Just a quick question: How can a Trainer remember exactly every move his pokemon has? I mean ash has like 30 tauros , Not to mention some extremely high-leveled pokemon. On the other hand we have Iris who knows her Axew only knows Scratch and later on, Dragon rage.

My idea is that because the trainers (lets take Ash for example), scan a specific pokemon for the data, when he catches it, the pokedex calculates that data,in order to show a list of the moves that pokemon has, means the anime is indeed following the games in some aspects.

Because, well....Ash has a terrible memory and recognition skills, it was shown in most episodes he can't understand Team Rocket is always disguising. And recent rivals like Cameron (who did not know you need 6 pokemon to fight a full match or 8 badges to participate in the league), or Barry (who did not remember Ash's name or where was he heading into a lot of times) and even Bianca (who forgot where did she put her pokeballs...)

because How else can These people with terrible memory remember the pokemon's moves??

They have shown several trainers that they were calling the moves with the wrong name. I guess, they have guide books and Pokedex. Pokemon are living creatures in the anime, so they could simply show them the moves they know ;)

Of course but if there arent any levels whatsoever how can the have guide books?
And it still did not answer my question: how can they REMEMBER. Like, when a pokemon learnes a new moves it means he forgot an old one right? How can the trainer know exactly what is the forgotten move, when the pokemon learnes it in-training or in a mid-battle?

    Get me now?

Iunno. I can open up like any of my Pokémon games that I've played in the last year and remember most of my 'mon's moves. A quick refresher does help, though. And a game I've been playing recently? No need to even wonder. I know exactly what they have. It's not that hard to remember movesets of 4-10 Pokémon. When you're taking someone that you haven't used in a while, a check would be good. But in the anime that info is stored on the Pokédex. Ash can surely give them a scan just in case their moveset changed or he forgot. Like Charizard's moves were different than last time he showed up iirc. I'm sure he just did a quick scan. And probably- for those without a 'dex- Nurse Joy can give a move update, because she has that kind of equipment. Or like ilias said, the Pokémon can simply demonstrate the moves if the trainer forgets. They've don that sometimes when a trainer is borrowing someone else's 'mon.

I haven't watched all the episodes from all the series. I am now re-watching them. Do you remember the moves of your team in the games? I do. So why wouldnt they remember the moves? haha I, even, know Ash's Pokemon moves. And I guess it's a part of their job and training to remember them. It's like when you have an exam in real life. You do remember the stuff you have to remember don't you? ;)

They haven't said how the trainers are able to know the moves but I remember when Jessie got her Wobbuffet James read in a book that he knows the move Counter.

And, the Pokemon can always show them their moves ;) maybe that's how they can say which move is the forgotten one.

EternallyAnna And THAT is why your'e a moderator :) You have a unique thinking that i rarely see in other friends of mine that play Pokemon. This site's community is what keeping my passion alive. And i love every second of it.

They has their Pokedex to know about their Pokemon's attack .
The main question isn't how they remember their Pokemon's Move !
The Main question is How they decide which Move their Pokemon should remember and which move their Pokemon should forget !!!

As everyone has said, the Pokedex in the anime/manga does list their moves. Also four moves shouldn't be that hard to remember. Haha. Also, I believe the pokedex is how they change/delete moves and such.
