Suggestion: The Lets Play/Guides/Reviews Section

Let's face it. This section goes very unnoticed.

The only people who post on it are people who post LPs and get 0 posts on it for the most part. There are reviews, but I don't think they belong there.

When somebody makes a post in the Video Games section pertaining to a certain game that is essentially 'a review.' With that, you might as well cross out the review portion and add a thread prefix in the Video Games category called "Reviews"

Obviously, you're thinking. Why take away the only real reason that section is even here?
    Well, I have an alternative.

Why are we just calling it LP.
Let's broaden that section to Streaming/Broadcasting.

Currently, we are not allowed to advertise our YouTube channels unless there is a video to it, and you can not advertise your Twitch channel. However, what you don't understand is PC is a freakin' awesome community. They support their members and help them out all the time. Starting up a YT or Twitch channel is very hard, and using forums like this to advertise is a great way to get a general basis to expand off of.

To prevent the consistent threads being made of "follow my youtube, follow my youtube, follow my youtube, watch my twitch." We can limit the posts.

For example, if I want to advertise my Twitch Stream I can only have one thread about it as opposed to keep making them. This will eliminate clutter and have anybody who wants to advertise be able to do it on their thread.

For the YouTube portion you can only advertise per series. So you can't make 30 different threads for your single LP. But you can make various threads for various LPs.

We then add the prefixes - [Lets Play] [Guides]

Klippy told you earlier today through VM that he was going to look into the "Twitch" issue and see if the rules may be revamped for that section; I don't quite see the point of this thread if he told you that himself and as a subsequent result the other Video Game moderators are going to be looking into this shortly.

Nonetheless, this part stuck out to me.
The only people who post on it are people who post LPs and get 0 posts on it for the most part.
Honestly, why would Twitch be any different? It's essentially the same premise, rather one is being streamed right at that time while the other is posted after activity. If that's the case - which it is - then the end result will be the same as the premise of "hey, come watch me play video games" is identical.

Essentially this is still a plea for advertisement of a channel. This is why I've never been a big fan of the Let's Play section because it's essentially turned into a giant spam/advertisement pit. I'd rather just get rid of the section entirely to be honest.

Firstly, it is against the forum-wide rules to advertise. The Let's Play area has rules that comply with the forum's rules and, as such, we require people to post their videos directly, as opposed to linking their channels or videos. To specifically create a thread to link your stream/channel violates the forum rules and our sub-forum's rules cannot override that.

Any other suggestion you have made that violates said "no advertising" rule cannot and will not be implemented. I will continue to look into the issue and see if there is something to be done.

Beyond that, the section goes unnoticed because the market for what the LP area offers is very limited on PC and there is no traffic to the area. Attempts have been made to rectify this issue, but it isn't an effort issue; it's just a marketing one.

I will continue to look into seeing what I can do for you in regards to Twitch streams. In the meantime, you are welcome to advertise your Twitch stream in your signature where it does not violate any rules. :)
