Guess I'll hop aboard the Thousand Sunny and set sail for some One Piece discussion.

I'm only just done reading Fishman Island so I won't be up to date for a little while yet mind.

Yeah, I'm gonna join, I love One Piece!!! But I'm not gonna hop aboard the Thousand Sunny, I'll have my own ship!

So, should I go ahead and fill in the Pirate Profile? Or should I do it later? I have some awesome devil fruit ideas and I'm really indecisive xD

Just what do you think that is?! Keep in mind that the ship in the picture is as big as a whole island, so I seriously doubt it's a sea king or any other creature!
My first thought was that it's another shadow from a sky island (Just like they saw before they went to Jaya), but it has eyes! So that can't be it...
Then I've been thinking, since Gecko Moria sailed these waters for 10 years, it could be something huge built by the marines (Some awesomely huge weapon, maybe?). But it is confirmed that that thing is responsible for most ship disappearances in the Florian Triangle, (Ships have been disappearing long before Thriller Bark showed up), but I doubt the Marines would destroy innocent ships... So, what do you think it is?

The SPOILER contains a picture and some info that were revealed immediately after the Thriller Bark ark, so if you've watched those episodes, you're fine.

I haven't been watching much of the anime since I wasn't too big on the Fishman arc in the manga, so I'm waiting for it to finish to watch it in one go.

I think I might post my pirate profile in one of my next few posts.

Personality: Love to party, but serious when needed (Kinda like Shanks)
History: *Will add later*
Abilities: Tome Tome no Mi*, armament haki (Still weak), almost no knowledge in weaponry.
Jolly Roger: A skull and crossbones with a star behind it.

* Tome Tome no Mi ("Tomeina" means "transparent") is a Paramecia-type devil fruit which allows its user to become transparent (Not invisible, just like a ghost transparent). The user can make either some parts of his body transparent, or his whole body (Except the feet, kind of like the Bara Bara no Mi). While in that "ghost-like" transparent state, everything passes through the transparent body parts, and they themselves pass through everything (So it's impossible to land a hit and it's impossible to get hit).
Strengths: The Tome Tome no Mi allows the majority of the users body to become impossible to hit. The user could still make his hands non-transparent and land hits with them.
Weaknesses: It's impossible to make the feet transparent. The user can still be hit with armament haki.

I hope this is better xD If the devil fruit seems "too powerful", I'll gladly change it to something weaker. I still have lots of devil fruit ideas xD

That's a nice profile, Alex. Fills out all the basics fair enough.
But I do have a bit of a problem with your Devil Fruit.
I'm not sure if you're aware, but there already is a Devil Fruit that utilizes 'darkness'.
Maybe you could use kuro for a more specific ability than 'the power of darkness'.
It would probably also have to be a Paramecia, if you want to keep the kuro theme.
From what I understand, Kuro/Kura are more used for the color black, but can sometimes mean 'dark/darkness' (like Yami).

Yeah, of course I know about the Yami Yami no Mi. But this is a different darkness I'm talking about.
I'll go ahead and change it, anyway - I have lots of other devil fruit ideas xD Although this'll mean I'll have to change my whole profile. Oh well...

It just seems too similar to the Yami Dark-Dark Fruit's theme, to me.

My reactions to the latest manga chapter...

Well this was quite a surprising and interesting chapter.

Smiley sure had the intelligence of a Salamander. xD

About that fruit in the sled, I'm not sure what happened there.
I'm not even fully sure if that fruit is now a devil fruit.
Here are my two theories about it...

• Smiley kind of just died, so his powers turned back into a devil fruit.
• The reaction of Smiley turning into the shi-no-kuni gas some how affected the fruit and turned it into what looks like a devil fruit.

I wonder how the Straw Hats, Marines, and Law will deal with the Shi-no-kuni Gas.
I'm guessing that it will cover a majority of the island before the arc is over.
And Caesar probably engineered the gas so that it's tough to get rid of.

I'm guessing that either Monet or Law threw the note to Chopper.
And both present interesting possiblities...
If Monet did it, then that means she could be secretly against Caesar/Vergo.
If Law did it, then he's a pretty sneaky guy, and it probably ties in with his 'counter attack'.

