The Monotype Challenge

I woke up early in the morning, only to find out that I was finally the age to become a pokemon trainer! I walked downstairs and immediately ran out of the house. In my excitement, I forgot the Potion stored in my PC from my 3rd birthday. I was in such a rush, I ran straight into the grass to go catch my first pokemon! When I was about to go further, Professor Oak stopped me in my tracks and some stuff happened later. Eventually I ended up with a Pikachu and beat my friend who I have deemed the title of "Rival" to. He actually stole my eevee, but it's ok because I got a Pikachu instead. Ever since I was little, I had an obsession with Electric types, and decided never to use any pokemon that are not Electric type.

I did a little wandering around, but I somehow ended in the first Gym with my Level 11 buddy. The first guy wasn't too tough, a few quick attacks and both his pokemon were down for the count. I thought that guy wasn't so tough, so how bad could the gym leader be? I decided to try to find out, and it didn't go well. The only move that my Pikachu can use to even harm his pokemon is Quick Attack! After all was said and done, my pikachu was unable to battle and I Reloaded my save went to the pokemon center, and from there did the only thing I know to do in this situation. Grind to a stupid high level so his pokemon didn't stand a chance. After getting to level 16 I decided to fight him again. His Geodude went down after some good luck with crits, and it left me at his Onix with 3 HP. I used 2 potions to get as close to max as I could, and used Tail Whip until his defense couldn't get any lower. After potion-ing up again I went in for the kill with 5-7 quick attacks, and his beast was slain. And professor Oak told me that I couldn't win with a type disadvantage! After gaining his badge and TM 34, I decided to go to the pokemon center and call it a day.

It means you must have at least two completely usable pokemon before the E4.

For example, you can't have it like this.
Salamence Lv.60
Bagon Lv.25

it has to be like this
Salamence Lv.60
Altaria Lv.60

And this is just an example, you can use any non-legendary Pokemon of your type you want that is available in-game.

So I was looking through my Pokemon on my old Diamond game, and I noticed a mono-Poison team that I had migrated from Kanto, and I suddenly remembered that long ago I actually completed a Poison Monotype run through LeafGreen! So I did some more digging, and I found the final (and very thorough) update here. I'm pretty sure the rules haven't changed since 2008, so can this count for the Kanto leg of my Ultimate Poison? Also, it's kinda fun reading through that old challenge that existed before the time of the Challenges forum.. there was actually a rule where once a person claimed a type no one else could do the same challenge!

Caught a junker (to trade for the gibble) And froakie is now lvl 7.
Battled youngster austin and won
Entered santalune forest and found a potion.
Obtained a paralyze heal from shauna.
Battled Lass Anna//Froakie fainted, had to use a lvl 2 fletchling oops...
Won with 4 hp left, Fletchling leveled multiple times
had shauna heal my team
Found another potion
Exited the forest
Entered Santalune City
Bought a hat.
Fought rollerskater outside santalune gym, obtained skates.

Unfortunately, you're not allowed to trade in a Gible for your challenge. According to the second rule, you can only trade in a Pokemon of your type if you can't obtain one before the third gym. I'm not sure which type you're doing, but if it's Ground you can find Bunnelby on Route 2 before the first gym, and if it's Dragon you can find Axew and Bagon in Connecting Cave and on Route 8, respectively, before the second gym. Just wanted to let you know before you get too far in your challenge! :)

I've decided to work on finishing my Ultimate Steel Monotype next, and I'll be playing the three games that I need to finish it (HeartGold, Pearl, and X) side by side. So here is the first update on those three games!

HeartGold
I started with Totodile and rushed through the first gym to get to Union Cave, where I caught my first team member, Onix. I spent some time leveling up, then traveled to Azalea Town where I defeated Team Rocket at the Slowpoke Well. Then I easily swept Bugsy's Gym, thank's to Onix's Rock-type STAB. I had some trouble defeating my rival, but eventually I was able to travel through Ilex Forest to reach Goldenrod City. I immediately went north to the National Park, where I won the Bug Catching Contest by catching my second team member, Scyther. I then caught it up to Onix before taking on Whitney, who was more annoying than difficult. Then I traveled north to Ecruteak City, and immediately west to catch a Magnemite (which was luckily enough holding a Metal Coat!). As I was training Magnemite, I caught a Stantler with Frisk then searched for another Magnemite holding a Metal Coat. Eventually I found one, and I traded to evolve both Onix and Scyther into Steelix and Scizor. I spent some more time training Magnemite, then battled my rival in the Burnt Tower and got Surf and Strength. Finally, I was ready to take on the gym! Morty proved to not be too challenging, so I easily earned my fourth gym badge!

