Even though Liliana was still freaked out about the dream, she decided they needed to move on anyway. There was no point in being freaked out about a nightmare for an entire day while they could be reaching Violet City and facing the first gym. So she and her Pokémon went on their way again. The landscape was a lot of the same. A few hills, a lot of trees and a small path to follow. It was quite dull, and Liliana was in a hurry to reach the city and perhaps even get some proper rest. Even though she had slept the last night, it felt as if she might have been sleep for maybe an hour at most.

This was when she noticed sharp cries. A shockwave went through the ground, almost knocking Liliana down. She just had to know what was happening, and she found out soon enough. When she reached the site she found two people in a fierce battle. There was a woman fighting with a Charizard as a man was opposing her with his Dragonite. A mighty sight to see the titans fighting each other.

The woman had very dark skin and even darker hair. She was holding her arm in front of her face to shield her eyes from the dust that the Dragonite had whipped up with its twister. The Charizard countered the twister with a beat of its wings, dove toward the Dragonite and fired a powerful Dragon Rage attack. The blonde male was asking his dragon to hit the Charizard with an Aqua Tail, but the red creature dodged it exprertly.

"Ah Power… It does feel great to hold it, " Liliana jumped, she hadn't heard the man coming. He was small, bald and had a long white beard. Almost stereotype wise man with his brown clothing. He also had a cane, and whenever he moved he seemed to be in a bit of pain. "Power does come at a cost sometime, sometimes it forces you to choose the wrong side of something and make a bad decision, but it's worth it to have that feeling of overwhelming power… wouldn't you agree?"

"Power.." Liliana repeated. The word, it seemed to daze her a bit. Almost tempting her. When she turned to look at the man he was gone. Power… She had never held real power before. Never had she really felt important. Sure, she knew she was important to her family. But not in a real way. Not in a way that she might want it to be. She had the strange desire to be powerful, to make a difference. Sure, everything came with a cost, right? But what if the cost was worth it. What if she could do great good with the power? Or-

Her thought was interrupted by another wave from the battlefield. The Charizard had attacked the Dragonite with a Dragon Pulse of a power that Liliana had never seen before. The pulse was so powerful that the entire area was engulfed in a gust of wind, the trees bending away from the dragon. The Dragonite wasn't able to fend it off, and it fell down hard into the ground. The dark woman called her Charizard back, complimenting it on its performance as she called it back. She turned away from the boy with such cool grace. Liliana had no choice but to admire her. That was how she wanted to be. With a Pokémon so strong as the Charizard.

Power… Yes power was something she would like to achieve someday. She wouldn't do anything really bad to get it of course! Of course..?

She had the sudden urge to train her Pokémon. To find someone to battle. She looked around and saw a girl battling a wild Ledyba with her Venonat, but the wild Pokémon fled the battle. She seemed to be disappointed and Liliana approached her.

"Feel like battling?" She asked and the girl's face lit up with surprise and delight.

"Yes sure, uhm, I have three Pokémon. What kind of battle do you want?" Liliana felt a surge of overconfidence. She could surely take on this girl's three Pokémon, she didn't looks all to powerful as a trainer. It would be no big deal, really.

"Single battle, two to three okay? I'm Liliana by the way"

"Felice, and you're one!" the girl brushed a lock of white blonde hair behind her ear as she looked at her Vanonat. Liliana decided to start with Djali, who was in need of some desperate training before she could be the powerhouse against the Violet gym. She released the Pokémon from her ball and Djali came out, looking around nervously. Liliana briefly wondered if Djali would ever stop being so tense, but then focused on the Vanonat again.

"Nelly, use Confusion!" Felice wasn't waiting for anything, she cut right to the chase. Vanonat's eyes turned a strange pink colour as Djali was lifted into the air and swung away. The Vanonat seemed to have recently learned the move, however, because the throw was very weak and Djali just landed on his feet.

"Djali, do on and tackle!"

"Nelly, tackle the Shinx right back!" The two Pokémon rushed toward each other, prepared to collide head first if it weren't for Liliana's last minute command. "Djali, now side-step and hit it from the side!" Djali jumped out of the way at the last minute and hit Nelly in the side. The Vanonat seemed to have received great damage from that single move, but it recovered quickly and jumped back up.

"Nelly, try Condusion again!" Liliana watched Djali be lifted into the air again, but once again the throw was weak and Djali landed no problem. "Djali, tackle!" Djali rushed toward the Vanonat the moment its feet touched the ground and threw it upwards. Once again Nelly's defense seemed to be very low, because it seemed to get great damage from this one move.

"Nelly, you can do it! Try Confusion again!" Felice seemed to have a lot of confidence in the Vanonat. This time Nelly succeeded in pulling off the move affectively. It threw Djali against a tree, something the Shinx did not like very much. Felice eagerly cheered Nelly on to do it again, and Djali hadn't slid down to the ground yet or the same move was repeated, slamming her against the tree again.

"Djali, quickly tackle him with all of your might!" the Shinx got up as soon as it reached the round. Nelly tried to hit her with Confusion again, but Djali easily dodged them. Where Nelly had aimed a small pink dot grazed the ground, but there was nothing there. Djali hit Vanonat right on the nose and it flew into another tree, sliding fown unconscious.

"Come back Nelly, you did great. Sammy, it's your turn!" The Poké Ball revealed a small Sandshrew. It eagerly jumped up and down. "Use scratch, Sammy!" the creature jumped toward Djali and scratched it right in the nose. That seemed to anger her because she jumped toward it with a start and tackled Sammy away from her. It flew a bit away, landing on its back but it jumped up no problem.

"Sammy you can do it, try that again!" Sammy did, it once again jumped up toward Djali, who dodged and tried to tackle it again. Sammy was also quick and avoided the attack, after it had sidestepped it scratched Djali angrily at the side. This was too much for the little Shinx and she fell to the ground exhausted.

"It's okay little one, come back. Nala, your turn!" Liliana released the little grass type, and as soon as it was out she told her to use Razor Leaf. One series of leaves and Sammy was down. Ground types did not like that grass. And there was the little tidbit that Nala was much stronger than Sammy was.

"Ow, Sammy! That's okay, I still have Sunny left. Try beating him so easily!" Felice eagerly released a Sunflora, it seemed a lot stronger than the other two had been. "Sunny, use Pound for a start!" Sunny jumped forward and brought her leaf down right on top of Nala's head. You'd think that leaf wouldn't be able to hit very hard, but in that you were wrong. It seemed the leaf was strong as a brick, because Nala shook her head painfully. She angrily released a Razor Leaf, but it didn't seem to do anything.

"Nala, Sunflora is a grass type! Don't try to fight grass with grass! Try tackle instead!" Nala raced toward Sunny, but he easily dodged her attack and fired another pound.

"Sunny, use growth, after that deliver another pound attack!" Felice seemed to be entirely in tune with her Sunflora, because she knew exactly what to do. Suddenly, Sunny seemed to glow as he grew at least an inch bigger and his leaves grew significantly in size. It quickly brought one down on Nala. At the same time Nala used a tackle to push against the leaf. The two seemed to struggle for a while, neither of them penetrating into the other's defenses. Then Nala seemed to struggle to keep up, the small thing simply wasn't up against Sunflora after his growth. Then the unthinkable happened.

Nala glowed in a bright white light as she slowly grew bigger. After the light broke away, she cried out enthusiastically. Nala had evolved into a Bayleaf! She growled low as she pushed against the Sunflora, now being the same height, and knocked him over. He scrambled to his feet and seemed to wait for another command.

"Congrats Nala!" Liliana called to her Pokémon. "Now see if he can dodge a tackle of yours!"

"Sunny, don't let this catch you off-guard! Try pound again, we'll get them!" Sunny jumped up and brought his leaf down for a pound, but Bayleaf brought her head down and waited patiently for sunny to be right under her. Then she jumped up and caught Sunny in his stomach. She moved her neck and flung him to the side. He tried getting up, but collapsed. Nala was breathing heavily and looking triumphantly at the Pokémon she had tried to defeat.

"Ow, Sunny. It's okay, come back," Felice smiled as she recalled her Pokémon. "That was one amazing battle, eh? You won, fair and square, and congrats on the Bayleaf. I have to go though, get these three healed up before I get attacked by a wild Pokémon." She laughed kindly and ran toward Violet city. Liliana moved to follow when she heard a rustle of leaves.

She turned so fast that her dark hair spun around her, smacking her in the face from the other side. She saw a flash of the old man she had seen before, his shoulders seemed to be shaking as if he were chuckling to himself. He was no longer wearing worn brown clothes however, instead there was a bright white cloak.

Liliana shuddered. The cloak reminded her a bit too much of the nightmare. The death of the guy. Zephyr…

She quickly blocked the thought from her mind as she started toward Violet city. She was very close now, it was only a little bit away. As she arrived she noticed the beauty of the city, very different from the bit rough looks of Cherrygrove. She ran toward the Center to heal her Pokémon, but all the while she saw the big building rising above all others. The gym. A feeling of longing and anticipation rose in her as she entered the center. She would show him. Show the leader that she did possess some power.

By the time Kenneth had reached Route 31, the sun was high in the sky. He had been quiet the whole walk, his mind trying to make sense of his dream. However, nothing he thought of made any sort of sense. He tried to remember what Elm had said, but he could only remember small parts of it. After awhile he decided to forget it and focus on what he had to do today.

Route 31 was much shorter than Route 30, but it still had its share of ledges and housed more tall grass than its counterpart route. A rather large pond could be found along the route, containing many types of water pokemon. Just before one reached the pond the entrance to a cave could be seen. The sign by the entrance was old and worn, but the name could still be read: Dark Cave. The name fit, as one could barely see even one foot into the cave.

Kenneth had half the mind to venture into the cave when he past it, but decided to do so later. He wasn't far from Violet City now and his first gym battle. He looked over at Lily and Zack and felt quite confident that he could put up at challenge. He began to speak but stopped when a loud roar ranged his ears.

Up ahead, near the pond, there was a battle going on. Kenneth could make out two figures each standing by a large winged pokemon. Eyes lit and began a short jog over to the area, but kept his distance so he wouldn't disturb the battle.

He could now tell what each pokemon was. One he recognized immediately to be Charizard a flying and fire type. It stood tall, wings spread out watching its opponent. It was rather tall and bulky, easily out sizing the Charizard. The orange colored pokemon possessed powerful looking arms and legs and large wings.

Kenneth had never seen such a pokemon before and reached for his pokedex.

Dragonite, the Dragon Pokemon. It is said that this Pokémon constantly flies over the immense seas and rescues drowning people.

"Whoa, a dragon type!" Kenneth exclaimed turning his attention back to the battle. With a quick flap of its wings the Dragonite charged the Charizard who took off into the skies. The two flew around in the air, attacking, dodging and colliding with such force that the water in the nearby pond rippled. Kenneth was in complete awe in the in the way that the trainers calmly commanded their pokemon while keeping their powers under wraps.

"Take this, Hyper Beam!" Dragonite's trainer called. In a flash the Dragonite's wings grew bigger and brought it to a stop in the air. The other trainer smirked and called out to Charizard. It too stopped in the air and began to form an attack. Kenneth watched closely, waiting to see what would happen.

"Ah power," Kenneth froze, feeling a hand lay on his shoulder and snapped around to see an odd old man. He was just a bit shorter than Kenneth. He had a long white beard and a shiny bald head. In his left hand he carried a cane while his other arm rested behind his back. Kenneth opened his mouth to respond to the man but there was a loud boom. He then felt a hard wind blow against his back, ruffling his hair and turning up his collar. He stepped to the side, looking back at the trainers only to see the area covered in smoke.

"It sure does feel great to hold it." Kenneth nodded turning back to look at the old man. "Power does come at a cost sometime, sometimes it forces you to choose the wrong side of something and make a bad decision, but it's worth it to have that feeling of overwhelming power… wouldn't you agree?"

Before Kenneth could answer the old man turned and began to walk away. Deciding not to bother him he turned to see the results of the trainer's battle only to find that they had already left. He sighed and began to continue his way to Violet.

'No, I wouldn't agree. It may be nice to have overwhelming power but it's never worth it if you have to do something bad or choose the wrong side.' He took another glance back at the lake. 'That wrong side may just end up hurting those important to you.' He thought about his dream, the man in the black and the one in white. 'And I never want that to happen.'

The rest of the walk was peaceful. After passing by the lake the path went down a hill into a moderate high grassy area. Kenneth swore under his breath for not wearing pants as he didn't like the feeling of grass scratching up against his leg. Lily and Zack didn't seem to mind and while Kenneth was complaining at time and scratching his leg, they began to play hide and seek.

"Hey, you!" Kenneth grumbled, looking up in the direction of the voice. Standing out of the tall grass he saw a guy around his age holding a pokeball in his hand. He stood about the same height as Kenneth with dirty blonde hair and greenish blue eyes. He was plainly dressed in jeans, a blue shirt with a yellow design on the left side and converse shoes. He smirked at Kenneth.

"How about a battle?" Kenneth blinked nothing knowing what to think. He still wasn't quite used to the rule of being challenged out of the blue and he knew he couldn't turn it down. He needed the practice. He rushed out of the grass, followed closely behind by his pokemon.

"Okay, you're on!" The guy only smirked and tossed his pokeball into the air. A small yellow pokemon with a plug-like body and had bulky arms. Judging by the small sparks of electricity around its 'prongs', Kenneth could tell that it was an electric type.

"Ok, let's show 'em what you've got Zack!" The shinx responded in delight, running forward to face off the pokemon while Kenneth took out his pokedex.

Elekid, the Electric Pokemon. It rotates its arms to generate electricity, but it tires easily, so it charges up only a little bit.

Zack lowered himself to the ground and started to glow a bit. "Hmm what's that?" He pointed the sensor of his pokedex at Zack.

Shinx's ability is Rivalry. Its attack power increases if its opponent is of the same gender and decreases if not.

'Then I'm guessing that Elekid's a male.' He smiled. "Zack, Leer!" Zack growled, still low to the ground and his eyes began to glow.

