Charzeon - Good post, smart idea on Sara's part, to go heal up her Pokemon first.

Congratulations, Yansa grew to lv 6!
Congratulations, Lee grew to lv 6!

Kenny sat on the ground staring at his pokemon. Pichu, awakened by the wind blowing the grass making it sway and rub against her nose. Rubbing her eyes and then letting out a big yawn, Pichu saw Kenny was awake and ran over to jump on his head. Kenny looked up at Pichu smiling as she was pulling his hair trying to hang on as he moved his head.

"Hey Pichu I need to give you a name." Kenny said hoping to get the attention of his pokemon. Pichu began to grin and kicking her feet in anticipation.

"Does Sai sound like a good name?" Pichu looked up into the air pondering the name. Suddenly Pichu looked down, shook her head from side to side, and stuck her tongue out.

"What if I just call you Chewy?" Kenny asked hoping to get a less painful reaction from Pichu. Nodding her head happily, choosing to the name Chewy.

"Okay Chewy it is." Chewy quite pleased with her name jumped off Kenny's head and made her way over to the pond. Looking at her reflection, she tried to fix her bow on her ear. Turtwig woke up to see Pichu standing at the edge of the pond trying to fix her bow. Getting up, running over to Chewy, and tried to help her.

Kenny was glad that Chewy and Turtwig were getting along famously. Watching those two help, each other clean up their faces. Kenny thought it might be time to get ready to go. Kenny looked over to where a tree stood tall and bright. He saw a strange golden color human shaped pokemon watch his pokemon closely and looked as if it was plotting. All of a sudden, it disappeared and then reappeared behind Chewy and Turtwig and it pushed them into the water.

Kenny jumped up and ran to try to get his pokemon out of the water. The other pokemon disappeared as Kenny got closer. Reaching out to grab both his pokemon and dried them off with one of his shirts that he had in his bag. Pichu grabbed Kenny's jacket and tried to use it to get warm. Kenny took off his jacket and covered both his pokemon.

"Okay guys try to get warm." Kenny said as he went back into his bag looking for something he could use to warm his pokemon up. Pichu looked over to the where the tree was and saw the pokemon that pushed them into the water but it seemed to be talking to another pokemon.

Chewy jumped up and then started to walk over to where she saw the two pokemon laughing. Kenny turned around to see Chewy making her way to the tree and he picked up Turtwig and his jacket and ran over behind Chewy.

"Pichu!" Chewy yelled as she charged toward the pokemon. Pichu created a box above her head and threw it in front on of the two pokemon. The Pokemon smiled and tried to open up the box. The box blew up and left both pokemon stunned. Turtwig jumped out of Kenny's hands and stood next to Chewy. Kenny looked at the other pokemon that was slim, white, had like a green hat like thing on its head, and had two red horns on it.

"Hey what do you think you are doing to my pokemon?" A high-pitched girly voice said from far away.

Suddenly a woman that had nice golden brown hair that was in a bun that had two spoons coming out of it. She wore a purple top that was covered buy a golden short sleeve jacket. She had part of her stomach showing and a pair of long black slacks with a pair of black high heels.

"Your pokemon?" Kenny said

"Yes my pokemon. Did I stutter?" She replied with an attitude.

"Well you should keep a better eye on your pokemon and not have them pulling pranks on others." Kenny said with a serious look on his face.

"You raise your pokemon and I will raise mine."

Chewy ran over to Kenny, jumped up on his head, and stared the women down hoping to scare her. The women looked up a Pichu and then gave a smirk.

"That is a great looking Pichu and she seems really fond of you."

"How can you tell that?"

"Just look at how she is not afraid to run and jump on you even when you are in trouble or in a fight. That turtwig you have is not as comfortable with you yet to do that."

"What makes you an expert on pokemon?" Kenny said taking Chewy off his head and holding her in his arms.

"I am a psychic type pokemon trainer and I can see the vibes human and pokemon put off towards each other." She said pointing at her two pokemon. Chewy looked up at Kenny and smiled as he looked back down at her. Kenny then turned his head to Turtwig and saw that it was standing away from Kenny and not close to his legs.

"You are a cute kid so I guess I can help you get closer to your pokemon." The woman said. Kenny started to blush and looked away from the woman.

"You can that would be awesome."

"Pichu here loves to battle. It lets her show how strong she is and shows off how well you trained it. So I will let you battle my abra."

"Cool but what about Turtwig?" Kenny said looking over at the turtle pokemon.

"Turtwig loves to be included in things others around her are doing and she loves to be helpful any way she could."

"She? How can you tell if turtwig is a she?"

"Did you notice that she tried to do things that Pichu was doing especially when Pichu was fixing her bow."

"Yes but I thought she was just being friendly." Kenny said looking off to the side disappointed not knowing this information about Turtwig. He then rubbed his arm, walked over to Turtwig, and began to rub her back. "Sorry for neglecting you Turt…" Kenny said trying to think of a nickname for her. "Sunny."

Sunny looked up at Kenny and smiled. She then jumped up on his knee and rubbed her nose on his face.

"Well now since you two are getting along how about a double battle against me."

"Sure I will battle. Ready Chewy and Sunny?" His pokemon looked up at Kenny and nodded.

"Okay then little boy. Let's go Kadabra and Kirlia." The woman said as a large, golden, human shaped pokemon appeared. It had a large tail and carried a spoon in its right hand. The pokemon also had whiskers. The other pokemon had a smaller human shape but looked more like a dancer in all white and had green hair. It had two red horns stinking out of its head looking like bows in hair.

"Chewy start things off with present and Sunny use tackle." Pichu formed a box over her head throwing it up in the air while turtwig ran and jumped in the air and tackled the box towards the enemy pokemon.

"Kadabra use Relfect and Kirlia use Light Screen." Kadabra begin to glow blue and formed a clear blue barrier around its team while Kirlia began to glow yellow forming a yellow barrier around their. The box landed by their feet and then exploded but a blue barrier came up protected them from the majority of the damage.

"Ah man I might have to weaken them first. Chewy use thunder wave on Kirlia and Sunny use tackle."

"Return Kadabra and Kirlia." The woman said quickly returning her team to their pokeballs. "I am so sorry Kenny; I forgot I need to head to Oreburgh City. I will have to continue this battle some other time." The woman ran off into the nearby mountain area.

Kenny bent down to rub his pokemon heads. "Good thing she had to go because I did not know how we were going to win that battle girls." Chewy smiled at Kenny and Sunny scooted next to Kenny and rub his leg. "I love you girls." Kenny said getting up and walking closer to the area where the woman ran off. Chewy jumped on Sunny's back and they quickly ran after Kenny trying not to get lost.

"Shinx! Tackle that Surskit!"

Shinx charged at the Surskit. The Surskit didn't know what hit it. Surskit ran toward Shinx and used Bubble. It hit Shinx, who was knocked back by the momentum.

Bryce issued Shinx to use another Tackle attack. This time, the attack hit the tree that was behind the two Pokemon. The Surskit let out a cry that was louder than anyone had ever heard before. Then, there was complete silence.

"Shinx!" Bryce ordered. "Use another, oh no…"

Just as Bryce was about to issue the command, a swarm of Masquerain ran toward he and Mankey. Shinx had her own swarm of Masquerain to deal with too. Everyone, Pokemon and trainer alike ran away in an attempt to get away from the Masquerain that were attacking.

"Uh, Mankey, do something!" Bryce yelled as Mankey, who was also in the midst of the swarm, looked at him, confused. Then, Mankey began to swipe everywhere.

Bryce was surprised to see this new move. What was it? There was no time to pull out the Pokedex right now though.

"Hey Mankey," he yelled. "Keeping doing whatever it is that you're doing!" Mankey continued swiping his hands at all of the Masquerain in the area. Meanwhile, Shinx was having trouble getting rid of the swarm surrounding it. Bryce recalled Shinx before it got hurt; however, all of the Masquerain that were attacking Shinx came toward his direction instead.

"Mankey, keep it up! There's some more coming this way!" The swarm of Masquerain was closing in on him and Mankey. Bryce could see that they were not the only Pokemon that were being attacked. All of the other trainers, including the one he'd just battled, were fighting off the swarm too. To think that he caused such a mess as this!

Mankey continued to swipe at the Pokemon. As the swarm grew less and less in number, Bryce decided he would help speed things up. He grabbed a nearby stick and start swinging around at the Pokemon. Finally, the swarm subsided. The remaining Masquerain, the ones who hadn't been knocked out, flew away. Bryce gave Mankey a Potion to drink.

"Wow, that was close," he remarked as he and Mankey sat down.

"What did you do?!?" The voice came out of nowhere. "I mean, I've never seen anything so crazy in my life!" The voice was coming from a kid around his age.

"What do you mean, 'what did you do'? I didn't do anything." Bryce answered the boy. The boy was wearing blue jean shorts, a white t-shirt, and a baseball cap.

"I mean, you upset those Pokemon. That was a baby Surskit that you attacked. They were protecting their baby." Oh, if you're such an expert, why didn't you do something? Bryce thought in frustration. He really wanted that Pokemon.

"What do you mean by baby? Those were two different Pokemon." He was wondering, had they adopted the Surskit?

"They're two different species, but they're from the same evolutionary line."

"Whatever, they're just evil, is all. They felt like picking a fight and they got one."

"No, Masquerain are usually peaceful. They only attack when provoked. You may not have meant to, but you ticked them off."

Bryce frowned. The nerve of this kid! Who did he think he was anyways? "Look," he said, "It's over now, so leave me alone."

"Whatever, you'll wish you'd listened to me soon enough," the kid replied and just walked away. Bryce shrugged his shoulder and let Shinx out of her Pokeball. She lay there shaking as if she was losing energy.

