Bryce and Mankey watched in anticipation as the Pokeball began to shake from side to side. To Bryce, this was the longest three seconds ever. The ball shook once, twice, and finally, it stopped. Bryce ran to the ball and picked it up. As if showing it off to the whole world, he yelled,

"Alright! I caught a Shinx!" Mankey only jumped up and down, sharing in his owner's joy.

The two continued walking down the road. He had been down this route countless times on his way to the Jubilife Pokemon Academy. His old friend was probably still there. Still getting picked on, he thought to himself as he smirked. He would surprise all of his old classmantes with his two new strong Pokemon. They would be terribly jealous. He smirked again at the thought of someone being jealous of him.

Finally, Bryce and Mankey passed through the two lampposts that marked the entrance into Jubilife city. Jubilife city was the most advanced city in all of Sinnoh as far as technology was concerned. Not only did it sport an awesome Pokemon Academy, but many new additions were also being added, along with some that were already there.

Past the Pokemon Academy was a lot where the proposed Global Trade Station stood. Right now, trainers from all over the world could travel to this spot and trade. They were planning on implementing a system that allowed trade without having to travel such a long distance.

There was also Jubilife TV station, formerly the Jubilife Radio Show station. Right next to that was the Poketch Company. They were proposing a watch that would aid all sorts of trainers during their travels.

He entered the Pokemon Academy. He was immediately greeted by familiar faces.

"Look, it's Bryce!"

"Hey, Bryce! How's it going?"

Bryce only proceeded to release his Pokemon. He was surprised when everyone else had Pokemon too.

"You didn't think you were the only one who actually became a trainer. Did you?"

After a couple of hours of watching battles and showing off moves, Bryce left the Academy and entered the Pokemon Center. He saw the familiar Nurse Joy there, along with her Chansey. He walked up to the counter.

"Hi, miss. Could you heal my Pokemon for me?" He asked her in a polite manner.

"Of course," she replied. He handed her a tray that held his two Pokemon. "It'll take a couple of minutes. Why don't you go and grab a bite to eat?" She went to the back and began attending to his Pokemon.

Bryce decided that a bite to eat sounded good. He hadn't eaten since he left Sandgem Town. On his way to the cafeteria, he passed by a bulletin board in the Pokemon Center. It read: LOOKING FOR RATATTA. OFFERING RARE POKEMON AS REWARD! It explained how his mother would not allow him to travel and catch his own Ratatta.

"Darn!" Bryce exclaimed. "I knew I shouldn't caught one of those Ratatta!" Now his day was ruined, he could have had a good Pokemon, but no, he wanted a Shinx! However, he brushed it off and continued toward the Cafeteria.

As he took a seat, he saw a bunch of kids crowded around an older kid. He was holding a disc.

"This is a technical machine, or TM for short," he explained. "I won it at the battle tent outside of the city." The younger kids listened, amazed, as the older kid continued to brag about his prize.

"TMs teach Pokemon how to use certain attacks," he continued.

"What attack is that one?" One kid asked.

"This? Oh, it's just an Earthquake TM. Nothing special." The kid tried to sound like he was nonchalant about the whole thing, but he was actually all bubbly inside. Bryce stood up and approached the boy.

"Hey you!"

"Who me?"

"Yes, you! Where did you say you got that TM from?"

"Oh, I got it from the Battle Tent. It's right outside of town." The boy pointed towards the direction of the tent. "You're not thinking of going, are you?"

"Yes, what of it?"

"Well," he turned his head. "You're not going to be able to beat them." Bryce looked at the boy. What did he just say?

"I can beat them, and I will!" You could see fire in his eyes. He was determined to prove this kid wrong. "Just wait and see. I'll even come back and show you the TM that I win."

"No need to, I'll come with you." The kid followed Bryce out of the door and toward the tent. On the way, he asked Bryce an important question.

"Do you even have any Pokemon?"

"Oh, right, my Pokemon!" In all of the excitement, Bryce had completely forgotten about his Pokemon.

"I was wondering if you were ever going to come back," Nurse Joy remarked as she gave Bryce back his Pokemon. "They are now fighting fit. We hope to see you again!"

"Chansey!" Chansey replied in agreement.

Bryce exited back out of the door and went his way to the Battle Tent. The trainer followed behind him. The tent was nothing like Bryce had seen before. There were small battlefields surrounding it and a pond for water battles. He and the trainer entered the tent.

"I would like to sign up for the competition," Bryce told the attendant. She led him to an area outside. There was a rack full of ApriBalls.

"Here's how it works, you will select a random Pokemon. All of the Pokemon are at level 10. You will then face a challenger." She led him to the rack of ApriBalls. Bryce picked the one with the number 7 on it. Another kid approached the rack. This was his challenger. The kid picked the number 4 ApriBalls. The attendant led the two to a nearby battlefield.

"The battle is over when one of the Pokemon are unable to battle. Begin!"

Bryce and the challenger both threw their Pokeballs to the ground. Out popped a Ponyta and Bidoof. Bryce let out a grin because the Bidoof wasn't his. The trainer on the other hand was pretty upset.

"Ha," Bryce laughed. "You and your weak Pokemon are going down! Ponyta, use Tackle!"

Ponyta's speed was unmatched. She sped towards Bidoof and charged right at it, knocking it off of its feet. The Bidoof landed and waited for its temporary owner's command.

"Bidoof, you use Tackle also." Bidoof charged at the Ponyta, only to miss. Ponyta used Tackle again and hit Bidoof once more. However, Bidoof hung in there.

"Bidoof, use Defense Curl," the trainer ordered. The Bidoof curled up into a ball, thus raising his defense. When Ponyta charged it again, the impact barely left a dent.

"Bidoof, use Defense Curl until you can't anymore!" Bidoof continuously used Defense Curl, until nothing happened anymore. Bidoof's Defense was at a maximum!

"Ponyta! This guy's an idiot! Knock him out!" Ponyta raced toward the Bidoof one more and landed a hit. It then ran back toward Bryce, who ordered another Tackle attack. However, as soon as Ponyta started charging, the trainer did something unexpected happened.

"Bidoof, use Aqua Tail!" The trainer had checked his Pokedex only to find that this particular Bidoof had inherited an Egg Move from its father. Bidoof charged at the charging Ponyta, while water spiraled around its tail. When both Pokemon hit each other, only Bidoof was left standing.

"Ponyta is unable to battle. Bidoof is the winner!" The attendant, as well as everyone else there, was completely in shock. They were all expecting Ponyta to win.

Bryce stood there in a daze. He couldn't believe he had lost. He had the Speed advantage and the stronger Pokemon. How could he have been beaten by a Bidoof?!?!

"Both of you did well," said the attendant. "I would like both of you to follow me so that I can hand out prizes." The two boys followed the attendant into another area inside of the tent where there were loads of discs.

Ethan was no angel. Over the course of his lifetime he'd done things he regretted, he'd done things that hurt others, and he'd done things that had hurt himself. But never had he done something this horrible. Caterpie was practically a baby, unable to defend itself if something larger and stronger came along. He knew they had got lucky with Rattata. They had won due to its desire to prove itself to him, and his instruction. Caterpie had neither on its side now. It was common knowledge that Pokemon thrived under trainers, often battling much less effectively on their own. And when Ethan thought about it he realized Starly may not be the only creature present that ate Caterpie. What if Rattata did? He had no idea what other sorts of beasts lurked in the trees. Had he condemned it to its death? He'd never forgive himself if that was the case.

Then he heard a familiar sound a distance behind him. The warbling cry Caterpie used to communicate fear and pain carried to him, so clearly there was no mistaking it. He stopped dead in his tracks, facing forward but looking back. Was he sure it was Caterpie? Would it want him to go find it? As the cries intensified he made up his mind. Whether it wanted him or not he was going to go save it from whatever was harming it. It may be pathetic, it may be useless, but it didn't deserve to die.

He turned around and ran. Dirt loosened under the soles of his shoes and more than once he feared he was going to lose his balance and spill forward, most likely removing all of the skin from his face, arms, and hands. But he couldn't slow down. He had to find Caterpie. After a frantic search he came upon a small ghost Pokemon, about to hit Caterpie with its horn.

"Back off!" he yelled fiercely, instinctively grabbing the ball containing Rattata from his pocket. He threw it, releasing the small Pokemon. It hissed at the offending ghost, baring its fangs.

"Rattata, use Quick Attack!" Rattata crouched low then lunged at Caterpie's attacker. It passed right through it, which made it angry. Chattering the entire time it continued to lunge, the attack proving itself harmless every time. But that gave Ethan enough of a distraction to run forward and pick Caterpie up. Shivering in his arms, it curled up into a small green ball and allowed itself to be held. That was when he realized there was a trainer present.

Though he knew it was his fault, Ethan couldn't help but be angry. Caterpie was his. "What's the matter with you, running around trying to steal other people's Pokemon? Don't you have better things to do?" He glared harshly and recalled Rattata, for it was exhausting itself with its futile attempts to attack the ghost. "You'll be lucky if I don't report you for Pokemon thievery." With that he turned on heel and ran. He didn't want to have to get into a fight, as Caterpie was too scared to move and Rattata wasn't effective against the offending trainer's Pokemon. Besides that, however, he didn't want her to know he'd abandoned it. He didn't want anyone to know, ever. Just as he wasn't going to tell anyone he used to have a Caterpie, now he wouldn't tell anyone he had tried to get rid of it. It may not be much, but it was worth much more than he gave it credit for.

When he judged they were a fair distance away from the trainer he slowed to a walk. Gradually Caterpie began to unravel from its ball. Lying on its back in his arms it looked up at him with huge eyes and crooned questioningly. "It's alright," he promised it. "I'm not going to let you go anymore."

Though it didn't understand his words, it understood his meaning and the change of tone. It began to make a strange purring sound as it crawled up to his right shoulder, which seemed to be its favorite place, and curled around his neck. "You're tired too?" He reached up and stroked its squishy smooth body. "We're almost to Jubilife. When we get there I'll take you and Rattata to a center, we'll rest, and we'll be good as new."

The rest of the trek to Jubilife City was silent, save for the soft singing of bird Pokemon in the trees as they settled down. The sky overhead darkened gradually until the sun disappeared completely. Ethan was left walking in the dark for a few minutes, and he considered camping for the night. But then the lights of jubilife came into view, and he decided to continue. He was so close, and his Pokemon needed healing. Besides that Ethan had never slept outside a single night in his life. He didn't exactly want to start now.

When he trudged into the Jubilife City limits he glanced around to get an understanding of how the city was constructed. Luckily, the center was directly in his line of sight. Legs burning from exertion, he pushed on. The white red-roofed building grew larger until he was close enough to grasp the handle of the door on the left and pull, letting himself in. Due to the increasingly late hour there weren't all that many people inside, of which he was glad. He didn't want to have to wait in line. A row of plastic chairs stood against the wall adjacent with the entrance. A total of four trainers of various ages occupied them, leaving the majority empty. A gleaming white tile floor reflected the bright light from above, giving everything a blindingly clean look. It was all new to Ethan, for he had never been inside a Pokemon Center before. He'd never had a reason to. Unsure what he should be doing he approached the front desk slowly. A smiling young woman with long red hair waited for him expectantly.

