The Nostalgia Thread

The few games that can really evoke a nostalgic response in me include Baldur's Gate, StarCraft, and Diablo II. I can still remember the days when BioWare and Blizzard were actually capable of writing reasonably decent plots for their games.

Pokémon Puzzle Challenge was also a popular timewaster for me back in the day. Seriously, that game is underrated.

I will always remember The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. My neighbor used to let me borrow it all the time, and I typically would have it, and play it, for months at a time. Eventually, I went to bring it back to her house one day, after the, like, 12th time of borrowing it, and she just said "Jared keep it, my kids never play it, so you can just have it." I was like "BEST. NEIGHBOR. EVER." at the time. XD

I also remember getting Mario Paint, but not realizing I needed the mouse to play the game. So I got home and put it in, just to find out I couldn't play it. I had to wait a month before I could go back to the store to get the mouse to go along with it. XD

I may have more memories later. XD

All you people are going back to the classic Nintendo games, and I'm just sitting here remembering how I would play my old Rugrats Playstation2 game back when I was 7.

Oh my god, the games that take me back are:

Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 2
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World
The Legend of Zelda
Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire
Pokemon Emerald
Kirby's Adventure
Kirby Superstar
Kid Icarus
Metroid Fusion
Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Duck Hunt
Donkey Kong
Mario vs Donkey Kong
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Super Mario 64
Yoshi's Story
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
Sonic Advanced
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Crash Bandicoot

1. Spyro The Dragon
2. Crash Bandicoot
3. Super Mario Bros. Deluxe
4. Super Metroid
5.The Legend Of Zelda
6. Mega Man 2

My top...er...six. I used to play spyro and crash all the time.

Pong, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot (PS1) Pokémon Blue, Red, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald (GBC/GBA) They're all the nostalgic games.. that I can think of that I own, I love them all!

Right now, I'm listening to the soundtrack of Spyro the Dragon, and although I wasn't that young when it came out, it was still part of my childhood. I'm seriously considering buying the collector's version of the original trilogy.

The other games that I remember playing when I was young are Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Mega Man 2, Yoshi and Yoshi's Cookie, and Life Force. I vaguely remember playing the Atari 2600, but no specific games. Just the console.

Spyro: Year of the Dragon is the game that fills me with the most nostalgia. I think it's because it was the first game I got a 100% completion ratio on, but that's just a guess. If I could somehow play that game (didn't play the others in the trilogy), that would make me an insanely happy man.

Spoiler:

My first gaming experience, when I was like, two years old.
My family had a commodore 64 in the attic from when they first came out. Thing would take ages to boot.
Then I discovered the SNES and forgot all about it.

Pokemon Yellow and Silver! I remember sitting behind my couch (only because the outlet was there and i had a chargeable battery pack) playing those games!

The Spyro the Dragon original trilogy.

That is all.

YotD was the best game in it, period, although the other two were excellent too. I remember really not liking Spyro 2 but I got over it as I played it when I was a little older... might have been that whole "WHERE'S THAT LAST GEM" rage or something.

I remember playing Crash Bandicoot 2 and Crash Team Racing way too much when I was a kid and that Tomba game where you had the jungle boy with pink hair and he would throw pigs.

Also the original Kingdom Hearts, the only one in the series I honestly enjoyed and was willing to play through it more than once.
