Yea, I'm new here too. I joined a few months ago but as I am a very VERY lazy person I haven't really done anything :P (exept playing some hacks :B).
But I find this site awesome, and I know I'll enyoy my stay.
BTW I wuuuwz the Stunfisk theme (Stunfisk is one of my fave 5th gen pokémon)!

I'm going to assume you are asking how to play ROM hacks that other people have made. So:

1. Go to the Hacks Showcase subforum: https://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=184
2. Pick a hack that you would like to play.
3. Download the patch for that hack.
4a. If it is a .ips patch, use Lunar IPS to patch it onto a clean ROM.
4b. If it is a .aps patch, use A-Ptch to patch it onto a clean ROM.

Remember to patch it onto the same ROM that the hack was made from (so if the hack was made from a FireRed ROM, don't patch it onto an Emerald one, etc).

AlfaTyrogue here! I am very new at this site and found it when I searched for ROM hacks.
I am from the small country called Denmark between Norway, Germany and Sweeden, and my little country (apart from being the worlds oldest running kingdom) is home of LEGO, H.C.Andersen and the worlds oldest rollercoaster :)

I like pokémon and I am okay at spriting especially at making maps. Me and some other danes are going to make a ROM hack and I'm looking for an unused gemstone to represent it xD

Im simply training a Mawile for competitive use.

I have everything planned out

Nomtasia (Female, Adamant, Sheer Force) (Item: ???) (255 Attack, 255 HP [Too lazy to use the other 4 EVs, k?] )

Fire Fang
Iron Head
Rock Slide
Metal Burst

And Im using Mawile because theyre so darn adorable. >w<

Oh, I completely understand that you're new and JUST signed up here. Do you plan to start the Monotype challenge very soon? As well as planning on trying out/make a hack?

That's awesome. I've always wanted to try out a grass-type monotype challenge, but ehh. I have a lot on my plate atm, so hopefully soon when I have plenty of time in my hands. Good luck with it, though!

Well most pokémon are just straight out boss!
I love pokémon and I've been lovin' it (ba ba ba ba baaa! xD) for a long time now!
I'm in a lot of Danish forums, cuz Danish, and this is probably the first pokémon forum in English I've ever been part of.
I hope I'll get along here :)

Oh, and by the way! Tyrogue isn't boss. He was Chuck Norris' starter! :O

i was meaning kinda like a facebook thing lol ( it tells you when someone posts ) so i dont need to run around all my posts and try and re find then just to end up on another thread reading everything lol

Nahh, we don't have stuff like that. Well, there is thread subscriptions- you can have it email you with new posts. Or there is a slightly different icon next to places you've posted in.
 
cool thanks for the heads up.. now i just put a pic up on my profile hoping iwould see it everytime i post but its not there. HELP lol.