Also, does anyone else think that the silhouette, in the right panel, that's watching Caesar's demonstration looks like Rob Lucci? o.0

The fruit in the basket sure is really weird. My first thought was "Holy crap Caeser can create devil fruits!". I've never really thought about the "Smiley died and it's his devil fruit" theory, but I did think that maybe Caeser just made it look like a devil fruit, while it either remained a normal fruit or became poisonous.
And yeah, that looks like Rob Lucci... would be awesome if he'd reappear. He was really strong O_o

Affiliations; Quicksilver Pirates ; Captain, Helmsman, Navigator

Appearance; Hermes is a slender and muscular man; standing about 5'11" (1.8m). Blue eyes, silver goatee, and silver colored wavy hair that extends a few inches below his shoulders. Hermes has a black fedora hat, which serves as one of his trademarks. His clothing consists of a gray dress shirt, black slacks and black leather dress shoes. Tattooed on his right hand is the symbol for the planet/element Mercury.

Personality; Hermes is usually a calm and collected person. He tends to be sarcastic to others if they are annoying him, though. Hermes has great respect for his crew mates and will do everything possible to keep them from harm if in danger. He is willing to make friends with other pirates if he gets a good vibe from them, but he does understand that they are still his rivals. Hermes hates marines who believe in absolute justice and will show them no mercy. But as a former marine, he is sometimes conflicted about his path.

History; Hermes was the son of a Marine officer and aspired to be just like his dad when growing up. Since his father was a Rear Admiral, Hermes was able to meet several high profile people; including a few Vice-Admirals and some Cipher Pol agents. Hermes went through training to become a marine, starting at age 15. He climbed up the ranks fast, because of his father's connections and his early skills with Haki and Rokushiki. Hermes eventually achieved the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.

When he was 18, Hermes' father was killed by a Vice-Admiral while protecting two citizens suspected of aiding a pirate; his father was the only one who knew they were not. Hermes was not told which Vice-Admiral killed his father, and he couldn't get a straight answer from any of his father's friends. Hermes' trust of the Marines, and the World Government, had been shattered. He rebelled by stealing the Silver-Silver Devil Fruit and running off with a standard marine ship (not the ones used at Marineford) in the middle of the night.

Hermes then traveled the Paradise half of the Grand Line in search of information and a crew. He had gained several members after just a few months, including a cook, a doctor, and a shipwright. About six months after deserting from the Marines and starting his life as a pirate, Hermes got a lead about two potential suspects for his father's murder. Hermes and his crew infiltrated Marine base G-2, in an attempt to take Vice Admiral Comil hostage for interrogation and a possible execution. Hermes was successful in reaching Comil, but found out he was not the man that killed Hermes' father. They were able to escape relatively safely due to an unrelated distraction cause by N. Neeya. Neeya would later end up joining the Quicksilver pirates and become the first mate.

Two years later, just a few months after the Whitebeard War, the Quicksilver pirates would attempt an assassination of Vice Admiral Lawfoot D. John. It was during this fight, that the Vice Admiral admitted to killing Hermes father, saying that he was simply dealing with a traitor in the "according manor." But even with the combined efforts of Hermes and Neeya they were not able to kill John before re-enforcements arrived, costing Neeya his life and forcing the surviving pirates to retreat. Aroo, Neeya's former pet Transponder Snail took his death quite hard.

Jolly Roger; Hermes' Jolly Roger is a silvery skull and cross bones wearing a fedora hat.

Abilities; Rukoshiki: While his training was not completed, Hermes is proficient in some techniques.

• Finger Pistol (Shigan): Hermes can use the standard Finger Pistol technique, as well as a flicking variation similar to Rob Lucci.
• Shave (Soru): Hermes has mastered the fundamentals of the Shave technique.
• Iron Body (Tekkai): Hermes has mastered the fundamentals of the Iron Body technique.
• Tempest Leg (Rankyaku): Hermes has mastered the fundamentals of Tempest Leg, but prefers to use the technique with his arms more often.

Haki: Hermes' Haki abilities awakened during his time as a Marine. Although he has not fully mastered them, his is still proficient.