"What's the matter?" he asked. However, Shinx continued shaking. He checked the Pokedex to check her status and found out that she was poisoned. What could he do? He didn't have any antidotes! He needed it act quickly. Then he remembered the know-it-all kid.

"Wait!" He called out to the kid. "Do you have an antidote that I can use on my Shinx? She's poisoned."

"Oh, so now you want my help," he said in an "I told you so" tone of voice.

"Well, can I?"

"Say you were wrong." What? Wrong about what? This kid had really lost his mind. Bryce Johnson doesn't apologize.

"Forget it." Bryce said. There was no way he was about to apologize for something that he didn't do. No way! "I'll figure something out myself."

"Fine," the kid replied. "Suit yourself. But don't come crying when Shinx gets hurt really bad." He walked off this time.

"Don't worry Shinx. I'll get you all better." He gave Shinx his last potion to keep her from fainting. "Just hang in there, we're close to Oreburgh City. While he talked, the Surskit from earlier approached him.

"Get away!" He yelled at the Surskit. "Mankey, use Low Kick!" Mankey knocked the Pokemon off of its feet. This Surskit had caused so much trouble. He was gonna make it his whether it liked it or not.

"Mankey, hit it again with Tackle!" Mankey tackled the Surskit, who landed on its head. As it struggled to get back on its feet, Mankey helped it with another Tackle. The Surskit retaliated with a Bubble attack. The bubbles didn't do much damage to Mankey.

"Mankey, use Low Kick!" Mankey kicked the Pokemon, knocking it down. The Pokemon attempted to scream out again, but Bryce threw the ball at it before it could even do anything.

All there was left to do now was wait…

Tell me if anyone ever becomes inactive ok. If anyone becomes inactive I'd like to take there spot.

Sara listened to her foot steps echoing all around her as the sound bounced of the walls of the tunnel. The girl was about half way into the Orebourgh Gate and was walking at a slower pace looking all around her. Sara had never been in the Gate herself, but she had heard some rumors of there being strong Pokemon in the tunnel. Though the trainer was sure that he Pokemon could handle any that they cross in the tunnel, she still wanted to be careful.

Angela seemed to catch Sara's mood and stood quiet still on her shoulder. The Shuppet just looked around her, also making sure that nothing came out and attacked them by surprise. Sara continued the slow pace, seeming to go uneasy in the dark.

"Man, this is weird," Sara muttered as she continued to walk. "I mean, shouldn't we have seen some kind of Pokemon already. It's weird to think that we haven't seen anything yet. Do you think-"

Of course, Murphy's Law had to come into effect right then as a roar suddenly sounded through out the cave. Sara let out a low cruse and turned around quickly to face what ever was coming at her. Her eyes widen as, coming from the gloom, an Onix slow approched her. Sara took a few steps back as Angela floated off her trainer's shoulder and stayed in front of her, growling at the large rock snake. The Onix looked down at the ghost and seemed to find that suck a tiny Pokemon standing against him amusing. He then roared again and, bursting from the ground, two Sandshrews appeared, glaring at Sara and her Pokemon.

"Oh man, this isn't good," Sara said, backing up a few more steps. "There's no way that Angela can take on three Pokemon at once...and it doesn't look like they'll let us escape..." The girl then sighed, realizing that there was really only one option. Taking out the familiar red and white balls, she threw them in the air and shouted, "Yansa, Lee, I need you're help again!"

The Pokeballs opened up and soon the Ralts and the Starly appeared in their flashes of light. The two looked around themselves before jumping at the Onix and it's Sandshrews companions. Angela grunted and quickly explained what they were to do. Lee frowned but nodded, while Yansa glared at the Puppet Pokemon, seeming to remember the battle she had with her. But the bird then also grunted and looked back at the Pokemon.

"Okay...this is going to be interesting," Sara muttered, then shouted, "Okay, Angela use a Screech. Yansa and Lee, you two use Growl!"

The girl's three Pokemon nodded, the psychic and the bird letting out low growls that made the Ground types shiver in fear slightly. Right after the ghost let out a very loud Screech, making the Onix and his lackies cry out and try to cover their ears. Though, the Onix itself failed miserably at this. Once the attacks were done the wild Pokmeon looked at the captured ones and glared at them more.

The Onix roared once more and tried to charge at the much smaller Pokemon with it's body. With out even needing an order from Sara, all three did their best to get out of the way. Lee was able to jumped to the side and, possibly from using some of it's powers, landed a good distance form where he was before. Both Yansa and Angela got out of the way by floating/flying above the Onix. The two Sandshrews then jumped up and tried to scratch at the bird and ghost. Yansa cried out as the attack hit her, but Angela wasn't even phased as the attack just went right passed her.

"Alright, I hope this works," Sara said as she watched her Pokemon handle the attacks. "Yansa, use a Quick Attack on the Sandrew that attacked you! Angela, use Payback on the Sandshrew that tried to attack ya." She then took a deep breath as the bird and ghost did what they were told to do, hitting the Sandshrews with their attacks. "And Lee. use Confusion on the Onix!"

Lee nodded, then seemed to concentrate. Soon the psychic area surrouned him and the Onix. The rock snake blinked in surprise at what was happening, then let out a defiant roar as it was lifted up into the air. The young Ralts shook with the effort it took to keep the very heavy Pokemon up. He then, with a yell of effort, slammed the Onix against the tunnel's walls. The Rock Snake Pokmeon cried out in pain as it's body was pushed against the wall, then again when the Ralts slammed it against the other wall. The Ralts then let out an even louder yell then before and threw the Onix back, breaking his hold on it as it slid against the ground. With a low growl, the Onix slithered back up with it's Sandshrew company, who were also back on their feet.

The Onix one again lead the charge, using it's Tackle attack once more. But, when Sara's Pokmon moved to scatter, Lee was a bit slower then usual and couldn't use his psychic attacks as well. The Onix took this opitunity to wrap it's body around the Ralts and try to crush it to death.

"Lee!" Sara shouted, then quickly ordered when she saw the Sandshrew coming at her other two Pokemon, "Angela, use another Screech!!"

The Ghost was quick to let the loud and disrubtive noise out, freezing the Sandshrew to flinch and the Onix to loosen it's grip slightly. It was enough for Lee, who let out a blast of Confusion that knocked the Onix away from him. Yansa also took this time to Tackle one of the Sandshrew, knocking it out.

"Alright, nice thinking there Yansa!" Sara called out happily. "Angela, hit the other Sandshrew with a Payback!"

"Shuppet!" Angela shouted and charged the other Sandshrew, hitting it with the horn on her head. It was enough to knock that Sandshrew out as well.

The Onix grunted, but didn't seem to upset at losing it's comrades. It just glare at the Pokemon and trainer before letting out a Screech attack of it's own. All four were taken off guard and, seeing this, the Rock Snake Pokemon charged them once more.

"Guys, dodge!" Sara shouted, actually having to tell her Pokemon to do that.

Yansa and Lee recovered first and got out of their way. Angela didn't recover in time, not that it mattered that much. The attack went right passed her. Once again, Sara was greatful that the ghost was immune to Normal attacks.

"Alright, here we go guys," Sara said, getting ready for the next attacks. "Yansa, use Growl. Lee, use confusion again. Angela, use Payback once more!"

All three Pokemon nodded their agreement. The Starly then let out a low, growling like sound again making the Onix shiver. Then suddenly, it was caputed in a psychic aura and couldn't move. It was then thrown about the tunnel a couple times before the connection was broken. Then Angela charged forward and hit the Onix squarly in the head, making it stagger back slightly. Before it could even recover, Lee yelled and sent out another blast of Confusion, knocking it back even more. The Onix slammed into another wall and slumped onto the ground.

There was a pause as everyone seemed to hold their breath. But when the Onix didn't move again, Sara sighed with relief and took out all of her Pokemon's balls. "Okay guys, rest up. You all deserve it. I swear, I'll get you all into a Pokemon Center and heal ya up as soon as I can." With out waiting for any kind of an answer, Sara returned all three of her Pokemon to their assigned balls. She turne turned on her heels and ran, wanting to get out of the tunnel before anything else happened.

Konekodemon, it's rude to just bump into a rp's ic like that. That;s what we have OOC's and better, VMs or PMs for. Please refrain from doing so again.

Charzeon - That was quite the battle there, three on three. Great post, I enjoyed reading it.

Congratulations, Angela grew to lv. 9 and learned Night Shade!
Congratulations, Yansa grew to lv. 9 and learned Wing Attack!
Congratulations, Lee grew to lv. 8!

The sun was about halfway to the midway point in the sky when Selene began to wake from her slumber. Grumbling to herself and yawning, she rolled on her side and hugged her pillow tightly. Denahi was curled up on the floor, clearly still asleep. Selene sat up in the bed and looked at the sunlight drifting in underneath. She then spared a quick glance at Denahi and decided that, seeing as he was asleep, she would take her chance and go get ready for the day. Stretching briefly, Selene then slid out of the bed and onto the floor. Practically tip-toeing so her Pokemon wouldn't wake, Selene gathered all of her bathroom items and then hurried into the rather nice looking bathroom that the room's lodging had provided.

Denahi didn't wake up until Selene was finished and had accidentally opened the door to hard. He awoke with a sudden start, looking about rapidly like he was about to be attacked. Then he noticed Selene and the sheepish smile on her face. Huffing, he turned around and glared at the closed window. Selene sighed and pulled the shade up. Denahi was free to glare out the window now. He's such a grumpy pants, Selene thought in partial annoyance as she grabbed a ponytail holder. Sparing a brief glance at her Pokemon, she shrugged and then began to put her long black hair up. Once that was finished, she repacked her bag and looked at Denahi. He was still glaring out the window, basically refusing to move from his stubbornly placed spot.