"I need my Pokemon healed," he said quietly. The nurse nodded and handed him a clipboard and pen. "Just write your full name and the species of your Pokemon. That way we can help to avoid a mixup." He did as he was told, up until he got to the part where he was supposed to tell the genders of his Pokemon.

"I don't know their genders," he mumbled with a blush. But instead of scoffing and calling him stupid she gestured for him to hand her Caterpie. He did so and she examined it carefully. It took her a moment or two of staring at its antenna to decide.

"This is a little girl," she said cheerfully. "You can tell because her antenna is more red than orange. Males' are orange to attract females. That way when they evolve into Butterfree and are ready to mate there are already females nearby."

Ethan furrowed his brow in confusion. "I thought Caterpie evolved into Metapod?"

The nurse laughed and set Caterpie on the counter to fill out her gender slot on the sheet. "It does, yes. But then it becomes a Butterfree. It has a three-stage evolution."

When he looked at Caterpie again he saw her in a whole different light. So she was indeed a baby, quite literally. He felt even worse for abandoning her, but he resolved to make up for it. He would take the best care possible of her. She was his partner, and he would treat her as such.

"The form says you have a Rattata too." Ethan glanced up, jolted out of his thoughts. "Oh yeah, sorry." From inside his pocket he withdrew Rattata's ball and released it. It looked up at the nurse with some aggression, unsure of its surroundings.

She immediately marked male on its information sheet. "How do you know it's a male?" he asked. She raised a brow at him. "How do you not know?"

With all that said, she took his Pokemon into the back. Ethan didn't really know what to do with himself after they were gone. He supposed he could use the time to come up with names for his new team. After all, if they were going to be with them for a while he would have to call them something. Rattata was easy enough. He called upon his education, how his mother had insisted he learn Latin. A word immediately came to mind when he thought of how the Pokedex had told him they were often found in abundance. Furcifer, meaning pest, would be perfect for a male Rattata. But what about Caterpie?

He began to pace as he thought. It was a girl, and she would evolve into a Butterfree. He'd already known what a Butterfree was, but somehow neglected to make the evolutionary connection. So what could he call her? Verde was a possibility, for her green body, but she wouldn't always be green. In fact, Butterfree weren't green at all. He continued to ponder when his eye fell on the message board. There was a rather large picture of a Rattata and strips on the bottom with an address. After closer inspection he realized someone was actually looking for Rattata, and was offering a reward for them. What could be so special about Rattata, he wondered? They were just outside the city. All one had to do was walk fifty feet and no doubt they would find one. But he wasn't about to question it. He took a strip and finally sat down in one of the uncomfortable plastic chairs.

After fifteen or so minutes had passed the nurse returned with Furcifer and Caterpie. "Here you are, Mr. Sarvais. Your Pokemon are tired still, but refreshed. You should get some sleep. We offer lodgings here at the Center, in case you didn't know that."

Ethan smiled gratefully. "No ma'am, I didn't know that. Thank you for telling me."

He returned Furcifer to his ball and allowed Caterpie to crawl back up onto his shoulders while they discussed how long he would need the room and how much it would cost him. They settled on from that moment until ten in the morning, for [PokeCommunity.com] The New League500. The fee was minuscule compared to how much money his parents had sent with him, so he paid gladly and accepted his room key. Instead of going to his room, however, he hoisted his bag back up onto his shoulders and exited the Center. He wanted to look into the Rattata trade before he turned in for the night. It wasn't too late, so he assumed he wouldn't be disturbing anyone when he reached the specified address. The house was large, yes, and rather pretty, but nothing new. In fact, it was rather like the house his family had owned in Canalave. Curious as to what he would find inside he grabbed one of the Arcanine-shaped doorknockers and banged it against the lovely wood. It wasn't long before he heard footsteps scurrying to answer. A small woman who appeared to be in her thirties opened the door, smiling hugely, throat and earlobes adorned with large opals.

"Hello, hello!" she said cheerily. "Are you here about the Rattata?" He nodded, once again unsure of the situation he was in. "Well, then come in!"

He did as she asked and she shut the door behind him. "My son is a Rattata enthusiast," she explained as she led him to the young boy's room. "He wants a full team of Rattata to take on the gym challenge with, but I can't stand to let him go out of the City and catch them. There are all sorts of nasty creatures out there that might harm him."

That talk had taken up enough time for them to get to the kid's room. She opened the door and Ethan got the first glimpse into the life of the new prospective owner of Furcifer. There were already five Rattata blundering about the room, Rattata posters on the wall, Rattata books, and even plush Rattata. Ethan didn't think he'd ever seen someone so obsessed with any sort of Pokemon.

As soon as the boy saw him his face lit up and he jumped to his feet from where he was on the floor, wrestling with his Rattata.

"Are you here to bring me one too?" he asked excitely. In answer he released Furcifer from his Pokeball. The kid hurried forward to examine him. "He's lovely. Here, this is the Pokemon I have for you." He then backtracked as quickly as he'd come and removed an ornate Apriball from a shelf. It was decorated beautifully, with a pattern of swirls that resembled flames over silver. The kid pushed it into his hands before he could say anything. "Thank you, I have my whole team now! I can take on the gyms whenever I want. I know I'll win."

The trip out of the house, the goodbyes exchanged, and the walk back to the Pokemon Center all happened in a blur. Ethan was far too exhausted to pay any mind to anything to the right or left of him. He stumbled into the Center and up the stairs to the housing floor. His room turned out to be number 27, right next to the ice machine. Dimly he was thrilled by that; he'd always liked being able to make a short trip to get ice when staying in strange places. Having it far away was just one of his pet peeves.

He unlocked the door with his key and entered to find two beds and a small black and white television. He couldn't have cared less about entertainment, however. He kicked off his shoes, shrugged his bag off his back, and crossed the room where he fell onto the bed, fully dressed. "Today was long," he said aloud. Caterpie voiced her agreement and wiggled up next to him on the pillow, where she curled into a tiny ball and was asleep in seconds.

Always having been a curious person, Ethan wondered what rare Pokemon his new Apriball contained. He picked it out of his pocket and set it onto the table next to his bed. He'd just made up his mind to find out when true lethargy took over his limbs. 'Tomorrow,' he decided. He then rolled over, facing Caterpie, and blacked out.

The girl smiled as she watched Angela hit the Caterpie. Sure, she didn't like the cry the Pokmeon was giving out when the Ghost did it it, but it was necessary if Sara was to have this Pokemon. She would make sure to treat it well once she caught it. It seemed to have gone through a lot nesscary.

Sara was about to give another order to her Shuppet when she stopped and blinked in surprise. For, out of no where, there came a boy who called out a Rattata. The Rat Pokemon started to, uselessly, attack Angela. Both Pokemon and Trainer were to shock to react and, before they could regained their wits, the boy had picked up the Caterpie and recalled the Rattata. He then started to yell at Sara and, before the girl could even get her brainer working to form words, he sprinted off.

"Hey! Where the heck do you think you're going!?" Sara yelled, running after the boy. "Who ya calling a theif!? I didn't know that the Caterpie belonged to you! Get back here!!"

But it soon became clear to the girl that the boy was too fast and that she wouldn't be able to catch up with him. Sara slowed down as soon as she realized this and panted slightly. Angela looked up at her trainer and whimpered slightly. The gril sighed and reached a hand out to pet her Shuppet.

"What the heck was that all about?" Sara asked, staring after to where the boy went. "I mean, I understand why he was angry at me attacking his Pokemon, but he didn't even wait to hear and explaination. Also, why did he run away so quickly? Honestly, there was no point. I wasn't threatening him or anything, and if he really wanted to report me he would had at least tried to get my name. I mean, unless he was trying to hide some-" The girl suddenly stopped something as her eyes widen. "Unless he was guilty of something too! Oh man, I bet he stole that Caterpie! Or abandoned it or something like that! Oh when I see him again I'm gonna..."

But then Sara just sighed and shook her head. "Well, he's gone now, might as well just keep going."

"Shupet," Angela said with a small nod, and the two started to make their way once more to Jublife town.

Sara and her starter made it there just as the sun was about to go pass the horizon. The new tainer looked at the town map and quickly found the Pokecenter. She entered the red roof building and went up the counter. A Nurse Joy saw her and quickly went up to meet Sara.

"Well hello there, how are you?" the Nurse asked with a smile. "Do you need to heal your Pokemon?"

"Yes, I would thank you," Sara said, handing the nurse the pokeball that held Yansa, and then taking Angela's ball out. "Alright Anggy, time to get back in. I know you didn't take any damage, but it's been an exciting day and I want you to be at your best for tomorrow, what ever it may hold for us."

The Shuppet just sighed as Sara returned her to the ball and also handed it to the nurse. Nurse Joy smiled and handed Sara the clip board and pen. "Just write your name and the Pokemon you have," she said and when the girl did so, she put the clipborad and pen back. "Alright, now would you like a room?"

Sara nodded and, after discussing the price, the nurse gave the girl her room key. She took the key and started to walk away, but then stopped when she say a notice board. She read it out loud, "Wanted, a Rattata. Will give rare Pokemon in exchange for it."

Sara blinked, not believe what she had just read. How many Rattatas has she saw on the last route, yet it haddn't crossed her mind at all to catch one! Thinking that they were too weak to actually be worth catching, and now look at it! She could had traded it for a Rare Pokemon.

"Well, there's no point in worrying about it now," Sara muttered to herself as she continued on her way. "I blew my chance and that's my fault. Might as well live with it."

Still, the girl couldn't help but to sigh once more as she walked to her room. But the thought left her mind when she found her room and entered it. She just took off her shoes, set down her pack and crawled into bed. Sara stared at the ceiling for a bit, reflecting on her day. But slowly, she started to calm down and, a few minutes after she closed her eyes, feel asleep.

Sooner then wait the girl had expected, sun light broke through the room in which she was using and stabbed her eyes. Sara groaned and raised her blankets up to cover her eyes. She staid like that for a little bit before suddenly sitting up and looking around her. It took the new trainer a little bit to realize where she was and what she was doing and, when she did figure it all out, she threw the covers off and got out of bed.

"Nope, not gonna make that mistake again," Sara muttered to herself as she put her shoes on. Once that was done, she grabbed her pack and left the room. Once she did so, she went up to the counter and asked the nurse, "Hey, do you mind if I can have my Pokemon back now?"

"Sure thing!" The Nurse Joy chirped, seeming to be happier then usual. "Lets see...Would you happen to be Nancy with the Spearrow and Weedle?"

"Um...no. I'm Sara with the Shuppet and Starly," Sara said.

"Oh yes! Here you are! Just wait a second," the Nurse Joy said, turning around and picking up a couple pokeballs and laying them on the counter. "You're Pokemon are actually quiet easy to find with these now balls you have. It makes our job so much easier!"

"No problem," Sara said with a small smile as she picked both balls up, opening the one and smiling more as Angela appeared. "Hey there girl! How are ya?"

"Shuppet!" Angela called out happily, playfully tackling her trainer. The girl laughed and put the ghost on her shoulder.