I started the game and chose Piplup so I could eventually have the Steel-type Empoleon on my team. I was able to power through the start of the game, and defeated Roark pretty easily thanks to my Water-type STAB. Then I traveled through Floaroma Town to Eterna City, where I immediately got my Explorer Kit. I spent quite some time digging until I found an Armor Fossil, which I took straight to Oreburgh City to have it restored. Then I went back to Eterna City, where I narrowly defeated Gardenia.

I started yet another run through Kalos, this time picking Fennekin as my starter. I went straight to Route 3 and caught my first team member, Burmy. I had to do a lot of training before I was even able to take down Viola to earn my first badge. Afterwords, I moved ahead to Lumiose City, where I defeated Professor Sycamore and met Diantha at Cafe Soleil. Then I traveled through Camphrier Town and did the Parfum Palace side quest so I could get to the Battle Chateau, catching Honedge along the way. At the Chateau, I was able to allow my Burmy to evolve so it would have a Trash cloak and be part Steel-type. Then I traveled around and defeated any trainers I had skipped before traveling to Ambrette Town. Once there, I traveled to Glittering Cave where I caught my third team member, Mawile! After training a little, I defeated Team Flare then traveled to Cyllage City. I explored the town, then took on and defeated Gym Leader Grant, earning my second gym badge.

Firered Fire edition update 4

Beat the team rocket HQ levelling them up quite a bit

Flareon took down onix and ryhorn with dig while kanghaskhan finished it off. growlithe chipped a bit but died too leaving charizard to finish the job.
Saved mr Fuji new arcanine wrecked the marowak
went down Both routes to fuschia for training
VS Koga
Arcanine OHKOd koffing then after a hard chipping match with muk finally went down, flareon missed fire spin twice and got critted by sludge so he didnt last long, leave it to charizard to Finish off the muk and then OHKO and 2HKO the second koffing and weezing respectivley.

Pokemon Yellow Electic Update 2

I reached Mount moon and bought the magikarp (Just for swim later on), then went through the mountain with almost no difficulty due to my high-ish level. After going through the entire mountain after forgetting to get some repels, I arrived at Cerulean city. The bridge wasn't much of a challenge, and the gym afterwards was a joke. I felt bad about not taking the charmander from that one guy, but we can't have any fire types now can we.

Flareon just wrecked here with secret power destroyed kanghaskhan and nidorino, rhyhorn finally finished it arcanine finished it but then nidoqueen lived a Dig and finished arcanine, charizard scooped up the remains with a flamethrower

Nothing too hard here flareon got a clean sweep with bite/secret power, almost. alakazam hit psychic lived a secretpower and hit psychic again for the kill, leave it to arcanine to finish the job with bite.
Went back to fuschia, got Sunny Day TM, HM surf and Gold Teeth, gave the warden his Teeth and got Strength
Went on to cinnabar island
VS Blaine
he stupidly used fire blast on arcanine who has flash fire so a strength followed by bite took down vulpix, next was ponyta and flame wheel boosted by flash fire got a critical hit and OHKOd it, next was growlithe and after 2 flame wheels it was down.
after a hell of a fight with his arcanine ultimately my arcanine fell to a critical hit, leave it to flareon to finish the job with a dig.
Went with bill to Sevii islands, caught my final team member Twilight the ponyta (watch Feeling Pinkie Keen to get the joke) grinded her up to level 40, did the stuff on 2 and 3 island so bill would take me back to kanto.
on the way to viridian gym now.

Not too hard thanks to rapidash knowing solarbeam and sunny day, charizard started dodging a rock blast to 2HKO with brick break then rapidash came in on his other ryhorn set up sunny day and then sadly dieing to EQ since i forgot it had that. whoops.
well at least charizard OHKOd it with crit flamethrower and thanks to the sunny day was able to get a clean sweep on dugtrio nidoking and nidoqueen.
Thrashed Rival again
got through victory road, against my better judgment decided not to grind at all instead taught overheat and double edge to flareon, and dragon claw and Earthquake to charizard(the only member of my team that learns EQ, is a flying type. wat)
VS Lorelei
WHY does an "Ice" Trainer have FOUR water types? *sigh* anyway
Dewgong was first against rapidash, sunny day then hail then sunny day again, took a surf and OHKOd with crit solarbeam. cloyster was next and solar beam straight up OHKOd then lapras came in, the tank that it is solarbeam barely did half then i got confuse rayd, solarbeam again took down to low yellow and sitrus berry healed it up sun wore off and i barely lived a surf, got sunnyday back up before dieing, leave it to charizard to finish it off with flamethrower. arcanine took down slowbro with one bite, flinch, 2 bite, surf and 3 bite finished it. finally jynx took a flame wheel and put me to sleep, took 3 ice punches before waking up and flame wheeling it to death.

