(There is NO way Apolla is missing this.)
Apolla woke with a start, hearing scuffled noises outside her window. She sat bolt upright, causing little spots of light to appear in front of her eyes. Her head felt like it was about to split in two.
Maybe I'll wait here for a while.
She moved to lay back down, when she heard Silver's far away yet unmistakeable voice scream "Erasers! RUN!"
Apolla stood up immediately, all traces of her headache gone.
I knew it. And right after I'd told Flurry she was safe.
Without any hesitation, Apolla leapt through her open window, her wings unfolding and snapping open. Ouch. Remember, no quick unfurling!
She circled the house, no Silver in sight. The sound of the chopper roared in her ears, and her stomach made a sickening jolt. Silver.
Lysander was already there, helplessly flapping around the helicopter. Apolla panicked. She flew towards the chopper, her body flat and bullet-like. When she got to there, she didn't know what to do; she followed the copter, yelling for Lysander to help the others, but soon the helicopter was too far away, and Apolla was still light-headed. There was nothing she could do for Silver right now.
She turned to make back for the house. The others needed her, so she swallowed her emotions and got ready for a fight.
"EVERYONE. DELTA IS OUT OF BOUNDS. DELTA IS OUT OF BOUNDS."
They'd come up with code names for things when they were training, and right now Apolla wanted everyone as far from the house as possible. Erasers aren't as nimble as the flock, so the forest was their best bet.
An Eraser was gaining on her, so Apolla kicked him under the chin, then in the stomach for good measure. Two more appeared, one grabbing her from behind. She stuck out her elbow, feeling his nose break, before charging at the one in front, both arms forward. They fell off the cliff face at the end of the forest, and Apolla's wings snapped out. To her surprise, so did the Eraser's.
Wings? That's new.
The new Eraser was clumsy, his wings barely supporting his weight. Apolla chuckled darkly as he tried to stay airbourne, before grabbing his wrists and kicking him three times; the groin, the stomach, the face. He crumpled like a piece of paper, tumbling towards the ground.
Apolla tried to do a head count, but she could barely see amongst the Erasers. Where she hovered off the cliff face, six Erasers flew towards her. Anger welled inside her as her thoughts returned to Silver, and she let out a yell, charging at the nearest flying doggie. Before she reached him, she felt a powerful gust of wind radiate from her, blowing all six away in one swoop.
Without time to contemplate whether it was her doing, she returned to the forest to defend the others.
(Should keep me going for a while, covered a few posts worth in one just to save time.)