"Well, thanks a lot Nurse Joy," Sara said. "See ya around!"

"Have a nice day!" Nurse Joy said happily as the girl turned around and left the Pokecenter.

Sara sighed happily as she looked around the town and the new day. She couldn't help but smile to herself, wondering what adventures would await her next. Once again, she started to hum to herself as she walked over to the Pokemart. Once inside, the girl grabbed five of the Potions and brought them to the counter.

"Just these please," Sara said the shop keeper.

"That'll be 50 dollars," the man behind the counter said in a monotone voice. The girl handed him the money, then placed the Potions into her pack before leaving.

"Well, now that we have that out of the way," the girl said, "I say we should get out of here, how about you Anggy?" She smiled when the Shuppet nodded egarly, then stopped suddenly when she noticed something out of the corner of her eye.

It was a large tent that with the picture of two Pokemon battling above it. Sara lookd at it for a little bit before walking over to the green tent. She entered the tent and, after taking a couple steps inside, a man appeared from the side to stand in front of her.

"Welcome to the Battle Tent!" The man said with a smile. "Would you like to take the Tent's Challanege?"

"The Tent Challanege?" Sara asked, confused.

"Yes, it's a special kind of battle that will help trianers hone their skills," the man said. "In this challange, you will choose a Apriball that has a Pokemon in it. You pick a ball, but you don't know what Pokemon is in it. Then, you will battle another person who has also chosen a ball and you fight. Afterwards, depending on how well you did, you'll get a TM. What do you say?"

"Wow...that sounds really interesting," Sara said, grinning to herself. "Alright, I'll take this little challange. Bring it on!"

"Very good," the man said with an even bigger smile. "Though, I will ask that you return that Shuppet of your's. Just so that it doesn't interfere with the battle. Also, what is you're name?"

"I'm Sara Goodman and no problem." Sara said, then smiled apologetically at Angela. "Sorry Anggy, but I really would like a TM." The Shuppet just sighed as her trainer returned her. The girl then looked back at the man.

"Right, now pick an Apriball, anyone you want," the man said, gesturing towards the ball.

Sara nodded then walked over at the balls. They were all black with white numpers painted on them. She looked back and forth at the ball before reaching a hand out and picking the ball with a number 3 on it.

"They say it's the magic number," Sara said, then turned back to the man.

"That they do," the man said with another smile. "Now, if you will come back here..." He led her to a back of the tent, making Sara realize that it was quite a bit bigger then she originally thought it was. They entered a room that looked like a mini arena. Another boy trainer who wore biker clothes was already waiting on the far side.

The man led Sara to the nearer side and then walked over to the middle. "Alright, this is a Battle Tent Challange between Sara Goodman and Kenny Smith. This is a one on one battle. The first to have their Pokemon knocked out or surrenders loses. Prizes will be given out regardless. Are we clear?"

"Yes," both Sara and Kenny said.

"Then let this Battle Tent Challange, begin!" The man said, chopping at the air.

"Alright Pokemon, lets go!" Kenny said, throwing the ball out. The Apriball opened up and, in a flash of light, a Scyther appeared. It glared at Sara and swung it's sharp arms at her.

"Wow, a Scyther," Sara said, looking at her own ball and smiling. "Now I really want to know what I go. Pokemon, go!" She threw the ball and, in a flash of light, there appeared...

"Togepi!" The Togepi called out happily as it came out, bouncing on the ground a few times before stopping.

"What!? A Togepi!?" Sara yelled. "What the heck is this!? I demand another Pokemon!"

"Sorry, you've already chosen and now you have to live with it," the man said. "Anyways, lets get this battle started already!"

"Oh man, this is going to be a cake walk," Kenny said with a grin, then shouted, "Scyther, use Quick Attack!"

"Scyther!" the Bug type shouted and charged the Togepi in a blurr, knocking the Spike Ball Pokemon back.

The Togepi cried out and bounced off the ground a couple times before landing on it's feet agian.

"Man, what does this Pokemon even know?" Sara said as she quickly took her Pokedex out and scanned the Togepi with it.

"Togepi, the Spike Ball Pokemon. Togepi are said to store happiness in it's ball that it shares with kindhhearted people. One of it's most well known moves is Metronome."

"Metronome, huh?" Sara said, then put her 'dex away. "Well, I guess it's better then nothing. Togepi, use Metronome!"

"Togepi!" the Togepi said happily, then started to move it's tiny arms back and forth. It did that for a little bit before stopping. Suddenly, it started to jump up and down happily.

"...Someone please tell me that isn't Splash....please...someone..." Sara whimpered.

Kenny just started to laugh right out loud, doubling over as he did so. "Ah man! How bad is that!" He shouted, then controlled himself enough to say, "Scyther, use another Quick Attack!"

"Scyther!" The Mantis Pokemon said, once again charging the Togepi and knocking it back again.

After landing once more, Sara said, "Okay, this is not good. But, Togepi, use Metronome again!!"

"Toge!" The Spike Ball Pokemon said, then started to move it's arms back and forth once more. When it stopped, there was a pause...before it started to jump up and down again.

".....This isn't happening...this isn't happening...this is just so not happening..." Sara kept repeating to herself as she watched her tempary Pokemon use Splash once more.

This time, both Kenny and the Scyther doubled over laughing, neither believing their luck! "Oh dear Mew! This is just too good! This is just too good!" The boy shouted, then shook his head and, while still lauging a bit, said, "Scyther, another Quick Attack if you don't mind."

"Scyth!" The Scyther said, then knocked the Togepi over in a blurr of speed. When it landed, it was clear that the Pokemon was nearly at it's limit and would soon faint. Kenny noticed this and grinned.

"Togepi use Mentronome again!!" Sara screamed, wanting at least one more shot before this was over.

"Toge..." The Togepi said as it got back up and started to move it's arms again, closing it's eyes as it did so.

"Alright Scyther, lets finish this and use one last Quick Attack!" Kenny ordered, pointing dramtically at the poor beaten Togepi. He then grinned widely, knowing that the battle was his.

"Scyther scythe!" The Scyther said and once again moved towards the Spiked Ball Pokemon.

But just before the mantis reached the Normal Type, Togepi stopped moving it's arms, opened it's eyes and let out a loud roar. But it wasn't the kind of roar you would expect to hear from an actual Roar attack. This roar made the Togepi's body glow and send a visible sound wave at the Scyther. The sound wave effectively knocked the Scyther back and continued to grow in size and power. Before anyone knew it, the whole back side of the Battle Tent exploded and burst apart.

There was some dirt that was kicked up from the attack so no one could see. When the dust settled, both Kenny and the Scyther were about ten feet from where they were originally, both seeming to be knocked out. Even the man who greeted Sara was knocked back about 5, though he was well enough to stand back up and staggar over to what used to be the arena. The only ones who weren't affected were Sara herself and the Togepi.

"Wha...what was that?" Sara asked, blinking a few times.

"I don't know..." the man said as he reached the girl. "But something tells me I shouldn't be using that Togepi for a little bit...or at least teach him a move other then Metronome..." He sighed, then looked at Sara and gave a shakey smile. "Well, I guess you won. Would you like to see you're prize?"

"Yeah...sure..." Sara said, too shocked by what the little Togepi had done to give the proper happiness at what happened. Not that she needed to, the Togepi was bouncing around and crying out happily for quite a few people.

"Right..." the man said, seeming to agree with her mood. "Well...it's this way."

Sara just nodded as she followed the man, returning the Togepi back to his ball before it could cause anymore damage. She also looked back at Kenny and the Scyther he used, wondering if they would be okay. But that soon left her mind as she finally realized that she had actually won. Sara smiled to herself and followed the man with more energy in her step.

Charzeon - I'm trying to imagine a Togepi roaring, but it's not coming to me xD Great post, I liked it.

Sara received a 5 Potions!

Route 203

Route 203 is a recently plotted path leading up to the entrance of the Oreburgh Gate. The road is rough, with a dirt road going toward the entrance. There's a small pond with some water Pokémon, but most of the road is still forest-like, with stairs cut out of rock for smoother passage.

Remember, creativity is the key to an Eggmove!

Kenny stood at the edge of town and peered out into the disatnce and he could see plenty of trees and even a pond. He bent down and pulled out the bow that Mr. Peters gave him while in the mart and asked Pichu if she wanted to where it.
Pichu smiled and quickly grabbed the bow out of Kenny's had and threw it up right under her left ear.

"You look really cute Pichu." Kenny said smiling at Pichu watching her jump up and down. He pulled the newly received apri ball and stared at it. Kenny twisted the apriball and held his hand out releasing the pokemon that was inside. The turtwig quickly shook its head and then smiled at Kenny wagging its tail.

"Turtwig how would you like to come with me on my adventure?" Kenny asked not wanting to take the pokmon against its will. Turtwig turned and looked out into the wonderous world and then turned back to Kenny. Walking closer to Kenny turtwig rubbed against his legs. "Looks like I have my answer."

Ready to head out into the route Kenny took a deep breath and walked with his head up high. Pichu jumped on Turtwigs back not wanting to walk. Turtwig didn't seem to mind that Pichu sat on its back and walked normally.

"Hey Kenny what's up!" A familiar voice yelled from the pond area. Kenny turned to the right and saw Dustin walking up to him.

"Hey Dustin." Kenny said some what disappointed. Dustin wrapped his arm around Kenny's neck and then smiled. Looking down at Kenny's pokemon noticing the Turtwig.

"Awesome you have a second pokemon. We should have a battle right now."

"What another battle." Kenny said throwing his head down.

"Ah come on buddy. If you win I will give you something worthwhile." Kenny knew he could not pass up a chance to get an item.

"Okay I will do it." Kenny said with no emotion.

Kenny and Dustin made their way next to the pond where they seen plenty of Magikarp flopping on the coast and wooper spraying berries at each other. Turtwig smiled as it seemed to like its surroundings while Pichu wanted to avoid the water as much as possible because she did not want to get her bow wet. Dustin stopped by the pond and threw some water in his face and then got up.

"Kenny you need to make your way to that tree over there. We will fight right by it." Kenny nodded and then made his way to the tree. Looking around to get a feel for the enviroment.

"Okay Kenny you choose your first pokemon."

"Well I guess I will go with Turtwig." Turtwig turned its head towards Pichu and then nodded. Pichu jumped ouff of Turtwig's back so that it could fight.

"Nice you are using your new pokemon. I will too. Go Onix!" A gigantic snake like pokemon came out that was composed of several boulders. Its head was longer than the other boulders and it also had something that looked like a fin on its head.

"Okay Turtwig use tackle." Turtwig jumped up and shook its head and then charged in at the large snake pokemon. Jumping from side to side trying to confuse its opponent.

"Onix use bind now." The Snake pokemon let out a roar then threw its tail at Turtwig. Jumping up to try to dodge the attack, Turtwig was hit by the tail and went flying into the pond.

"Turtwig!" Kenny said running to the pond. Turtwig was pulling itself out of the water panting frantically with water dripping from its body.

"Onix quick use another bind." Onix threw its tail at Turtwig struggling to get up. Turtwig saw the tail coming and the dove back in the water.

