    [PokeCommunity.com] The Distortion World

The Distortion World is a new location to explore in Pokemon Platinum, and a major part of the story in it. It's where the last part of the main Galactic story plays out. Here, the laws of space and time are nonexistent, and platforms float in mid air. There's no gravity to hold you feet flat on the floor, as you can jump from platform to platform. Cynthia and the lake guardians appear there too, having followed you to try and help you defeat Cyrus. But, another threat is among you...a shadowy creature that rules this other, mysterious realm. What is this thing? Why, it's the Renegade Pokemon, Giratina! As you defeat Cyrus, this Ghost/Dragon type Pokemon descends upon you, and stands its ground against you in a battle. Other than Giratina, it's a rather desolate place, but nonetheless, interesting.

This location is possibly my personal favourite in all the Pokemon games. I love just how...well, un-Pokemon it is. d: The dark and gloomy tone to it isn't something you usually see in these games, which is why it's so up there in the ranks for me.
Anyway, what were your personal thoughts on the Distortion World? How did you take traversing it? Did you like it, or did you find it a needless expansion? Feel free to discuss that, and anything else related to this strange new location!

I thought the Distortion World was really fun, and was a great way to add in Giratina without just replacing the legendary at the top of Mt Coronet. I also really liked how it wasn't just a walk-in walk-out area, there were several puzzles that weren't super easy to do. :)

The only parts I disliked about it was the fact that it required several HMs, which I don't think I had so I had to backtrack (I don't think I had a Pokemon with Rock Climb). Another shame was that the first time I also got smashed by Cyrus, so I had to do everything all over again. One of my favorite aspects of many other adventure games with puzzles like Zelda is that once you complete a puzzle there's always a shortcut that unlocks at the end, so you could backtrack with ease. If the DW had some sort of feature like that it would be so much better, but they're just minor nitpicks in comparison because I thought it was a great addition!

I myself liked the idea of going through a flipped universe. It was a really cool place to venture through for me, even if I know a lot of people didn't like it. However I remember one time where I accidentally pushed a boulder into the wrong hole and it got lost so I had to do part of it over again. x_x

I actually loved this place, and really liked how it made yourself… well, flip, haha. Plus, it really suited Giratina; whenever you look at a location like this, you immediately start thinking of those kind of Pokémon. Though, it would have been pretty awesome if we had post-game events here, but unfortunately, there weren't any. :(

Although it was short, it was a huge amount of effort on Gamefreak's part. It also is quite memorable and enjoyable. Not something easily achieved in pokemon.

I LOVE this place. It's my favorite, too!

Not only is it a beautiful, twisted place, the music is AMAZING. I love the "Torn World" theme <3 I used to find myself venturing to the depths of the Turnback Cave just so I could hear the splendorous tune that it the Distortion World's music.

I love the lack of gravity of this place. If it was just a straight road like many other places in Pokemon, it wouldn't be quite as great. Being able to walk sideways and swim up a waterfall makes things so much interesting. Although it's rather plain, the perpetual spiral of the clouds below you makes the Distortion World seem much more ethereal. Giratina flying around is an added bonus. This place is really quite special. Rather than moving forward, you progress downward, all the while walking sideways and jumping from platform to platform as they appear and disappear before your eyes.... Running through forests of strange plants that seem to grow from nowhere, and shrink back into the ground just as quickly....

I wish I could live here. Or at least have a secret bases here!

I loved the Distortion World. It was a unique place, and the way it changed dimensions enhanced the experience. The terrain was well designed as well; just all-around a great area in Platinum. There wasn't much to do here, unfortunately. They should have found something else to do with this area!

My new favorite place! Distortion World is absolutely amazing. There are several things I loved about it

    1. The place itself. Something that completely stands out from any other Pokemon game I've played.

    2. Music was amazing. So chill, but brings a bit of tension just as well.

    3. Cynthia and Cyrus. I loved how you could see them, it really felt like all three of us are just seperatedly looking for our own ways to get to Giratina.

    4. Lake trio, I loved how theye were flying around, showing us what to do.

    5. Dat waterfall tho! And those disappearing tree things and rock, they just had me blown away.

I will go back to this place after I beat Elite four just cos I love it, and there are no POkemon which made it even batter. If there was one place I found in Pokemon games (aside from Almia and Hoenn), it would be distortion world. Chill, relaxing, zen, bit tense, mysterious, quiet...perfect. :D

Easily the best representation of a Legendary Pokemon's home location. Mewtwo is found at the bottom of a generic cave with green rocks, Kyogre/Groudon are found in caves, Articuno and Moltres are in a cave whereas Zapdos is outside or inside a power plant.

Giratina is found in the world opposite of ours with incredibly messed up physics. It's a shame that they never work on the background scenary quite as much as they do with Giratina.

The distortion world took me 2 hours to complete and battle Cyrus. It was very frustrating, but it could of been worse with Pokemon encounters!!!

Everyone on this thread seems to love the Distortion World. I think it could have been shorter. I like games with puzzles like this, like the Legend of Zelda, but, to be honest, I wanted more Pokemon-related activities in my Pokemon game.

Distortion World is one of my fave location in Platinum, I like surfing on the upside-down waterfall, and the trees distortion in that place really brings the feeling of Giratina itself. It's a shame that I can't experience it fully after visiting it once in-story, though.

Cant you go back through the portal in the cave Giratina is supposed to be at?

I can go back to Distortion World, but the size of the Distortion World is reduced, not as complete as the first time I enter it. I know it because I'm unable to experience the waterfall in there anymore on my second time there.