"Oh, come on, you," Selene stated. "We have a journey to make. Oh! That reminds me." She mumbled the last part more or less. She had almost forgotten about her new Pokemon. Fumbling about briefly, Selene finally grabbed the Pokeball-oh wait, Apri Ball-and opened it. A Growlithe appeared. It shook itself and then looked at her. Selene took out her Pokedex and held it towards the doglike Pokemon. Once the information had appeared, she quickly learned his attacks as well as the fact that he was...well, a he. "You need a nickname, don't you?"

"Growl!" the Growlithe said in a rather friendly way.

Score! A friendly Pokemon! Haha! I win. Selene grinned to herself like a little kid. "You're so much better than Mr. Stubborn Pants over there," Selene muttered, crouching down and patting the Growlithe on his head. He barked shortly. Denahi glanced over, and then huffed and looked out the window. Growlithe cocked his head to the side curious. "Ah don't worry about him," Selene said, waving her hand, "he's just a poop-face. Now...what shall we name you?" Growlithe waited. "Aha! I'll keep with my current theme. How about Kenai? Do you like that buddy?"

"Growl! Growlithe," Growlithe stated. It seemed he liked it fairly well.

"Excellent. Come on Crani...dammit. Denahi, come on, we're going to be going now." Selene and Growlithe both looked at the stubborn Pokemon. He still refused to move. With a roll of her eyes, Selene latched onto his tail and began to drag him out of the room. Why the hell was it that this Pokemon would go from amazing to a complete jerk? "Totally bipolar," Selene muttered. Kenai eyed her curiously as they proceeded to the front desk of the Pokemon Center. Nurse Joy eyed Denahi in a rather funny way. Selene cleared her throat and handed the woman her room key, and then quickly exited the Pokemon Center. She had a bad feeling she was going to get funny looks all day, just because of Denahi.

"Next stop is..." Selene muttered, pulling out a paper map that had been stuffed in the side pocket of her bag. Denahi and Kenai looked at her. "Oh! Route 203. Maybe we'll find some more Pokemon or trainers to kick butt against."

"Growl," Kenai declared. He seemed pretty pumped. Denahi, however, just sulked. He did not seem so pumped. Selene sighed and hung her head. This was going to be a long journey.

So, they began their descent to Route 203. Selene really didn't want Kenai to be outside of his Pokeball, mostly because she didn't want an entire team of Pokemon following her around one day. But she relented this time and let him stay out, just because Denahi was being a jerk and she didn't want to have to deal with him the entire way. Selene was mostly talking to Kenai, who would respond with barks or saying his name. Denahi looked over occasionally, and obviously didn't like the fact that they seemed to be enjoying the walk along the route. He would always just snort and look away to the trees or the other scenery.

Selene did feel a bit bad about that. Of course she did. She knew how it felt to be shoved aside and ignored. With a soft sigh, she stopped in her tracks. Growlithe paused next to her and looked up. Cranidos continued on. Selene cleared her throat, and he stopped. "Denahi," Selene began softly, "we can be a great team if you'd just cooperate with me. Please?"

Denahi stared at her. He then turned his head in a bit of an annoyed way. Selene frowned and stood there, obviously unsure of what to do. She scratched the side of her head and then huffed. Denahi was just being a stubborn bastard, and couldn't seem to get off of his high freaking stubborn horse. Selene began to grow annoyed at first. She knew that she was getting closer to being rather angry, but there wasn't much she could do about it. If Denahi didn't want to help her, he didn't want to help her. What was she supposed to do about that? Really though, he wouldn't even let her try to be friends.

"Fine." Selene turned to Kenai. "You'll be my friend though, won't you?" Kenai barked happily, wagging his fluffy tail and staring up at Selene.

"Growl!"

"Come on," Selene said more to Denahi. Her voice was a bit cold and like ice. He followed along after Kenai and her rather silently and sulkily. They continued on like this, without pausing for much of anything.

About what was apparently halfway through the route, it soon became obvious that it was growing a little hotter. Something that came with this was the fact that Selene and her Pokemon wanted something more to drink more often. Sighing, Selene moved over underneath a shady tree and crouched down close to the small pond that was located there. Denahi sat down against a tree and stared off in the distance, while Kenai sat next to her and then drank once she filled her water. Selene glanced at Denahi, and then huffed and plopped down opposite of him. Kenai hopped up onto her lap and she petted him as she took out a sandwich. Selene was about to start eating when, of course, there was an interruption.

Two little bug things popped out of a tree. They were staring at Selene's sandwich. Selene wouldn't have noticed, save for Kenai suddenly going rigid and snarling at the direction of the Pokemon. Turning her head, Selene soon saw what it was. A Kriketot. She pulled out her Pokedex and held it towards the still bugs. The data was recorded, and she knew she was ready for a nice double battle. Quickly glancing at Denahi and hoping he would fight, she stood and looked at the bugs the whole time.

"Alright guys, first double battle. Kenai I want you to start out and..." Selene spared a glance at her Pokedex, "attack the one closest to you with bite! Denahi, you use headbutt on that tree to get them out!"

Denahi looked a bit reluctant, but complied. He slammed against the tree, and the Kriketot smacked fully into the ground. They shook themselves, but the one to Selene's right was unprepared when Kenai snapped his jaws down the bug's body. The Kriketot cried out sharply, and the other one let out a funny sound and slammed into Selene's puppy. Kenai yelped and hit a tree sharply, wincing. It was obvious that he wasn't exactly up to fighting these two bugs on his own, especially because of the (slightly) significant level difference. Denahi simply stared, obviously not feeling inclined to help his teammate. Well, Selene wouldn't have any of that ****.

"Denahi, help Kenai! Don't be a stuck up. Use stomp on that Kriketot!"

Selene, of course, was more or less focused on the one that had attacked her precious Growlithe. She hadn't noticed that Kriketot wasn't retaliating at all. Nor did she notice that it wasn't even bothering to dodge. Suddenly Kriketot's friend slammed into Denahi. He snorted and whipped around, obviously angered by the attack. Good thing he had good defense. Growlithe got up slowly and then charged at the unmoving Kriketot. He snapped his jaws down just as Denahi slammed his head into the other Kriketot's body, knocking it away. Selene sighed. They were SO not acting like a proper team.

"Guys, how about we try to do this together," Selene offered. Her Pokemon basically ignored her. "Ugh."

That was when there was something of a miniature explosion. The Kriketot that Kenai was biting began to erupt, almost literally. Selene's eyes widened as she finally realized that it had been using bide. Denahi whipped his head over and suddenly charged. Selene ordered Kenai to let go, but he clamped down harder. He growled but then let go, but there was no way he would make it. Selene wanted to cover her eyes, but she didn't. She watched as her Cranidos, the stubborn meanie pants, practically smacked her Growlithe out of the way and took the full of the attack. Selene's jaw dropped open. She couldn't believe it. When the dust cleared, Denahi was slowly getting back up. Kenai was staring at Denahi with a bit of curiosity on his features.

"Crani," Denahi stated, standing up rather proudly. The first wild Kriketot was panting heavily, while the second was charging head on towards Growlithe in an attempt to redeem its comrade. "CRANI!" Denahi roared, charging and slamming his foot down on the wild Kriketot. He, apparently, would be having none of that.

Maybe...maybe it'll work out this time. No sense it not trying, Selene thought. A grin appeared on her face. "Alright, let's win this battle. Kenai finish off that first Kriketot with a bite. Denahi, you use headbutt to knock your Kriketot into the one that Kenai has a hold of. Kenai, let go when you think it's close!"

Kenai moved in on the wobbly Kriketot, and then snapped his teeth down in a sharp bite. Kriketot cried out, and as the second was about to charge forward and get Kenai away, Denahi stepped in. He slammed his head into the Kriketot, which propelled it forward at an alarming rate towards Kenai and his Kriketot. Kenai growled low, but leapt away from the Kriketot with seconds to spare. They hit each other in a thud and both fell to the ground. The one that was less damaged managed to get up, but the first Kriketot was down. The second Kriketot looked at his friend in a rather frightened way and started to pull it away from Denahi and Kenai. They stood proudly, obviously satisfied at their first accomplished job together.

Finally...maybe we've got it.

Fen - Nice one, now everyone's doing double battles, hm?

Congratulations, Denahi grew to lv. 11 and learned pursuit!
Congratulations, Kenai grew to lv. 7 and learned Ember!

Mackie hunched more and more as the tunnel entrance got farther away behind him. He hadn't liked this the first time, and he didn't like it now. Lanterns or not, this place was a cave, and the sky was gone, and he couldn't decide if it was worse in the places where the cave ceiling was visible, or where it rose high enough that there was nothing overhead but swallowing dark.

Not the dark of night-time, where there were stars, moon... even on cloudy nights when the moon was showing its dark face and didn't even glow behind the clouds... there was air, moving air, the smell of grass and trees and everything.

He was cold, too. Wasn't cold outside, where there was sun and space, but it was chilly in here, it seemed to him. Cold. The sun was far away. He though about stopping to dig a shirt or a sweater out from his pack, but if he stopped, it would take even longer to get through, and that was a bad idea all around.

He'd camped before coming in here, wanting to take the walk through during the day, knowing at least that there'd be light at the other end.

He wanted to get Bonnie and Luster out. More than knowing they could surely fight off anything that lived in here, it would be company, but it was so early in the morning now, both had been asleep when he woke, and so he'd packed up quietly, recalled them to their balls without so much as waking them up, and set off. He hadn't thought it would be this bad.