"Turtwig use tackle." Kenny yelled out figuring out what Turtwig was doing.
Turtwig jumped out of the water and then dove back in making a big splash. The splash made its way and covered onix in water and knocked the Magikarp back in the water and knocking the berries that the Wooper were playing with in the water. Onix let out a roar not liking the water on its body.

"Onix use screech!" The rock snake threw its head towards the ground and pointed it mouth in the direction of Turtwig. Releasing a high pitch roar and it traveled over the water. Turtwig crawled out of the water and then looked at the rock pokemon and then gave a smile.

"Turtwig use tackle." Turtwig charged at the snake's head.

"Onix use Mudsport." The rock snake began to roll around kicking up dirt and mud making it fly in the air. Turtwig leaped into the air and then tackled the pokemon's face right under the eye. The snake pokemon let out a roar in pain.
Dustin knew his pokemon was suffering from the water that was splashed on it.

"Onix use bind." the pokemon's tail wrapped around the tiny turtle pokemno and then its grip became tighter and tighter. Turtwig was in a lot of pain screaming as the snake tightened its grip.

"Turtwig use tackle." The turtle pokemon shifted from side to side until it broke free from its grip and then it ran along the rock pokemon's muddy body and then tackled it in its face once again. This blow knocked the pokemon to the ground knocking it out.

"Return Onix. You did a great job."

"Great job Turtwig." Turtwig turned towards its trainer and smiled while it panted.

""Go Pikachu you are up." A medium sized yellow mouse came up out the pokeball and then began to get in a fighting position. "I will show you what I got from the battle tent. Pikachu use shockwave!" Pikachu began to gather up energy from around its body and then released a blue wave of electricity from its body. The attack made contact with Turtwig surrounding its body in a blue static field.

"Turtwig use tackle." Turtwig shook off the attack and then charged at Pikachu. Pikachu stood there and smiled letting the pokemon hit it. Pikachu fell to the ground and then quickly got up brushing the dirt off of it.

"See Pikachu has gotten a lot tougher than before. Now Pikachu shockwave." Pikachu began to gather energy like before. Kenny and turtwig looked around to find a way to get out of the attack. He looked towards the mud spot that Dustin's last pokemon left.

"Turtwig run to that muddy spot over there and roll around in it." Turtwig ran to the spot and began to roll around in the mud as Pikachu released its attack. This time the attack had no effect on turtwig because it was covered and mud.

"Now use tackle Turtwig." Turtwig charged at Pikachu once again.

"Pikachu use focus punch." Pikachu's hand began to glow a bright blue. Letting Turtwig come into range Pikachu swung its arm hitting turtwig in its chin sending it into the air.

"Turtwig!" Kenny shout as it came back down into the water. Turtwig floated back to the top knocked out. "Return Turtwig you did an awesome job."

"Haha you see my Pikachu is awesome." Dustin said flexing his arm. Kenny got down on his knee and looked at Pichu.

"Pichu you don't have to battle if you don't want to. I will still love you." Pichu looked up at Kenny and smiled at him. Taking out the bow he gave him and then jumped onto the battlefield. "Okay then lets do this."

"Pikachu use shockwave." Pikachu charged up its attack
"Pichu use thundershock." Pichu also began to charge her attack. Both pokemon stared at each other as if they hate each other. Pikachu and pichu released their attack clashing into each other. The two attacks began to make a ball of energy. The attacks exploded making a smoke cloud.

"Pichu use present." Pichu made a wrapped box appear above her head and placed it in front of herself to act as a decoy. As she made her escape into the smoke Pikachu came looking for her. Seeing something in the smoke Pikachu shouted and jumped on the figure.

"Use focus punch before it runs away." Pikachu charged its hand as the smoke cleared showing that the thing Pikachu caught was a box. Before Pikachu could get away it exploded sending Pikachu in the water.

"Pichu use thundershock as it gets out." Kenny shouted hoping to end the battle quickly. Pikachu got out of the water to see Pichu charging her attack.

"Now use substitute." Pikachu let out a shout and a cloud of smoke appeared in front of Pikachu and was replaced by a life like doll of Pikachu as the smoke cleared. Releasing the attack on Pikachu it exploded and nothing remained. Pichu began to look around to see if she could she Pikachu from all the other pokemon that had gathered to see the battle.

"Now Pikachu use Shockwave." Pikachu jumped out the water and began to charge its attack.

"Pichu use thundershock again." Both pokemon released their attack at the same time but this time two attacks passed by each other and headed for the other pokemon. Pichu getting shocked by the shockwave and then falling to the ground from the damage of the attack and its on thundershock. Pikachu was shocked it then and fell into the pond.

Pichu made it back onto her feet and she panted looking to see what happened to her opponent. Pikachu floated to the top of the pond it was twitching and unconscious.

"No Pikachu this was not supposed to happen again." Dustin said returning it to its pokeball. Kenny ran up to Pichu and gave her a hug and congratulated her for her second win over Pikachu. Pichu looked at Kenny and smiled. Taking the bow back out of his pocket and handing it back to Pichu. She placed it on her left ear once again.

"That was a good battle Kenny."

"Yeah Dustin. If it wasn't for the water I would have lost to your first pokemon."

"The next time we battle we will not be next to any water and I will win just you wait."

Kenny smiled as he went into his bag and gave Pichu a potion to help recover some of her strength. Dustin got his bag and headed back for Jubilife city. Kenny then called out his turtwig and gave it a potion to get its strength up.

His pokemon still looked tired so he decided to let them rest a bit before they moved on so Kenny sat sat down and watched the pokemon in the wild run around and play as his pokemon rested.

Koroc - Looks like Kenny has gotten himself something of a rival. Good post, I really liked the usage of the water.

Turtwig gained exp, grew to lv. 6 and learned Withdraw!
Pichu gained exp, grew to lv. 10 and learned Thunder Wave!

Sara stood on the very edge of Jublife City, looking out at the forest and the small, hard to find road at that went through it. The girl sighed as she looked at it, then at the white TM in her hand. It was the TM she had won from that man who ran the Battle Tent. The girl tilted her head at the disk as she thought back to what the man said about this TM.

"For a well fought and very surprising match, I award you this TM 27. Also known as Return," the man said as he gave the girl the TM.

"Return?" Sara asked, frowning slightly. "I haven't heard of that move before. What does it do?"

"Return is a very specially move, and powerful in the right hands," the man explained. "It's power depends on how much the Pokemon likes you. If the Pokemon really likes you, then it will return the favor by giving a powerful attack. However, if the Pokemon doesn't really like you, then the attack won't do much of anything. I suggest you think carefully before deciding whether or not to use it on a Pokemon."

"Huh...does sound like a pretty good attack," Sara said, turning the TM this way and that. "I'm sure that Angela likes me a bit...but does she like me enough for this move to even do anything? But it's not like I can just give it to Yansa either...now that I think about it, I haven't taken that girl out of her pokeball once! Well...I guess I should put this TM away for now. Might as well wait for the right time."

The girl put the TM back into her pack, then started to walk into route 203. She considered on whether or not she should take Angela back out, but then decided against it. There would probably be times in which the ghost will have to stay in the ball of a while. Might as well get her used to it. Plus, if the new trianer really needed her, then she would call her out quickly.

"Speaking of that," Sara said to herself as she went a bit deeper into the route, "I should probably look for another Pokemon. Hopefully a strong one too so that-"

The girl suddenly stopped herself when, right in front of her, there suddenly appeared an Abra. The yellow, almost cat-like Pokemon slumped down and seemed to be asleep. Sara blinked in surprise, then grinned happily.

"Oh wow, an Abra!" Sara said, then reached into her pack and took out her Pokedex. She aimmed it at the Abra and waited for the machine to process the information.

"Abra, the Psi Pokemon. It sleeps for 18 hours a day. Even while awak, it teleports while sitting down."

"Huh, that's pretty cool," Sara said, as she put the 'dex away. She then pulled out a pokeball away and grinned at the Abra.

"Alright now. Let's go!" She shouted as she threw the ball at the Abra. But, just before the ball would had hit the Psi Pokemon, it suddenly teleported away. The girl blinked, then looked around her. "Hey, where did it go!?"

The Abra reappeared in a tree a bit above Sara. The girl turned around and growled at the Pokemon. "Oh no, there's no way that you're gonna get away from me!" Sara said, then took out another Pokeball. "Pokeball, go!" She shouted as she threw the ball at the Abra.

But, just like the first time, the Abra teleported out of the way before the ball could connect. It reappeared infront of some bushes. Sara yelled in furstration and picked up another Pokeball. This this ball actually held a Pokemon in it, Yansa the Starly to be exact.

"I'll show you not to mess with me!" Sara yelled as she threw the ball up. "Yansa! Come out!"

The red and white ball opened up and, in a flash of light, the Starly appeared already flying. Yansa let out a happy cry as she flew around in a circle once, happy to finally be out of the ball. Sara smiled slighlty before turning back to the Abra. "Now, Yansa, use a Quick Attack on that Abra!" She ordered.

"Starly!" Yansa called out and charged at the Abra in a blurr. But, sadly, she still wasn't fast enough as the Abra once again teleported, making the bird fly into the bushes.

"Oh man, not again," Sara muttered, turning around in an attempt to find the Pokemon. She frowned when she realized that the Abra was no where in sight. Then there was a loud and startled cry and the new trainer turned around to see Yansa get thrown out of the bushes, a light aura surrounding her. She then crashed into a tree and it was only then that the aura went away.

"Yansa!" Sara cried out, then turned around as she heard the bushes rustle. Slowly, a small Pokemon with a white body and a green head with two red horns sticking out of the front and back appeared. Though Sara could only see it's mouth and nothing of it's eyes, she felt that the Pokemon was quite angry. She wondered breifly if Yansa had hit this Pokemon while trying to hit the Abra.

"What is it?" Sara asked herself as she took her 'dex out again and aimmed at the strange Pokemon. Soon a picture appeared on the 'dex and text appeared once more.

"Ralts, the Feeling Pokmeon. It uses the horns on it's head to sense human emotion, it is said to appear in front of cheeful people."

"Or if it's really angry," Sara muttered under her breath, then put the pokedex away. "Well, if it wants a fight, the it'll get one! Yansa, are you okay?"

"Starly..." Yansa grunted, then flapped her wings a few times so that she was once again up in the air. Sara smiled, happy to see how egar the bird was to fight back, then turned back to the Ralts.

"Alright Yansa, use a Tackle!" Sara yelled out to her Pokemon.

"Starly!" Yansa shouted, charging the Ralts and knocking it back a bit with her full body attack. The Ralts cried out as it was hit, but was able to land on it's feet again. It seemed to glare at Yansa before letting out a low Growl, making the bird shiver slightly.

"Huh, this battle may take a bit longer," Sara muttered, then shouted, "Okay Yansa, use Quick Attack!"

The Starly nodded before charging the Ralts in a blurr of speed. The Ralts cried out more as it was knocked back further then before and even hit a tree. But the Feeling Pokemon quickly got back up and bared it's little teeth at the bird. Yansa smirked back, but that was her mistake.

