Liliana had to admit, it was a beautiful road to be at. But that still didn't make it any less annoying to travel through. There were lots of rocks in the area, and she'd tripped at least three time over one. Djali was intent on sniffing everything and tackling every Pokémon she saw. Lili just didn't have enough energy to run around trying to keep her from antagonizing everyone else. Honestly, she wasn't sure if she wouldn't just prefer the nervous and timid side of Djali. At least that Djali was a lot less to deal with.
And then there was the problem of the rapidly growing foliage around her. There seemed to be two options. Either you chose the road beside the river or the docks, or you had to struggle through the bushes to find your way out. Liliana seemed to have taken the wrong turn. Then she heard voices, a male one and a female. She suddenly got very curious, more so than she probably ought to. She came closer to see what was going on.
When she saw it was the guy she had seen earlier she startled and rustled some leaves. To her horror the boy whipped his head around to look at her. It took her a moment to get it together and act casual about it.
"You.. you're the one from that night… right?" she asked it as a question because she wasn't entirely sure. Well she was 99% sure. She wouldn't forget that night quite so quickly.
"Yeah." That was all he said. A yeah. Liliana concluded he must be a man of few words. Well boy, he wasn't quite a man yet. She noticed that she was still creeping in the bushes, so she quickly walked up to them, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. To take the attention off of her, and probably also because she was feeling quite embarrassed, she turned asked another question.
"So, what is up with this?" Lili stared at the boy and then the girl, and the boy again. She wasn't really interested in the girl. More so in the boy. Not just the fact that she had seen him that night. Well that was mostly it, but there also was the little detail that he was quite cute in a foreign kind of way. She found herself fumbling with her dark hair, and stopped immediately.
"Dumbass over here thinks I took her wild mareep," he rolled her eyes at her. Liliana couldn't stop herself from thinking he seemed to be antagonizing her also, but she didn't voice this thought. "Right… I'm Sahib by the way." Sahib. She knew he was foreign! A bit Indian by the looks of it.
"Liliana," she replied with her own name. "And if it's wild… Then how come it is hers?" He opened his mouth to say something, but a malicious grin spread across her mouth. "Did she pee on it or something? To mark her territory? Write her name on its head?" She glared at the girl when she stuck her tongue out. Real mature.
"I sure as hell hope not!" He replied with a slight revolted look on his face. "In any case, she wants a battle. Quite frankly, I'm not going to give her a double battle. But I doubt she'll let me pass."
"Well, you know, we could always team up?" Liliana suggested inconspicuously.
"Yeah do that you ball-les freak!" What the hell was wrong with this girl?!
"I bet he has more balls than you have boobs," Liliana retorted. Sahib looked to be quite torn over this comment, but in the end he looked a bit pleased with himself. Liliana laughed a bit inside, but she was sure to keep from laughing out loud. It would be rude. Meanwhile the girl had retorted to her comment by sending out both of her Pokémon, an Aipom and a Pachirisu. They both looked quite ready to take her on. Sahib went with the Sentret that was curled on his shoulder, and Liliana asked Djali to take a stand.
"Sentret attack Pachirisu with fury swipes," it was Sahibs opening command. "You can take care of that Aipom." Liliana nodded and turned toward Djali.
"Djali, Aipom's ours, Let's start with a bite attack!" Djali understood and attacked the Aipom, biting it directly in its oversized tail. At the same time Sahib's Sentret attacked the Pachirisu, but it didn't do a whole lot except annoy it some.
The annoying voice of the girl caught in again. "This is just little kid's stuff, Aipom scratch that little kittie off of you-" That's all Liliana paid attention to. The Aipom used scratch on Djali and she had to release it in order to get away from Aipom's attack. From the other side of the field Pachitisu was charging itself and Sentret was trying desperately to get away in time, which almost worked, but he got away with a tiny bit of a jolt.
A very unwelcome giggle made its way into Lili's ears. What the hell is wrong with her? Why is she laughing, those moves weren't that ingenious. But the answer came soon enough. "You two have no idea how to work together do you? Show them some real teamwork! Aipom use tickle on Shinx! Pachitisu follow up with a quick attack on the Shinx as well! Once that one's out of the way we'll go for the Sentret."
Two on one? That's hardly fair! Aipom started tickling Djali, while Sahib was doing nothing against the charging Pachirisu! She thought they were a team and he's just gonna stand there and wait?! "Djali, use charge to get it off! Then counter the squirrel with a tackle!" Djali successfully used a charge attack, the Aipom had to let go or it would be badly shocked. After that she leaped up and charged at Pachirisu. Liliana gasped when the Pokémon leaped up and revealed another pursuer right behind her… Sahib's Sentret.
Djali crashed into the Sentret. This made Liliana so mad. First he doesn't do anything and then, when she did have it covered, he acts all wrong! "What did you go and do that for?! I had it all under control, didn't you see? You shouldn't have interefered!" She knew she shouldn't be so harsh, he was trying to help. But a lot of good that did.
"It's called a double[.i] battle," his tone wasn't helping her irritation. "So pardon me for attempting to help you. I'm getting tired of this, Sentret finish Pachirisu with a quick attack." Sentret sped forward toward the Pachirisu, but just before he could hit Aipom knocked him away with its large tail. Liliana met his gaze, first she looked at him with amusement, buthen she understood what had to be done.
"Oh fine! How about we work together this time?" She still snapped, just because. "Djali use bite on the Aipom to hold it still!" She met the other girl's gaze. She was still looking very amused, but she hadn't figured out the plan yet. Liliana smiled at her with all the venom she could muster as Djali jumped at Aipom, biting his tail and standing on top of him to hold him still. Now the realization dawned across the girl's face. Liliana's smile only got wider.
Sahib understood and told his Sentret to use Quick Attack on the Aipom. The impact was so great that Djali had to let go of the tail quickly before his jaw was launched away with the monkey. It hit the ground painfully and failed to get up. One down.
From that point on things went a lot more smoothly. They had the other Pokémon down in no time now they had figured out how to work as a team. Basically Djali held the Pokémon while Sentret bashed against it. Finally this partnership seemed to go well. In the end the girl started to cry and stomped away from them.
"Bet she's not giggling those eyes out now," Liliana muttered with a smile while she recalled Djali. She definitely needed a rest now. She hadn't meant for Sahib to hear her but he did. He looked at her for a brief second before replying. "Yeah, I suppose not." He really wasn't very talkative out of battle. "Well.. I suppose… I'd best be.. uh.. going." Liliana couldn't help but think that was a pretty lame way of trying to get away from her. She laughed.
"Well, Sahib, we'll most likely see each other again anyway, so I guess I'll see you there," she stated, while walking away with a wave. That was definitely an interesting day. And it had kept her mind off of certain things. Maybe it had been a coincidence that she had been there that night, and with the trainers on her first day. Wrong place, wrong time? Same as with Sahib. It took approximately the same to get from New Bark to Violet. A coincidence, that's what it was.