On his way through here before, it hadn't been the crack of dawn, and there'd been lots of people, in groups and alone, but foot traffic like a city street, almost, the sounds of talking and of feet on the wooden walkway making the place almost bustle.

Now it was just him, and his sandals. The slap-slap of his footsteps echoed, the sound returning to his ears tinny and eerie.

He heard a faint screech behind him, then another and another, and more and more, and the sound of wings en masse, not a flock but a swarm. The cave was filled with it, multiplying the din, and it was coming closer, and closer.

Mackie walked faster for about ten steps before he started to run, and the sound of his feet on the floor was inaudible now, in the rush of noise. It came for him, and it reached him and surrounded him, screeching and flapping, and he bolted.

One of his sandals caught between two planks and he fell, sprawled, and rolled with the momentum of his panic, off the walkway itself and up against a cave wall. He scrambled to put his back against it, and stared upward.

Faintly outlined in the glow of the lanterns were the rapidly-moving wings and bodies of a mass of Zubat. They were flying as near the ceiling as possible and all moving together.

Mackie's heart was pounding so hard he could feel it in his stomach, but, as he watched the Zubat above, it slowed some.

"Just... just comin' in for the day," he said to himself. They lived in caves, of course. He knew that. He'd heard people mentioning it on the way down, too. When Zubat went out, it was during the night. But some caves held whole families that slept in the caves all day, and went out at night to forage for food. That was all. It wasn't the cave out to eat him, or any old thing like that. "Oh, Mackie, you've got a brick for a brain," he told himself, closing his eyes briefly.

Almost as abruptly as it had come on, the Zubat noise was gone, the Zubat all having disappeared down a side tunnel somewhere to roost for the day. Mackie stayed exactly where he was until he was sure, though.

Just... in case.

"Dig. Dig-dig," he heard, right next to him, and he most certainly did NOT scream.

He... yelped. In a very manly fashion, he firmly told himself later. While jumping up and fleeing (still in a manly fashion) back to the walkway.

"Dig! Dig-dig-diglett!!" the calls persisted as he turned and looked back at where he'd been sitting. As the sound had indicated (after the initial shock wore off), it was a Diglett, smoothly-furred brown head poked up from its hole, black eyes glaring down at the place Mackie had just been sitting. Like many places in the cave, this part of the floor wasn't rock, but just dirt. Earth. Thus, he realized, places to dig in.

Mackie couldn't see anything particularly wrong with where he'd fallen, and he didn't know what the Diglett was annoyed about. "Uh..." he said, still recovering from the combined daze of the Zubat swarm and this most recent appearance. "I—sorry, did I bust up somethin'?" he asked. He could only see what was on top. Maybe he'd caused an avalance in the Diglett's living room, for all he knew.

"DigLETT!!" the pokemon snarled, and surged forward. It moved amazingly quickly, without even coming out of the ground, digging through it like a water pokemon swam—it was amazing, and frightening.

Mackie backed up, but not fast enough. The Diglett, faster than Mackie could clearly see, leaped from its hole and suddenly there was a sharp line of agony down Mackie's calf. Then the Diglett was back in its hole again, threat radiating from it.

The fear Mackie felt this time was different from the amorphous terror of the Zubat overhead. This was sharp and immediate and right there in front of him. And he'd never known, until right now, not REALLY known, why it was dangerous in the wild for people without pokemon to protect them.

Some pokemon liked people.

Some didn't.

"Bonnie," he gasped, "help!!" he fumbled her ball from his backpack as the Diglett leaped at him again, scoring another hit on his leg. Mackie dropped the ball without even hitting the button, but it bounced, and then twitched, and red light erupted out, and then Bonnie was there, screeching inarticulately.

Mackie collapsed onto his rear, grabbing at his leg, but keeping his eye on Bonnie.

The Diglett growled, and Bonnie dodged a spray of sand. Maybe she could send it to sleep, she had learned that, after the battle with that Wooper. "Sing!" he called to her. If the Diglett slept, they could get away from here.

But maybe she was too agitated, or the Diglett's growl messed up the sound, but the notes she sang out didn't do a thing, and the Diglett darted out again, the Scratch attack landing on Bonnie this time, as she banked near the Diglett. She bore the blow, and Mackie, for the first time, had the direct comparison between the relative strength of humans and pokemon. How lucky were humans that they could befriend some of these creatures?

"Peck!" he called out. "Stop it from growling!"

She did just that. After so much growling, her attacks didn't land as hard as they would've otherwise, but the Diglett didn't seem to have her stamina, and its territorial fury, or whatever had it so very angry, seemed to deflate a little with each strike of her beak against its furry head.

Mackie spared a look at his leg, and his eyes widened at the tears in the leg of his overalls, and the blood staining the edges. He got to his feet anyway, and it wasn't so bad—the scratches burned, and moving made it worse, but it was only the skin, that was all. Nothing deeper was hurting, not like that time he'd stepped on a nail, right into his foot. "Sing, Bonnie! Make it sleep!" He told her. She tried again. This time, the notes of her song floated out into the cave, and Mackie had to shake himself, too.

The Diglett, surely aided by the daze her pecks must have caused, slumped over, its small body barely shifting with its slowed, slumbering breathing. Mackie stared at it, the throb of his scratches foremost in his awareness now that the fight was done.

"Swaaa?!" Bonnie cried, landing right on the dirty plants of the walkway so she could grasp gently at the cloth of his torn overalls.

"Nothing, s'fine, pretty girl," he told her, and balanced a little awkwardly, water bottle from his back in hand, and shook off his sandal. He pulled up the overall leg, and winced. Blood had run down his leg, and it looked awful.

"Swa!!" Bonnie snapped, and turned to the Diglett, flapping upward in a fury.

"No! No, you don't do that," he said immediately. It was asleep. It wasn't doing anything now. Competitive spirit was fine. He wasn't going to let her kill anything. It was just a wild pokemon, angry at people who passed through its home.

She subsided, landing on the edge of the walkway, staring fixedly at the Diglett. If it woke, they'd have to fight again. He hoped it stayed asleep for a while.

He drizzled water over the cuts, hissing at the sting of it. They washed off pretty good, though, and he sighed with relief. Few good inches long each, bit deep, but not too deep. They were still bleeding, but he used the overall leg to dry the place off. He wasn't gonna wait around here to bandage it, though. A proper wash and covering he could do later, after they were farther away from this little monster.

He moved to his pack again, and shoved the water bottle back in. The bright red of one of the new pokeballs caught his eye. They were supposed to work better, weren't they?

And this pokemon... it really was dangerous. It had nested, or something, so close to the path, what if someone passed through here alone without pokemon because they didn't know better?

If he could catch it, maybe he could turn it in at a Pokemon Center, or something. The League would know what to do with it. Let it go free somewhere far from people, or something.

He threw the ball, watching the red light surround the Diglett. The ball rolled away from the edge of the dirt mound around the Diglett's hole, and twitched a few times.

(OOC: I think Mackie really hates caves now, poor thing. That's going to be a problem later! And he has a bias against Digletts, lol. Good thing he didn't meet an Onix, eh?)

Broadway - Poor Mackie! That run's gonna leave him a trauma! Great post, loved it.

Congratulations, Mackie caught himself a lv. 6 male Diglett!

The Pokeball shook from side to side for a while. It seemed like forever that the Pokeball was shaking. Finally, after 5 long seconds, the Pokeball stopped. Bryce was excited. He ran to the Pokeball and let the Pokémon out of its ball. The Surskit looked confused as ever. It was a little afraid because of the way it had been attacked. It didn't realize that it had a trainer now.

"Hey, you caused me a lot of trouble, you know that?" Bryce talked to the Pokémon in a calm manner to prevent it from screeching again. "You're in luck. You've gained the privilege to become one of the strongest Pokémon in the world!"

"Skit?" The Pokémon was confused. It didn't understand a world that this strange little boy was saying to it. Bryce recalled the Pokémon. He would wait until he got to the next city before he released it again. He didn't want that swarm to come back. He heard a noise that sounded like someone crying in pain. That's right, Shinx! He had forgotten about her in the heat of the moment. She had been badly poisoned. He had to get her to the next Pokémon center and fast! But to do that, he'd have to go through the Oreburgh Gate. He picked up the Shinx and went toward the entrance to Oreburgh Gate.

Oreburgh Gate was dark and dank. There were rock become everywhere. There were two Onix fighting over a female Onix. He watched to two massive Pokémon in awe. Maybe he should catch one. Nah, that would have to wait. Right now, he had to make sure Shinx was okay.

The cave was pretty straightforward. There was only one way to go. It stretched like a long hallway. He ran straight toward the exit. He was running as fast as he could when he tripped over something.

"Diglett! Diglett! Diglett! Diglett! Diglett!" The little Pokémon moved as if it were panicked. "Diglett! Diglett! Diglett! Diglett! Diglett!" It continued yelling and moving around. The little Pokémon looked strange. It looked like one of those "whack-a-mole" games. Only its face stuck up out of the ground. He couldn't see the rest of its body. What was this "Diglett?" It was nothing he had ever seen before. He pointed his Pokedex at the strange Pokémon. The description on the screen said:

"Diglett, the mole Pokémon. It lives underground. Because of its dark habitat, it is repelled by bright sunlight.

Hmmm, that was an interesting Pokémon indeed. I wonder how the rest of its body looks, Bryce wondered. He picked a buff body under the ground. He couldn't help but laugh.

He had to keep going. He saw that there was someone approaching him. Was it a hiker? It sure looked like a hiker. What did he want with him? He didn't have time for a battle.