"Elekid, counter with a leer of your own!" Elekid followed suit and both pokemon held each other's gaze.

"Elekid, Quick attack!" Elekid broke eye contact, zooming in close and tackling Zack before he could react. He rolled backwards a bit and then quickly jumped to his feet.

"Tackle!" No time wasted, Zack made a mad dash for Elekid. He pounced, ramming head first into the baby pokemon. The trainer scuffed. "Low Kick." Elekid spun while on the ground and smashed his leg into Zack's front paws. The blue cub pokemon feel face first into the dirt.

"ThunderShock." Elekid rotated his arms, generating electricity. Once he was charged enough he sent a jolt of lighting at Zack. It made contact before Kenneth could give Zack a command, but he didn't seemed harmed at the attack at all.

"Tackle!" Zack barked and rammed Elekid with his shoulder. The young flew backwards and started to roll once he hit the ground.

"Quick attack!" Elekid shakily got to his feet and ran at Zack with amazing speed.

"Leer and Tackle!" His eye glowed as he charged the speeding plug-like pokemon. For a second they made eye contact and Elekid hesitated for a second. That's all that Zack need and he ran smack-dab into him, pushing him back quite a bit.
"Come on Elekid, Low Kick!" Elekid stood but quickly fell again. The trainer shook his head. "Oh well, good job, Elekid." He recalled the fainted pokeball while grabbing another ball. "Go Bedew!"

Bedew, the Bud Pokemon. Sensitive to changing temperature, the bud is said to bloom when it feels the sun's warm touch.

'It's a grass and poison type, so sending Lily in isn't a smart idea. But it looks stronger than that Elekid. I'm not sure how long Zack will last, but we've got to try.' Kenneth tightened his grip on his pokedex.

"Let's start out with Leer!" Zack barked and the glow around his body turned dark as he made eye contact with Bedew. Noticing, Kenneth figured that the Bedew was female, making the battle a lot harder than he had expected. 'At least I got a leer in.'

"Bedew growth!" It nodded and began to glow.

"Zack, use this chance to get it in another leer!" Zack eyes glowed once again, intimidating Bedew and causing her to take a step back.

"Stay strong, Stun Spore!" The vines above her head unwrapped, revealing a blue spot on one and a red spot on the other. She began to shake them, releasing an orange powder.

"Zack, you've got to avoid that mist!" Zack barked and jumped back, breaking eye contact. He circled around the bedew looking for a chance to attack.

"You should try looking up," the trainer said, crossing his arms with a smirked. Kenneth felt a sharp pain in his heart as he watched the powder that was surrounding Zack.

"Zack, tackle Bedew with everything you've got." The cub lowered himself to the ground, barely missing the falling orange powder and dashed into it rushing bedew. Her trainer laughed at the foolish moved but he smiled was wiped away when Zack crashed full-force into her with his whole body, sending her flying. She gave a cry as she collided with a tree and fell to the ground.

After a few seconds she struggled to her feet. Zack got ready to pounce again but electricity sparked around him and he found himself unable to move.

"Mega Drain!" Bedew's bud began to glow white. Kenneth bit his lip, calling out to Zack, who still couldn't move. A greenish beam shot forward from Bedew's bud and wrapped around Zack. He winced in pain and soon collapsed, defeated. The beam when returned to bedew and she began to heal.

Kenneth recalled Zack into his pokeball, hanging his head down. He glanced over at Lily. Her cheeks were red with anger from seeing her teammate fall in battle. "Alright, you're up. Just make sure to avoid that beam." Lily nodded and jumped forward ready to fight.

"Mega Drain!" Bedew once again began to glow and sent a green beam at Lily. "Dodge and counter with DoubleSlap!" Lily jumped to the side, narrowly evading the beam and rushed at Bedew. She spun, slapping Bedew across the face with her tail. She attacked three more times with her tail, the last slap sending Bedew falling to the ground.

"Stun Spore!" Bedew jumped up and released the orange powder.

"Two can play that game! Lily, Hypnosis!"

"Poli!" Her stomach began to glow and sent hypnotic waves towards Bedew. Both moves made contact as Bedew slowly fell into a deep sleep and Lily found herself unable to move. Kenneth smiled and thumbed his nose.

On a hill not far from the battle the old man was watching the kid battle. He seemed to take some interest in the kid's battle style and started to laugh. He walked away, becoming enveloped in a white cloak.

"I guess it's a stalemate then." The other trainer laughed, recalling his pokemon. "I guess so. That's good enough for now." He turned and began to walk away. He stopped and looked back over his shoulder. "By the way, my name's Ruston. What's yours?"

"Kenneth." Ruston began to walk off again without another word. Kenneth blinked and recalled Lily. "That was a good battle." Inside the pokeball he could see Lily nod. "Somehow I knew you would think so."

He continued along the path that Ruston had taken. Soon he passed through another field of tall grass and came up another hill. At the top he came across a building which he remembered to be the checkpoint station. He went through the building, giving the guard there a wave.

On the other side was Violet City, his fourth favorite town. Upon passing through the double doors he found himself in a town decorated in a traditional Japanese style. Small homes filled the area and a bit to the distance he could see a very large tower: Sprout Tower. To the west of it was a smaller, but still large building that wasn't decorated in the town's style. Kenneth knew that was where he was headed, after he stopped by the Pokemon Center.

Chapter 4 parts 1& 2...Disturbances??

"Hah! So Chukapis how does it feel to know your trainer is amazing!" Scythe questioned his Pikachu with a smile. "Chaaaaa?" Chukapis remarked back with a look of anguish. "haha im just kidding little buddy, it was all thanks to you and Pidgey that we won." He than quickly said. Chukapis smiled and continued to rest on Scythe's shoulder. After beating the Highwaymen and their leader Scythe has been feeling confident as he now enters Route 30, the final route between him and his first badge.

"It's getting dark...do you think we should keep going Chukapis?" Scythe asked Chukapis. "Pi!" the yellow mouse said as he nodded in a yes manner. "Thats what I like to hear!" Scythe exclaimed as he began to run forward.

"Hey kid...where do you think your going, I saw you that means we have to battle!" a voice from the left of Scythe said. "Huh...o ok?" Scythe calmly said as he came to a complete stop to look for the person who spoke to him. "My name is Jimmy the Great and you will be my next victum!" A young adult about twenty, wearing a black cape and a suit said as he stepped out from the bushes. "Uh huh? and your sure that you're a trainer?" Scythe laughed as he questioned the funny dressed man.

"AHhh! Of course I am now stop talking and battle!" Jimmy hollered with a angry look on his face. "Ha alright...Chukapis you ready for a battle?" Scythe asked the Pikachu on his shoulder. "PIKA!" the pokemon exclaimed as it hopped off his shoulder and landed on all fours on the ground. "Ha let's see if your Pikachu can beat my Charmander!" Jimmy said as he rolled a pokeball on the ground, which eventually stopped and released a fearsome looking Charmander. "CHAR!" the demented looking Charmander roared.

"Wow whats up with your Charmander?" Scythe asked jimmy in a worried manner. "He's just trained the right way...without emotions" Jimmy answered. "How can you train a pokemon without showing emotions?" Scythe said back feeling bad for the Charmander. "Listen kid i'll train my pokemon however I want now let's battle!" Jimmy yelled back. "Grrr Fine! Chukapis use thunderwave!" Scythe commanded.

"Charmander use Smokescreen!" Jimmy ordered. "CHARRRRR" the fire pokemon screamed as smoke covered the field. "Ah Chukapis can you see?" Scythe asked his pokemon not being able to see it. "Pi PI PI???" Chukapis answered back sounding confused. "Now Charmander use ember!" Jimmy yelled out into the smoke. "Charrrrmanderrrr!" Charmander blurted profusly as it sent flames rushing from it's mouth straight into Chukapis.

"Piiii!" Chukapis exclaimed as it rolled back and the smoke cleared. "Ah Chukapis are you ok?" Scythe asked. "Pika!" Chukapis yelled back as it stood it's ground. "Ha Alright awesome! Use Thundershock!" Scythe than ordered. "Charmander block it out with ember!" Jimmy said to Charmander. The two pokemon's attacks collided and countered each other out. "Ok Charmander use Ember again and knock this mouse out!" Jimmy hollered. "Charrrrmander!" Charmander estaticly yelled as flames once again shot from it's mouth.

"Chukapis dodge and run circles around Charmander"! Scythe hurridley yelled to Chukapis. "Pi!" Chukapis said as it moved out of the way of the ember attack and began running around Charmander. "Hey what are you doing kid!" Jimmy angrily shouted at Scythe. "I'm planning!" Scythe laughed back knowing that Charmander couldn't keep up with Chukapis.

"Planning? This is a battle not a wedding! Charmander burn down the whole area with ember!" Jimmy yelled. "Huh you can't do that you'll kill the wild pokemon! Chukapis now Thunderwave on Charmander!" Scythe yelled to Chukapis as he worried about his surroundings. "PIKACHU!" Chukapis roared as it continued to run in circles but sent a shock wave straight for Charmander who was beginning to attack with ember again.

"PZZZZT" was the noise made when Chukapis's thunderwave made contact with Charmander. "Cha.." Charmander quietly said as it dropped to a knee not able to move. "Ha ok now Chukapis hit it with a tail whip!" Scythe commanded releazing the battle was over. "NO!" Jimmy boomed as he watched Chukapis slam it's tail into Charmander's face thrusting it about five yards forward.

"Char..man..d..." Charmander weakly proclaimed as it fell unconcious. "No how could you win...we will battle again and I won't lose!" Jimmy humiliatingly screamed at Scythe as he ran off down route 30. "Good job Chukapis...I love how you never give up!" Scythe said to Chukapis as he returned it to it's pokeball for a rest.
1 hour later
"Alright guys eat up before I put everything away." Scythe said playfully to his pokemon as they all sat around a campfire. "You guys full?" he than asked as both pokemon pushed their plates in. "Pika!" "Pidg!" they both happily yelled. "Good to hear...Pidgey, Chukapis return!" Scythe said as he returned them to their pokeballs.

"Ahh it's been quite a day and I won a lot of battles...I wonder how the other trainer's are doing?" Scythe asked him self as he slowly dozed off to sleep.

"Fwoooosh!" a loud noise was made that woke Scythe up from his slumber. "What the hell!" Scythe quietly asked himself as he looked off into the distance to see if he could see what made the noise.

"Chukapis come on out!" Scythe said as he released Chukapis. "Pi?" Chukapis asked Scythe as it looked half asleep and angry that it was woken up. "I need you to create sparks so I can see what's up ahead...can ya do that for me?" Scythe begged Chukapis. Chukapis looked away for a second than turned around with sparks emmitting from it's cheeks. "Thanks buddy" Scythe said to Chukapis as they began to walk towards where the noise came from.

"Well Cyndaquil, I think we'd better keep going," a voice said from up ahead. Thinking fast Scythe and Chukapis ducked down behind a bush to see who it was. "Huh? I can't tell but I think that's one of the other trainers from Elm's lab?" Scythe questioned himself as he was unsure. "I wonder what he was doing up here?" Scythe than asked Chukapis. Chukapis shrugged it's shoulders and the two waited for the kid to pass.

"Ok let's go! Chukapis!" Scythe whispered to Chukapis. After walking for another minute the two noticed a small run down house up ahead and Scythe calmly hurried over to it. "Pika Pi!" Chukapis worridely yelled out to it's trainer. "Whats wrong it's just a house?" Scythe smiled as he picked up Chukapis and carried him over to the door. "Pi pi Pi PIKACHU!!!!!!!!!!" Chukapis exclaimed in a booming manner as it thundershocked Scythe knocking him to the ground.

Scythe laid their for a second and than got up..."You little baby!" Scythe yelled as he pointed and laughed at Chukapis. "PII!" Chukapis cautiously stated getting ready to attack it's trainer again. "Fine I won't make you go in but will you atleast stand at the doorway and light it up for me?" Scythe once again begged the scared Pikachu. "Pi!" Chukapis said in aggreance as he light up the way for Scythe to enter. "Thank you." Scythe said as he walked into the house. Chukapis just kept it's eyes on the house with a very scared look.

"Hey what's this?" Scythe said as he picked up a picture of two men. "One of them must have lived here before." he stated as he set the picture back down. "Well I guess there's nothing of import..ance?" Scythe stopped in midsentence as he noticed a red spill on the floor. He bent over to take a look at it, "Is that blood?" "Get out..." a voice said from in the house. "what? Holy ****!!!" Scythe panicked as he looked up and saw a horrifying girl starring back at him.

"Who the hell are you?" Scythe yelled as he looked at the entrance releazing the door and windows were all shut. "Chukapis!!!!" he yelled hoping Chukapis would hear him but it was no hope. "Darkness has a way of keeping the dead alive"the little girl says just before she vanishes.

"Huh...what does that mean?" Scythe questioned as a Gastly appeared in the girl's place. "Ah a Gastly? come on out pidgey!" The boy yelled as he sent out his pokemon. "PIDDGEYYY!" Pidgey screamed as it soared around the room.

Scythe pulled out his pokedex and realized the only attack Pidgey knew that would affect Gastly was sand attack.."Wow what good that will do...but i guess it's worth a shot!" Scythe blurted out. "Pidgey just keep using sand-attack on Gastly!" Scythe ordered from Pidgey who quickly obeyed and began sweeping Sand into Gastly's eyes.

"gas..tly.."the ghost pokemon whispered as it vanished into thin air and all the doors and windows opened up again. "Well...that was easy...maybe someone had weakened it or something?" Scythe thought to himself as realized how easy the battle was. He than returned Pidgey and walked outside were chukapis was worried.

"PIKA!" Chukapis exclaimed with joy as it ran over and jumped up and hugged it's trainer. "Ha i'm ok buddy...but man was that weird...and what did that girl mean.."Scythe said outloud. "Pi?" Chukapis said with a look of unknowingness on it's face. "O well I guess we should keep going now...but return to your pokeball and take a rest Chukapis." Scythe said as he returned the mouse to its ball.