The Ralts let out a difiant yell and a light aura seemed to surround it. Soon, Yansa was covered in the same aura and, before she could do anything, she was slammed into a tree. The Starling Pokemon was then slammed against the ground, then at another tree, then...

"Yansa!" Sara shouted when she realized that the Ralts wasn't going to stop soon. The Starly cried out as it tried to get out of the Ralt's mental grip, but it was useless. Finally, the Ralts threw her at a tree and let go.

Yansa hit the ground and just lay there, seeming to be unconious. Sara growled, more at herself then anything else, and took out Yansa's pokeball. "I'm so sorry, return Yansa." A red light came out of the ball and the bird returned to it's ball.

Sara turned once more to the Ralts, who was now smirking at her. She glared back before taking out Angela's ball. "Oh, you are so gonna pay for that!" The girl growled, then threw the ball up into the air. "Anggy, get out here and show this Ralts who's boss!"

The ball opened and, in a flash of light, the Puppet Pokemon appeared. She looked around herself before seeing the smirking Ralts. Angela narrowed her eyes at the Feeling Pokemon and positioned herself for battle. The Ralts frowned, feeling the determination coming off of the ghost, but also got itself ready for another battle.

"Alright Angela, first off use Screech!" Sara ordered.

"Shup!" Angela said, then let out a loud, screeching like sound, casuing the Ralts to flinch slightly.

Before Sara could call out another order, the Ralts recovered and was once again surrounded by the same aura as before. This aura was soon also on Angela and, before either could react, the Ralts slammed the ghost into a tree.

"Will it ever get tired of that Confusion attack?" Sara grunted, then shouted, "Come on Angela! You can get out of it! Don't let this thing beat you!"

"Shu..." Angela grunted and did her best to fight against the mental hold. The Ralts smirked once more, thinking that it had once again won. But, when it thought that, it loosened it's hold on Angela, giving the Ghost what she needed to break the hold.

"Alright Anggy!" Sara called out happily. "Now, quick, use a Payback!"

"Shuppet shup!" Angela cried out and charged at the Ralts, hitting it with her darkness covered horn.

Now, the Ralts was already weaken slightly from it's battle with Yansa. Then, it suffered a Screech attack which sharply lowered it's defences. Then it got hit with the Payback which, it is not only weak against, but the attack's power was double since Angela was hit first and...well, I think you see were we're going with this.

The Ralts cried out much louder then before as it was hit with the attack and skidded across the ground a couple time. It laid there for a little bit, then tried to push itself back up. Sara blinking, not believing that this Pokemon still had some fight left in it. But then, the Ralt's arms collapsed on it and it fell back down.

Both Angela and Sara waited a breath to see what would happen. But, nothing did happen. It seemed as though the battle was really over. Sara let out the breath she had been holding in, then took out a Pokeball and threw it at the Ralts. The ball hit the Ralts on the head, then opened up and the Feeling Pokmeon disappeared inside it in a red light. The ball then landed on the ground and started to twitch.

The ball twitched once....it twitched twice...then it twiched a third time....

Charzeon - Good post, I like your use of Abra in the first part.

Congratulations, Sara caught a male lv. 4 Ralts!

Bryce and the trainer followed the attendant to another room in the tent. She handed them both a disk. She turned toward Bryce who seemed confused.

"Even though you lost, you fought well. It's not always about who's stronger, or who wins. It's about how well you battle and bond with the Pokémon that you are partnered with." She then turned towards the other trainer.

"You did well. Though the odds were against you, you handled the situation wisely. This is also yours." She handed the boy a disk. "I look forward to possibly seeing you both in the future.

As the two left the tent, the boy came up to Bryce.

"I had fun battling you. You really had me in a bind there."

"Yeah, well you just got lucky this time. Don't expect it to happen again." At this, the boy grinned and went in the opposite direction.

"I knew you couldn't win." It was the kid from the cafeteria. "Even though that match was basically yours, you blew it." He laughed.

"Like I said, it was luck." Bryce was getting pretty annoyed. If he were using his Mankey, then he would have won. That Ponyta was just weak. That's all there was to it. He left the trainer without saying a farewell or anything. He headed toward Route 203.

The route was a stretch of forest that led to the Oreburgh Gate. There was a dirt road leading toward the path. Takumi saw other trainers walking down the path. He looked forward to battling someone. Even more, he looked forward to catching another Pokémon.

There was a nearby pond which Bryce decided to go toward. He and Mankey approached the pond. A Surskit was skating across the water. It looked like it was having a blast. He got closer and aimed his Pokedex at the Pokémon. The description on the screen said:

"Surskit, the Pond Skater Pokémon. Surskit inhabits ponds, rivers, and similar wetlands. They move about as if it was skating the water's surface."

There was also a Wooper playing in the water, next to the Surskit. The Pokedex also picked up its information:

"Wooper, the Water Fish Pokémon. Though they prefer to live in cold water, these appealing Pokémon forage for food on land. They are kept warm by a layer of insulating body fluid. Wooper is the pre-evolved form of Quagsire."

A Magikarp splashed around.

"Well," he said to no one in particular, "what say we catch us a Water Pokémon. After all, our battle with Roark is coming up soon." He approached the pond in so that he could possibly catch one of the Pokémon. He fixed his gaze on a Surskit and reached for his Pokeball.

"Hold it right there!" Bryce almost fell into the pond from the sudden yell. "I challenge you to a battle!"

The wild Pokémon in the pond ran away, frightened by the trainer's yelling.

"Hey," Bryce said, "you ruined my catch."

"What catch? I didn't see you battling anyone." This guy was annoying Bryce already and it hadn't even been five minutes yet. "Anyways, I challenge you to a battle."

"You said that already. I accept!" Bryce grabbed his Pokeballs in an attempt to decide which one he would send out first.

"Ah, you have two Pokémon! I change my mind! Let's make it a double battle!"

Bryce had never done a double battle yet. This could be fun, he thought. "Alright then, I accept your challenge. Mankey! Shinx! Come on out!"

The two Pokémon appeared from a flash of light made by the Pokeballs. The trainer tossed two Pokeballs that had been strapped to his belt. Out came an Abra and a Surskit.

"I just caught these Pokémon 30 minutes ago. I wanna see how well they train." The trainer looked proud of his catch.

Oh great, Bryce thought, you catch Pokémon and interrupt me.

"Mankey use Low Kick on Abra! Shinx, tackle Surskit!"

"Abra, use teleport! Surskit dodge and use growl!"

The trainer's Surskit jumped into the air. When it landed, it immediately used growl and the Shinx, lowering its attack. Meanwhile, Abra teleported all the way to another end of the field.

"Mankey, get that Abra any way you can."

"Abra, don't get hit! Surskit, use Bubble!"

"Shinx, dodge and use tackle again!" Shinx dodged the attack by jumping, landed behind the Surskit, and tackled it from behind. The Surskit took a while before it finally regained his balance. Surskit followed up with another Bubble attack, which was dodged again by Shinx.

"Shinx, use tackle again!" Shinx tackled Surskit from behind once more. The trainer ordered the Pokémon to use another Bubble. Unfortunately (but fortunate for Bryce), Bubble was too slow to hit Shinx. Shinx tackled the Pokémon again.

"Surskit, use Quick Attack!" The trainer gave the order in a tone that said that he was desperate. The Surskit moved at such amazing speed, almost invisible. This time it hit Shinx. Shinx fell to the ground but eventually got back on her feet. Bryce had to do some quick thinking.

Maybe he could double team the Surskit. All Abra was doing was teleporting. It wasn't much of a threat. I have to go for it, he thought.

"Mankey! Forget about Abra and go help Shinx!" Mankey immediately stopped chasing Abra and ran toward the Surskit who was pursuing Shinx once again. He used Low Kick and knocked the Surskit off of his feet. Bryce grinned. Perfect, he thought. Now to finish it off.

"Both of you, tackle it before it gets off of the ground." Both Pokémon charged toward the Surskit. Shinx tackled from the front, and Mankey tackled from the back. The attack hit the Surskit from both sides who stopped moving. Everything seemed to stop for about five minutes. Finally the trainer recalled the Surskit.

There was only Abra, who seemed impossible to catch. Every time the two Pokémon got close to it, Abra seemed to teleport to somewhere farther away from them. Bryce was getting annoyed by this. It was like watching Tom and Jerry, except there were two Toms and one Jerry.

The chase continued for another 10 minutes. At that time, Abra attempted to teleport again, but nothing happened! That's when it ended.

"Mankey and Shinx, use Tackle on Abra!" Both Pokémon tackled Abra again. Abra was unable to move after this, so his trainer recalled him.

"Well, looks like you won." The trainer said. "I guess this is yours." He held out two Oran berries and some money.

"That was a good battle. I'm surprised you were able to figure me out. Abra was only a diversion while Surskit took your Pokémon out, but you stopped that plan. See you around sometime."

"Thanks", Bryce replied. He used the potion on Mankey and Shinx. "Now we can go back to capturing that Pokémon." Bryce and his two Pokémon went back over to the pond; however, the pond was empty.

Then, he saw that the Wooper and Surskit had gone over to a tree. He got his Pokémon ready for battle and issued the command…

Mackie gaped.

Luster had made skid marks in the dirt, she'd been hit so hard.

How had this little thing done THAT?!

The pokedex said it was a Kricketot, and it was round and clumsy-looking and had just stood there, only shifting in vain attempts to dodge, after its first agitated rush at Mackie from the tall grass. Hadn't attacked at all.

Luster had gotten in two good whacks, and then... and then the Kricketot had glared, hotly enough that Mackie almost expected steam to erupt, and bucked forward once, smacking Luster, and Mackie had been ready to roll his eyes...

Except now Luster was picked herself up from the ground, wings vibrating erratically as she buzzed the dust off them.

Mackie didn't like the look of that, not at all. He suddenly realized just how fragile the glass-like wings might be.

"Luster, stop, come back!"

She turned and gave him an annoyed look but he opened her red-striped apri-ball and, with a red flash, she disappeared. He tended to leave them out and roaming, but she looked like she wanted to get back in the fight, and he thought it better that she stay safely out of it, now.

"G'wan out, pretty girl!" He pointed, and the Swablu glided off from his head, heading for the red-and-yellow bug.

The Kircketot let out a little growl at the Swablu. "Don't let it bide its time," Mackie warned her. "Just get in there with a Peck!"

In retrospect he probably should've taught that Aerial Ace TM to Luster... he'd been hesitant, since he'd only have one chance. But it would've been just what she needed against this pokemon.

The Swablu dropped onto the Kricketot and rapped it hard on the head with a Peck, and it shook itself, before settling into that still pose that Mackie now recognized. It was still shifting, and the Swablu wasn't as quick as Luster. Mackie worried that it might have an easier time dodging, and be able to unleash that big attack yet again.

"Keep pecking!" Mackie told her, and she obliged. She circled the shifty-footed bug, then flapped abruptly, moving behind it and getting it on the back.

"Swa!!" she called emphatically after the Peck landed, and as the Kricketot bounced forward and then toppled onto its face, its tiny arms unable to stop the fall.