"Sorry I can't battle right now!" he said to the hiker and ran away really quick. He had to get his Pokémon healed as quickly as he could.

"I was just trying to get rid of all of these Full Restores I have," the hiker said in dismay. Of course, Bryce didn't hear him because he was preoccupied at the moment. He continued down the long dark hallway that was Oreburgh Gate. Next time I'm in the city, I'm going to buy more antidotes, he thought to himself. He should have stocked up on everything before he left. That's the last time I ever leave from somewhere in such a rush.

Shinx started to shiver again. She was getting close to fainting. He had to do something. He looked around. There was a small bottle with a green cross on it. An antidote! He had to go and get that. Shinx was saved! He ran up to the bottle, opened it up and poured it into Shinx mouth, but nothing came out! It was empty!

"Heh heh heh!" A trainer from the distance was laughing at him. "Are you really that desperate? Picking up trash from the ground?"

Bryce turned around to see a trainer with a large backpack was talking to him. He held a backpack and wore a GI. He must have been a Blackbelt.

"My Pokémon is poisoned! I need an antidote quick so that I can heal it!"

At this, the trainer smirked. "Really, and how did it get poisoned, hmmm? Did you carelessly let your Pokémon get poisoned?"

"No, it was an accident!" Shinx moaned again. "Look, I don't have time for this. I have to get to the Pokémon Center as soon as possible." Bryce turned around and began to walk toward the exit. He didn't have time to waste with this trainer. Shinx was close to fainting. He had to get to that Pokémon Center.

"Wait," the trainer said. What now? Bryce thought as he turned around. "I just might have what you need." Bryce reached out his hand to receive "what he needed."

"I tell you what, I'll give you an Antidote," at this, Bryce grew happy, "but, you have to beat me first." The happiness faded away. He should have known it was too good to be true.

He put Shinx down next to him. "Hang in there," he said to the hurting Pokémon. Then he called out Mankey and Surskit. The two Pokémon came out, eager to get this over with so that they could get some rest. They'd had enough fighting for one day.

The Blackbelt sent out an Onix and a Zubat. The battle was on.

"Onix, use Tackle! Zubat, use Supersonic!" While Onix charged at Mankey, Zubat let out a noise so loud and disturbing that a group of wild Zubat scattered away from the area. The supersonic hit Surskit who was left confused.

"Mankey, counter Tackle with Low Kick!" Mankey moved to the side and used Low Kick on the Onix. It was super-effective! Meanwhile, Surskit, who'd just been confused, didn't know which way it was going. It constantly bumped into walls, thinking them to be Pokémon.

"Ha! Your Surskit a bit on the slow side, isn't it?" the trainer gloated, "Zubat use Leech Life on the Surskit. Onix use bide!"

"Mankey, use Low Kick!" He didn't give Surskit an attack because he didn't want it to hurt itself any more.

Zubat bite the Surskit and sucked out some if its energy. Meanwhile, Onix started to store energy within its body. Mankey ran toward Onix and kicked it. The Onix only absorbed the damage. Surskit, on the other hand, snapped out of confusion.

"Surskit, use Quick attack, then use Bubble!" Surskit moved toward the Zubat at an amazing speed. It made a direct hit. Then, as the Zubat landed on the floor, it followed the attack up with Bubble. Both attacks made a direct hit with the Pokémon.

"Zubat, get back up and use Leech Life again!"

"Surskit, use Quick Attack to dodge! Then use Bubble!" Bryce knew that the Zubat was faster than Surskit so he decided to let the speed of Quick Attack help Surskit move out of the way. Then, Surskit released a stream of bubbles, knocking the Pokémon to the ground.

Onix released its Bide attack. It hit Mankey with twice the power that he'd dealt to Onix. Mankey grew frustrated. Bryce knew what this meant. It was time to use Anger Point.

"Mankey, Revenge!" Mankey unleashed all sorts of fury on the Onix. The attack was ruthless. The Blackbelt could only watch as his Onix was beaten down until he could take it no more. He recalled the Onix.

"Oh, right, you win," he said, admitting defeat. He began to walk away.

"Wait, aren't you forgetting something?"

"What?

"The antidote?"

"Oh, to tell the truth, I lied."

"You did what!" Bryce seemed as if he had Mankey's ability. All of his veins popped up and his face grew red. Steam escaped through his ears. "Why you, Mankey get him!" Bryce began to throw a tantrum.

"Hey, man, chill, okay?" The Blackbelt handed him a Potion. "This'll hold Shinx off until you get to a Pokémon Center." He also gave him two more potions and some money.

"Thanks, I guess," Bryce said, "and to think that I was about to sic Mankey on you."

"Sorry I lied. I saw how you were in such a hurry and I thought you weren't going to battle with me."

"Whatever" was all Bryce could say. He gave Shinx, Mankey, and Surskit each a Potion to drink and headed out of Oreburgh Gate. Finally, he was out of the cave and on safe grounds once more…

Rockman0 - Great post, I liked the deal with Shinx, good thing there's a fully working Center in the city then.

Congratulations, Mankey grew to lv. 12!
Congratulations, Surskit grew to lv. 6!

Approaching a huge rocky wall, Kenny and his pokemon saw a sign that read Oreburgh Gate ahead. Kenny smiled and ran as fast as he could while his pokemon struggled to keep up. Finally Kenny reached the part of the wall that looks like a gate to enter the tunnel. Kenny opened the gate doors and saw a dark tunnel that was barely lit by the dim lanterns hanging from its ceiling. The tunnel was full of pokemon running around and getting to the sides of the wall to keep out of the trainer's path. Pichu was frightened of the cave and did not want to enter. Sunny tried to comfort Chewy but it was no use.

Kenny walked over to Chewy and picked her up placing her on his head. She seemed to calm down being closer to her trainer. The trio entered the cave not knowing what is ahead of them.

"Welcome young man." A chubby man wearing a tan colored hiker's hat and a green long-sleeved shirt under a tan vest covered in pockets. "This is Oreburgh Gate. Straight ahead is the city of Oreburgh, which is home to the first gym in the Sinnoh League."

Feeling confident that he ready to battle gym leader, Kenny turned to Sunny with an enthusiastic look on his face trying to pump her up. Chewy hopped down from Kenny's head to his shoulder and began to stand in a fighting position.

"Wow is that a Pichu?" a young little girl said running up to Kenny pulling Chewy off his shoulder. "Oh my Arceus it is." The girl just hugged Chewy tighter spinning around the cave.

"Um excuse me." Kenny said quietly. "Can I get my pichu back?" The girl turned to Kenny and frowned as she held out Pichu. Chewy quickly jumped out of the girls hands and ran up Kenny's arms to hide in his hair.

"Sorry mister it is just I love pichu so much."

"It is not really a big deal but I am on my way to Oreburgh to battle the gym leader."

"I had a pichu but it ran somewhere in this cave and has been missing for about a week now."

Kenny felt sad about what had happened to the girls Pichu and he decided to help her look for her pokemon. The girls face began to glow with happiness as she clutched onto Kenny's arm as if her life depended on it.

"Thank you so much helping find my pichu." The little girl said staring up at Kenny with her big puppy dog eyes.

"No problem I guess." Kenny said quietly

Both Kenny and the girl made their way deeper into the cave while watching for the diglett that roamed the cave's floor. The ceiling had many zubat clustered together make Chewy flee to Kenny's bag. Kenny kept assuring Pichu that nothing bad was going to happen but she did not want to risk it. Sunny on the other hand seemed to be brave. She would jump up and attack anything that might have startled any of the humans.

Soon they heard faint crying in the distance. Chewy stuck her head out of Kenny's bag moving her ears trying to pick up the voice.

"Chaaaaaaaaaaa!" A loud scream was let out from the back of the cave making Kenny and the little girl sprint to the location.

"That was my Pichu." The girl said with absolute certainty. "I know his voice anywhere."

Approaching the end of the cave they noticed there were zubat clustered around something. The thing that was surrounded released a blue static discharge shocking every last zubat around it. Frantically flying away in fear the zubat made haste to get away from the pokemon.

"Pichu is that you." The girl said looking at her injured pokemon. The pichu looked up happy to hear its trainer's voice. The girl busted out in tears happy to see her pokemon.

"Hey look it the pichu I need to take of these water pokemon tormenting my team." A strange man said walking to the back of the cave.

"It's my Pichu and you can't have it." The girl said holding her pichu even tighter.

"I saw it first so hand it over."

"That is her pokemon; she lost it about a week ago." Kenny said fed up with this man's attitude.

"Who are you?"

"I am the one who is not letting you take Pichu." Chewy heard what her trainer said and thought he was talking about her and stuck her head out of his bag to see what was happening.

"Hey you have one too. Let's battle for it."

"Pichu is not some prize. They are pokemon that we worked hard to get and train."

"Fine I will take them by force. Let's go Golem!"

A huge greenish-brown boulder came out of the apriball and its legs, arms, and head were a tan color. The pokemon let out a roar trying to scare them away. Chewy jumped out ready to fight but Sunny stepped up and wanted to fight. With the relief of not having to fight, Pichu ran back to Kenny to get in his bag so she could hide again.

"Okay Sunny lets do it."

"Golem use rock blast and show them we mean business." The boulder like pokemon followed orders opening its mouth shooting out small rocks at the tiny turtle pokemon.

"Sunny dodge them and then use tackle." Sunny jumped quickly to her right dodging the first blast but was not fast enough to dodge the second one. She fell to the ground and then got up and dodged the next attack. Sunny was breathing hard after taking such a big hit from that pokemon who seemed to be fully evolved.

