This will be my final update before the Elite Four. Whoo! I just got my eighth badge and am on my way to the Pokemon League. My team is:

    221.gif
    Lv: 44

    Dig
    Blizzard
    Powder Snow
    Take Down

    323.gif
    Lv: 44

    Flamethrower
    Earthquake
    Ember
    Magnitude

    075.gif
    Lv: 44

    Rock Blast
    Rollout
    Magnitude
    Strength

    260.gif
    Lv: 45

    Secret Power
    Muddy Water
    Mud-Slap
    Surf

    031.gif
    Lv: 46

    Double Kick
    Thunderbolt
    Sludge Bomb
    Earthquake

    330.gif
    Lv: 46

    Crunch
    Solarbeam
    Dragon Claw
    Fly

It took some trial and error to find pokemon with TM moves that could stand up to water for all the surfing in this game, but Nidoqueen and Flygon are the best. Juan's Kingdra threw me until I remembered I had an ice-type in Piloswine. I think, with some grinding, I'm ready for the Elite Four.

This is my first time doing a challenge like this, I'm a bit nervous about how I'll handle things like Team Aqua. I think Aron is the first and only Rock type before the 2nd Gym?

Here we go... I defeated the Elite Four! It took me three tries and a ton of grinding after the second attempt, but I finally did it. Water types are really rough for a ground run. Nidoqueen and Flygon were my go-to pokemon for this run, and I have literally never used Nidoqueen before. It really gave me a whole new appreciation for how awesome she is. Anyway, the final team ended up being:

    221.gif

    Lv: 58
    Dig
    Blizzard
    Rock Tomb
    Take Down

    344.gif

    Lv: 60
    Psychic
    Shadow Ball
    Hyper Beam
    Earthquake

    323.gif

    Lv: 60
    Flamethrower
    Earthquake
    Eruption
    Fissure

    260.gif

    Lv: 61
    Secret Power
    Ice Beam
    Earthquake
    Surf

    330.gif

    Lv: 62
    Crunch
    Solarbeam
    Dragon Claw
    Fly

    031.gif

    Lv: 63
    Brick Break
    Thunderbolt
    Sludge Bomb
    Earthquake

I swapped Graveler for Claydol when I saw the Champion used all water-types. Graveler really wasn't going to be much use for this Elite Four really, so Claydol was the better choice. On a side note, Swampert is a serious tank.

This was actually really fun. I think I'm going to do a Dark run of Soul Silver this time so I can use my all-time favorite, Houndoom.

  • ...And it's done!

    Pokemon%20EmeraldT.png

Oh boy, where do I start... First of all, this certainly was not as easy as you'd think it'd be. It sounds odd, but the WATER-type using champion gave me a run for my money!

Obviously, Ground-types were a nightmare. It's a shame they kinda' stopped showing up after I got Lanturn. Except Flygon and Whiscash, Which water moves don't exactly take care of...

And today I learned that X Sp.Def wasn't a thing until Gen. 4! Goodness almighty, would that have helped...

  • Ultimate Monotype Update Grass
Regions Done: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos
    Current Games: n/a

    Black 2 Update
Badges: 8/8 DONE I'M DONE WITH THE ULTIMATE MONOTYPE!

    1. Defeated Drayden using Dragon Pulse Serperior.
    2. Did the whole length of the remaining storyline.
    3. Defeated Marlon in Humilao. Grass > Water.
    4. Defeated Team Plasma in all the places. Frigate, Chasm, etc.
    5. Went to victory Road. Did a lot of grinding.
    6. Hugh was hard as Embord OHKO most of my team with Flamethrower.
    7. Shauntal was hard because of Fire Blast Chandelure. Managed to almost wipe me. Good thing she ran out of PP. 5/6 died with Ferrothorn at the yellow.
    8. Grimsley was much easier. Attract + Leech Seed + Poison Powder Whimsicott took care of Liepard and Scrafty. Bisharp and Krookodile was done by Sawsbuck. 1/6 died, Ferrothorn.
    9. Caitlin was also hard as I have nothing against Sigilyph. I had to resort to Coil + Slam + healing spam for Serperior. Whimsicott and Simisage are the only ones dead.
    10. Marshall was both sides of the spectrum. Throh and Mienshao are OHKOes but Conkeldurr OHKO Simisage and Ferrothorn. Sawk managed to kill Whimsicott, but not before I planted a Leech Seed on it, breaking the Sturdy. Sawsbuck managed to Horn Leech it to death after surviving a Brick Break. 3/6 dead.
    11. Tried stalling with Whimsicott but one crit from Flamethrower Hydreigon ended my stall. Dragon Pulse finished Hydreigon and Druddigon though. Lapras was two Leaf Blades from Leavanny. Good thing Sing missed. I sent out my Ferrothron against Archeops as she was the only bulky one on my team. Iron Head plus residual damage killed Archaeops in one turn. Sent out Sawsbuck against Aggron, hoping to get a KO with Jump Kick. He managed to set up with Autotomize but two Jump Kicks made quick work of him. Brought back Ferrothorn for Haxorus. Used self-destruct but Haxorus survived and managed to setup using DD. Sent out Leavanny but it can't sponge any hit lol. Sent out Simisage as fodder for Reviving Ferrothorn. Self-destruct again and that ends my ultimate monotype!