The Swablu returned to Mackie, then, letting out a satisfied whistle as she settled onto his hat, and he watched warily as the Kricketot rolled itself laboriously onto its back, then sat up. It staggered back into the stand of low bushes that led up to the nearest stand of trees, and Mackie was glad to see it go.

He liked some bugs, he realized, but definitely not all of them.

He went on a little ways, until he found an area that was wide enough to avoid annoying any pokemon hiding out it, and then he let Luster out again.

She settled on the ground, and gave him that buzz that always reminded him of someone blowing a raspberry. "No manners," he said, like he always did, and poked her on the head. "I was only worried 'bout you," he told her, "don't want you busting those pretty wings." He ran his hand through the air just over one of them, like he could protect them just like that.

Luster tilted her head at him, and he had the distinct impression of her thinking "are you serious?"

She leaned slightly to one side, and raised one forewing to press the edge against the palm of his hand.

"Oh," he said, realizing. They looked fragile enough, certainly, but the edge digging into his palm was firm and rigid, and it... bent, sort of. It had a give to it. It wasn't brittle. "Well, I suppose I see your point. Though you can't tell me that you didn't take a good hit back there," he said pointedly, and she shuffled a little bit. "Here, lets fix you up. Drink this..." he unshouldered his pack and dug around inside, pulling out one of the little bottles.

He opened and held it to his nose, sniffing curiously. "Huh," he said. Smelled a little like oran berries--that made sense. "Here now, down the hatch," he held the bottle out, and she came forward to drink. Hesitantly at first, but then more eagerly. He wondered if the stuff was made from oran berries, or just flavoured so it was easy for pokemon to drink. Either way, he was relieved it was palatable.

"See? It's like that," he told the Swablu, and held out the empty bottle. She sniffed at it like he had and then nodded approvingly.

He put the empty bottle away in the trash pocket at the bottom of his back, and had almost zipped everything up again before he remembered.

"Hey Luster, let's do this now." He pulled out the TM, sliding it out of the pack and looking at the instructions again. He'd read them back in town, but he didn't remember most of it.

"Alright, so... activate... here," he followed the steps, turning on the machine. "Check bootup... uh..." he didn't like machinery too much, but he was very careful to check every step twice. The instructions claimed there was no way for this to hurt a pokemon, but better safe, and all that. "Okay. Set, and..."

It made a little sound, barely audible, but it kept Mackie on edge until it was done. The machine itself made a cracking noise. He couldn't see what had broken, but when he picked it up and shook it, he could hear something moving. It reminded him of the broken strand in a burnt-out lightbulb.

Luster, for her part shook her head, and then her whole self. Mackie leaned forward. "So..? Can you show me?" he asked.

Luster shot straight up at that. "Yaaaaaaanma!" she called, sounding enthusiastic and energetic at once.

"Yeah!" Mackie pumped a fist in the air at her. "Okay... right, it said this move never misses. How do we test that?" He looked around for a likely target. "Aha."

He untied his shovel--small, but very functional--from his back and used it to dig up a small clump of grass that was by the edge of the road. The roots were tough, and held the clump together well. It could be thrown easily, and he did just that.

"Okay, Luster! Hit this! Show me Aerial Ace!" He threw it hard, and fast, in the opposite direction from Luster.

She shot past over his head, the buzz of her wings getting louder and suddenly quieter as she sped by. She struck the clump of grass and dirt so hard it pretty much exploded, raining tiny bits down around her. Mackie almost dropped his shovel.

"Swaaaaa," the Swablu said, sounding impressed.

"Wow," echoed Mackie.

Luster zipped back, hovering in front of them, bobbing with satisfaction. She darted off a little ways, then came back. And darted off again.

Mackie grinned. "Oh, I will definitely throw some more for you."

Chapter Two, Part 2

Chuy García
Location: Route 302
The Pokéball suddenly stopped. A red light blinked and a clicking sound was heard signaling that the Pokémon was caught inside the Pokéball. Chuy, however, was still hesitant.

Prof. Rowan had warned him that Pokéballs were pretty new, and weren't reliable enough yet. And he couldn't take in the fact that although it only took a couple of minutes, this had been his first ever capture.

Approaching the ball cautiously, Chuy could feel how his senses were dulling; concentrating on nothing but the red and white object in front of him, until he finally picked it up.

In a matter of less than a second, the expression on Chuy's face changed from fright and nervousness, to utter disbelief and accomplishment. He had done it. No, thinking about it wasn't enough, he held the Pokéball up with his right hand to inspect it from even closer; there was no doubt about it, he had done it. But just thinking about it wasn't enough.

Turning around to face the still-panting Phanpy, Chuy opened his lips, but nothing came out. The utter amazement rendered him mute. Swallowing hard to try and get it out of the way, he opened his lips once again and uttered: "I did it." Right after saying it, something inside him lit up. "I DID IT!!!"

"Phaaanpy!!!" his Pokémon trumpeted triumphantly. It was weird. Chuy hadn't been the one to decide that he would go on a journey. It had been his mom's idea. He hadn't asked for any of this, but here he was, caught up in his achievement, succeeding in an area where he had seen no hope. Being a Pokémon trainer wasn't about money; it wasn't about making a profit, and thus Chuy had not seen a single ray of hope behind it as a profession, but now he was beginning to realize that maybe, just maybe 'this isn't so bad.'

Placing the Pokéball in his bag, Chuy looked towards his Phanpy who was visibly happier than him, wagging his nose much farther than he had done before and trumpeting loudly. 'Of course' Chuy thought. 'This is your accomplishment as much as it is mine.' "Let's go Phanpy!"

Phanpy happy to hear the command, ran towards his trainer, and kneeled, happy to offer a ride to the young child. Excited, Chuy jumped on to his Pokémon's back. "Alright, let's get out of here!"

"Phanpy!" his Pokémon trumpeted before standing in both of his hind legs, and going back to trample whatever came before him.

- - - - - - - - - -

Finally, they were back on Route 302. Chuy gulped hard as he looked back noticing the damage that they had done to the forest. Oops he thought childishly, and simply shrugged it off. He had caught the most amazing Pokémon ever that could fire BLACK LASERS from its eyes! Why would he care about anything else?

Anyways, he decided that ignoring he damage would probably be the best idea at this point, and kept going towards Jubilife City.

During the whole ride, all he ever did was just keep thinking of his new Pokémon, he was so pumped up about it! I mean seriously! Finally after some time of riding on Phanpy, Jubilife finally made itself visible. Finally!/i] thought Chuy as he sighed relieved that he'd finally made it past the route, but whoa!

Being the childish kid that he was, Chuy quickly dismounted his Pokémon when he saw something in the distance… "You!"

"Huh?" a guy, about twenty to twenty-three years old answered the call. "Are you talking to me kid?"

"Yeah!" he answered loudly. "I demand a battle against you!"

The guy however, wasn't going for it. "Ummm… you know kid, I'm just finishing training for today, and my Pokémon are pretty exhausted, I'm sure I would be no match for…"

"Bullshit!" Chuy retorted in a way shocking the man.

"What the?! Watch your language man!"

"I know you're scared of my amazing presence, but you don't have much say in the matter, our eyes met so you have to battle me now!"

"Says who?!" the guy demanded.

"Me!" Chuy answered again cutting him off. "It's part of the trainer code, so give me your name and get ready!"

"Are you serious?" the guy asked. Upon not receiving an answer however, he finally gave in. "Okay my name is Jack"

"Great! I'm Chuy, go Natu!"

"Umm… go Kricketot!" the guy answered not enthusiastic about the battle at all.

"Alright, Natu use your Black Laser Attack!"

"Natu?" the Pokémon questioned not knowing what his trainer's idea was.

'Damn' Chuy thought realizing that the bird Pokémon had no idea what he wanted, and thus quickly consulted his Pokédex…

"What a drag. Kricketot use Bide!"

Chuy kept browsing through his Pokédex in a nervous manner, until: "La la la la la… Finally! Natu use Night Shade!"

Natu's eyes glowed red at the same time as Kricketot, and finally Natu let the black ghastly lasers out which attacked the bug Pokémon strongly.

"Ha ha! Great work Natu, do it again!"

Natu repeated his previous attack, which again was stuffed by the bug Pokémon who seemed to be starting to have problems handling the damage.

"And once mo…"

But Chuy was cut off when suddenly, out of nowhere, Natu just fell to the ground. And Kricketot stood on the other side of the battling area. What had happened? Chuy didn't know, all he knew is that Natu was down and out for the count.

"Wha…"

"That was easy" he heard the guy say interrupting him.

"Shut up! Phanpy destroy that bug with a Tackle!" Phanpy obeyed angered by the fall of his comrade, and utterly destroyed the bug, prompting the older trainer to recall him. "What are you doing the battle isn't over yet, my Phanpy is still up and ready!" he yelled with tears building up in his eyes.

"True." Jack answered coolly. "You win. Here you go." He said handing over some money that Chuy received in a muted state. Had he really won? Is this the way he was supposed to feel? He felt like he… had lost!

Jack appeared to have walked away from the scene, but in a sudden fashion called for Chuy "Kid!"

"My name is Chuy." Was the twelve year-old's answer, but there was no anger or emotion in it, he just said it.

"Come, it's getting late, I'll take you to the Pokémon Center and we'll heal my and your Pokémon, then I want to give you a course on Pokémon battling. But stop crying first."

A tear fell on the side of Chuy's face. "I'm NOT crying!" He then recalled both of his Pokémon and followed the guy to the Pokémon Center. He wasn't a bad person.

Drunk - BLACK LASERS?! lmao that was awesome. You should totally name him Black Laser.

Congratulations, Natu grew to lv. 6!

"So bring back, bring back, bring back my bonnie to me, to me..." Mackie half-sang, half-hummed the old song, one they'd used on the farm often when doing any chore that could be helped along by a steady rhythm.

Sparkle of sun on water caught his attention up ahead, and he grinned, starting the song again at the beginning. "My bonnie lies over the ocean, my bonnie lies over the sea..." He laughed. "Well, it's not a sea, or nothing, but it'll do." He looked up, where his Swablu was riding a breeze, and waved his arm at her. She dipped slightly in response.

Luster was in her apri-ball. He didn't regret it, but the Aerial Ace practice, which had left a good many little holes in the path, a good couple of hours back, had worn her out. She'd been entirely happy about it, but had retired gratefully. Mackie thought it had made up pretty well for her beating from the Kricketot.

Mackie trudged over to the pond edge, finding a grassy hump that overhung the water. Rushes lined the edge, but there were still gaps to see through. It was really pretty—and free of Bidoof bringing trees down.

"So bring back my bonnie to me, to me..." he looked upward, and the Swablu was circling down. He held his arms up to catch her. "Bring back my bonnie to me."

She landed softly against his chest, and he hugged her gently. "Pretty girl," he told her, and she touched her beak to his nose, snuggling her wings around herself comfortably. "Are you my bonnie?" he asked. "I'm not really sure what that is, but it sounds pretty, huh?"

"Swaaaaablu," she said, pulling back to look at him properly, and he looked back at her, and thought, maybe...

"Bonnie?"

"Blu!" she agreed.

"Sure took some sweet time, didn't it, pretty girl?" he said, a little apologetic.

