OOC: That's alright Zimvee, there wasn't really anything important in that post. Well... except for Zeke meeting Dane. But I'm just glad I didn't get in trouble.
Episode 4 - Sandshrew, Heart of a Champion
Zeke trudged slowly along the dirt road that leads out of Vermillion City and into the mountain bordered path of Route 11. "Off I go again. By myself... alone," Zeke whispered to himself, hoping that someone... anyone would appear, just so he could have a little company.
Zeke lifted his head and stared off into the distance, the route wasn't exceptionally long... but it would be lonely. He sighed and started to walk towards his next destination, even though he had no idea where it was he was going.
"Uhm... Zeke?" questioned a soft familiar voice from behind him. Zeke spun around with the speed of Staryu using Rapid Spin and saw Belinda standing a few metres back along the road. "I was just wondering... you know if you wanted to, maybe..." Belinda began hesitantly.
"What... what is it?" Zeke asked quietly, deep down he was hoping that she wanted to come along with him. He walked closer to Belinda and smiled warmly, trying to make travelling with him a lot more enjoyable.
Belinda smiled back at Zeke and opened her mouth to talk again, "Zeke..." she said sternly, "I would like to go on your journey with you, if that's alright with you."
She blinked quickly and stared at Zeke with puppy-dog eyes.
Zeke was about to cheer, but managed to contain himself. "Uh... sure, that would be cool," he said, trying to keep calm.
Belinda jumped up and down joyfully and wrapped her arms around Zeke's neck, hugging him tightly. "Thank you, Zeke!" she squealed happily.
~~~~~
The afternoon sun beamed down on Zeke and Belinda as they walked along Route 11, they were both overjoyed that they were travelling together and neither of them knew how the other felt.
Zeke smiled and turned to Belinda, "So... your mum just let you go with me?" he asked, kind of confused why she'd suddenly changed her mind about letting Belinda travel.
Belinda turned her eyes to the ground, "Well... she doesn't exactly know that I'm with you. She thinks that I'm going to visit my aunt in Celadon city." She looked up at Zeke and smiled as if she was proud of the fact that she had lied to her mother, not that Zeke cared much about that matter.
Zeke was slightly surprised by this, but he kept a straight face and simply turned his head forward as they continued along the path.
~~~~~
Zeke and Belinda sat on the soft green grass; they had been travelling for half an hour and they had decided to have a rest.
Zeke stretched and stood up, "Did you bring anything to eat?" he asked Belinda, staring down at her as if it was her job to bring food.
Belinda looked at Zeke with confusion in her eyes, "Uh... no, i thought you'd have some," she returned. She fell onto her back and looked up at the blue sky as a flock of Spearow flew over head. "So... we don't have any food. That's just great," she said sarcastically.
Belinda heard a loud thud and she quickly sat back up to see what was up. Zeke lay motionlessly on the ground, snoring loudly and a large yellow and brown Pokemon stood behind him. She quickly got to her feet and stared angrily at the strange Pokemon, "What did you do to Zeke?"
She pulled out her Pokédex and pointed it at the large Pokemon.
Drowzee: the Hypnosis Pokémon.
Puts enemies to sleep, then eats their dreams. Occasionally gets sick from eating bad dreams.
Belinda closed her Pokédex and looked at the Drowzee, "Oh, so you get a kick out of putting people to sleep and eating their dreams," she said, slightly annoyed.
The large psychic Pokemon clapped happily as it's eyes started to glow white and it sent beams of energy towards Belinda. Her eyes grew heavy and she started to wobble from the power of Drowzee's Hypnosis attack.
All of a sudden the energy stopped and Belinda was freed from Drowzee's Hypnosis attack. Belinda shook her head and looked at Drowzee to see a small mouse-like Pokemon hanging from its ear.
She opened her Pokédex again and pointed it at the new Pokemon.
Sandshrew: the Mouse Pokémon.
To protect itself from attackers, it curls up into a ball. It lives in arid regions with minimal rainfall.
Drowzee began shaking its head madly, trying to remove the unwanted guest from its ear. Suddenly Sandshrew was hurled through the air, landing harshly at Belinda's feet. She crouched down to examine it; all those years of helping her mother at the Pokemon Centre had finally paid off. She concluded that it was a male Sandshrew, probably the smallest of the pack and it seemed as if it had been living on its own for a while know, considering the fact that it was malnourished.
Despite the fact that it was slightly unhealthy, it was quickly back on its feet and ready to fight.
Belinda rose to her feet and stared at the Drowzee, she noticed how much bigger the Drowzee was to the Sandshrew and decided that it was an unfair battle.
She plucked a Pokeball from her belt and tossed it into the air, "C'mon on out and help Sandshrew, Poliwag!" she called.
In a burst of light a small deep blue Pokemon with a round body and stumpy legs was standing alert next to Sandshrew.
"Alright Poliwag, give it a Water Gun attack!" she commanded as she turned to see what Sandshrew was going to do.
Poliwag sent a jet of water towards Drowzee which hit it dead on and knocked it back a couple of feet.
Sandshrew didn't want Poliwag to get all the glory and it quickly rolled up into a ball and spun at full speed, ramming straight into Drowzee's head.
Drowzee wobbled backwards and collapsed onto the grass, unable to continue battling. Poliwag hopped up and down happily before leaping into Belinda's arms, "Great job Poliwag."
She then looked down at Sandshrew, who seemed quite sad, "You did a great job too, Sandshrew," she said warmly.
Sandshrew looked up at Belinda and smiled, "Shrew, shrew!" it called happily.
OOC: Poliwag was level 24 at the start of the battle and yes, Sandshrew has joined Belinda's team.