"Hmm seems like things are gonna get a bit weird now" Scythe said to himself as he started walking back to his campsite to pack his things up. "Ok so this goes in this part of my backpack and this goes in...AHHHHH...AHHHHH....AHHHH...whats going on with my head? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Scythe began to yell out in a terrifying way as he put his hands to his head and began to thrust his head back and fourth.

And than it stopped...and a smile came to his face...

Chapter five..what happened

"ZZZZZZZ" Scythe Rainer snored loudley but silently at the same time. "Charizard counter with Blast Burn!" a loud voice rang into Scythe's ear waking him up from his sleep.

"Huh? Where am I...What...I...Why...why am I in this bush...and how did I get here.." Scythe muttered to himself as he remembered the night before. "My head...it was hurting real bad last night and than...idk...but i'm not even where I was when the headache started...I dont understand.." he continued until he looked up and realized there was a heated battle going on outside the bushes he was laying in.

"Dragonite use Dragon Rage!" one of the trainer's yelled out. "Wow a Dragonite and a Charizard thats ama.." Scythe was interupted. "Ah power… it sure does feel great to hold it… Power does come at a cost sometime, sometimes it forces you to choose the wrong side of something and make a bad decision, but its worth it to have that feeling of overwhelming power… wouldn't you agree?" An old man with a really long white beared says from behind Scythe as he stares at the trainers. "Huh how did you get back here?" Scythe asked as he turned around to speak to the old man. "I can be anywhere...it comes with power" the old man says as he walks away leaving Scythe confused.

"I...what the hell is going on.." Scythe says feeling confused about everything thats happened in the past two days. He turns around to finish watching the battle but to his suprise it's over and the trainers are gone. "How did they get away so fast?" Scythe asked himself but figured he'd better find out where he is first.

After walking for a minute or two Scythe finaly runs into a sign that reads, "You are now on Route 31, next stop Violet City!" "Wow...i'm already so close to Violet City and my gym badge...I guess I really have no reason to worry about what happened last night." Scythe says reassuring himself as he starts to walk towards Violet City.

"I wonder what Violet City is like." Scythe asked himself as he continued to walk towards his destination. As Scythe moves forward he steps on a weird pile of dirt. "Whoa this is weird?" Scythe saya as he slams his foot down on the pile of dirt. "OUCH!!!!!!" a kid in a ninja costume booms as he emerges from the ground knocking Scythe down.

"Hey what's the big idea?!?!" Scythe asks the kid in an angered way. "I was hiding you dumbass!!!!!" the ninja boy yells back. "Hiding from what the boogey man? and what's up with your mouth didn't your mother teach you better than that? And what is up with your outfit kid, does everyone in Johto dress weird cause that's all i've seen since I started this journey." Scythe explained in question form to the boy.

"Grrr i'm a ninja that's why i'm wearing these clothes and that's why I was hiding!" the ninja boy throws back. "A ninja? hahaha no seriously is it halloween cause you look ridiculous!!!" Scythe continues to laugh at the boy. "Stop laughing!!!!" the kid says back as he begins to throw a tantrum.

"Orrrrrrrrrr what! You gonna call your mommy on me?????" Scythe continues to make fun of the boy. "AHHH POKEMON BATTLE NOW!!!!!" the upset boy hollers to Scythe. "huh...a battle?" Scythe asks as he stops making fun of the boy and puts on a serious face. "Yes a battle! and if I win you become my ***** forever!" ninja boy blurts back.

"Your *****??? how old are you...like ten and your calling someone your *****? Fine I accept the battle but if I win you have to clean up your act!" Scythe happily says as he accepts the boys challenge. "Pssh fine but I won't lose to a chump like you! By the way my name is Gregory!" Gregory responds.

"Well Ninja Boy Gregory my name is Scythe Rainer and i'm going to beat you in a battle!" Scythe confidently explains to Gregory. "Ha sure you are! It will be a one on one battle and each trainer will be allowed two pokemon..understood?" Gregory asked Scythe as he explained the rules. "Agreed! Come on out Pidgey!" Scythe exclaims as he sends out Pidgey.

"Ok I chose you Ninjask!" Gregory excitedly yells as he sends out his first pokemon. "A Ninjask huh?" Scythe says to himself as he pulls out his Pokedex and records it's data. "Ok let's begin!" Both boys said at the same time.

"Ninjask use Scratch!" Gregory commanded. "Nin!" the Ninjask swiftly says as it moves in for the attack. "Ok Pidgey use sand-attack now!" Scythe yells in a fast paced way. "PID GAA! Pidgey chirps as it flaps it wings and sends sand flying into the eyes of Ninjask. "Nin Nin!" Ninjask repeatedly says.

"Now Pidgey flap your wings and finish that bug off with a gust!" Scythe confidently orders Pidgey. "Pi PI Pi PIDGAAA!" Pidgey chirps as it flaps it wings sending a huge gust of wind soaring at the Ninjask.

"NIIIIIIIIINJAAAKKKK!" the Ninjask frightendly cries as it soars through the air and gets tossed into a tree. "Uhh...Ninjask are you ok?" Gregory asks as no response comes from his unconcious Ninjask. "Hmmmph this isn't over Scythe!" Gregory angrily condemns to Scythe.

"I know that! It's never over till the last pokemon is down! So lets keep it going!" Scythe respectfully says to Gregory. Gregory throws on a smile and says, "Lets go Ariados!" "DOI DOI!" the bug type pokemon hisses. Scythe once again pulls out his pokedex to obtain the data on Ariados and than the battle begins again.

"Ok Pidgey use Gust again!" Scythe commanded. "Ariados counter with Night Shade!" Gregory says with a smirk. "DOOI!" Ariados hisses loudly as it begins to attack Pidgey with Night Shade. "Pidgey look out!" Scythe yells out but it's to late the mind game attack called Night Shade takes it's toll on Pidgey and knocks it unconcious.

"....Pidgey...return! Good job!" Scythe whispers to Pidgeys pokeball as he tucks it away and pulls out Chukapis's ball. "Not bad Gregory...your Ariados is quite well trained, good job!" Scythe joyfully says to the young boy. "Really? Thanks Scythe!" Gregory says back showing his well-mannered side.

"But this battle is about to get real! Chukapis come on out!" Scythe excitedly says as he sends out his starter. "Hmm a Pikachu huh? Not bad let's see how this turns out" Gregory enthusiastically says back.

"Chukapis go quick attack!" Scythe orderes Chukapis. "Ariados use Constrict to counter the quick attack!" Gregory roars out. As Chukapis runs toward Ariados vines begin to come out of the ground around him. "Chukapis dodge them and keep going!" Scythe says not losing his cool. "Pi Pi Pi Pi Pikaaaa!!!!!" Chukapis cries as the vines wrap it up in the air and hold it still.

"Now Ariados use Night Shade again!" Gregory calls out. "Chukapis use thundershock on the vines and get out of there!" Scythe hollers to Chukapis. "PIKACHU!!" Chukapis's voice rings as it begins to shock the vines below it, destroying them and releasing him. "DOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" Ariados hisses as it appears right in front of the escaped Chukapis and uses night shade. "KAAA...chu.." Chukapis cries once again as it takes the full on Night Shade attack and collapses to the ground.

"Chukapis no!" Scythe cries out as he runs over to Chukapis. "Alright Ariado good job!" Gregory says to his pokemon. "Chukapis are you ok...please get up if you can..." Scythe worriedly asks his wounded friend. "Don't try it Scythe just let it go..?" Gregory begins to say until he sees Chukapis begins to stand up.

"But how!" Gregory blushes as he realizes he may have doubted the will power of Scythe and his pokemon. "Chukapis do you want to keep going? It's up to you buddy." Scythe says as he questions the injured pokemon. "Pi..KA!" Chukapis mutters than yells as it steps in front of Scythe. "Alright let's do it together!" Scythe exclaims.

"Well this is quite the battle and i'm ****ing loving it!" Gregory reluctantly says to Scythe. "I know! But watch your mouth!" Scythe says back with a smile. "Ok Chukapis go in with a quick attack!" Scythe commanded.

"Ariados use Constrict again!" Gregory yelled out to Ariados. "Uh i gotta think of something fast..." Scythe thought to himself as he watched Chukapis slowly dodging the vines. "I got it! Chukapis use your thundershock with your quick attack and just go right through those vines!" Scythe hollered out with his new plan. "HUH!" Gregory wondered as he heard Scythe's plan.

"As Chukapis began picking up speed with it's quick attack, electricity began flowing around him as he used his thundershock continuously with the quick attack, burning throught the vines. "Alright it worked! Now finish it! Knock out Ariados with a Thundershock-Quick attack combo!" Scythe roared out confident in his new battle scheme.

"PIII PI PI PI PIPIPIPI PIKAAAAACHUUUUU!" Chukapis cried as it picked up speed and finaly slammed into Ariados. "DOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!" Ariados hisses as it slammed into by a huge jolt of speed and electricity slamming it into a nearby fence and knocking it out. "Alright Chukapis your awesome!!!!!" Scythe happily cried out as he ran over to his worn out Pikachu and gave it a hug. "Take a good rest were almost to a pokemon center." Scythe told Chukapis as he returned it to it's ball.

"Well I guess you are the better trainer, I mean with the way your pokemon try and never give up...that was amazing." Gregory said as he looked up to Scythe. "Haha thanks kid, but you're quite the trainer to..your Ariados is amazing!" Scythe told the boy.

"Scythe I promise to put a holt on my bad behavior, just like you asked." Gregory said as he reached for the older trainer's hand. "Good!" Scythe said as he Shook the boys hand.

As the two trainers slowly went their opposite ways Gregory yelled back, "Hey Scythe your officially my rival!" Scythe turned around with a smile and answered back, "As you are mine!" And than they were off.
10 minutes later!
"Wow!" Scythe exclaimed with satisfaction and anticipation when he finaly arrived at the entrance of Violet City. "I can't wait for my gym battle! But first I gotta heal Chukapis and Pidgey!" Scythe said putting his priorties first. He than entered Violet City tired, hungry, two tired pokemon, and a slight migrain coming on.

Tim0789: Haha that was really funny! But also a great post and battle! Pikachu grew to lvl 15, pidgey grew to lvl 12! And I wonder whats with the Migrains and Blackouts! Guess will find out!

Chapter 6
Fame, fortune, and Destruction????
Number of posts 2!
As you approach the small town that is Violet City you have all but forgotten about the past events on Route 30-31.. All your focus now is on what lies ahead the first gym battle! You have heard rumors of this gym leader using all Flying types and that he is a wise old man, his name is Falkner and he has been the gym leader in violet for years. But before you rush off to the gym you need to stop off at the pokemon center. As you walk through the front doors of the pokemon center you get the odd feeling and sensation of something being out of place and you look around you real quick but find nothing out of the ordinary. You heal your pokemon and are finally off to the gym (You can option to stop at the pokemart and buy a potion if youd like) As you open the front doors to the pokemon center you look around and see the gym has an oval shaped dome. Finally you see the gym leader sitting in a big comfy chair holding a cane. He is much older now then he used to be, and his once blonde hair is now gray and stands about his neck length. He slowly rises up and taps his cane on the ground as the oval shaped ceiling begins to open up and you can see the clouds above you.

"Well I haven't had a gym challenge in quite a few days bring it on" Falkner says as he calls out his first pokemon:

[PokeCommunity.com] The Johto Leagues Fate

Staravia lvl 14
Moves:
Wing attack, quick attack, double team, tackle
[PokeCommunity.com] The Johto Leagues Fate

Pidgeotto: lvl 18
Moves:
Gust, whirlwind, quick attack, sand attack

After the battle Falkner congratulates you on winning and hands you the Zephyr badge, you then head out of the gym and realize it's starting to get dark again.. and that's when an eerie feeling comes over you… And you decide to sleep at the pokemon center instead of outside to avoid the sleepless nights again. You rent a room for the night and as you lay there thinking about your first gym badge you fall asleep feeling good about everything for once and no longer worrying….

End of first part!

Part 2!

You are awoken by a loud ring on your phone, you check the time to see it is around 3 A.M. Then your see the person calling you is professor Elm and you quickly answer the phone. Unaware of what is going on right outside the pokemon center.
"Are you okay?!?" Elm shouts into the phone. You answer back having no idea what the heck he is talking about till you hear a faint boom outside and a flash of light shines through your phone like an explosion. Without thinking you hang up the phone and make your way outside the pokemon center. You hear people screaming in the streets and then you realize what there screaming at, Sprout tower the long standing building and one of the oldest buildings in Johto has been destroyed as it lay in complete ruin, many people rush over to see if there are any survivors, but before they could get there they are stopped by none other the Falkner who is facing off against four trainers in white cloaks. You then look around and realize all of the other trainers froms Elms lab on your first day are standing right next to you… You have no idea why, but it somehow feels like someone planned it out this way.. As you watch Falkner struggle against the four cloaked trainers you see him turn around to you as if he is telling you to get out of there, and at the last moment his Staravia is defeated and the four cloaked trainers stand there watching as he goes to his knees..

"What are you planning" Falkner screams as a fifth man appears out of nowhere.. only this man is different he is cloaked in black.. But unlike the black cloaked man from your dream this one does not have that same feeling.. He slowly walks up to Falkner…

"Oh were planning something big.. and in order for us to succeed in our plans we must rid this region of it's toughest trainers, and that means the gym leaders" The cloaked man explains as you can barely hear him..

The people of violet city watch in horror also as Falkner gets in one last word…

"Never" He says as the cloaked man summons his Charizard and has him blast burn Falkner… Then cloaked men then disappear and the crowd rushes to where Falkner and the sprout tower once stood so proud… Now all that lay there are ashes and Ruble, suddenly your all approached by cloaked trainers in white and they summon there pokemon..

