Let's say I gave you a device that allowed you to put an end on a gaming franchise, as in, after you used it, the franchise would no longer continue.

What video game franchise would you use this device on? As in, what gaming franchises would you like to see put to rest? Feel free to share any and all thoughts~

    Inb4cod.

No but seriously Call Of Duty. Go away.

    Call of Duty.

Unless they actually do big changes to each game, I don't see why they should keep making those games.

    E effin A.

Their servers are crap as hell, BF4 was just fully dissappointing and they screwed up my fave RTS series ever cause of their sodding greed...

Breath of Fire. For the love of god Capcom, what are you thinking with that atrocity?
I'll one-up that and say Mega Man.

I'll avoid the obvious answers. As much as I love Uncharted, you seriously can't do much with the formula without a major overhaul. Instead of getting excited for Uncharted 4 all I thought was "really?" and just kept thinking about how it won't be as good as UC2 anyway. Also, I honestly think Little Big Planet should just die.

Halo as well. I do NOT like the way 343i is treating the franchise. Halo 4 was terrible. Halo 3 was the last good game (and god damn was it good) but the series was going seriously downhill afterwards. Just when you thought they hit rock bottom with Reach, they release Halo 4....yeah. Destiny looks pretty much like Halo with its combat evolved anyway, so us fans will get our fill. (excuse the pun, I couldn't help it.)

Resident Evil...I wouldn't put it here normally, since 5 wasn't bad and 6 was the only mediocre game, but after reading the whole collaboration with fashion magazines that Capcom is going for and how they just publicly stated they're aiming for teenagers as their target audience just screams NO.

I'm honestly also getting tired of 3D Zelda. The direction they're going for these days is off putting. Personally, I only liked OoT of the 3D entries (I actually liked Skyward Sword too, but only because of the awesome combat and dungeon design, everything else sucked), so I'm not particularly into the series. But I wouldn't want the series to die, just for the team to make maybe one more 2D Zeldas (Since ALBW was great) and apply what made them very good to the 3D series. Or basically, OoT2.

The only milked series I can think of that SHOULDN'T be put off is Mario. (Mainline Mario at least) NSMBU/NSLU is the best 2D Mario and 3D World is a serious contender for Game of the Year (as much as I don't really like it) the series is clearly still going strong.

Don't wanna derail the thread, but that was Twilight Princess. And despite the hate that it gets, that was easily the Best 3D Zelda since Majora's Mask. If we're talking bout straight up OoT2 in the same vein as LBW, oh god no. Hyrule is too small, there's not much you can do to remix the OW, and in terms of the timeline there is nothing they can do. Again, sorry for derailing the thread, but OoT2 has happened.

I meant OoT2 in the sense that there should be no padding, or handholding, or mandatory fetch quests, but I don't really want a straight sequel. OoT is the only 3D Zelda with good pacing imo (haven't played Majora's Mask), so I want them to get back to that. Twilight Princess has awesome dungeons, I'll give it that, but everything else was eh if you ask me.

As fond of memories as I have of the early installments, Lego. There actually used to be creative level designs, funny cutscenes, and recognizable yet simple characters. Ever since maybe Lego Harry Potter (or maybe the second Indiana Jones one), though, it's just been way too close to the original IPs. It took me over a year to beat Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 because I just didn't give a crap.

Also, Mario & Sonic (the Olympic Games series). Has anyone honestly cared past the first one? Same with Katamari.

I'm getting a little tired of Phantasy Star, too, and I think it's time for Kingdom Hearts to start wrapping up.

I'm okay with ALBW since that's an actually new entry. But damn, I've had enough of those remakes.

I'm not wild about NSMBU from what I've played, and SM3DW looks mid-tier, but I'm not ready to give up on the franchise yet. Actually, I'd like another full 3D one a la Galaxy (but not "Galaxy 3").

Im quite suprised im the only one who said EA, since they did some really horrible things aswell, even worse than CoD imo.

You're not the only one who thinks this, but EA isn't really a series.

    Oh right... bollocks...

Well then id love to see FIFA and Battlefield burn in hell... then my dream still comes true >:P

Sonic the Hedgehog. I think we can all agree here that his more recent games haven't been very good. IMO, the last truly good Sonic game was Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (which is just the Gamecube port of Sonic Adventure 2). And that was over 12 years ago. If Sega/Sonic Team doesn't make a good Sonic game soon, they should just stick a bullet in him and be done with it. I understand companies wanting to milk a franchise, but when you milk, try to produce high-quality milk.

Disagree. Both Sonic Generations and Colors were way, way, way better than either Sonic Adventure games. In fact, I'd go as far to say the Sonic Adventure games are absolutely terrible. Before Colors, the series has been on a decline after Sonic 3.

But, only Colors and Generations were any good. Lost Worlds ended up being pretty bad, so I can't say I disagree on Sonic being on this. Although, Lost Worlds problem is its lack of focus. If it was more polished and focused, it would have been pretty great, so there's that...

I'd make NFS burn in hell, unless they reveal Underground 2 style customization in the game after Rivals. Battlefield 4 also can go to hell. That game is horrid, terrible, sickening. Not because of the gore, but because of the story. In general, Battlefield SUCKS.

My main point still stands. A lot of Sonic's games haven't been great, and Sega/Sonic Team have yet to consistently put out good Sonic games. Which ones are good and when exactly the decline started depends, as always, on everyone's individual opinions.

Although, tbh, I haven't played Colors.

Lego and Angry Birds, hands down. Lego games have never been good, while Angry Birds started bad and just keeps getting worse with every game they come out with. Actually, both have been having a terrible track record of coming out with games that aren't even their own games; they're just really bad crossovers with other franchises that (in and of themselves) weren't that great to begin with (i.e. Star Wars).