"Swa," she commented. She looked satisfied, so he let it go.

He let her go, and she hunkered down on the grass. He unshouldered his pack and pulled Luster's apri-ball out of the top pocket, tapping it gently. He only got a mild twitch in return, so he put it away again. He'd give her another half hour before checking again. He wanted to make sure she had a snack at least, before they got going. And he thought she'd enjoy the pond, too.

He unpacked a little, pulling one of the sacks of trail mix he'd made up before the trip, along with one of the apples from Jubilife City and some crackers. He set some aside for Bonnie, who nibbled happily.

Laying back on the grass while he ate the apple, he watched the sky through half-closed eyes, tracking the clouds. When the apple was done, he rolled over onto his belly and scooted forward until he could look down from the little overhang into the pond. He nibbled on some crackers and watched the water ripple.

A cloud passed over the sun, and reflection on the surface changed. He could see through the clear water into the shallows.

He saw shapes moving just a little too far to make out clearly. "Hrrm," he murmured around a mouthful of cracker, and crumbled the next one into smaller pieces. He tossed one out onto the water's surface, and waited to see if anything would happen.

It sat and drifted for a few seconds, and then the water's surface broke with a sizeable splash, and Mackie caught a flash of red.

"Oho," Mackie said, and tossed another couple of bits out, closer this time.

Against the dull brown bottom of the pond, Mackie saw the shapes approach, and he made out tall oval shapes with fins. When the next splash came, he rolled over to his pack and snagged his pokedex, opening it up. He made sure it didn't get too close to the water, though.

When he settled down again, the shapes were right there, red and big-eyed and slow-looking. The fish looked ungainly at first sight, but they were, in fact, moving rather gracefully. At least until the next cracker crumbs landed, and there was sudden thrashing and splashing to the surface.

Mackie looked over at the pokedex, but he was already pretty sure what these were. Yes—Magikarp. Silly things, they were supposed to be. Sometimes people used them in ornamental ponds.

He tossed the last bits of cracker out, waiting for the next spate of thrashing, but this time a new shape darted through, scattering the Magikarp and breaking the surface in a graceful leap before splashing back down.

Mackie pushed himself up on his hands, staring down, trying to make out the new arrival, but it wasn't--

And the shape was racing forward again, it broke the surface and Mackie scrambled back before it hit him in the face.

"Wooop, wooper," it said, blue and shiny, and if this pokemon had been graceful underwater, it certainly wasn't now, waddling on tiny legs.

It had a distinct frown on its face, and Mackie scrambled back. "Bonnie?" he called, starting to smile at calling her name for a battle for the first time. "Astonish!"

Bonnie bounced into the air and dropped down between Mackie and the Wooper. She flung out her wings and screeched, and the Wooper jumped and hopped backwards, then its feet slid against the edge of the overhang and splashed backwards into the water.

"Swa swa swa!" Bonnie laughed, flying upward and banking over the pond, hovering over a shallow area half-obscured by rushes. The Wooper was close behind. It spun on its legs, dragging its tail through the muddy edge of the pond, and whipping it forward.

Bonnie rose in the air and the clumps of mud fell to the ground. "Hahaha, you don't want to get muddy," Mackie laughed. Ground couldn't touch flying—but that fact was even more perfect for a Swablu. "Now Peck!"

The Wooper scrambled back, getting just deep enough to swim while still mostly on the surface. It ducked its head briefly and came up spitting water. The Water Gun attack hit Bonnie, knocking her off course a little bit, but she recovered and dove in, catching the Wooper with a Peck. "Keep on it, Bonnie!"

And she did, weaving between the rushes and trading blows. The wet smack of a Tail Whip came while he couldn't see her, but then she came around a thick stand of rushes, a Water Gun attack narrowly missing her from behind. She swooped into a graceful turn and caught the Wooper with a final Peck on the head that made it splash onto its back, tail flopping for a few seconds, before it wriggled back into deeper water and vanished.

"My Bonnie!" Mackie cheered, and she dipped in her flight again, like a little bow. He grinned. He was started to get the impression that her attacks weren't so strong, but that she could take attacks pretty well. Not a bad tradeoff, he thought.

She came to land on the grassy hill again, and preened, tidying her battle-mussed feathers. Mackie went to wipe the pokedex screen down from where the Wooper had splashed it, and resettled, belly-down, on his resting spot.

He kicked his bare feet in the air behind him, and broke another cracker up, trying to see if he could entice those Magikarp back again.

Broadway - Bonnie? That's sweet, I like it.

Congratulations, Bonnie grew to lv. 9 and learned Sing!

Chapter Three

Chuy García
Location: Jubilife City
Chuy woke up on a strange bed when the sunlight hit him through a window. Quickly getting up he looked around, and saw the familiar white tile of Pokémon Centers. Looking around he found his bag, his shoes, and his jacket.

"Phew" he sighed suddenly remembering about that one guy who had brought him to Jubilife." Jack was his name. Chuy got up and dressed up quickly before heading down to the main room downstairs.

"Good morning" a sweet-sounding nurse said as they crossed.

"Morning" he answered bluntly. You see, Chuy was one of the cool guys, he couldn't let himself be seen talking to a GIRL. I mean… come on! Looking around, he found the person he had been looking for. "Jack!"

The man looked up from his newspaper, and invited the kid to sit down and have breakfast with him. "Hey Chuy! Welcome to the town of happiness where people gather. Good, so you didn't forget about our Pokémon class, huh?"

Chuy simply nodded in reponse. But he had to admit that he was eager to learn whatever he could. During the walk to Jubilife, Jack had told Chuy that he was not only a trainer, but also a breeder. That the Pokémon he had battled before was a baby, and that the league was stronger than what Chuy thought. After all, he had been among the first to challenge it, and had failed to beat the Elite Four (which meant he already had eight badges). "Alright…" Jack said looking like he was ready to begin, but promptly stopped upon seeing an approaching waitress. "Do you want to eat anything?"

"Sure, I'll take a vegetable, beans, and bacon omelet" Chuy told the waitress adding: "and an orange juice"

"She replied with an "Okay" and an "Is that everything?" before heading back to the kitchen. Waitresses were an exception… you can talk to them since you're just ordering them around.

"Alright, so do you know what was the first mistake you did yesterday when we battled?"

"I didn't know the name of my Pokémon's move?" Chuy asked knowing full well that THAT was the reason he lost.

"Very well, anything else?"

"Umm… no?"

"Alright, so first of all, you didn't know your Pokémon, what he can do, how strong he is, you get it. Second, …"

"Wait, how do you know that Natu's a he?"

Jack blinked twice looking at Chuy, and replied with a "Don't worry about it."

"Anyways," he continued. "You had a type advantage over me and you didn't use it. You decided to go with the move that looked cooler when a simple Peck would've been much more effective."

"What… How?" Chuy asked puzzled as he grabbed his fork and began to eat his omelet rapidly, munching loudly.

"Every Pokémon has one or two types, alright? There are seventeen different types, and each of these types is strong or weak against other types." He went on to clean his mouth, and drink the rest of his coffee. "Take your Natu for example. It is part Psychic, and part Flying, and pit it against my Kricketot who's just a Bug-type. A Bug-type attack would be strong against Psychic, but weak against Flying, thus would do normal damage to your Natu. Your Natu had two attacks it could use…"

"Wait!" Chuy demanded with his mouth still full. "How did you know that?"

Jack answered plainly with a: "Because I'm amazing, now shut up and let me finish." Shutting Chuy up. "Okay, let's see, where were we? Right! Natu could use two attacks, Night Shade and Peck. Night Shade is a Ghost-type attack, and thus only does normal damage against my Bug-type Pokémon. Peck on the other hand being a Flying-type attack would've done double damage. Alright, I drew a type chart, and I want you to memorize it alright?" As he said this last part, he handed a napkin with a chart drawn on it.

"I've seen this before!" Chuy exclaimed at the sight, however and quickly took out his Pokédex. After navigating for less than a minute, Chuy showed Jack the screen, where all the type advantages and disadvantages were written out by category.

Jack was less than amused however, and promptly tore the napkin in two, then four, then eight, and then sixteen. Chuy didn't seem to mind and after finishing his omelet downed his orange juice in one gulp.

"Alright smartass, let's see if you can use that thing in real life. Let's go!" Jack grabbed Chuy by the collar, and pulled him out of the Pokémon Center walking him to what he called, the Battle Tower.

"Come on let go!" Chuy yelled as he struggled to free himself. "I don't even have my Pokémon with m…"

"Don't need them."

"I can walk by myself though!" he protested.

"No need, we're here" turning around towards Chuy he continued: "Let's go in."

"Please form a line, and take an apri-ball in order." Jack went to the back of the line still holding Chuy by the collar, who kept struggling to free himself.

"He's my brother." He kept telling whoever looked at him.

"Do you want to learn about battling, yes or no?" he hissed at Chuy's ear, finally calming him down.

Finally they were in the front, "Please pick whichever you like." The attendant said in a carefree manner.

Chuy was hesitant. 'Which to pick, which to pick?'

Jack, on the other hand, didn't care as much. Grabbing the closest ball to himself he pushed Chuy along "You get this one. Now stop being such a wuss and let's go out there and kick some ass!"

Chuy didn't have many objections to this, although he would still have liked to pick his own apri-ball.

After having chosen the apri-ball, he was led outside by another attendant. Once in the battlefield, Jack began his pep talk. "Alright, first things first, we gotta take a look at whatever Pokémon you got in there, you don't want the same thing to happen twice do you?"

"Shut up" Chuy retorted. He already knew that… right? He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, he could feel the soft wind gently caressing his face as it traveled by. The gentle pulsation of the Earth reverberated under his feet, the rustic fabric of the apri-

"Will you hurry up?!" Jack interrupted. "Your opponent will be here any minute, so hurry up won't you?"

"I know" Chuy answered clearly annoyed by the interruption. Thus, he turned the knob on the apri-ball, and out came…

"Buneary!"

"You got to be kidding me…" Chuy was clearly disappointed with his… wait… "Jack?"

"Yeah?"

"Don't ever… EVER… pick for someone else will you?"

"Shut up." Jack said. "Actually, Buneary is one of the first Pokémon I ever caught, and they're pretty good…"

"Then you battle with it… I'm out" Chuy interrupted his elder with a voice devoid of emotion. That thing was… pathetic. It was such a girly Pokémon, that Chuy would quite possibly kill himself if one of his friends ever saw him commanding it. Seriously.

"Chuy, if you want to become good at battling, you need to learn to adapt, that's part number one of this exercise, are you really gonna give up like that?"

"Yup." Shortly after answering however, Chuy felt something grab him by the arm. "I said… Ouch". Suddenly, rather than standing, Chuy found himself on the floor, looking directly at the Buneary he had gotten. He heard Jack say:

"I want to help you because I see promise in your enthusiasm. I could've utterly destroyed your puny team with my babies if I had so wanted, look at yourself! You promised me to give it your best, and that's what you're gonna do!"

"Leave me alone!" Chuy demanded

"Look man, think about it like this, if you're able to win this one battle, with a Pokémon you dislike… how much will you learn to do with those on your team? Are you willing to keep looking at your Natu fall before every opponent he faces?"