Cloaked trainers pokemon:
[PokeCommunity.com] The Johto Leagues Fate

Kadabra lvl 16
Moves: Confusion, kensis, teleport
[PokeCommunity.com] The Johto Leagues Fate

Duskull lvl 14
Moves:Astonish, Nightshade, foresight, disable

After you defeat the cloaked trainers you turn to your co pokemon trainers, and just give a look like you have no idea what you have just gotten yourselves into…

Sahib entered the Pokémon Center rather tiredly. Though he was tired, his main objective was to get his very first gym badge. Once I have that in my grasp, Sahib thought tiredly as he handed Nurse Joy his Pokeballs, then I'll sleep a good while. Sahib shifted slightly as he waited. Something was wrong, but no matter how much he sought out the problem he couldn't find it. Finally Nurse Joy smiled and handed him back his Pokeballs. Sahib thanked her and walked out of the Pokémon Center, arm twitching as he did. A quick glance down told him he probably should've bandaged his arm properly. Ah well, he thought as he neared the gym. There was no time for petty things such as that in a moment such as this.

He pushed open the doors and walked in, looking around for the gym leader. Sahib soon found that he didn't have to look far. There in front of him, sitting on a rather comfortable looking chair (oh, how Sahib longed to sit and relax in it himself) was the gym leader Falkner. He looked old and grey now, something Sahib hadn't exactly been expecting. When his parents had talked about Falkner, he had seemed rather…well…Sahib had always pictured him looking much better than he did.

"Well, I haven't had a gym challenge in quite a few days…" Falkner began slowly, without even Sahib stating his purpose. "…Bring it on." With those words, Falkner stood up slowly and tossed a Pokeball. Seconds later, a Staravia flew out and flapped its strong looking wings. "Show me what you've got, young one!" Falkner called over the beat of his Pokémon's wings.

Sahib smirked, liking this gym leader's personality. Then he grabbed Sentret's Pokeball. "Sentret, get ready for battle!" Sahib called. Seconds later, Sentret appeared in a flash of white light, looking like it was ready to take on Staravia. Sahib felt that same thrill go through him, and he shivered. Man…this is…unbelievable! Sahib thought as the blood pounded in his ears. "Shall I give you the first move?" Sahib asked, a tiny grin on his face as he glanced from the battle to Falkner. Falkner laughed, but then his face turned serious. Sahib wasn't going to give him a chance. "Sentret, get in there and use quick attack on the double!" Sahib called.

"Staravia use double team," Falkner stated calmly.

Sahib watched as Staravia suddenly made about ten or so copies of itself. Sentret flew about the field, slamming and falling through each fake. Finally it reached the real one, but before it could attack Falkner was ready. He ordered a wing attack on Sentret. Sentret got thrashed by Staravia's wings, making it seem as though Sentret's attack was worthless. Sahib's teeth snapped together as he wondered what to do next. Falkner paused, looking at the battle. Then a small smile slowly spread its way across his features.

"Staravia, how about we show some mercy? Let's end this quickly," Falkner commanded. "Use quick attack. Show them what it means to truly master the air, along with the speed of the air itself!" Falkner cried, pointing to where Sentret was lying as it struggled to get up. Staravia let out a cry and then flew towards Sentret faster than any Pokémon Sahib had ever seen move at a stage two evolution. Suddenly Staravia was so close, it was almost touching Sentret.

"Move!" Sahib shouted to Sentret. Sentret, just in the nick of time, rolled away. Staravia smacked into the ground, thudding against it and skidding across the floor. Falkner's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Don't give it a chance to recover—quick attack!" Sahib shouted, clenching his fist. He waited silently as Sentret quickly turned around on its tail and slammed into Staravia before it could get up. "Now finish it off with tackle!" Sahib called, pointing this time to where Staravia struggled. Sentret slammed into Staravia, but something happened as a cloud of dust was kicked up. Seconds later, it cleared. Staravia was standing on top of Sentret, pressing it into the ground. "W-what?" Sahib gasped, taking an involuntary step backwards.

"You see," Falkner began, almost pausing the battle to explain. "I had Staravia use wing attack just before you Sentret attacked. It effectively blocked your attack, and also blinded your Pokémon in the process. Rather clever, yes? Now…" Falkner trailed off, through explaining. "Staravia, let's finish this for real. Use quick attack once more!" Falkner shouted.

Staravia cried out and released Sentret suddenly. It flew up in the air as Sentret got up. Then in a terrifying dive, it slammed into Sentret in a rather powerful quick attack. Sahib stared at the match, his fist falling down at his side. No, he thought, waiting for the dust to clear. Please…he bit his lip and set his teeth at the same time. The dust slowly cleared, revealing the shadow of one Pokémon standing atop the other. Sahib's hope slowly faded. He had lost the first battle.

"What?" Falkner stated sharply, causing Sahib to look up.

Lo and behold, there was Sentret. It was standing atop Staravia, panting heavily. It looked up at Sahib and then back at Falkner. Sahib looked at Staravia. The Pokémon was completely knocked out—unable to battle any further than it already had. Sahib stared at the battle in a mixture of wonder, amazement, happiness, and a rush of something he couldn't place. He had just won his first battle against the gym leader. I…I did it, Sahib thought. I can't believe it!

"Well…don't consider yourself terribly lucky. You do not know true power," Falkner stated, recalling his Staravia. "Look at your Sentret—it cannot carry on." Sure enough, Falkner was correct. Seconds later after not having Staravia for some sort of support, Sentret collapsed. It had fainted as well. Sahib recalled Sentret and grabbed Quilava's Pokeball, knowing that this battle was going to determine the match. "This is my true strength. For you shall fear my power now—GO!" Falkner cried, tossing his next and final Pokeball. Sahib watched as a Pidgeotto materialized.

"Ha! We've already battled one of those, haven't we?" Sahib asked the Pokeball. He tossed it, "Let's go Quilava, battle mode!" he shouted. "Open with your flames! Give it ember!" Sahib called, not wanting to waste any time in this battle. He wanted it over and he wanted a secured victory as fast as he could get.

"Pidgeotto, dodge it." The words had barely escaped Falkner's words when Pidgeotto carefully evaded the dangerous flames. Sahib's eyebrows shot up as he clenched his teeth again. "Now, use sand attack to destroy those flames," Falkner called up to his Pidgeotto calmly. Not needing another word of order, Pidgeotto flew down towards the stadium and scratched up a rather large amount of sand before flinging it into Quilava's face and across his back and head.

"Crap," Sahib cursed, trying to figure out what to do next. "Quilava, throw down a smokescreen!" Sahib shouted, forgetting one key factor about a Pidgeotto. Quilava spewed out the smoke, effectively hiding from Pidgeotto.

"Pidgeotto, blow those pathetic fumes away," Falkner called. "Show the Quilava your true strength. Give it a gust attack!"

Pidgeotto kicked up a strong gust. Quilava turned its head; eyes snapped shut because of the sand. The gust blew over Quilava, even picking him up. Sahib watched in horror as his Quilava was flung against the gym wall. Falkner chuckled as the wind slowly died down. Pidgeotto flapped its wings and cried out, simply hovering in the middle of the gym. Sahib looked at Quilava, seeing the flames extinguished on its back. If only we knew some electric move or something, Sahib thought, staring at Quilava.

"Quilava…" Sahib slowly began, unsure of what to do.

"Lava! Quilava!" Quilava cried confidently, pushing itself up. Sahib blinked and stared a bit more, before nodding slowly. The look of confidence was once more upon his features.

"Let's go! Smokescreen! Follow up with a quick attack!" Sahib shouted, formulating a plan. He knew how to win this if he played things out properly. Quilava blew up another thick screen of smoke. Falkner laughed, thinking it was the same thing again. Before he could order Pidgeotto to blow it away, there was a cry from the Pokémon and a heavy thudding sound. "Now use ember!" Sahib shouted, knowing that Quilava had found its mark. Amidst the thick smoke, Sahib could see that Quilava unleashed a strong fire attack, burning Pidgeotto straight into the ground.

"Double team, and hurry!" Falkner shouted.

The smoke slowly cleared, and was replaced by a new image. Several Pidgeotto were flying around Sahib, each of them having a rather nasty looking burn on their wings. Falkner clenched his teeth at this. Quilava was standing in the middle of the Pidgeotto, glancing around at all of them. Sahib let out a breath, keeping his cool as he closed his eyes. Suddenly he had an idea, and he knew how to make it work.

"Finish it, Quilava. Roll into a ball, spin, and use ember!" Sahib shouted, figuring that Quilava wouldn't get burned by its own flame. Quilava leaped up into the air and unleashed an ember attack. Falkner stared at the field, looking in wonder at this new event. Then Quilava twirled as it came down, not quite forming into a ball but doing exactly what Sahib hoped. Quilava was winning the match. The attack hit each and every one of the Pidgeotto in rapid succession. Soon, it was over. Pidgeotto fell to the floor, looking slightly burned with ruffled feathers.

Falkner silently recalled his Pokémon. He looked at Sahib and then walked towards him slowly. Sahib recalled Quilava, silently staring at the gym leader. "You've done well," Falkner stated softly. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small badge. "This is your reward. Congratulations with your first official badge of Johto."

Just minutes later, Sahib was waiting on his Pokémon to be healed so he could go to his room and sleep. Finally they were done, so Sahib picked up his Pokeballs and fell onto his bed in a heap. He silently unleashed his Pokémon, allowing them to curl up on the bed as well. Quilava nestled next to his side while Sentret curled up on his pillow. With a smile on his face, Sahib fell asleep. Now if only I can get like ten hours…he thought tiredly.

Fenris: Awesome Gym battle!! Quilava grew to lvl 17! Sentret grew to lvl 12! Sahib recieved the Zephyr badge! Now post part 2!

Sahib mumbled and rolled over, blissfully asleep once more. He had slept about seven hours so far, but he still wanted more sleep. Which was, obviously, why Sahib was still asleep. Before he could get too far into his dream, however, a shrill sound broke the silence of his room. Sahib growled, eyes narrowing at the phone he had set on the desk next to his bed. Quilava and Sentret looked up tiredly. Sahib picked up his phone and looked at the flashing name. Professor Elm? He wondered.

"Hello?" Sahib asked, soon realizing his voice was laced with sleep and grogginess. Sahib quickly cleared his throat.

"Are you alright?!" Elm shouted, without even bothering to say hello in return.

Sahib groaned and held the phone away from his ear at the loudness of Elm's voice. He yawned and replied, "What are you talking about? Of course I'm alri—" Suddenly a rather faint boom outside made Sahib stop midsentence. He saw a flash of light shine from the window in an explosion way. Sahib snapped the phone shut without thinking and ran outside. Sentret leaped up on Sahib's shoulders in the process. Quilava followed, jogging behind his trainer.

It was complete and utter chaos. People were running about screaming like chickens without heads. Sahib frowned and then looked around. Then, he noticed it. Sprout Tower, one of the oldest buildings in Johto, was completely in ruin. Sahib stared, his mouth slightly agape. Several people were running towards the building. Sahib followed, assuming that they were going to check for survivors. Before everyone got there, however, they were all stopped. Falkner! Sahib thought, eyeing the gym leader who was facing off against four trainers. They each had white cloaks on.

That's when Sahib looked around. The trainers he had battled with before were once again standing next to him. Everyone else is here too, Sahib thought. It was almost like the day in the lab once more, but obviously it was also different. Sahib shuddered, feeling like someone had completely planned this out.

Sahib stared as Falkner struggled long and hard against the trainers. Falkner glanced at them all over his shoulder. Then he did a slight double take before turning around. He opened his mouth, but before he could his Staravia let out a pained cry as it fell. Staravia had been defeated. The trainers watched silently as Falkner fell to his knees. Sahib's eyes went wide and he clenched his fists, glaring at the trainers.

"Ngh…" Falkner clenched his teeth and looked up. "What…what are you planning?!" he screamed at the men. Suddenly a fifth man appeared out of no where. Unlike the rest, he was wearing a black cloak. Sahib suddenly had an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. He watched, along with the others, as the man slowly approached Falkner.

"Oh, we're just planning something big. In order for us to succeed, however…" the man trained off rather quietly. "We must rid this region of its toughest trainers…thus, meaning the gym leaders." The cloaked man was rather quiet throughout the whole speech, so Sahib was straining to hear. He wondered vaguely if he would have been able to, had it not been for the fact that his father was a quiet talker himself. Sahib shivered as the man almost reminded him of his father. Everyone was frozen in complete and utter terror, watching in horror.

The famed gym leader said one word, "Never."

Suddenly the cloaked man summoned a Charizard. Sahib's eyes went wide with understanding. He began to move forward, almost like he was a puppet and someone was pulling his strings. He vaguely heard Sentret in his ear, but suddenly he was knocked back with the force of Quilava's tackle. An attack was shouted, and then fire engulfed the famed leader of Violet City. The cloaked man disappeared as the crowd rushed to where Falkner and the tower had once stood. All was left were ashes and rubble. Sahib stayed on the ground, but finally managed to slowly get up and go to where the others were standing.

The cloaked trainers in white appeared rather suddenly once more. They all produced one Pokémon each, for now. Where the black-cloaked man once stood, there was now a Duskull. Sahib glanced at Sentret, feeling some form of twisted blackened rage swell up in his heart.

"Sentret, go and use foresight," Sahib called, his voice a gruff growl. Sentret was glaring at the man all the while it leaped off of Sahib's shoulder and scanned over Duskull, working up a foresight that would allow it to attack. Sahib stayed silent as Sentret rushed in without order, slamming against Duskull in a quick attack. He stared at the battle hungrily, eyes full of hate. Sahib shuddered again, teeth clamping together like a vice as a growl ripped through him. Crap! What the hell is going on with me?! He wondered as he attempted to suppress the feeling.

In the battle, Sentret was continuously pelting Duskull with quick attacks. Suddenly the man called a "disable" and then Sentret couldn't attack. It looked about in confusion, not quite understanding what had just transpired. Sahib knew though.

"Sentret, you can't use that attack anymore," Sahib called. "Go for tackle!" Sahib shouted, pointing at the hovering Duskull and finally snapping out of his hate-filled trance.

