primary driver of it is the one who gets the fun of paying for any repairs needed, though.

This is the damage my brother did to it last winter, and it's still missing that part. That rear door is unrelated to his damage and was caused by me before I got my license.