VS Bruno
Onix was a simple sunny day, solarbeam from rapidash tanking a rock tomb
charizard took a rock tomb from hitmonchan and struck back with flamethrower then dodged a second and flamethrower for the KO, flareon smacked machamp with overheat and took about 2/3 sitrus berry bringing it back up, then lived a cross chop and took it down to a tiny smidgeon of health with double edge. he healed and a flamethrower from charizard took him to below half, a second KOd him. hitmonlee lived a fly and he healed finished off charizard with facade, arcanine took a few hits and chipped away with flame wheel till it died before bringing back rapidash to try a solarbeam on onix but it had EQ and killed rapidash, arcanine was fodder to revive charizard who took some double edges and 3HKOd with Earthquake.

VS Agatha
Rapidash did the usual sunny day shenanigans and OHKOd gengar with crit fire blast, next was golbat charizard took it to red with flamethrower, knew she would heal so i used dragon claw then hit myself in confusion and finished with another 2 flamethrowers taking air cutters all the while. hit arbok hard with earthquake before dieing to sludge bomb, flareon took a sludge bomb but try as she might to finish arbok with dig, it just wasnt enough it barely lived and finished her off. leave it to arcanine to finish with bite. gengar number 2 had a good fight with arcanine one bite took under half took a sludge bomb, second bite took down to sitrus berry took another sludge bomb, healed up and took a sludge bomb, took a final sludge bomb and finished with a third bite, haunter was her last pokemon and it lived bite barely then got flinched, she healed it and i brought it back down with bite and a third bite finished it off.

VS Lance
knew this would be tough, didnt dissapoint. started off with sunny day as usual took a bite then hit a crit solarbeam for just over half then got hyper beam'd
flareon finally pulled her weight and finished it with double edge as it recharged, next was aerodactyl which was annoying, after foddering flareon and arcanine i decided to revive arcanine and let charizard die, then arcinine with some hyper potions tanked the last 2 ancientpower, then with some crafty bite chipping and hyper potions tanked hyper beams for days ultimately using his first full restore and then finishing it off. dragonite was next and i was prepared this time, max revived charizard as arcanine died, hit 2 dragons claws and took 2 more outrages, he got confused, hit a third dragon claw down to the last smidgeon of health and he hit himself to death. healed up and 2HKOd both dragonair with dragon claw for the win.

VS Green
god this was tough
rapidash set up sunny day yadda yadda, took an aerial ace hit fire blast on pidgeot, took sand attack hit a second fire blast for the KO. next was rhydon Solarbeam OHKOd, blastoise the tank that is is took a solar beam to the face and kod with hydro pump, then KOd flareon before it could even do anything and charizard who could barely dent it, arcanine was my only hope so i revived between it and charizard dodging some hydro pumps till it was all out, then arcanine with some hyper potions tanked and chipped away through 2 full restores to finish off ASStoise. next came alakazam, strength did under half, revived charizard and died, healed charizard and EQ didnt do much after a reflect but a flamethrower afterwards finished it off, next came exeggutor flamethrower took it down to red and then he pulls a THIRD full restore out of his behind, so i full heal on charizard and smack it with another flamethrower (sleep powder'd) then get sleep powdered again, so i full restor and finish with dragon claw, foddered rapidash that i revived earlier into arcanine since it had intimidate, took an Espeed and struck with fire blast before healing charizard and dieing, charizard took some Espeeds and hit 2 earthquakes before, get this, A FOURTH FULL RESTORE!? so after that shenanigan i healed charizard and one, two, three Earthquakes finally put the damn thing down. screw, you, green.

MVP: Charizard, i mean its sheer power was destroying so much stuff and believe me without him i wouldnt have beat the E4
LVP: i really dont want to say flareon, poor dear gets too much hate but sadly i must say flareon.
it was a decent hard hitter but especially late game it became quite lackluster and was just too slow and missed some nearly crucial kills, special mention though to Lance's gyarados since without that Max Damage double edge i dont think i wouldve beaten Lance.