Sentret leapt up and slammed into Duskull, hitting it and making a nice mark. Duskull cried out, but suddenly its eyes began to glow. It disappeared, then reappeared behind Sentret and quickly surprising it in a shocking astonish attack. Sentret shuddered, clearly wincing. Duskull then glowed a purple color as a famed nightshade attack was unleashed. Sahib knew that Duskull had used its own foresight attack, allowing it to hit Sentret.

"Sentret, snap out of it!" Sahib called, knowing that nightshade could be a nasty attack. "Hit it with a tackle attack!" Sahib urged. Sentret finally snapped out of the astonish attack, but was pelted by the nightshade. Finally Sentret was free to attack. It smacked into Duskull again. The guy with the white cloak stayed silent, save for ordering around Duskull. "Sentret, finish it with quick attack!" Sahib shouted, knowing that Sentret wouldn't be disabled anymore. The Duskull gave a ghostly cry as Sahib's Sentret slammed into it in a final attack, fainting it rather quickly.

Sahib panted heavily, staring at the Duskull. It fell to the ground, but the guy in the cloak quickly recalled it and brought out another Pokémon. Sahib stared listlessly, feeling himself go numb. A Kadabra was revealed, once more reminding Sahib of his father. Alakazam…Sahib thought, thinking of his father's strongest Pokémon. He knew that Kadabra was nothing to mess with. Quilava growled angrily at Sahib's side, glaring at the Kadabra.

"Open with quick attack, Sentret!" Sahib shouted. Sentret flew at the Kadabra, intent on making the first move. The guy had other plans, however. Kadabra suddenly teleported away and reappeared directly behind Sentret. The man ordered a confusion attack. Sahib's eyes widened as Sentret was picked up and flung around like a play thing. "Sentret…" Sahib growled.

The attack was over as quickly as it had began. Sentret was slammed against the ground, falling limp. It tiredly pushed itself up, panting and looking at Kadabra through a wounded expression. Sahib stared at his brave little Pokémon, and then tried to think of a plan.

Alakazam are only as strong as their trainers, Sahib recalled, remembering what his father had told him. If they have a strong mind, the Alakazam will be nearly unstoppable. However, a feeble mind…Sahib's eyes opened and he looked at the man, attempting to figure it out. He didn't seem to be much more than a grunt—and that meant, he didn't have a very strong mind. Sahib let out a breath, shook himself, and then focused once more onto the battle.

"Alright Sentret, first you've gotta calm down," Sahib stated to his Pokémon. Sentret glanced back at Sahib, but then finally nodded slowly. "Good. Now…go for another quick attack. Make it speedy!" Sahib called, rushing his words. Sentret nodded, quickly understanding him. It zoomed and zigzagged about, hopefully confusing Kadabra. Kadabra looked around, unable to keep up with Sentret's movements. Suddenly Sentret leapt up—using its tail as a spring—and slammed into Kadabra's face, hitting it dead on. Sahib grinned widely, smirking over at the guy. He growled, fists clenching at his sides.

"Kadabra…confusion." The order was almost as scary as the voice itself. Sahib's smug expression slowly left his face as the Kadabra got up. The attack worked once more, allowing Kadabra to take control of Sahib's Sentret. It slammed the Sentret against the hard ground repeatedly. Sahib saw Sentret's strength fade away, until he almost felt the Pokémon faint. He grabbed Senret's Pokeball and recalled his Pokémon before further damage could come to it. "Heh…figuring out how to play with the big boys, huh?" the man asked.

"Funny," Sahib began, nodding to Quilava. "But I thought that, considering I'm taller than you, I was already playing," Sahib spat back angrily. "Quilava, smokescreen," Sahib said calmly.

Quilava quickly produced a nice, thick smokescreen. Sahib could see the man's bright coat across from him, but the two Pokémon were blanketed by the darkness of night and the smokescreen. Sahib waited, hoping that Quilava would know what to do next. Suddenly there was a bright flash of orange. Quilava unleashed an ember straight for Kadabra, hitting the Pokémon square on. Sahib grinned widely, but as the smoke cleared he wiped the grin off his face.

"Kadabra, use teleport," the man stated. Kadabra suddenly teleported out of the way of the attack, leaving the flame to simply it the air behind the man. Quilava looked around, waiting for the Kadabra to reappear. Kadabra suddenly reappeared behind Quilava, using the same tactic as with Sentret. "Now Kadabra, use—"

"Quilava!" Sahib shouted. Quilava whipped around, recognizing the trick. It slammed into Kadabra with a tackle. Then it leaped away and sent a mouthful of flames directly for Kadabra's chest. They slammed against the Pokémon, smacking it backwards behind Sahib. Then, it was suddenly over. The man recalled his Pokémon, along with the others. They vanished mysteriously. Sahib glanced around, looking at the confused faces of his fellow trainers. He felt just as confused, wondering what exactly was to happen next.

When Liliana entered the Pokémon Center she suddenly felt like something was off. Something was not the way it was supposed to be. But after she looked around for a bit she didn't find anything strange in sight, so she dismissed it. Nurse Joy healed her Pokémon without a question while Lili herself found something to eat. She ended up eating in an Italian restaurant, but while she ate she kept glancing on the Dome that rose over all the houses. The Dome of the gym leader. She knew for a fact that he was a Flying type trainer, and so Nala would have a hard time with it. Djali was still very young and didn't know any electric moves yet, but at least he wasn't as susceptible to the attacks. She was confident though, they would pull this off. No matter what. And she was eager to push her new Bayleaf to see how much stronger Nala had become.

After a nice dinner of Lasagna she returned to the Center to find her Pokémon all ready for the battle to come. She half ran toward the dome in anticipation. What she found there was not what she expected. She had expected a young and strong trainer, maybe even cute. But the leader was old, with a cane resting next to a comfortable chair. He rose at the sight of her and politely asked what she was doing there, but a knowing smile crept across his face.

"Ehm, I'm here to challenge you… Sir?" Liliana stumbled over her words a bit, not entirely sure how she should address him, but Falkner just smiled.

"Well I haven't had a Gym challenge in quite a few days so consider yourself accepted," he tapped the floor with his cane and the ceiling above her opened to reveal the sunny blue sky up above. Liliana couldn't help but gasp at the sight of it. He wasn't called the Flying master of Johto for nothing. She smiled to herself and took her place across the arena. There was a small rectangle outlined with white for her to stand in which overlooked the field. Falkner seemed to rely a bit on his cane, but he was still quite energetic for an old man and he quickly took his place opposite her and released his first Pokémon, a Staravia.

"Ladies first," he said kindly. Liliana responded by releasing Nala, a risky decision she had made. She hoped to damage his Pokémon as much as possible before hoping Djali was strong enough to finish it for her.

"Nala, use Razor Leaf!" Nala got the first hit down. Even though grass wasn't supposed to be too affective against Flying types, it did considerable damage. The Staravia flew up where Nala wouldn't be able to hit it with anything. "Staravia let's start small, shall we? Use tackle!" The Staravia suddenly pulled into a dive toward Nala.

"Nala, don't let him hit you, dodge and then tackle!" just before Staravia hit the ground in front of Nala It pulled up to fly toward the grass type. Nala jumped out of the way well before being hit and followed Staravia to deliver a hit of her own. But before she had even come close to the Pokémon it had already pulled up where Nala couldn't reach it. It was circling now, like a bird of prey when it had spotted a meal.

"Staravia, tackle again!" Falkner's voice was very calm and confident. Liliana imagined him having done this same thing thousands of times before. Once again the bird pulled into a dive, but Liliana repeated her instructions too. Nala dodged and tried to follow up with a tackle, but Staravia was too quick and was once again in the air. All Nala could do was watch it as it circled around her slowly, waiting for its master's command.

"Well this is just not going to go anywhere, is it? I guess we'll have to switch it up a little. Staravia use double team!" Liliana watched as the bird duplicated itself into 10 copies. These copies all continued circling Nala, which made her act very nervously. She would try sending a Razor Leaf if she thought it would work, but they were just too high up.

"Okay Staravia, come down one by one into a tackle!" The first Staravia pulled into a dive, and Nala dodged it. Then came the second one which was once again dodged right before the replica hit the ground and dissappeared. Then the third and fourth came at the same time. Nala was fast though and dodged the set and the next set. Then the seventh and eighth came down together and the seventh dove straight through Nala before disappearing. More dodging and not knowing of the next was going to be a Replica. When all of them had come down only one remained, and Falkner repeated it. Once more there were 10 Staravias.

Liliana started to pay attention to them. Which ones looked more substantial than the others. "There, Nala , hit that one!" But it was a replica and Nala busted right through him. Again she thought the next one looked more real than the others, but it was still a fake. Once again the last one remaining was the true one. And once again they multiplied. But Staravia was going to have to come down to do damage some time. He couldn't stay there forever. This time Liliana concentrated on the Staravia when it multiplied. She kept her eyes on the real one while fake after fake came through.

"Nala, don't dodge, they won't hurt you. Just but your entire mass into a tackle when I tell you to." Up to now Nala had been careful with her tackles, because if it was a fake and she put too much strength to it, she would have smacked against the ground. For a whole series of fakes Staravia stayed into the air. Then, the second last one, Liliana recognized it to be the bird she had been following. "Nala, NOW!"

Nala jumped aside and threw her weight into a sideway tackle. If it had been a fake she would have landed onto the ground, but it wasn't and instead she ended up on top of the Staravia, pinning it to the ground. The Staravia struggled to get our underneath it, and when it did its wing was a little bit twisted. It's flight was a lot less precise and a lot less effortless. It seemed to be in pain. This time Falkner decided to get to the end of it.

"Staravia, use Wing Attack!"

"Nala dodge and tackle!" The Staravia pulled into an unsteady dive, its left wing (The good one) glowed white as he came toward Nala. But Nala was still on top of her game and dodged it with easy. This time she didn't run after Staravia, but she jumped aside and continued running beside it. Just as it flew up again Nala hit it in the side with her neck and it crashed into the ground. This was the end of the match for Staravia.

Falkner recalled her very calmly, as if he had foreseen this all along. "Your time Pidgeotto, use Gust!" The second it emerged from its Ball it started flapping its wings, creating a strong gust of wind. Nala had no defense as It lifted her off the ground and smacked her into the wall behind Liliana. She gasped, but the Nala came up shakily. She looked like she had had a good beating, and she was breathing heavily. But just as Nala was, it wasn't over until the fat lady sang.

The Pidgeotto was already flying in the air. If Falkner wanted he could have made this an easy battle. If he would only summon powerful gust from the sky the Pidgeotto would be untouchable. But this was not Falkner's style.

"Pidgeotto, use Quick Attack!"

"Nala, poison it now!" Pidgeotto dove toward Nala in a fast speed, but Nala spread out her powder everywhere. The Pidgeotto had to stop in its dive to use a gust attack. With this attack he blew away all the poison in the air, and Nala with it. She ended up slamming into the ground and had the most trouble getting up. Through the clouds the sun was creating a patches of light on the ground, however.

"Nala, get in the sun, quickly!" Nala understood and ran toward the nearest patch, but Falkner wasn't stupid. "Pidgeotto, Quick Attack again, don't let her get into the sun!" The Pidgeotto came toward Nala with speed, but she dodged most of the attack. The birds beak ended up grazing her side, but she ran determinedly and reached the patch of sun. As soon as she stepped into it she used a Synthesis. Her buds and her leaf lit up in a golden light. She closed her eyes in delight as her wounds healed and her energy restored. True, she wasn't as good as new, but she was a lot better than she was a moment ago.

But the time she had spent healing up had made her vulnerable to the Quick Attack that hit her from behind. She flinched painfully. Liliana knew she had to do something. The poison powder wouldn't work, because Pidgeotto would only blow the powder away. She had to make sure there was no more getting away. Unfortunately, Falkner wasn't really considering that she needed time to think and Pidgeotto was already flying toward Nala in great speed. That's when it dawned upon Liliana that this might actually be fortunate. Maybe she ought to sacrifice Nala to make a victory possible.

"Nala, whatever you do, don't dodge this attack, wait for it!" there wasn't a lot of time to wait, the bird was fast and it was coming toward Nala rapidly. "Now, poison powder Nala!" within second the powder was released all around Nala, and just as Pidgeotto hit her square on, it breathed in the poisin and found itself badly poisoned. But Nala had to pay the price for it. She was badly weakened and the sun had disappeared behind the clouds.

"Pidgeotto, finish it with a Whirlwind!" This was it. Pidgeotto whipped up a small tornado in the arena, but it lifted Nala off her feet She struggled but there was no getting away. Suddenly the Whirlwind stopped and Nala dropped down several feet to the ground and fainted.

"Come back and rest Nala. Finish this Djali!" Djali came out with a triumphant cry, but as soon as she saw Pidgeotto she became her nervous self again. No matter how intimidating Pidgeotto looked, it was still badly poisoned. It seemed to be in pain while the poison ate away at its health.

"Pidgeotto, hold on and use Quick Attack!" at the same time Liliana called out to Djali. "The only thing you need to do, Djali, is hold on until Pidgeotto perishes from the potion. Use your speed and endurance to dodge the attacks!" Pidgeotto swooped down on Djali, but the poison made it a little bit off, and Djali successfully dodged it. But the Pidgeotto just turned around and advanced again. Djali still dodged, but she wasn't used to fighting Pokémon with such speed. Her reaction was getting slower. Meanwhile Pidgeotto once again turned around effortlessly and attacked Djali, this time hitting her on the spot.

Djali wasn't at all equipped against a hit of such a strong Pokémon. She was hopelessly overpowered and all the hope of a victory lay in the poison coursing through Pidgeotto's veins, or one successful hit. "Djali, scratch that! Try to get a hit in, just one hit is all you need!" The Shinx prepared himself as Pidgeotto came down again. He had a little glisten in his eyes that could only be identified as an idea as he puffed himself out. He made himself as big as possible, and put his head high. Pidgeotto, who was aiming its beak at Djali's head, flew a few inches above the ground toward its target. But just before it would hit with extreme speed Djali pushed herself as low as she possibly could and the as the Pisgeotto swooped over her, slowed down in surprise, she jumped up and hit it in the belly. The Pidgeotto collapsed from the hit, it had been the last drop.

