And in Championship, you spend all your time in one map (your farm).
You don't exist as an entity yourself, it's more like a tamagotchi.

When you want to catch something, you go to a different map, (I.e. plains, volcano, ice, whatever) in which you find lots of overworld Digimon.
Once you find a Digimon, you circle it with the stylus (which ropes it), then kinda drag it along the ground and its stamina decreases.

Once it's knocked out you kinda pick it up and take it with you back home.

It would have to be modified to suit an RPG though, since you actually exist.

Maybe you enter battles through Digimon overworlds on the map, like in some RPGs!
 
Yeah, we'll try and make them as official as possible. Perhaps we could use the mouse for capturing? It might be too hard to script, though...
 
Well the NO$GBA DS Emulator did it pretty well. Oh well. So we're making it as official as possible? Umm.. Well some Digimon have no official Baby Forms or Rookie Forms. FlameWizardmon is one of these and I made a line for it.
Mokumon --> DemiMeramon --> Candlemon --> Wizardmon --> FlameWizardmon
No Mega Form. How does that sound?

Of course, then there's the problem of sprites. As far as I know, Mokumon, DemiMeramon and FlameWizardmon don't exist in Digimon World DS/Dusk/Dawn, so there are no battle sprites for them.
 
As a matter of fact, Fresh Digimon isn't even programmed in the game. So I guess Mokumon can be kicked out. I will strive to achieve my best. We will have FlameWizardmon in this game! -glares-
I think I can do Tamers. The one I made came out quite well. Obviously this tamer isn't the one for the game. I can't post links though....

FlameWizardmon is too awesome not to have! They have Wizardmon too. DemiMeramon shoudn't be too hard to sprite. So no problem here I guess, I hope....

I'm not familiar with Flamewizardmon, is he just a recolour like Sorcerymon?

Nope. Waaayyyy more awesome. Ultimate level too. I drew a piccy of it, if you want to see it. I have to have more posts first. Or is there an easier way? Yeah sure, I'll try.

You could probably edit the Wizardmon sprite or something...

Also, we'd need multiple sprites for the animation, so a single pixel-over isn't that useful.

Perhaps but sizing that down and spriting over it would give you a pretty kickass lineart.
Up to you though, I suppose.

Oh, Wichu, in the battle system, are we going to have it like in World so that it can be moved (since some Digimon go over the screen)
Or are we just going to make the screen big enough for all of them?

And are animted sprites a go?

Well, if you think you're up to it...
You know how the DWDS battle sprites work, right? Three frames for the idle stance and two frames for attacking, the first one of which is also the 'being hit' pose.

Hm, if I'm up to it? I already have all the sprites ripped, albeit not in the right format.

Perhaps we could just have animated idles and at first, and possibly implement attacking, defending and hurt afterwards.

And there isn't a defending frame. I found a website with all of the DWDS/Dusk/Dawn sprites, in all 5 frames, so we're not exactly short on sprites.