Chuy whimpered a little bit, and got up in a sudden motion. "No. I won't allow neither Natu nor Phanpy to ever faint again."

"Then go do what you gotta do man"

Without another word, Chuy wiped the mud that formed under his mouth from the dirt and saliva, and rolled up his sleeves. "Alright, let's see what you got" he told the Buneary as he took out his Pokédex and scanned it…

Not much time later, another boy entered the field. He appeared to be around fifteen years old, and came in with two of his friends. "You ready?" The referee asked once both boys were in position. "Fight!"

The other boy was the first to release his Pokémon. "Go Drifloon!"

"Go Buneary!"

"Aww… isn't that cute?" he heard one of his opponent's friends tease.

'Shut up' Chuy thought angered by the comment. This guys acted like they owned the place, like if no one else was important, like his friends back in Pacifidlog. He turned around towards Jack for moral support, but noticed that he wasn't there anymore.

"Don't turn around brat!" he heard his opponent yell. "Drifloon, use Constrict!"

"Drifloooooon" the Pokémon cried as it rapidly floated towards the cute Pokémon, and wrapped it with its stringy arms. And although it didn't seem to do much damage, it was clear that Buneary was less than enjoying the awkward hug.

"Buneary use Splash to get out of there!"

"What an idiot!" One of his opponent's friends said, "That doesn't even make s– What the f–" Some way or another, Buneary was able to get out of the hold that Drifloon had gotten her in.

"Shut up you fool!" Chuy's opponent yelled at his friend. "You jinxed it! Drifloon, go for Constrict again! He roared.

"Buneary, use Defense Curl!" Drifloon had creeped all the way towards the Normal-type Pokémon, but right before it wrapped it up again, Buneary had rolled into a ball, hardening its defenses, and lowering the Drifloon's grip. Happy with the end result, Chuy continued to give instructions. All right, it's time to go on the offensive, Buneary use Foresight!"

"Buneary!" was the response heard from the battle, as Buneary burst out from Drifloon's hold by launching its short limbs outwards, and then once upon landing on ground, it closed one eye, and made a circle with its hands through which it looked at the Drifloon. "Bun!" It cried as if informing 'mission accomplished'.

"Great now use Pound!"

"Not so fast! Drifloon, use Minimize!" But as slow as he would've rather have Buneary be, Chuy's opponent was not seeing the light of day. As Drifloon prepared to blow off some of the air inside it, Buneary hit it hard in the face. However, it did blow out more air than expected, thus becoming even smaller.

"Keep Pounding it Buneary!"

"Drifloon, counter it with another Constrict!"

Both Pokémon attacked each other at the same time. Buneary had been a bit faster, but the smaller Drifloon had an easy time getting out of the way, and caught Buneary from the back, cutting Buneary's blood circulation to its legs (thus making it slower).

"Damn! Buneary, you know what to do, Splash and Tackle!" Buneary, quickly squiggled it's way out of Drifloon's hold by using Splash again, and in its second jump Pounded it hard in the face.

Chuy's opponent couldn't believe what was going on… he was LOSING??? "Drifloon, hold on!" But it was not to be, and Drifloon began to blow up bigger, and bigger, and BIGGER. "What's going on!"

'Some Pokémon tend to blow up if they are defeated by a move that makes contact. This phenomenon is known as the ability Aftermath.'

"Damn, Buneary use Endure, NOW!"

¡¡¡BOOM!!!

Drunk - Looks like Chuy got himself somewhat of a mentor. Good post.

Congratulations, Jesus won TM 46: Thief!

Sara stared at the ball and watched it move back and forth a bit more before it finally stopped. The girl and Shuppet waited a little bit, seeing if anything would happen. But, nothing did. Sara grinned widely when she finally realized that she had, indeed, caught the Ralts and went over to pick up the pokeball.

"Alright! I caught another Pokemon!" Sara called out happily, punching the air with the ball as Angela cried out happily. The girl smiled at her starter, then looked back down at the ball.

"Right, now, time to nick name this little guy," she said, then frowned as she thought about it. "Hmm...Lee...Yeah, I think I'm gonna call him Lee. What do you think Angela?" When the Shuppet nodded her approval of the name, Sara grinned and said, "Alright, then this Ralts will now be known as Lee!"

Sara put the ball in her pack, then looked around her. "Hmm...to tell ya the truth...we aren't that far from Jublife...and Yansa and Lee are beaten up pretty badly. Not to mention that you yourself, Angela, receieved some damage from Lee...I think we should head back and get all of ya healed up before we continue."

Angela sighed, but didn't show outward disapproval for the choice. She was somewhat injuried, not to mention how beaten up the bird and the psychic were. So, really, it wasn't a bad decision for them to run back quickly to restore their health and such...but the Shuppet really wanted to continue on their journey.

As the Puppet Pokemon was thinking this, Sara had already started walking back to Jublife. Angela cried out slightly and was quick to catch up to her Trainer. The girl smiled at her starter as she continued walking her way back to Jublife...

A couple hours or so later...

Sara was once again leaving the area of Jublife City, her now fully healed Pokemon in her pack with Angela floating on her shoulder. The gril walked quicker then she did before, wanting to make up for lost time. She muttered some curses under her breath, wondering why it took the Nurse Joy so darn long to heal her Pokemon.

Sara continued to walk at this pace until she reached the Oreburgh Gate. It was then that she finally stopped and took the time to get some breath into her body. She sighed, then looked at the tunnel that would get her to the town of Oreburgh. After resting up enough, Sara took one step before two voices shouted behind her.

"Hey, you there! I want to challenge you to a battle!" The voices said.

Sara sighed under her breath and turned to face the person who had shouted the challenge. She looked down at a pair of girls, seemingly twins, that were dress in identical pink dresses and shoes. Their hair was short and brown with a pink bow in it.

"Hey, did you hear us!?" Both girls shouted, pointing at Sara. "We challange you to a battle! Lets get on with it!!"

"Alright, alright..." Sara muttered under her breath, then said aloud, "I accpect your challange. Will this be a double battle?"

Both girls smirked and nodded. "Yep, it sure will be," one of the girls said. "Anyways, less talk more battling!"

"Right," Sara said with a sigh. Angela cried out happily and was about to go infront of her trainer, but the girl shook her head. "No Angela, you've fought in pretty much every battle so far. Why don't we give the new guys a try?"

Angela grunted but hung back. There was no point in arguing or getting her trainer mad at her for no real reason. Sara smiled slightly before reaching into her pack, picking the two Pokeballs up, and throwing them out. "Come on out, Yansa and Lee!"

The two balls opened up and, in a flash of light, the Starly and Ralts appeared. Both were on the ground and looked at each other. There was a moment of shock, not really understanding why they were now standing right next to the Pokemon that they had just attacked not too long ago. But soon an understanding came over them. It didn't take away all of the tension, but it made it so that they could at least fight eachother with out worrying too much.

The twins grinned as they pulled out their apriballs and threw them in the air. In a couple flashes of light, a Cleffa and an Igglybuff appeared. Both Pokemon cried out happily and started to bounce around. Sara blinked at her compition, then smiled slightly. However, that smile soon went away when she thought back to her battle in the Battle Tent.

"Don't underestimate anything," the girl muttered under her breath. "For all you know, these things could be the scarist things we'll face for a while yet." She then shook her head and shouted, "Okay Yansa, use a Quick Attack on the Cleffa! Lee, use Confusion on the Igglybuff."

The Starly cried out happily as it became a blurr and charged at the Cleffa, knocking it back a bit. Then Lee had the psychic aura surround him and the Igglybuff soon. Next thing anyone knew, the little balloon was being thrown all over the place.

"Igglybuff!!" One of the twins shouted. The other one growled and shouted, "Clefa, quick, use Sing!"

"Cover your ears!" Sara shouted, covering her own ears. Yansa did it as best as she could, but Lee seemed to not have heard the command, so intent was he on attacking the Igglybuff. Soon enough, naturally, Lee started to say back and forth, his hold on the Igglybuff growing weaker and weaker. Finally, he fell on his side and went to sleep, completely severing the connection between him and the Balloon Pokemon.

"Great," Sara muttered, then an idea came to her. "Hey...Lee did some work on that Igglybuff...maybe...Yansa, use a Quick Attack on the Igglybuff!"

"Starly!" Yansa cried out and this time used the high speed attack on the very round shape Pokemon. Neither the Pokemon, nor the trainer expected this and the Igglybuff was sent crashing into some bushes. After a little bit, the Igglybuff came back out, though looking a lot more beat up then before.

"Quick, Igglybuff, use a Pound on the Ralts!" The first twin shouted, quickly followed by the other who said, "Clefa, use a Pound on the Starly!"

"Yansa, dodged!" Sara shouted, smiling slighly when the bird rose higher into the air and avoided the attack. But Ralts, who was still sleeping, just took the hit. Even though he was knocked back a ways, he still didn't wake up.

"Okay Yansa, use another Quick Attack on the Igglybuff!" Sara shouted her ordered. The Starly nodded and flew at the Ballon Pokemon once more. This time, after being hit, the Igglybuff was knocked out and just lay on the ground.

The first girl sniffed and returned the Pokemon to it's ball. She then looked to her sister and said, "Come on sis, you show this girl what we're made of!"

"You got it!" The second twin said with a thumbs up, then turned to Sara. "Alright Clefa, use another Pound!"

"Clefa!" The Star Shape Pokemon shouted, then jumped up and threw a punch at Starly. This time, the attack hit and made the Starly crash into a side of the tunnel.

Sara frowned deeply, then perked up when she saw Lee stirring. In a little bit, the Ralts was once again back up and shaking the last remints of his sleep form his head. "Alright! Lee, use Confusion on the Clefa!"

Lee looked at his trainer, seeming not to understand at first. But then, her words reached him and he turned his large head to glare at the Clefa. Soon the phychic energy surrounded him again. Though, instead of it also going around the other Pokemon, Lee let out a loud yell and sent out a psychic blast, knocking the Clefa back a few times. Before the Star Shape Pokemon could recover, Lee yelled again and sent another blast, finishing the Clefa off.

With a sigh, the second twin took out the apriball she used before and returned the Clefa to her. "Well, miss, you sure did win fair and square. Here's some money and an Oran berry." She said, handing the reward out.

"Thanks," Sara said, taking the money and berry. "You guys didn't fight half bad yourself. Hope you have a pretty good day."

"You bet!" Both girls said, grinning at each other before turning around and running away from Sara.

"Well...that was interesting," Sara said, then looked down to look at Lee and Yansa, who had returned to them after recovering. "Anyways, great job guys! You did great, both of you!" Both Pokemon turned to eachother and smiled slightly.

"Right, now how about we get ya healed up," Sara said, bending down and taking out a couple of Potions. She gently at both Pokemon drink them, healing any wounds they had before. "Now, lets get going to Orebourgh!"

Both Pokemon cried out happily as Sara returned them to their balls. She looked back at the tunnel, then at Angela.

"To Orebourgh, indeed," she said. "Might as well get there as soon as we can and get our first badge!" With that said, Sara entered the tunnel.