That was it. Falkner recalled his Pokémon and came toward her, hand outstretched. He laughed heartily as he shook her hand and, to her surprise, left a shiny badge there.
"Congratulations on your victory Liliana, you completely deserved it. Now go sleep somewhere, you looks like the living dead. He laughed again as he retreated from a door behind his chair. Liliana called Djali back into her ball as she walked back to the Center in a daze. She couldn't believe it, she had own. She had actually won! But her victorious feeling didn't last long. Suddenly she got the creeps again. Something felt wrong. Something felt very, very wrong.

She asked Joy to heal her Pokémon as she got settled in her room. She went to retreave them fully healed again and climbed into the bed, but the feeling of wrongness lingered somehow. She pushed it to the back of her brain though, as she pulled the blankets over her snuggly. Nala was laying on a little pillow on the ground, and Djali had made herself comfortable on the foot of her bed. Liliana fell into a dream about her victory, and others to come. Any worry about her previous dream and the strange feelings disappeared as she dreamed of owning a great Charizard and holding the power in her hand…

Damion now stood in the Pokemon Center, waiting for the nurse to finish healing hils pokemon.

Ding!

Damion's ears perked at the sound of the ER room opening, he smiled as he saw Nurse Joy holding a tray with two pokeballs.

"Here you go, Damion. Your pokemon are fully healed." Damion grinned and thanked the nurse.

Once the trainer took part in a light meal consisting of a sandwhich and fruit, he departed for the large, indigo building with the pokeball symbol on the door and front, a.k.a., Violet Gym. Pillars with pokeballs lined the path to the sliding glass doors, and a white sign before the building read:

VIOLET CITY GYM

Leader: Falkner, THE SKY MASTER!

Damion looked at the sign interestedly as Taro and Hoot walked up behind him.

"He sure is full of himself." Damion muttered, his pokemon nodded.

Damion sighed as he lead the party inside, but not before quickly turning to his pokemon.

"Remember guys, this man's pokemon are really strong. So try your best to use ALL of your abilities to their fullest. If you see an opportunity to strike, even if I don't command it, take the opportunity." His pokemon nodded, then jumped slightly as the dark gym's lights flashed on in a sudden burst of electricity.

The Gym's walls were indigo and made of steel, cold and lifeless. The room was a large, domed one, and several doors in the corners of it told that perhaps there was a training area back there, or maybe more rooms. In the center of the large room stood a rectangle outlined in white, two boxes at both ends, and a circle in the center. On the wall opposite the door, about twenty feet up, was a large scoreboard of some kind, with two big boxes at the top and three smaller boxes below each large one.

Two more of the pillars with pokeballs on them stood on either side of Damion, engraved upon it were all the names of the trainers that had beat the gym before, Damion's eyes widened as he spotted his grandfather's name on the long list.

Beside these pillars stood a man with swirly glasses. The man had dark hair, and was decidedly young. He waved at the trainer happily and trotted over.

"Hey there trainer, here to challenge the gym?"

"Yup." Damion nodded, still awed by the size of the gym and not entirely taking notice of who was talking…

"Well then, I've got some advice for ya. He uses flying types, so strike with electric-"

"And rock." Damion interrupted.

"Eh?" the man seemed puzzled.

"Flying is weak to three types. Electric, Rock, and Ice." The boy said slowly, folding his arms across his chest.

"Ah! Well, yes of course. Who might you be then?" The man regained composure and shook Damion's hand heartily.

"Damion Sugimori. Not nice to meet you." Damion detested people who seemed to be immature. Especially someone who was well over twenty.

"Oh, dear me, a cold one. Darn, I guess it can't be helped. Well then, pleasure to see you all. You can call me the Random Gym Guy."

Damion choked. "Don't you have a name?"

"I do, but I keep it secret for security purposes. You see I USUALLY give out EXCELLENT advice, but sometimes I don't and I would get mobbed if not for my mad disguise skills. You'll see me traveling around, doing good deeds from time to time, earning fan girls, you know, regular hero stuff."

"Yeah, right then, deluded old fool. Got it." Damion snorted, then walked toward the middle of the Gym, stopping at the white line that dictated the fighting arena.

He looked up, his vision in between his orange spikes. An old, hunched man in a large red chair stared back at him.

"Hehe. Well hello," The man chuckled as he quickly pressed a button which was on the arm of his large chair. The roof of the dome quickly detached at the center, steam coming from the mechanisms that kept it together. Soon the gym was completely roofless, the nice white clouds in the sky.

"I haven't had a challenger in a few days. I've been bored, let's make this fast." The old man quickly said. The boy smirked,

"Oh don't worry. Your defeat will be quick." The man chuckled as he stepped down from the chair and stopped at the opposite end of the battle arena.

"My name is Falkner, who might you be."

"I'm Damion. Damion Sugimori." The boy pointed at himself as he lowered his earphones. The elderly man's eyes widened at the sound of the last name, the pose the boy just did almost identical to that of one of his previous challengers.

"I choose you, Staravia!"

"Go, Hoot!"

A large blanket of light smoke filled the center of the arena, a black and white bird flew out from the smoke and cried out as Hoot hopped out from the smoke.

~Starling Pokemon~
~It flies around forests and fields in search of bug Pokemon. It stays within a huge flock.~

"Quick Attack!"

"Stop him with Hypnosis!"

The Staravia quickly rocketed towards the owl pokemon, a trail of white energy trailing behind him. Hoot quickly stared the bird down, a large blue ring eminating from his large red eyes. The ring surrounded the Starvia, quickly enducing Sleep.

The bird pokemon quickly fell to the floor with a thud, sliding right in front of the owl pokemon.

"Oh man."

"Peck it's brains out."

The boy said cooly, Falkner trying to iminate Damion's cool composure. The owl pokemon proceeded to stab the Staravia with its razor sharp beak. Leaving wouds all over its body,

"Staravia! Get up!"

"Tackle Attack."

Hoot quickly launched its body at the sleeping bird, causing the bird to be flung backwards a few feet. Staravia's eyes lazily opened up, as it quickly realized the situation and shot up.

"Peck attack!"

"Double Team!"

Hoot's peck attack went straight through one of the bird pokemon's clones. The owl pokemon landed on the floor and looked up at the long line of identical Staravia images.

"That won't fool us! Foresight!!"

Damion shouted as he pointed at the sky. Hoot shot two large red beams from its eyes and scanned the entire line, the clones quickly evaporating until he finally reached the real Staravia.

"Tackle!" The boy pointed at the Staravia, which received a full on Tackle attack. The bird fell to the floor from high up. Falkner quickly recalling his fallen comrad, Damion quickly doing the same.

"As have I, Taro!!"

~Bird Pokemon~
~It flies over its wide territory in search of prey, downing it with its highly developed claws.~

From Falkner's side of the arena, came a large menacing bird with long red hair and a terrible glare. From Damion's came out his favorite Larvitar, Taro.

"Ha! A Rock Type, nice thinking."

"Yup, and he just recently learned a new attack. Rock SLIDE!!"

This sudden order shocked the old man, the tiny Larvitar raised its arms in the air. The horn on its head glowed a magnificent champion white. The floor behind him, and directly in front of Damion, fissured and was brought into the air.

The large boulder was hurled at the Pidgeotto, who tried to escape. Despite its speed, it was unable to dodge the powerful attack and was launched back into the man's chair.

"Pidgeotto! Are you alright my friend?" The bird pokemon nodded and flew back into the arena,

"You asked for it! Whirlwind!!" The Pidgeotto whiped up a twister with its wings, the powerful stream of compressed wind knocked Taro off of his feet. Before he knew it, his entire body was completely above the gym. In the sky,

"Ha! This is my domain, Wing Attack!!" He ordered the bird, which quickly obeyed and flew to the sky. Falkner quietly smirked at Damion, who in turne scowled and looked up into the sky.

"Taro Screech!!"

"What?"

Falkner was taken aback as the rock type opened its gaping mouth to produce a multitude of sound waves. The bird pokemon was struck by the onslought of sound waves, the bird pokemon's body was slightly weakened and shocked. The bird pokemon was now being twisted and turned, same as Taro was.

"Quickly. Bite Attack!"

"Pidgeotto, Quick Attack!"

From the harsh winds, the bird pokemon quickly launched its wing span back to allow it to rocket towards the rock pokemon. Taro quickly opened its mouth to take a huge bite of Pidgeotto's right wing. As the entered the arena, a large sand storm quickly whipped up.

Damion was pleasantly shocked, "He rememberd what I said..."

The bird pokemon's body was being whipped around by the harsh sand, and being damaged by Taro's harsh Bite attack. They made a large impact on the gym floor, a Pidgeotto lay defeated. Swirls in his eyes, the trainer called it back. Besides the called back Pidgeotto was a small green pokemon, out of breath and tired.

"W-We did it." Damion was relieved and quickly dashed over to Taro, "Good job buddy." Taro smiled and gave a thumbs up, a trickle of blood ran down from his mouth.

Damion quickly called back his little trooper and looked up at the man, who simply smirked.

"Well done trainer, you would have made your grandfather proud." Volkner smirked as he pinned the Zephyr Badge on the front of the single strap of Damion's bag.

"Yeah, thanks. I saw his name on the pillar over there." Damion smirked as he looked down at his chest and adjusted the badge.

"Yes, he was a very hyperactive fellow. You don't seem much like him. Haha! But I guess things change over generations. Well anyways, if you ever need anything. Feel free to contact me." The man held up his own PokeGear; but unlike Damion's red one, his was a nice shade of dark blue.

"I'll be sure to do that, hah. But I'm pretty sure you're gonna contact me for help, I am the better trainer of course..." The boy chuckled as the old man proceeded to whack Damion with his cane. The boy massaged his new bruise as he exited.
___________________________
Damion let out a large breath. Inhaling the nice, cool night air. He looked down at his glimmering Zephyr Badge, the first sign that he was on the right path.

His eyes shot open and shifted around,

'Somethings not right...' Damion's thoughts trailed off as he walked down the path towards the Pokemon Center.

He soon reached the cozy center, the night tune that filled the room soothed Damion's mind. He proceded to walk over to Nurse Joy,

"Oh, Damion! Back already I see, ohmigod! You won Falkner!!" The nurse gasped, causing almost half of the center to bombarde Damion with high fives and hugs. The boy stealthily slinked away from the crowd by crawling on the floor, he quickly made his way over to the nurse and whispered,

"Can you heal my pokemon and rent me a room?" The boy whispered softly, the nurse complied and rushed over to the machine. As she put the pokeball inside the machine she grabbed a key and grabbed Damion's money that he handed her.

"Okay, your room's right down this hall. Have a good sleep." She smiled, Damion chuckled as he grabbed his pokeballs and ran for his room.

He quickly fell on his bed, as his pokemon were released. Hoot and Taro jumped next to their trainer and they all fell asleep...

Kenneth made his way to the Pokemon Center with a purpose. His thoughts were only on the Gym and the battle soon to come. He grinned at the thought of winning his first badge and decided that the first thing he would do once he was got it was to call his parents. He remembered his dad talking about when he was a trainer traveling around Johto.

His dad had told him that the Gym Leader, Falkner, used only Flying types when he battle him around 30 years ago, but he didn't know if that was still the case. But Kenneth kept that in mind as he thought of a strategy to beat the Leader with.

The doors to the Center quickly slid open and Kenneth made his way in. He stopped for a second, taking a curious look around the lobby. Though everything looked to be normal, Kenneth somehow got the odd feeling of something being out of place. He shrugged it off, heading to the counter and getting his pokemon healed. While she was healing his pokemon Kenneth started to work on a way to fight flying types.

A small chimed caused him to glance up and see that his pokemon were ready. He thanked Nurse Joy who, liked all the rest of her relatives, thanked him back and told him to come back later.

Now with his pokemon healed and left the Center and headed off to the Pokemart. He needed to get a potion, just in case something went wrong in the battle. Along the way he passed by the gym. It was the second largest building in the town and was domed shape, making it stand out among all the other buildings.

Next door to the gym was the Pokemart. Kenneth wasted no time going inside and buying a bottle of potion. The man thanked him for his business and Kenneth gave him a wave as he quickly left.

Outside he felt the pokemon on his right hip shake a bit. He picked it up and glance into it to see Lily trying to escape. Seeing him she looked up, mouth pouted. He laughed scratching the back of his head with his free hand.

"Sorry, but you're going to have to stay in there until the battle." She responded by slapping her tail against the wall of the ball. "Oh please don't be like that. I don't want Falkner to know what kind of pokemon I have. If he does he might be able to plan the battle in his favor, so just bear with me, okay?" Lily lowered her head and defeat.

"Thanks!" Kenneth clipped the ball back onto his belt, now standing at the front door to the gym. He took a deep breath and took a step towards the doors. They slid to the side, giving a partial view of the inside. Once through the doors he knew there was no turning back. Now it was his time to a gym leader, one of the toughest trainers to ever live.

Across the room he saw an old man sitting in a large comfy chair. The old man smiled, brushing a hand through his hair, gray with age. He stood up, maintaining his balance with a cane in his left hand. He tapped the ground with it and oval ceiling opened up, lighting the gym. The battlefield was pretty normal. It was a path of land right in the middle of the gym officially marked. To Kenneth it meant one thing: there was nowhere to hide.

"Well I haven't had a gym challenge in quite a few days bring it on!" Falkner called with a smile, bring out his first pokemon.

"Staravia!" The gray-white bird called out. It spread it wings and took to the skies, happily soaring around. Kenneth thumbed his nose and reached to grab a pokeball from his belt. "Alright, let's have some fun!" He tossed the ball into the air. "Let's go Miles!" A light erupted from the pokeball and crashed into the ground. Once it cleared, Miles stood pawing the ground beneath him.