• Observation Haki (Kenbunshoku): Hermes is well versed in this form of Haki and effortlessly incorporates into his fighting style.
• Armament Haki (Busoshoku): Hermes has mastered the fundamentals of Armament Haki and mainly uses it to enhance his Mercury Blade when needed.

Devil Fruit: Silver-Silver Fruit (銀銀の実 ; Gin Gin no Mi)
The Silver-Silver Fruit is a Paramecia class devil fruit with the ability to allow the user to create and manipulate seemingly endless amounts of mercury. A side effect of the ability allows the user to measure changes in temperature, atmospheric pressure, and blood pressure.

• Heavy Metal (ヘビー メタル ; Hebī Metaru): The user launches a stream of mercury to infect the enemy and to cause death by heavy metal poisoning.
• Mercury Blade (水銀 ブレード ; Suigin Burēdo): Hermes forms blades of mercury on him limbs or he can make them sprout from a surface covered in mercury. They are capable of inflicting heavy metal poisoning on the person cut. Hermes can use Iron Body to increase strength and sharpness; but is vulnerable to counter attacks if he misses. He can also imbue the blades with Armament Haki to allow him to hit Logia Devil Fruit users.
• Mirror Armor (ミラー 鎧 ; Mirā Yoroi): Hermes' body or part of his body can turn metallic to reflect beam based attacks. It can also be use as a regular mirror.
• Metal Eater (メタル イーター ; Metaru Ītā): Hermes can use the mercury to dissolve most any metal, except for Iron.
• Silver Bullet (銀 銃弾 ; Gin Jūdan): Hermes uses Finger Pistol to fire mercury bullets by flicking his fingers.
• Heavy Metal Injection (ヘビー メタル 注射 ; Hebī Metaru Chūsha): Hermes uses the standard Finger Pistol to stab opponents and secrete mercury into their body.
• Silver Statue (銀像 ; Gin-zō): Hermes covers his body in mercury while using Iron Body and/or Armament Haki to harden and strengthen it.
• Silver Crescent (銀 三日月 ; Gin Mikazuki): Hermes launches a crescent of mercury using the Tempest Leg technique.
• Silver Mace (銀 槌矛 ; Gin Tsuchihoko): A spiked mace version of Mercury Blade with the same side-effects.

The only special weakness of the Silver-Silver Fruit is that Iron has a resistance to some of its abilities.

I actually feel a little bad for Brownbeard, they're all total free loaders.
But you wouldn't expect much better from pirates, huh? :p

Oh wow, it's neat to see the mini dragon in action.
I really hope Luffy could tame it and bring it along by the end of the arc! :D

Those poor naive marines... :/
Vergo is a pretty ruthless bastard.
He also seems to be a pretty competent deceiver.
And he has the nerve to smack down the lovely Captain Tashigi! D:<
But in comes the valiant knight Sanji to save the maiden! :p
**** yeah Sanji, beat his face into the ground!

Vergo is one of the few villains in One Piece that I truly hate.
Also on that list would be Blackbeard, Hordy Jones, and Saint Charloss.

Luffy running so fast that it set the ground on fire?! Daaaannngg! >.>
Alright, looks like were going to see a real showdown between Luffy and Caesar now!

I recently stumbled upon some animated gifs of the Arlong Park fight.
But I soon realized that the animation style was different from the original episodes.
After some quick research, I found out that there was a recent TV special of the Arlong Arc.
I'm bummed that Funimation doesn't have it on their website with the streams of the regular episodes, yet.
I hope it gets subbed/dubbed into English relatively soon. :)

Wow, this was an interesting chapter. Luffy's gonna beat the crap out of Caesar now :) I'm just slightly worried about Sanji, that Vergo seems extremely strong....
Also, I don't think the dragon will be a big problem. Zoro is there, after all.

And if you want to discuss the most hated villains in One Piece, Sakazuki (Akainu) gets my vote! I would give anything to see that guy die in horrible pain! He was the one who's responsible for Whitebeard's death! I know Blackbeard killed Whitebeard, but if it wasn't for Akainu who burned all his organs (And a part of his head in the manga), Whitebeard would defeat them all!