"Golem finish them with a stone edge." Golem created many sharp edged rocks in front of it and then fired them at Sunny. Sunny jumped up to dodge the attack and then set her focus onto golem. Suddenly a green aura started to form around Sunny and then it made its way to the Golem. The rock pokemon began to grow weak and fast while Sunny seemed to be healing herself.

"What is going on? What is happening?" The man said worried he might lose this fight.

"That is absorb. It is an attack that drains the foe's energy and heals the user." The girl said as she seemed relieved the battle was turn in there favor.

"Golem quick use rock blast!" Golem broke out of Sunny's attack and then opened its mouth launching several small boulders at Turtwig.

"Sunny use tackle and then use absorb." Turtwig ran into the rock breaking them and then stopped after about five shots to form a green aura that traveled from her to the rock pokemon. Golem looked too exhausted to move out of the way and took the attack. After the aura faded from both pokemon the rock pokemon stood there with its knees shaking and its body rotated as if it lost all of its energy and was about to fall.

"Quick use tackle!" Kenny shout to seal the battle. Sunny ran over to the Golem and hit it as hard as it could knocking the pokemon down. Its laid there motion less and its eyes began to spin.

"No Golem return." The man said running off after his defeat. The little girl ran up to Kenny happy that he won and he got to keep her pichu. Kenny walked over to Sunny and patted her on her back.

"You did a good job Sunny." She turned to Kenny smiling after he said that. Kenny opened his bag to grab Pichu. "Chewy thank you for trying to fight but I had to let Sunny take care of this one to build her confidence." Chewy nodded her head quickly and jumped out of his hands and went back into his bag. Kenny stood up and began to walk the girl back to the entrance of the cave.

The girl happily skipped through the cave as she was still so glad to be with her pichu again. Kenny walking beside the girl was just ready to have his first gym match. Finally coming up to the end of the cave Kenny took a deep breath before he walked through the light take separated him from his next battle.

Koroc - Great post I liked the search for the Pichu.

Congratulations, Sunny grew to lv. 12!

Selene decided that she would rather not have Kenai and Denahi both out and about. So, she picked up Kenai's Pokeball (or Apri Ball, in reality) and brought the little puppy inside. Denahi looked up at her, almost as if he was expecting something else to happen. Selene's eyebrow arched and she looked down at him. They looked at each other for a few moments, and then Selene cleared her throat. "Right," she muttered. Denahi looked at her in a rather curious way. "I suppose we'd best be off, huh? It would be nice to get to the next town before next year." Denahi said his name happily and trotted ahead of her. Selene cocked her head to the side and scratched it. What the heck? This was the most confusing Pokemon she had ever been around. With a sigh, she trailed after him.

"Denahi," Selene began, noticing that her Pokemon was refusing to allowing her to lead their walk. "Are you a bit controlling?"

Her Cranidos looked up and half leered at her. Uh oh. Selene grinned innocently. "Crani," Denahi snorted, huffing and turning ahead. Selene sighed. Crap. Now she had done it.

"I'm sorry, I was just curious. I can't figure you out," she stated, hurrying on after him. Denahi had picked up the pace. "I mean, normally Pokemon are easy to figure out, but you're...well crap, you're confusing as hell. I don't get you one bit really. I mean, one second you're completely awesome, and the next you're standoffish."

"Crani," Denahi muttered. He was still walking, but not as quickly. Selene opened her mouth to say something else, when Denahi suddenly perked up and started to growl. Selene looked up and saw someone rather tall standing in the horizon. There was a bird or something flapping about next to him. Selene eyed them curiously for a bit.

"Want to go check it out?"

"Crani!" Denahi declared. He began to quicken his pace, and Selene had to take long strides just to keep up.

Selene was soon able to make out certain features of this tall person. She could tell it was a he, just because of his height and broad shoulders. As they grew closer, Selene began to make out the finer details of this guy. He had dark shaggy hair that looked a bit curly. His face was sharp and angular. He was wearing cut off jeans for shorts, and his shirt was a button up white striped one. He had it unbuttoned, of course. His skin looked tan, but she was unable to tell if it was from the sun or not. She was about to make a wide circle around him, when he glanced over and saw her. She squeaked. His eyes were a greenish gold.

"Who're you?" His voice was fairly deep, so it led Selene to believe he was at least in his twenties.

"A person," she responded.

He blinked at her and then began to laugh. "I suppose that's fair." Denahi growled at him. The man looked down at Selene's Cranidos and silently regarded him. "This your Pokemon?"

"Yeah," Selene said slowly.

He regarded her quietly for a moment. "How would you like to battle me? Two on two. Doesn't have to be a double battle, but..." he trailed off, arching his eyebrow. Selene's lips twitched into a smile and she nodded. "Excellent."

It was an odd beginning, but a beginning nonetheless. The guy ordered his Pidgey to battle, and Selene decided to use Kenai. His ember attack would at least stand a fair chance of hitting the Pidgey, where Denahi's attacks would be mostly useless. She brought her Growlithe out, and the man regarded the puppy silently for a moment. Then he went first, ordering his Pidgey to use a sand attack. Selene yelled for Growlithe to dodge, which he managed to do. The puppy rolled to the side and the sand hit the empty air. Selene grinned widely and glanced at Kenai. She then ordered an ember attack.

"I see what you're doing," the man stated. "Pidgey, dodge that ember attack and then use quick attack. Blind the Growlithe with sand attack next. Do it quickly." This man seemed all about speed.

Pidgey chirped and then flew at Kenai with an alarming amount of speed. Selene's eyes widened and she watched as Kenai, unable to dodge because of the speed, got hit full on by the quick attack and went rolling to the side. Selene shouted for him to get out of the way, but the Pidgey was still stoked. It swiped its wings across the ground and kicked up a heavy amount of sand that slammed into her Growlithe's face. Selene brought her arm up to shield her eyes. The sand flew towards her as well, but then it subsided. Selene moved her arm away, and clenched her teeth. Kenai was practically blinded now. Selene eyed the Pidgey carefully as it hovered a ways away, staying just out of Growlithe's reach but close enough for a hard quick attack.

"Good job Pidgey. Now follow up with a tackle." The man seemed calm and confident.

"Kenai dodge it!" Selene called desperately.

Kenai looked about, and scuttled to one side, but Pidgey merely swerved and slammed into his side. Kenai howled in pain. Selene glowered at the Pidgey. She had no idea what the hell she was going to do with her Pokemon blinded. Kenai was looking blindly left and right now, obviously unable to figure out where Pidgey was going to come from. The man called for a gust attack, and Selene was rapidly trying to figure out what to do when Kenai's ears happened to twitch. Pidgey's attack slammed into him, but Selene suddenly figured out what would work. Growlithe had excellent hearing, didn't they? So why couldn't he listen? Blind people did it. Kenai was as good as blind right now, so it was going to work. It had to.

"Kenai, listen! Dodge when you hear Pidgey!" Selene called, knowing that the Pidgey's wingbeats would be audible. "Take charge and attack as you deem fit. Use ember."

Her Growlithe barked sharply in the affirmative. He stayed stock still. The man called for Pidgey to use a quick attack. He was obvious hoping that Pidgey would move to fast for Growlithe to be able to detect it, but that wasn't going to happen. Kenai didn't move, and it was easy to hear Pidgey whooshing through the air, slicing it with its wings. Just as it looked like Kenai wasn't going to respond, he growled and leapt out of the way easily. Pidgey slammed into the ground, and then Growlithe unleashed a flaming ember. It swallowed up the Pidgey, causing the bird to cry out and fly away. There was a heavy burn mark on its wing. It was obvious that the attack had hurt, because now Pidgey was flying a bit lopsided.

"Good job, Kenai," Selene said. Growlithe barked, wagging his fluffy cream tail happily. "Let's finish that injured birdie off. Jump up and use a bite attack!"

"Pidgey, watch out for the attack! Stay away from Growlithe and use gust!" he shouted, looking up at his tottering bird.

Pidgey cooed weekly, and that was its mistake. Its trainer cried out, realizing that as soon as Kenai's ears twitched and he leapt upwards. Pidgey squeaked and attempted to flap away, but Kenai knocked it down. Pidgey cried out, and then it was over as Kenai bit down. The burn had been most helpful to Selene and Kenai, but obviously not to the other trainer and his Pidgey. Kenai leaped off of Pidgey, rubbing his eyes with his paw and shaking a bit. Selene brought Kenai back, deciding to use water to rinse his face once the battle was done.

"Nice try Pidgey," the guy muttered, recalling his bird. "I have to say, that was a pretty good strategy. But I don't think your Cranidos will have fun with my next Pokemon. Let's go!" He tossed another shiny red orb. A flash of white light later, and a little purple thing was standing there and shaking itself. A male Nidoran.

"Alright, we've got this," Selene muttered, glancing at Denahi. "Ready to go?"

"Crani!" Denahi declared. Hell yes he was ready.

"Nidoran attack with leer." It seemed harmless, so Selene frowned. She wasn't sure what he was up to, but she was pretty sure she didn't want to let it happen. So, of course, she wasn't going to.

"Denahi let's get this over quick. Use headbutt," Selene said.

Denahi snorted and charged, intent on taking out that Nidoran all at once. The Nidoran seemed to be expecting something like this, however, because he stopped his leer attack and dove to the side. The Pokemon came out of a roll and whipped around, suddenly charging at Cranidos with its head lowered. Selene called for Denahi to dodge, which he did. Denahi leapt up and somehow managed to avoid the sharp horn, but the next thing he couldn't. The man had ordered a double kick attack, and suddenly (a bit too late) Selene realized what he was up to. Fighting attacks would especially hurt Cranidos. She clenched her teeth and watched as the attacks slammed into Cranidos, obviously majorly hurting her Pokemon.

