Fire Red Mono Ground Update

Spoiler:

Ended up choosing Bulbasaur as my starter because I'm a sneaky devil like that.
Scoured the early routes for a ground type or a nidoran. Wasted about 15 minutes only to realize I had to wait until mount moon.
Destroyed everyone in my path including brock.
Caught a nidoran male. Codename Giovanni
Boxed Ivysaur.
Caught a Geodude codename Balboa.
Currently Training them up levels as follows

Giovanni lvl 12
Balboa lvl 7

FireRed Mono Ground Update #2

So I found myself with a lot of spare time this evening so I decided to progress through my challenge.
Got through mount moon with minimal effort. Peck and Double Kick on Nidoran with Rock Throw on Geodude made everything you find in there a breeze.
Get to Cerulean City do the nugget bridge and head to Bills crushing each trainer that dares stand in my way. Help Bill out and head back to the city.
Decided to try Misty since my Nidoran is now Nidorino and lvl 24.
Got whipped by Starmie.
Decided to head to Vermillion to get more training.
Destroy all the trainers before Vermillion with ease.
Get my Diglett from Diglett cave.
Clear out the S.S.Anne and get ready to beat surge.
Geodude and Diglett both evolve.
Realize I need the Cascade badge to use cut so back to Cerulean I go.
Defeat Misty by using Focus Energy and spamming Horn Attack with Nidorino.
Head back to Vermillion and destroy Surge.
Train some more on trainers to the right of Vermillion.
Currently headed through Diglett cave to get Flash and then it's on to Rock Tunnel

FireRed Mono Ground Update #3

Update

Spoiler:

Realized I didn't have anyone who could learn Flash. So I decided to catch a pikachu and force it to do my bidding. Went back to the Rock Tunnel pikachu in toe. Got through it, caught an Onyx on the way.
Got to celadon city feeling kind of nervous so I cleared out the rocket hideout. After I got the silph scope I decided I'd go back to lavender town.
Clear my way through the pokemon tower. Fought my rival and caught a cubone. Save Mr. Fuji and get my pokeflute.
Head back to celadon and beat Erika pretty soundly (though I was kind of over leveled).
Take out snorlax and make my way through the bike path.
Get to Fushia City and take on Koga. The battle was fairly easy but boy do I hate minimize.
Hit the Safari Zone tried to get Rhyhorn but failed. Did get Surf and the gold teeth then got my Strength HM.
At this point I'm breaking and thinking about my next gym leader Sabrina.

I just beat Gary in the optional rival battle on Route 22. I went in a little underleveled because I got tired of grinding, but it turned out fine! About to head into Viridian Forest.

- Get rekt by Skyla
- Less than 9000 Audinos were harmed in the making of this Monotype.
- VS Skyla: Erufuun gets up a Leech Seed, Tailwind, and Light Screen before dying horribly to Swoobat. Kuru just misses the KO with X-Scissor and gets rekt. Shiki takes an Acrobatics and 2HKOes the damn Swoobat with Return. Swanna's FeatherDance harshly lowers a stat Flora doesn't use and it's Air Slash fails to KO or Flinch, so Flora gets kill credit. At this point, I learn she has a Skarmbitch. ugh. Flora sleeps it and Seeds it, then I switch to Shiki for... a lot less damage then I'd hoped. Luckily, Bounce crits and we out. Finally. I hate Flying types.
- Nothing of note happens until Route 11 except me ignoring Cobalion like an asshole
- On route 11 I find... Wait, that thing isn't banned in the Maison?
- One Master Ball later, I find my 6th team member, Virizion. Not nicknaming her due to the Japanese name being the same as the english one. (I know Virz is genderless, but I will continue to refer to her as a girl for reasons)
- Bla bla bla move stuff, bla bla bla training, bla bla bla Entralink abuse...

I caught Serena on a whim. I haven't decided if I'm going to use her or not. I've never used the Spearow line. Any thoughts?

My only Spearow usage was as an HM slave in LG that ended up beating the champion's Venusaur by abusing the fabulous Gen 3 AI. I had Fly and Venu's only attacking move was Solarbeam. Figure the rest out.

I got pretty far today. I beat Brock and Misty. Brock was trouble but I eventually whittled his Onyx's health down. Currently I'm about to enter Surge's Gym.

Starting my run with generation one and moving forward.

• Chose Gaia the Bulbasuar for full poison immersion.
• Wrecked rival and went on to Viridian and grabbed Oak's parcel.
• Pokedex get. Let's go.
• Scooped up Pimp the Nidoran Male on Route 22 and Shino the Weedle on Route 2 before facing Viridian Forest.
• Did a little grinding in the woods and walked out with Shino evolving into Beedrill and Gaia learning vine whip.
• Brock didn't stand a chance.
• Moved eastward and cleared Route 3.
• Caught FatBat the Zubat in Mount moon.
• Grinded a bit and left with my new team consisting of a Beedrill, Ivysaur, Zubat, and Nidoking all level 17.
• Grabbed NopeRope the Ekans on Route 4 and leveled him to match the team.
• Healed up at Cerulean and went North to challenge the rival.
• Wrecked his face and everybody else on the bridge.
• Caught Maria the Oddish on route 4 and leveled her up while fighting my way to Bill's cottage.
• Gaia and Maria swept through Misty and her trainers.
• Going south to make my way to Vermilion city I encountered a Butterfree that reminded my how pain really felt. Thankfully Pimp proved his worth and was the only survivor of the battle.