"Ready?" Miles barked and set his feet, keeping eye contact with the bird above. He started to glow. Falkner smiled, holding his cane with both hands. "Going with an electric type I see. I'll have you know, my bird pokemon don't give easily to lightning."

"We won't need to use them. We'll take you down with regular attacks! Miles, Leer!" It was a bluff. Kenneth knew that Miles didn't even know electric moves yet, unless he counted charge, but as of now that was only useful for raising Miles' defense.

"Double Team." Just before Miles could make eye contact Staravia glowed and many copies of it appeared. Miles glanced from one to another, confused.

"Try and find the real one and then hit it with tackle!" Miles barked again and charged the copies. One after one he pounced, only to fall through and crash into the ground. Falkner frowned a bit.

"Quick attack!" Of the three copies left the one nearest to Miles flapped its wings and dove towards him at such an amazing speed that it left a white trail behind it. Kenneth called out and Miles spun around, getting hit head on with the attack. He slid back a bit but was back on his feet after a few seconds.

"Charge!" He purred as his body lit up causing small sparks of lightning to crackle around him. Then he charged towards the Staravia.

"Speed at him with Quick attack!"

"Star!" Staravia rocketed off again. The two raced at each other with great speed was it was easy to tell that Staravia was faster. As they got closer, it fluttered its wings knocking up dust and covering both pokemon from sight.

"Miles get out of there!" Kenneth was too late as his pokemon was already flying through air from a wing attack. He sighed in relief as Miles landed on his feet but the battle wasn't over yet. Miles charged again but missed as Staravia took to the skies. 'This is our first time fighting a flying type and it's just as hard as I expected. He's using double team to defend whenever close to the ground and attacks wing attack or uses quick attack from the sky.'

"Double team." Once again copies of Staravia emerged, confusing Miles. 'I'm not sure if he even knows how, but it's worth a try.'

"Miles, try to look through the copies with your vision and then tackle the real one." Mile barked as he looked from one copy to another. Falkner smirked. "It hopeless. Allow me to show you the power of bird pokemon! Staravia, Wing attack!"

Before it could move among its copies Miles rammed himself into the real Staravia knocking it into the ground. He wasn't done yet. Once he landed on the ground he took off again, hitting Staravia right in the face as it got up. "Star…" Kenneth smiled.

"Way to go! Leer!" Miles immediately made eye contact before Staravia could get back into the sky. It took a step back, a bit frightened. "Don't be intimidated. Double team." Copies went left and right, circling Miles. He began to spin a little and tired to keep his eyes on all of them.

"Finish him with tackle, Staravia." The bird charged.

"Meet him head on!" Miles half spun and dug his feet into the ground. He crouched low to the ground, eyes steady on the bird.

"Now!" He pounced and their foreheads collided. Both pokemon were blown back by each other's attacks, both knocked out. Falkner laughed, recalling his pokemon. "Very good! But now are you ready to experience the true magnificent power of my birds?" Kenneth gulped as he released a Pidgeotto. It looked much stronger than the Staravia.

He recalled Miles, thanking him for a job well done and grabbed Lily's pokeball. "It's all up to you!" He released the poliwag. She jumped, happy to be out of her pokeball and looked at her opponent. The Pidgeotto hovered with ease in the air.

"Okay! Water Gun!" Lily shot forward a spiral of water from her mouth, heading straight for Pidgeotto.

"Blow it away with Gust." Pidgeotto cried and with a great flap of its wings a strong gust of wind was created, knocking away the water.

"Sand Attack!" The bird cried again and lowered itself to the ground. It brought its wings up behind it and shot them forward. Another strong gust of wind was created, but this time it carried a lot of sand.

"Use your tail to cover your eyes!" Kenneth called while covering his face with his arms as the sandy wind swept over Lily and him. When the wind finally passed he uncovered his face to see Lily be knocked to the ground with a Quick attack.

"Come on, get up and use Water Gun." Once again Lily attacked. Instead of countering with Gust as Kenneth expected, Pidgeotto dodged with blast of water with ease. Lily shot another blast but that too was dodged.

"Fly low and use Whirlwind!" The large bird dove towards Lily. It stopped right in front of her, shocking her, and created a strong wind that knocked up sand. 'Smart. He used the whirlwind close to the ground to create a large screen of dirt. Just like with Miles that means…'

"DoubleSlap!" Pidgeotto gave a cry, surprised at Lily's sudden attack within the sand screen and flew up. Kenneth smiled as he watched the bird hover over the sand.

"Now let's turn their trick against them. Use Water Gun before the sand settles!"

"Pidgeotto, blow the sand away with Whirlwind!" It quickly did so, but as it did Lily shot a blast of water at it. It stopped in mid-attack and zoomed to the side. The attack caught its right wing and it went crashing to the ground.

"Alright, DoubleSlap!" Lily ran forward with her tail ready to unleash a fury upon the bird. "Sand Attack!" Using only its left wing, Pidgeotto was still able to create a strong wind knocking sand into Lily's eyes.

"Sorry, this battle was fun while it lasted, but it's over. Quick Attack!" The bird sped towards its target, leaving a white trail behind it."

"Not yet! Lily meet it head on with a DoubleSlap." She spun a d her tail collided with Pidgeotto's beak and stopped the attack. Once Pidgeotto had stopped moving, she began to smacking it with her tail. Kenneth called out for another DoubleSlap and Lily kept it up. She finished her rampage by shooting a Water Gun into the ground, causing her to soar into the air. She spun on the way back down, crashing her tail on the top of Pidgeotto's head.

The Pidgeotto gave a cry as it tried to stand up. It got to its feet and tried to fly, but only collapsed into the ground unable to fight any longer. Falkner looked on in shocked and lowered his head, smiling. "Now it's over." He recalled his pokemon and walked towards Kenneth.

"Congrats, you beat me fair and square. So I, Falkner, the Leader of Violet Gym," He held his hand out. "Present you with this, the Zephyr Badge. It increases the attacking power of your pokemon." He laid the small badge in Kenneth's hand and shook it. "But this is only the beginning. There are still 7 more Gyms here in Johto. I wish you luck on your journey."

With that said he turned and walked back to his chair. Kenneth looked down at the small wing-shaped badge in his hands. His heart was still racing from the battle and he was suddenly filled with giddiness.

Once Kenneth had left the gym, with Lily in tow he noticed that it was dark. He shuddered as chill went down the back of his spine and he looked around. Everything seemed to be normal. He remembered the night before and decided that he would crash in a room at the Pokemon Center. 'Finally, a place to get a good night's rest.'

At the center he had Miles and Lily healed and was later given a room. In bed he wondered about calling his parents and telling them the news and decided against it. He knew that they would want to know all about it and he was far too sleepy to tell the story. Miles purred, curled up against his side once again and he rubbed his head. Lily was already asleep, deciding for the first time to sleep in her pokeball.

"1 Gym down…and a lot more to go…" He mumbled as he fell to sleep.

Damion was currently asleep on his nice and cozy bed, his two pokemon on the bed with him. He was too tired from the gym battle to even change into his pajamas and lay there with his clothes, shoes and all. The late night moon hung in the sky like a frosty disk, staring down at Violet Town.

But something was off...

Damion's eyes shot open as a shrill noise broke his sleep, he turned in his bed to see his PokeGear vibrating on the desk. He groaned as he stood up, his pokemon rubbing their eyes and wondering what's going on.

"Oh come on, it's 3 in the morning!" Damion complained as he saw the top right corner of his PokeGear which displayed the time. In the center of the screen was the name: ELM.

"Hello?" Damion asked, his voice was rough and lifeless. He rubbed his eyes as he spoke to the professor.

"Are you alright?!" Elm's voice was loud and obnoxious, Damion clogged his ear with his finger and winced at the shout.

"What are you talking about?"

"Are you blind? There is-"

The professor's shrill voice was interrupted when Damion's room completely jumped in the air. THe desks and bunk bed completely were raised in the air. Books falling off of the night stand, shelves coming off and the mirror tumbling down.

"AH!" Damion quickly got out of the way as the mirror fell, sending shards of glass everywhere. The two pokemon quickly took covered underneath the pillow. This entire order of chaos was accompanied by a large crackle of white light that seeped through is window.

The orange-haired boy's PokeGear rang once more, on the screen read FALKNER. Damion was shocked, he answered the call,

"Falkner? What's going on?"

"....."

There was no asnwer from the other side, only a couple of voices that he could fainly hear. The boy quickly recalled his pokemon into their pokeballs and grabbed his earphones.

He exited the Pokemon Center, the city completely shocked Damion. The boy's deep red eyes reflected utter destruction, it seemed as if the world was ending.

"This is similar to my vision." Damion said cooly. He hung his earphones around his neck and ran down the road. The sky was dotted with dark purple clouds, the sky itself was a blood red. People were screaming and running in every direction, some people had wounds and were covered in small trickles of blood that trailed down their bodies.

Down the road, Damion saw a large pile of rubble. A large statue of a Bellsproute in the midst of this rubble,

"Sprout Tower was destroyed?!" The boy was shocked. Damion qucikly barged down the road and made his way towards the rubble,

"Falkner?!" The boy's voice was completly and utterly shocked as the gymleader faced off against four men. Each man was wearing a brilliant white cloak, almost glowing even.

"Wing Attack!!"

"Dark Pulse."

Falkner's Staravia was completely blown back by a large crackle of dark energy that the enemy's pokemon produced. The Starvai's body fell to the floor with a thud, a cry of pain shot out of its mouth.

"Grrgh!!" Damion clenched his teeth and quickly turned around,

'It's them. What are they doing here?' The boy thought as he spotted the several other trainers that he saw at Prof. Elm's lab. Several pokeballs clipped to each of their waists,

'Did THEY gather us all here?' Damion thought to himself as he turned back to see Falkner falling to his knees,

"FALKNER!!" Damion shouted as he ran towards the scene of the battle, but to no avail. The crowd of pedestrians quickly stopped Damion in his tracks, holding him down.

"No son, it's too dangerous to try and help. Falkner can handle himself!" One of the people said, causing Falkner to turn his head and shake it. Seemingly telling Damion to just leave. A puddle of dark goop slowly made its way across the floor, until it reach a few yards away from Falkner.

From the dark puddle materialized a tall man with pale skin, dark evil eyes scanned the fallen gym leader. Falkner's fallen head shot up,

"Just what are you planning?....TELL ME!!" Falkner shouted at the men. The man in the dark cloak chuckled.

"Haha! Well I'll tell you, we are planning something very big. Bigger than Johto itself!" The man held his arms up towards the sky,

"So we can't have Johto's strongest trainers get involved, right? So we must eliminate each and every one of them. So just leave us be and let our plan fall into action." The man clenched his black fist. The gym leader looked up through his gray hair,

"Never." He said cooly, clearly aggitating the man. The man in black quickly released a large orange lizard, Charizard.

"Please dispose of this man." The black cloaked man said, as the Charizard opened its gaping mouth. Falkner looked down at the floor, defeated.

"No! Falkner!!" He shouted, but was too late. The Charizard released a column of fiery death which engulfed the gym leader. The crowd gasped in unison as the body of the gym leade was no where to be found. Nothing left but ashes,

"No. I was too late." Damion clenched his fists and looked at the floor, he quickly stepped back as he saw dull white puddles form in front of him. Out of the ground materialized a man in a white cloak,

"…………….why is it that humans must insist on weaving the pattern of fate themselves?"

"What do you mean?"

"Do not interfere...."

With that last phrase, the trainer released a two red and white capsules. Damion quickly reacted and threw two himself.

The battle quickly commenced, two strong opponents towered over Taro and Hoot.

"Hoot, Hypnosis! Taro, Rock Slide!!" The two tiny pokemon stood their ground as the tiny owl shot out a large ring of blue energy, making its way towards Duskull. Taro dashed at the Kadabra and bit down into its dark yellow skin, the Kadabra winced in the pain. It was a supper effective attack.

"Night Shade."

"Confusion."

The man ordered, as teh Duskull held up its ghostly arms. A sphere of dark crackling energy emitted a large wave of energy that struck Hoot, causing it to fly backwrds. The kadabra held up its spoon and muttered a few words, Taro became entranced and was suddenly knocked back by a way over psychic energy.

"Grgh! Hypnosis! Screech!!"

Both pokemon released their attacks, the ring of blue energy engulfed the Kadabra and gently put it to sleep. Taro released a loud barrage of soundwaves that knocked back the body of the Kadabra.

"Heh. Thanks to Hoot's Insomnia ability, Kadabra's synchronize ability can't be effective." Damion grinned.

"Now! Bite attack!! Hoot, Foresight!!"

"Disable."

Taro quickly made its way over to the Kadabra and stabbed its sharp teeth into its skin as Hoot released beams of red energy. The Duskull held up its arms and quickly engulfed the area in a faint blue light.

Taro's sharp teeth dulled, nullifying the Bite attack, Hoot's Foresight attack reduced to the appearance of a laser pointer.

"Oh no. Let's finish this, Rock Slide! Peck!!"

"NightShade."

Taro raised its arms to summon a large boulder from the gorund, the crowd of pedestrians were in awe of the power of that small pokemon. Hoot quickly flapped its way over to Kadabra, pecking sleeping body. Small wounds now covering its entire body, the psychic pokemon's eyes shot open.

"Confusion."

The large boulder summoned by Taro rocketed towards the duskull who in turn released a devious Night Shade attack, but to no avail. The boulder crushed the NIght Shade attack and pinned the Duskull on the floor.

Kadabra's confusion attack struck the Hoothoot, launching it at Damion who in turn was shot backwards.

"Come on Hoot, squeeze in one more Peck attack." Damion said, struggling to get up.

"Astonish."

The ghost pokemon's body seeped wiggeld out from under the boulder and rocketed towards the Larvitar. As the Duskull held out its arm to deliver the blow, the small Owl charged at the Duskull with its beak first. It completely drilled through the ghost pokemon's body, making it vanish into thin air.

