To be honest, I think he reason the DCC has been crap for a while is because of the average age of the posters. 18 months ago, the main posters were roughly between the ages of 14-18. Lately the ages have mainly been 11-14, and with all due respect, the younger members can't hold decent discussions for very long and don't really have many, if any, decent stories to start new conversations with.

I believe it, seeing that most Pokemon fans are about that age...

Yup, I agree that that's probably one of the main reasons. And since they're posting in here all the time... it leaves very little room for someone else to actually attempt to start a semi-intelligent discussion. Ah well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that is noticing this, and is frustrated about it. Half the time I come in here anymore, the topic is about either weather or school and I just leave immediately.

True, but a lot of the active members in the DCC and OC in general were slightly older and less interested in Pokemon and more interested in the "community" aspect of PC, with the younger members more or less sticking to the Pokemon portion of the forum.

It'd be awesome if we could have a T Dome-esque area that had an age or maturity restriction that was for more intelligent discussion rather than the T Dome's "mature" discussions. But, that may just be me. XD

And there has always been a good number of topics based on anime and stuff like that. Those topics really bug me because I don't like anime and there's a whole area dedicated to anime discussion so it doesn't need to be brought to the DCC.

I don't mind the 11-14 year olds here though, because they're actually quite smart (half of them are if not all). But as you said they also have less experiences to discuss, so the length of their conversations will be limited.

But yeah, 9 month ago DCC died down significantly because of active DCCers quitting or getting banned around that time and not having come back. I left myself around that time as well, though I was never really much of a DCCer so I don't count. :P

I don't think the T-Dome was appropriate to have on a Pokemon forum. I myself wasn't interested and never posted there. But I imagine most people including me would have a lot to say in there if they actually did open up.

Which is exactly why it had restricted access. The people who did want more mature discussions could ask for access while the younger members could've carried on happily without ever stumbling into the discussions there.

But as Loveless said, it ended up being an area about masterbation instead. And then the New T Dome was made which just ended up being thread after thread of controversial religious discussions/fights.

I'm serious too, the masterbation thread was like 80 pages long, which was at the time the original crush thread was the biggest thread at PC. It was crazy.

But yeah, T-Dome was 90% sex and inappropriate spam, 10% intellegent convo.

Edit: I don't think those restrictions were strict enough... anyone who wanted to and claimed they could handle it was given permission. I don't really care because I don't believe in the whole age discretion thing, but it somehow made the forum look bad for me.

I actually asked for them to be brought back again, but that was declined instantly. I actually liked the rep system, but clearly I was in a minority.