"Denahi hang tough," Selene whispered, trying to form a new strategy for this particular Pokemon. "Let's try this. Use focus energy and then attack with stomp. If Nidoran comes at you, avoid the double kick."

Denahi, who was panting lightly, nodded slowly. He seemed to abruptly pause in the middle of the battle, for he stayed motionless and stared straight ahead. Nidoran snorted and pawed the ground. The men snorted and ordered a double kick, figuring that there was no way Denahi could pull himself out of a focus energy so quick. What he didn't know was that Denahi wasn't THAT slow, no matter how crappy his speed was. Nidoran charged once more, ready to hit Denahi with his feet. Just then, Denahi snapped out of it and basically did a roundhouse kick-stomp. His foot slammed into Nidoran's face, knocking the Pokemon against a tree and causing it to slump.

"Well I guess that worked well. Denahi, use headbutt!" Selene called, taking the opportunity while Nidoran was down and getting up.

Denahi charged, lowering his blue shiny head. Selene took a brief moment to wonder why his head was so blue and shiny, when Nidoran finally brought himself up. The other trainer ordered Nidoran to use a double kick. Denahi roared and Nidoran leapt up at the same moment. Their attacks collided, and suddenly there was a sharp crack. Selene couldn't see what had happened, because the tree they were pressed against had split in two and collapsed. Denahi and his opponent were nowhere to be seen. Both trainers looked around wildly, where there was another crash and Denahi came tumbling through some bushes. Nidoran came charging in after.

They hit each other attack and again with the attacks. Both were slowly getting so battered and beaten, but neither would back down. If Denahi fell, Nidoran would gain the edge. If Nidoran fell, Denahi would gain the edge. They refused to fall and continued charging and slamming each other. Nidoran was attack Denahi with a peck attack now, and Denahi was still using a headbutt. Selene winced as she heard the heavy thud of their heads butting. It totally sounded like it hurt like ****.

The trainers looked at each other, and it was mutual. Selene sighed and grabbed Denahi's Pokeball, and the man brought out his own Pokeball. They returned their Pokemon, and suddenly it was silent. Selene shook her head and walked up to the man. He was holding out his hand. She shook it silently.

"I guess that last match was a draw," he muttered. A smile appeared on his face, "But good job on the first one."

"Thanks," Selene said. She sort of wanted her hand back, but he didn't seem to be releasing it anytime soon. She made a tugging motion, but he didn't let go. "Er...I'm Selene, by the way," she offered, wondering when he'd deem fit to let go. His smile deepened.

"Jake," he declared. "You're not half bad, you know. Maybe we'll meet again, right?" Jake chuckled and finally let her hand go. Selene blinked a few times, and then nodded dumbly. "See ya," he said. He shouldered a backpack that had suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and then walked off in the direction of Jubilife City. Selene blanched, staring after this guy. What a weirdo. Selene wondered how many other people she'd meet that totally creeped her out in the future.

Fen - Nice post, late but nice :D

Chapter Five
Oreburgh City
Gym Battle
Number of Posts: 1

Welcome to Oreburgh City, it's a small mining community, with a big mine located on the outskirts of the town. There isn't a whole lot in the town, apart from a small museum and the newly built Gym.
The houses are all made in dark brick, making the town look rather dark surrounded in the rock. The gym itself is the only exception, it has the same light metal exterior that makes all of the Gyms look so modern compared to the rest of the region. But even the Mart and the Center are made of the same black brick, but with colorful roofs to show their purpose.

Pokémon Center:

Pokemon Centers provide you with a warm bed. Rest for the night or heal up your Pokémon here. They also have a lobby with chairs and tables and a coffee/tea machine for waiting while the Nurses revitalize your Pokémon.

Pokémon Mart:

Items for sale:

Potion
Anitdote
Paralyz Heal
Tunnel Mail
Pink Apri Ball*

*Pink Apri Balls are entirely painted in a soft pink, apart from the white stripe that runs in the middle, where the Ball opens. Pink Apri Balls are used to capture Pokémon that already have a positive connection to the Pokémon opposite them. Positive connections include attraction (Natural and Attract-induced), friendship and natural curiosity. These special Apri Balls have been equipped with a catch-feature which allows you to open the Balls when pushing at the button in the middle, which loosens the catch inside and makes the Ball spring open. Close them by snapping the shut quickly.

Oreburgh Mining Museum:

The Oreburgh Mining Museum is a small building that is showcasing rare minerals and artifacts that have come from the mine. They also have a few fossils that did not get sent overseas to be revitalized, and there's even some archeological artifacts on display. Entrance comes with a small fee.

In the back of the Museum is man who will give you an item if you show him a particular Pokémon.

NOTE: All the items are small and tied to a ribbon, so that your Pokémon may wear them without getting inconvenienced by them.
SECOND NOTE: You may only show him one Pokemon, so choose wisely.

The OreBurgh Gym:

The Oreburgh Gym is lead by a young miner named Byron, who originates from the same town. He's the pride of the city, the young 19-year-old that works regularly in the mines also. The boy's been mining since he was legally allowed to, and has grown quite fond of both Rock and Steel Pokémon, drawing no preferences. He was picked out especially by the league as the first official Gym Leader that the trainers should come across, should they take the official gym-route. Of course, not everyone is taking the official route this year, but for those that do, he'll be your first obstacle.

Selene felt rather proud of herself by the time she made it to the Oreburgh Gate. She had just beaten several wild Pokemon and a trainer, and she was beginning to feel a bit more confident in her abilities. Sure, Denahi had almost fainted and they had to end the match in a draw, but Kenai was still in decent enough shape to keep her going to Oreburgh City. She found a wide grin on her face that soon disappeared when she remembered Kenai. She then released him from his ball and grabbed a water bottle. The little puppy was still swiping at his eyes, and Selene could see fine grains of sand there. She crouched down and cupped his furry face in her hand. Kenai wrinkled his nose at the sight of the water and feel of it, but soon he seemed to like it. Moments later, his eyes were pretty clear and he looked a lot better.

"There," Selene muttered, scratching his head lightly.

"Growl," he barked happily.

"Well, let's get through this and to Oreburgh. I'm ready for a nice long nap," Selene declared. "And a warm bed. That's nice too."

They continued on, Kenai trotting at her side happily. Selene kept him out instead of Denahi, mostly because Denahi was exhausted and stubborn. If he saw another Pokemon he would most likely want to fight it, and that would prove to end badly. He was much too weak to go through another battle, so Selene was keeping him safe. She hopped over a boulder, and Growlithe followed her loyally. They travelled through the tunnel in mostly silence, occasionally stopping for a five minute rest before going on. Selene began to grow happier as she saw light at the end of the tunnel. They were almost through. She opened her mouth to mention it to Kenai, when there was a sudden screech.

There, about five feet away, was a Zubat. It didn't look like a very happy Zubat either. The bat flapped about silently, almost glaring at Kenai and Selene. Selene blanched. Why did it always have to be like this? Why couldn't the wild Pokemon ever be HAPPY when they wandered through. It wasn't like she was doing much of anything to piss it off anyway, but of course it looked mad. Such a surprise. Stupid, stupid bad tempered Pokemon. Selene sighed.

"I suppose you'd rather not let us go through," she said dryly to the flapping bat. It screeched and fluttered about, beating its wings harshly. That was so a no. "Fine. Kenai, let's do this fast. I really want that bed," Selene declared. Kenai barked sharply, obviously declaring that he was ready to take a rest too. This Zubat was the only thing preventing them.

For once, Kenai actually looked a bit mad. Maybe he was a bit more tired than Selene had first thought, because he was snarling like a maniac at the Zubat. Zubat screeched and then zoomed in. Kenai snarled and shot a bright burst of ember at the wild thing. It dodged in a roll and continued to sharply fly towards Selene's Growlithe. Kenai continued to shoot off short bursts of ember, but the Zubat easily dodged them. It seemed to be used to dodging things. Probably came from living in a cave.

"Kenai, use bite to get it slowed down. Then attack with ember," Selene declared.

Kenai nodded once. Zubat suddenly attached to Growlithe, and Selene wasn't even sure how Zubat had suddenly leeched onto her Pokemon, but it had. Kenai shook himself in an attempt to get the crazy bat off, but it wouldn't budge. Selene blinked slowly, unable to believe that the bat was like...what the heck was it doing anyway? She pulled out her Pokedex to figure it out. Oh...well, that could've been it. The Zubat knew leech life. She glanced up, and saw that Kenai's shakes were getting weaker.

"Kenai, get that Zubat off with ember!" Selene called, knowing that it would be potentially dangerous for Kenai if that evil lifesucker continued to leech off of him.

Kenai growled and began his thrashing in a more violent way once again. He slammed the Zubat against a rock, and this caused the Pokemon's grip to lessen. Kenai shot a quick burst of fire at the Zubat's wing, and it suddenly let go. Kenai panted harshly as he eyed the Zubat. It was hovering a safe distance away, but it didn't look like it wanted to back down anytime soon. Of course it didn't, why would it? Nothing ever wanted to make anything easier. Nope. Kenai growled and shot a blast of fire at Zubat. The attack missed, mostly because Zubat did that little roll thing and dodged it. Selene's eye twitched. How fast was that thing anyway?

"Alright, be that way then," she grumbled huffily. "Kenai attack with..." she trailed off, suddenly having a brilliant idea. "Ha! Attack with roar!"

