[PokeCommunity.com] The NEW Rom Hacking Newsletter Team
    Introduction[a id]intro[/a id]

Well, as you should know by now, Thrace has quit the RHN and I nominated myself for the job of running it. Hopefully now we will be able to make the RHN even better then it was when Thrace was running it; maybe even get an issue without a spelling error. Anyway, this thread will pretty much just be a replacement for the old one. You can join the team, or just discuss what's going on about the newsletter.

If anyone from the old team wants to be on the new team, just post.

    Current Team[a id]team[/a id]

    Darthatron
    Head Editor/Interviewer
    Mac_Mini
    Back-up Editor/Reporter
    I'm Betting On Alice.
    Reporter
    Disturbed
    Interviewer
    0m3GA ARS3NAL
    Reporter
    Ninja Caterpie
    Hack Reviews/Map Reviews
    Vrai
    Reporter

    Rules[a id]rules[/a id]

    • Any article you wish to be in the newsletter must be submitted by Saturday morning.
    • Articles should be sent via PM to both Mac_Mini and Darthatron.
    • The editors have the final say on which articles are submitted.
    • 6 weeks without contributing an article without a good reason will get you kicked off the team.
    • Any ideas or suggestions should be posted here so the entire team can discuss it.
    • If you are not in the team but wish to submit an article post it here, it will most likely be edited here and there but you will get full credit.
    • Only hacks with a playable demo or a considerable amount of work done are eligible for reviewing.
    • If you are on the team and you wish to give a rating to a hack not reviewed by yourself then post it here.
    • Only maps that are posted in the Map Rating Thread from Saturday of one week to Saturday of the next week will be eligible for that week.
    • If you get an award or rating we encourage you to place it in your thread.
    • If you feel a rating/award/review you have received for your work was unfair/biased please post your reasons here.
    • Awards given are non-negotiable.

    Application Form[a id]join[/a id]

You can apply for any job except Editor and Interviewer. For the Proof of Work, simply write an article about anything to do with Rom Hacking. It can be about absolutely anything, from Hack Reviews to a report about a thread. I will have the final decision on who is accepted and who is not.

I will more than likely update this later tonight to change rules, and update the team list. STAY TUNED!

Can I be back in the team?

Hmm...to think of a good hack to review for the Hack Review.

Oh, who's going to rate HotW, btw?

Hmmm I'm still trying too think of a new CSS design.
Anyway it's good that the new threads made.
We are probably going to release the next Issue in 2 weeks
Should we continue from 23 or go back to 1?

Uh, we should probably continue off from 23, I'd think. Also, I would like to come back. :D

Btw, Darcy, you should probably fix the part in the rules that tells us to submit our articles to dshayabusa and Kawaii..

I say we continue from 23.

Thanks for pointing that out. *edits*

Also, I will add you back to the list.

Darcy, I can basically do anything for it, except CSS :P
Like, hack reviews (as you know I could, since I did it for one issue.)
Also, methinks the application you have is stoopid.

    I made myself one.

    Name: Disturbed

    ...
    That's about it. :D
Glad to see RHN continuing from its former glory!

Ok, so the plan is for the first issue to come out this Sunday. So I need you all to send me your articles by Saturday morning, that way I'll have all of Saturday night/Sunday morning to edit it, and then we might actually get an article out on time, and with no errors.

Also, if anyone has nothing to do PM me or send me a visitor message and I'll give you something to do.

    That is all.

    *flies away*

I'll review a Hack seeing as we only have one hack reviewer

Everyone has seen the state of hacks today. Some say that the good ones are just
too much hype, and just a so-so game, and some really don't know what they're
talking about. Games today just aren't getting through to people. A few games seem
to never be finished, and a few never started. What we need to see more of is a small team
of dedicated individuals willing to spend time on a game, not just doing the occasional
piece of work. We need to see more than just one leader amassing a huge team to do
all the work. Moving on to tilesets. Tile sets, as most may know, are basically the puzzle
pieces of a map. You put them together to create one. Most are content with the normal default
game tile set, but it's always great to see some originality when it comes to the essential
puzzle pieces of the game. Next, the storyline. A hack with great scripting, next-gen Pokemon,
different style, new tile sets, and all sorts of other interesting things is great, but the
thing that really pulls the game together is the storyline. I mean, how would a Pokemon game turn out
that's boring? That's why we need to have some original, well thought out
stories. Think of it as a playable role-play.

Finally, we need to discuss grammar. No one wants to play a game like this:

In A.D. 2101. War was beginning.
    Cue explosion.
    OAK: What happen?
AIDE: Somebody set up us the bomb.
    AIDE 2: We get signal.
    OAK: What ! !
AIDE 2: Main screen turn on.
Cue RED appearing on main screen.
    OAK: It's you ! !
RED: How are you gentlemen. All your Pokemon are belong to us.
OAK: What you say ! !
RED: You are on the way to destruction.
RED: You have no chance to survive make your time.*

-And that's why you need grammar. After all this, I hope you manage to pull together
a game. But, don't just 'pull it together', blow me away! I want to see some MAGNIFICENCE!

    For great justice!

*If you don't understand the example, Google and/or search on YouTube, "All Your Base Are Belong To Us".

It's a good report, it definitely kept me interested while reading it, the mix between comedy and seriousness is well done. You're in. :D

By the way, there were some grammar mistakes, nothing major though. :P

EDIT: Jesse, you can't be added until you give me something that shows you can actually write. :P

Darthy, add me as "Back-Up Reviewer"
    cuz

You know what I can do, since I did it for you once or twice :P

    We have enough interviewers, Mike.
Can you review a hack or something?

I didn't get time to do anything for the RHN because of heaps of homework.
I was going to write a report about the Kyledove\Waudby saga, but I don't know really

I suck at hack reviews. When ever I submitted some to Thrace, they were never good enough. (even to me)

Well, since it's going to be made once every two weeks now, does that mean we'll have twice the amount of things in the RHN? Like, reviewing 3~4 hacks, etc.

If we'd do something like that, I'm sure we could have both Jake and Michael do interviews, but just put two up in the next RHN. :/

Interview someone and PM it to me, if it's any good then you can be back-up interviewer.
