I think Kingdra is an interesting specimin indeed

I'd say a combination, it's obviously a sea horse and it has a few Dragon traits.....sorta......actually it's a sea horse, not a dragon, the only thing Draconic could be it's eyes, i LOVE this pokemon, one of my complete FAVS! and i love the fact that it's dragon typed too but...i'm afraid it's a seahorse....

? It's a seahorse specie called Sea dragon. weird huh?
Why it's called this way, i do not know, but I'd say Kingdrais based of it.
Wether how a real sea dragon would look like i can't say for certain. i do have some speculations, but, no I don't think kingdra looks like something a sea dragon would look like...

I guess his eyes do kind of look like dragons' eyes. Maybe the horns too... But that's it, no other references to any kind of Dragon. Yet, for some reason, I feel like this is a Dragon... Kinda weird, I can't put my finger on it... :/

It's not showing up, even when I try to quote you... But I just googled it. I'm pretty sure I've seen that thing before. I kind of like the way they made Kingdra out of that thing. Not sure why though :/

Hmmm, yes that could change my mind, but it dosen't look too much like a dragon.

Hm, that picture may have shown up somewhere before, i find it familiar too.....hmm....probably a past discussion.
 
Maybe I can't see it because I live in Holland or something? A link did show up when I got the e-mail notification when draggy posted here, but when I clicked it the page wouldn't load.

Maybe Kingdra is a unique kind of Dragon, just like Reshiram is to me. I can't quite place my finger on how Reshiram is a Dragon either, but I just feel like he is, just like with Kingdra...

Kingdra, King of seahorses or dragons?
The classic argument, this time we focus around Kingdra, give your opinions, thoughts, is this ellegant sea creature dubbed Dragon? or is it just a very powerfull seahorse? or both?

I love this topic. I love Kingdra. The picture that Dragonite posted could be the animal Kingdra was based of off. Since it has similarites to Kingdra. Anyways I believe Kingdra is a mix of both Dragons and Sea Horses. One its ear like things on the back of its head reminds me of dragons. Look at its head, it looks like a minature dragon's head. Though its body looks like the body of a sea horse.

Xil: Thank you. She's doing ok. Though I only get to see her twice a month.
 
This picture looks a bit more like Kingdra, I think. I'd say there's a possibility it's based off this :)

Possibly, but there are also many unsimilarities, such as the fact that Kingdra is not a seaweed....thingy....
But, yes that is a possibility as Pokemon has many unexplained phenomenons....yes.
P.S. Acting all sciency i know XD

This could be th animal Kingdra was base off of. This is more sea horse-y then the last picture. However it stil has dragon aspects to it. You can see things coming out of its back, these could have been what the creators based Kingdra's wings off. If you look at the animal's nose it has the same nose as Kingdra, its just a lot thinner. Also Kingdra's nose has always reminded me of a sea horse's nose, not a dragn's.
 
Hm, you strike a very good point angel, i, also, have always reffered to it's nose as seahorsey, and yes, you're totally right, but! regardless of the fct that it's a sea dragon by NAME only, therefore, i doubt it's existance as a dragon, as much as i hate to say it....it is not a dragon.
 
Well we also have to put its name into this too. Kingdra. It means the King of Dragons.
 
True, Kingdra, Kingdragon, however, the name has nothing to do with it, that's just nintendo acting all googley again.
 
I don't think so. They wouldn't call something the King of Dragons without it being a dragon. Like they wouldn't name a cat the King of Bugs. It doesn't happen. There has to be a reason that they named Kingdra the King of Dragons.
 
I doubt your theory, if nintendo made it a dragon they would call it that but since it's not really a dragon to us, it's name is part of the factor that nintendo mistakenly gave Kingdra, it's only part of the dispute that i'm tryng to get rid of, sorta, i haven't fully decided on my opinions yet, but as of now i vote kingdra out....
 
That's where we disagree. I believe that Kingdra is a mix between Sea Horse and Dragon. It has similarities to both. And I don't believe that Nintendo would do something like misname a Pokemon.