Kenai blinked, looking a bit confused. Then suddenly he snarled. The Zubat screeched and fluttered away, obviously disliking this. Selene smirked. There, problem solved. No more battling. She let out a rather content breath, and then began towards the tunnel once more. They were SO close to getting out. Just one more step and-

"GROWL!" Kenai snarled, whipping around and shooting off a burst of ember. It was that damned Zubat again. Selene couldn't believe it. She groaned and pulled at her hair.

"Why me?" With a sigh, she glanced at Kenai. "I guess we'll have to finish this then. Use ember and don't let up! Figure out where that Zubat will go. If it gets near you, use a bite attack."

Zubat had unleashed a supersonic, but Growlithe managed to avoid the waves of confusion. He shot several ember puffs in Zubat's direction, and the Pokemon began to flutter about as it dodged. Kenai shot two off in rapid succession, and while the Zubat was dodging one of them, he failed to dodge the second. The wild bat fluttered to the cave floor, and then got up. He flew sharply towards Kenai, obviously going for that creepy leech attack that he used the first time. Kenai was ready and expecting it this time. He growled and crouched, ready to pounce. Selene watched with a bit of apprehension. Just as she feared Kenai was going to time the attack wrong, he leapt from the ground and met Zubat midair. The Pokemon look surprised as Kenai's jaws clamped down on its body and threw it to the ground.

"Good one, Kenai," Selene said. "Finish it off with a close range ember attack."

Kenai did just that. He shot a stream of fire in Zubat's face, and moved away. Zubat was done for. It lay on the cave floor silently, and Selene turned away. Kenai glanced at the bat over his shoulder, and then followed his trainer out of Oreburgh Gate. They had finally made it.

Fen - Again, nice post. Sounds like Selene finally gets that bed now, hm?

Congratulations, Kenai grew to lv. 11!

A soft humming sound awoke Ethan from a deep, peaceful sleep. For a few minutes he couldn't be convinced to open his eyes, but finally he did with a yawn. With the addition of his vision he could see that Caterpie was the source of the sound. She was already awake and seemed to be searching for food as she crawled across the floor and nosed under the bed and television stand. "Hey you," he said quietly, mindful that the occupants of other rooms might not be awake yet. She looked up, peeped happily, and crossed the room in the blink of an eye. Her sticky feet gave her the ability to climb up the blanket hanging over the side of the bed, into Ethan's lap. He stroked her back while he knitted the events of the night before together mentally. "Are you hungry?" he asked finally. She chirruped and turned in a little circle like a puppy. He laughed and picked her up, setting her on his shoulder. "I have food in my bag."

He searched the room before he remembered he'd left the bag near the door, where he'd shrugged it off. When he looked it was indeed there. Seeing as his mother had packed it he had some difficulty finding the bag of Pokemon food she had left securely at the bottom of the largest pocket, but he managed. There was no bowl so he poured it on a sheet of paper and asked her to make sure she didn't nudge food off either end. Thrilled at the concept of making master happy she did so, eating much more slowly than a Caterpie normally would.

In the same pocket he found crackers and a can of cheese. That would do for his breakfast, he decided, since he didn't feel like buying a meal he likely wouldn't finish; as tiring as the previous day had been he was oddly not hungry. He munched, deep in thought, sure he was forgetting something. Perhaps it was just Caterpie's name. As he watched her eat an option he'd come up with came back to him. Verde. Logic had ruled it out, stating that she wouldn't always be green, but the name was so beautiful. Besides, he couldn't count on the whole world to know it meant green. Besides that, it simply sounded beautiful.

"Verde," he said aloud. Caterpie looked up instantly. Ethan took that to mean she liked it. "Do you want to be Verde?"

She purred, and determining it was a fair answer, returned to her nearly finished breakfast. "Verde," he repeated.

Then he really remembered what he had forgotten. He jumped to his feet and hurried to the bedside table, where the gorgeous Apriball remained, the decorations glinting in the early morning sunlight.

"We never did see who our new partner was," he commented more to himself than anyone else. He picked the ball up, almost afraid of leaving fingerprints on the smooth surface. Heart thudding from excitement, he pressed the button in the middle. A jet of white light streamed as the ball opened, then fell empty in his hands. The light gracefully materialized into a small fox-like Pokemon. From its size, air of grace, and facial construction Ethan was fairly sure it was a female. Curious as to what she was he pulled out his Pokedex and pointed it at her.

"Vulpix, the Fox Pokemon. At the time of birth it has just one tail. As it grows this separates into six. When it evolves the number of tails nearly doubles."

He raised an eyebrow as he looked her over. "How many tails do you need?"

Taken aback, she huffed and turned her back on him to hop up on the bed. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you."

She growled to signify that she was in no mood to argue. He sighed. "You'll have to grow to like me eventually. I'm your new trainer and I'm not going anywhere." Instead of responding positively she merely growled again. Verde was enticed by the idea of meeting a new Pokemon and approached cautiously. The Vulpix ignored her completely, almost as if she thought herself too dignified for Verde, Ethan, and the entire situation. Ethan, however, would not be so easily discouraged. He reached out a hand and began to stroke her fur. She stiffened under his touch but did not otherwise complain. He then felt a leather strap around her neck. "You have a collar?"

To her dismay he picked her up and turned her to face him so that he could see it. It was highly decorated with flame-like designs, as on her Apriball. A silver tag dangled delicately on a small loop. "Flare," he read aloud. She glanced up at him, affirming that was her name. "It's a pretty name."

The compliment seemed to be accepted. Though she backed away from him and did not allow him to touch her again, she scrutinized him, head tilted. He looked back at her, impressed by her silky fur and waving tails. She was a beautiful Pokemon, it just seemed that she needed help with her outlook on life. Then again, she'd just been thrust into an entirely new life with no opportunity to voice her opinion. She had a new master, a new team, and a new expectation for how she should behave. No wonder she was upset.

"Are you hungry?" he asked more softly this time. Flare's ears perked up in answer. He poured her food onto a sheet of paper as he had for Verde and put it down for her. She didn't seem friendly to the idea at first, but hunger overtook her spoiled inclinations and she began to dine slowly, with manners and grace. Watching her speed, Ethan determined he had more than enough time to ready himself for the day. He managed a shower, change of clothes, and quick sweep of the room to make sure he'd left nothing by the time she was finished. When the paper was clear he crumpled it up and threw it away along with Verde's. He then hoisted his bag onto his back and picked up Flare's Apriball. He started to recall her, then thought twice. "Would you like to stay out?" She responded with a 'Vul,' which he took to mean yes. So he stowed her ball in his overlarge pocket alongside Verde's. Verde climbed up his jeans and onto his shoulder, where she looked down at Flare as thought wondering where she was going to be. From the fox's position at his feet he was fairly certain she preferred to walk, so he lead the way out of the room and locked the door behind him.

When he thought about it Ethan could think of nowhere he needed to go before he left Jubilife. His team was in top condition and healthy, he had all the medicines he could possibly need, and there was nothing else that might beckon to him, so his path led him straight out of the city. They were soon consumed by ravenous trees, surrounded on either side by the humming and squeaking of various Pokemon. While Ethan and Verde were comfortably at ease, due to the fact that nothing had jumped out and eaten them the previous day, Flare stayed close to him. It was safe to assume she had never been outside of Jubilife before, perhaps even the house. So he paid careful mind to her, watching her to see if she would panic and run off. She remained composed, despite her nerves. It was a trait he could respect.

From behind bushes he could see wild Pokemon peeking over, most notably curved antenna. He knew those to be Kricketot, since they were a common sight all over the Sinnoh region. But he had absolutely no interest in them. He already had Verde for a bug type, and he didn't much care to raise another one. His team had severe holes in it, he knew. He had two inexperienced Pokemon. Not only would he benefit from having more members, but they needed to get stronger as well. That was when he made up his mind: he would focus on getting stronger before he tried to catch anymore Pokemon. What could be so irresistible that he would prefer to get it than to get stronger?

'Abra, the Psi Pokemon. Using its psychic power is such a strain on its brain that it needs to sleep for eighteen hours a day. Using its ability to read minds, it will sense danger and teleport to safety, even when asleep.'

Ethan raised a brow in interest. He would have to have this Pokemon. Despite what he had just promised himself, it was too good an opportunity to pass up. "Flare, get at it," he commanded. She glared at him and sat down firmly. "What's your problem? I said, go! Fight!"

She growled at him and lay down, crossing her paws delicately beneath her head. Clearly she thought fighting a sleeping Pokemon was beneath her, perhaps all fighting. It would take some effort to train her, he realized. But instead of being frustrated he changed his tactic.

"Alright Verde, you do it." She squeaked happily and skittered down his body to stand in front of the Abra.

"Use String Shot to keep it in place," he ordered. Verde spat a sticky string at her enemy at a measured pace, tying its arms to its torso and its ankles together. Without opening its eyes it disappeared. Ethan looked around furiously to discover that it had moved just a few feet away, nearer to a small body of water. "After it!" He jogged over near to it with Verde hot on his heels. Flare followed at her own pace, amused by the entire affair.

"Alright, use Bug Bite." Verde lunged at the Abra and caught hold of it with her mouthpart. It made a soft sound like a sigh and disappeared again. This time it moved just a short distance along the shore line. Instead of chasing after it, Ethan decided to continue the capture from where he stood. "Alright, use String Shot!" Verde once again loosed a gooey debilitating substance from her mouth. It hit the Abra with amazing precision. Deciding that he would be unable to get the Pokemon more immobile than it already was Ethan threw a Pokeball. It flew in a graceful arc towards Abra and went right through it. His mouth fell open as it fell in the water, bounced back, opened up, and sucked something inside it. It landed in the shallows where it shook repeatedly, though much weaker than it had with Rattata. He crossed his fingers, hoping the ball would lose its catch, praying if it didn't it was at least something good.