The trainer grunted as the Kadabra made its way towards the pokemon,

"Kinesis."

"Bite!"

The psychic pokemon quickly held up its spoon as the Larvitar leaped towards the pokemon, in a flash of purple light the Larvitar completely missed its target.

"Grgh! Bite, again! Now, Peck!!" His two pokemon made their way for the Psychic pokemon,

"Teleport."

The Kadabra vanished, causing Hoot and Taro to crash into each other.

"Grgh! He's toying with me!!" The boy shouted at himself.

"Quickly!! Taro Rock Slide!! Hoot..."

Damion exchanged glances with the Hoothoot, as the bird slightly walked around the battle field. The Larvitar summoned another boulder, which was launched at the Kadabra.

"Quick, confu-" The man's voice was interrupted by Hoot's quick and powerful tackle attack at the Kadabra from behind. THe psychic pokemon was launched at the falling boulder, pinning it to the floor. The man's recalled the Kadabra and looked at Damion,

"Do not fret. Power will consume..."

With those last, strange words the man dissapeared. Leaving Damion dumb founded,

'This is getting out of hand. Falkner...' The boy's thoughts trailed off as he looked over at his fellow trainers. He closed his eyes to engulf the music, he recalled his pokemon and looked at the rubble that was Sprout Tower.

She was clutching a cup while flying away from the great arena on her Lugia that she had caught a few minutes ago. She waved at the people below her as they looked up in awe as she flew gracefully away from the tournament that she had just won. Lugia opened its mouth and from it came…. Beeping. Constant annoying beeping. She asked what was wrong but Lugia just continued to beep… Then she woke up.

But there was still beeping! Liliana looked around the room in hope to find a ginourmous Lugia, but all she found was her cellphone that was ringing frantically. She looked at the screen. Professor Elm.

"Do you have any idea-"

"Liliana, thank god! Did you have any idea how long I've been trying to contact you! Listen carefully-" Elm was shouting, as he was panicking. Liliana had never seen or heard him panic before. "- Are you alright?!!" He shouted harder and the worry was apparent in his voice.

"Prof, I'm fi-" There was a faint boom and suddenly light poured from the windows. Liliana had to throw the phone away to shield her eyes from the light. What the hell? She forgot about the phone while she rushed outside to see what the source was. Her Pokémon all panicked ran after her. Djali was all lit up again too, which was good because it made swure that she didn't lose her in the crowd. And there was a crows. People from everywhere were running in one direction, the Sprout Tower. Or more accurately, what used to be the Sprout Tower.

But suddenly the road to the destruction was blocked. In their path was no other than Falkner, the leader Liliana had just battled. He was facing four trainers all at once. And all four of them wore white cloaks. Wait, white cloaks?!

She looked around and noticed that all the others from the lab were here now too. She recognized the tall, black haired boy that stood beside her. There was no other trainer at her other side. This didn't feel like a coincidence. Not a coincidence at all. And Liliana couldn't do anything but watch the scene.

Falkner was struggling with his Staravia. He was giving out command after command frantically as he fought against the cloaked four. Staravia was doing its best, but it was tired and beaten up. It wasn't long before it collapsed. Falkner's eyes widened as he collapsed to his knees with a grunt.

"W-What are you plannine?!" It sounded almost desperate. Like Falkner knew, or at least had a clue, what they were doing. Suddenly, out of nowhere a man in black appeared. Liliana froze in place, but he didn't feel like the man in the dream. Less cruel… But he was still no good, that was for sure. He smiled at Falkner before he answered.

"Oh, we're planning something big, and in order to reach our goals, we must rid this regions of its toughest trainers, the gym leaders." He explained it so calmly. Liliana had trouble understanding him because he spoke so damned softly. The realization dawned on Falkner, his eyed widened even more if it was possible. He shook his head in denial and then stared right up to the cloaked man.

"N-Never" It was almost whispered, but it was enough. The cloaked man suddenly looked angry, and very dangerous, as he summoned his Charizard. The creature appeared in the same fashion as his master had before. The man whispers something and suddenly fire rages from the Charizard's mouth and engulfs Falkner. In another swift movement the man disappears and takes his Pokémon with him. There is no more Falkner. No more sprout tower. The people rush toward the site, but Liliana didn't move. She was still shocked into silence. She was permitted no more time however, because a cloaked woman with a malicious grin walked toward her.

She released a Kadabra, and didn't waste any time. "Kadabra use confudion!" Liliana leaped out of the way of the Kadabra's attack. What was wrong with these people? The trainer told her Pokémon to use Confusion again, but Liliana had Pokémon too.

"Djali, tackle!" Shinx came from behind Kadabra and tackled it just before it could attack Liliana again. "Good job, continue it, wear it down with your tackles Djali!"

"Kadabra, condfusion. You are not going to lose from a thing as that!" the woman almost spat the words out grudgingly as her Pokémon tried to confuse Djali, but where it looked was no more Shinx. Djali with her speed was already to the side of Kadabra and tackle it again. Now when Kadabra turned to the place where Djali had once been, she was ocne again gone. The tiny thing had crept under Kadabra's feet and now tackled it from behind. Every time it turned around Djali was gone and hit it from another angle. The woman locked her jaw angrily.

"Stop that Kadabra!" She reprimanded agrily. "You know better than this, close your eyes and sense it!" Kadabra did so, and right before Djali hit it she was being pulled into the sky and flung away somewhere in the crowd, but the Shinx came running back. Liliana cought a glimpse somewhere of a Sentret fighting off a Duskull, but she didn't have a lot of time to pay attention.

"Djali, use charge!" Djali suddenly shone brighter, sparks were flying off her body as she generated electricity. "Now use tackle!" When Djali hit the Kadabra it seemed to get a shock of the static electricity that had built up in Djali's body. It looked very weary as it tried to Confuse once again. But Djali was still faster.

"So that again one more time, Djali, we've got him where we want him!" And Djali did, the same trick he had tried at the beginning. Kadabre relied too much on his eyes, which his senses were way more accurate. Djali ran toward it, then under its legs as it tried to hit it with a confusion. From the back it hit it was another static tackle. The Kadabra was now very worn, but it was still standing. Mad, and standing.

But the cloaked trainer seemed to have lost patience with it. "Come back you useless thing!" She growled it almost and suddenly Liliana felt sorry for the Pokémon. :Duskull, you finish this!" At the sight of the Duskull, Liliana swore.

"Come back Djali, you can't handle this. Nala, your turn!" Nala emerged from behind Liliana, and eyed the Duskull angrily. The Pokémon was already attacking with a Night Shade. Black beams were shooting from its eyes toward Nala. She had been a little too late in dodging, and cringed in pain as the beam hit her. But this only made her angrily.

"Nala, use Poison Powder!" Nala approached the Duskull angrily with her buds turning purple. When she was close enough she released the poison everywhere, and Duskull inhaled. Right after he inhaled the poison his body turned a strange purplish colour. "Follow it up with a Razor Leaf Nala!" She did just that. She fired the attack straight at Duskull, who was struggling with the poison. It cringed away from her attack.

"Duskull, astonish!" The cloaked woman seemed to be losing patience with her Pokémono rapidly. Duskull shimmered suddenly, and appeared right behind Nala. Nala quickly turned around but she got hit by the attack and left stunned. Her eyes were big as she stared at the Duskull but didn't move. The opponent used this moment to fire another Night shade at her. This attack seemed to snap her out of it, but it also left her badly harmed with no sun.

"Nala, we have to finish this! Use Razor Leaf!" Nala turned toward the Duskull angrily and released her leaves. They hit it dead on and the duskull collapsed. The woman looked even angrier than she did before. For a moment Liliana thought she was going to jump her herself, but instead she disappeared angrily. Liliana looked around at all the other trainers. What was going on?! Maybe what Elm had said in the beginning was not as much fable as Liliana thought it was…

It felt great to have helped that man from the highwaymen, Baron seemed to have the same feelings of excitement Cairne did. Right now what was weighing on Cairnes mind was the scar on his face, even though it was burning worse than any pain Cairne had ever felt in his life he was actually glad he got it. It was like a mark of honor for his victory over the highwaymen. It made Cairne think about his grandfathers burns. Speaking of which he really had to call home and call his grandpa next time he got downtime.

It was getting dark out but instead of making camp for the night Cairne pushed on. He needed to make up lost time for now and anyways, after a victory like that what could really stop him?

He looked up and smiled while pushing through the grass, the stars were bright in the sky and it was a beautiful night. All of a sudden Cairne tripped forward onto his face. He looked down at his feet to see what tripped hiim up and there at his feet was an angry looking ladybug, Cairne pulled out his pokedex.

Ledyba

Ledyba ran at Cairne and knocking into him. Her tackle was so strong it knocked the wind out of him.

"Baron... Use Ember!" Cairne said as he could feel the wind begin to rush back into his solarplexus. Fire jetted out at Ladyba and struck perfectly but this ledyba would go down without a fight, she stood back up and shot small yellow rings out of her head at Baron. Baron began spinning around dizzily and with an even lazier expression on his face.

"Come on Baron, snap out of it and use tackle!" Baron made an odd noise and began smacking his head off the ground in an odd manner."Ahhh gar, that mustve been supersonic! Hes confused now!" Cairne said out loud, "Baron come on lets use ember again!"

Baron let out a nice long NUUUM and shot fire in every direction lighting up random objects all around him. Trees light aflame and so did the grass but to Cairnes pleasure Ledyba took a hit hard and landed on the ground burned. Baron shook off the confusion and focused back onto Ledyba.

"Tackle now! Let's finish it!" Cairne yelled and his Pokemon tackled the small ladybg into a tree, Ledyba fell to the ground unconscious and Cairne got excited. He pulled out a Pokemon Ball and threw it at the small bug, the ball wobbled once, twice, three times and.....

The ball snapped shut and Cairne smiled with victory. He picked up the ball and could just imagine the Legend of Zelda item get music in the background. he placed the ball in his pocket and even though he wanted to keep going he knew his Pokemon needed rest, he set up camp and let his two Pokemon out of their balls, he lied down and got into his sleeping bag. Just as he closed his eyes he could feel some shuffling on top of himself. He turned to see Baron was sprawled out on his stomach and Ledyba was lying flat on his head. Cairne laughed and closed his eyes, he could feel himself slowly losing conciousness.

He awoke to a spooky noise far behind some odd looking bushes but chose to ignore it. Less that five minutes later he was awoken by the same noise comming from the same place.

"Shut the hell up goddamnit!" HE yelled and threw a rock into the bushes. The noise stopped and so Cairne rolled over in his sleepy haze and drifted off once more.

The third time he was woken up was the last. "Of course!" He said, "Why should I be given a good night sleep? Come on guys, let's go." He said to his Pokemon when he finished packing up his bags. The small hole on Barons hump was letting off a small orange glow and brightened the path through the bushes in front of Cairne. Once he pushed through the bushes Cairne could see a small broken down shack. He figured whatever is making the noise must be in there so he pushed the door open and looked around the small room.

All of a sudden he felt a crack under his sneaker. He looked down and saw a shattered picture frame filled with glass and a photo. He lifted the dusty photo and blew it off. "Baron, come over here, gimme some light!" Baron tiptowed through the small shack and shined his backs natural light unto the photo revealing the image on it. Cairne got a good look and recognized one man in the photo, it was Professor Oak, the man who had written all those text books his grandfather made him read.

He shrugged and placed the photo into his pocket. Cairne continued looking around on the ground until his eyes were caught by a leather bound book with golden letters on it. Cairne lifted the journal and flipped through the dusty pages until he found an entry that looked decent.

.... Today Elm said he found a Pokemon egg! Can you believe that? That means there are Pokemon eggs all around the world! There is so much we don't know about these amazing creatures...

-Mr.Pokemon

"Eggs are amazing? How the hell old is this book?" Cairne laughed to himself and then heard the annoying sound once more. "Baron shine your light into the corner of the room." Baron obeyed and in the corner sat a pale little girl in white rags with tears running down her cheeks. Cairne was wordless, he just stared at her for a few seconds until she eventually spoke.

"Darkness has a way of keeping the dead alive." Cairne turned his head and felt a chill creep up his spine tickling his every nerve.

"What do you mean?" Cairne said, but the little girl began laughing maniacally. She stood and slowly began walking towards her at an extrmemely slow pace. He body began to go invisible but her head continued moving. Her hair was replaced with purple gas and her face morphed into a small black ball. Cairne could barely control his emotions so he did the only thing he could think of, he pulled out his Pokedex and aimed it at the black orb.

Gastly
"A ghost Pokemon! He tricked me!" Cairne said and the Gastly continued chuckling out loud. Gastly opened its eyes wide and stared inventively at Ledyba. Slowly he approached her and stuck out his tongue licking up her face. "Ummm... Woah? Ledyba use your Supersonic!" Ledyba shook off the attack and shoot small yellow rings towards Gastly. Gastlys eyes rolled into the back of his head and he began wizzing around the room smashing into things. Books and beakers hit the ground and Gastly went nuts. He stopped flying around just long enough to give Ledyba a nice long lick and knock her out.

"Ledyba, return! Baron you use your ember!" Baron shot flames at asly covering the frantically confused ghost in flames and also lighting the small shack on fire. The shack began burning brightly and the whole place was soon englufed in flames. Cairne and Baron ran out but the Gastly seemed to remain inside. When Gastly confusion wore off it transformed back into the little girl and looked out the window of the bulding with her saddened eyes.

"Please get out!" Cairne yelled, he wanted to beat the Pokemon in a battle, not kill it! The girl laughed hysterically. Cairne tried running at the house but it collapsed nad the flames bursted and became even brighter. Cairne blocked his owned face with his hands and closed his eyes from the heat. All he could hear is laughs as the building dissapeared entirely. He fell to his knees and put his hands over his face. "I'm so sorry... I'm sooo sorry!"

The sun began to come up on the horizon and Cairne shook his head. Whatever was done was done, it wasn't his fault the Pokemon was too stupid to just leave the building not his!
